Nobles from the same House or allied Nobles from a different house?

I am currently playing around with a few ideas. A two-handed fighter, a bloodrager or a ranger - perhaps going Witchguard.

@Alientude how is your witch coming along and would a witchguard fit in with your character?

I'm thinking Drow or Dhamphir Magus...

Would you allow 3rd Party JBE Preferred Class description for Magus?

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 6) - 1 = 15
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 5) - 2 = 13
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 1) - 1 = 13
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 6) - 3 = 18
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 5) - 2 = 11
4d6 - 4 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 4) - 4 = 13
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 3) - 1 = 11
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 6) - 3 = 15

@Big OM: Coming along. So far I've got that she's a member of the Jadwiga Harcatha, but relatively unimportant as Jadwiga go. She's ruthless, ambitious and LE. A witchguard could easily fit into her background, as long as there's no romantic thoughts required of her.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 4) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 3) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 3) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 1) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 4) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 1) = 16

17, 13, 12, 14, 18, 16
Im thinking about doing a two-handed fighter Drow using a Nodachi for a main weapon.

@alientude That would be fine with me. I have only read little about the witch and their guards, but I imagine that he would be a native to Irrisen sworn to her service. Have you decided on a patron yet?

Uh, Ren Ashbell, did you forget to drop the low roll on each of those? Should be 14, 12, 11, 12, 16, 15. Still good rolls, honestly.

Dark Archive

Is hellknight still open?

The Exchange

I am ready

Hmmm... interesting.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 3) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 2) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 6) = 16 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 1) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 1) = 17 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2) = 9 = 7
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 2) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 3) = 11 = 10

Rolls: 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 interesting result.

Definitely like to be a drow (I love drow). Still space for a drow?

Wait a minute. I just remembered you did give a go at a "Dirty Dozen" type game in the past, which barely got going (at 25 posts only, mostly player interaction when characters arrivied in city). This is my female drow character for that adventure, with a background already. Place names can be changed if needed. Change the stats to reflect the new rolls would be done.

Elaugvyr Shynklyr

Ah see Monkeygod, who had Kalmafein who also had a background tied with Elaugvyr.

Seems most have better stats than me, and have rolled twice. Lets see what comes up.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 6) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 1) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 2) = 11 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 5) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 6) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 4) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 4) = 17 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 4) = 14 = 12

Rolls: 15, 13, 12, 12, 12, 10

No better.

Wow! Look at all the sorcerers being put up. I let other compete for those positions. Instead I can go for a drow rogue type character, as I getting better at making rogue characters. Another option is a drow cleric type character to provide some healing (have not seen any healers yet, though not that good at creating clerics). New background will be needed though. I don't have any of the APs, so I have to buy them first, well the drow ones for sure.

Drow sorcerer - Storyteller Shadow
Drow nightblade - Monkeygod
Drow rogue/healer - DarkOne the Drow
Drow fighter - Ren Ashbell

If the drows want to create a linked background I am fine with it as I did it before with Monkeygod in the past.

Noble roll if allowed: 1d100 ⇒ 16

Arg a cleric is horrible to provide healing for evil characters. Must do negative energy is not realistic, considering even the evil need to heal their numbers.

Maybe just go for creating an assassin.

@GM: My witch has Scribe Scroll. Can I scribe some scrolls pre-game at the discounted price?

@BigOm: Why, winter of course. ;)

DarkOne the Drow wrote:

A Drow God who has neutrality in their portfolio may allow positive energy channeling. I am not that familiar with the Golarion Drow pantheon though so this may just be wishful thinking.

With that many Drow we could be an explatory parry to the surface though my background has me being sent to the surface as punishment.

I almost made a Drow Wizard but I already have two wizard characters on other PBP'S so I figured I would give a Sorcerer a try. Never plated one for longer than a hundred posts in a game. I DM my table top group so no opportunity to do so elsewhere.

Yep, if I remember correctly there is a deity that is more neutral for the drow. With clerics seen as lending players in drow society I have to really figure out a "good story" to why she is not the typical cleric leader of ruthlessness.

Lets see what we got so far:
Drow sorcerer - Storyteller Shadow
Drow nightblade - Monkeygod
Drow rogue/healer - DarkOne the Drow
Drow fighter - Ren Ashbell
Human sorcerer - Katya "The Adultress" Kurylenko
Drow or Dhamphir Magus - knighthood
Ifrit magus - Ozbadin - scanford
Winter Witch - alientude
Nagaji draconic bloodrager (or sorc) - ElterAgo
??? Hellknight - Donald Robinson

@GM Any restrictions on the bonus feat?

Well looked more into Golarion drow, they worship 29 demon lords. So unless she did not grow up amongst the drow, she would only know the demon lords, and we all know how evil they are. James Jacobs put it nicely: had to give the drow something else as the deities for drow was WoC IP, so they gave them demons to worship.

Well let me creative juices flow to make a neutral cleric work.

Could make a neutral (or lawful) evil drow, worship a neutral deity to be able to cast healing spells and use positive energies to heal. Let me see if I can find a deity that would work, though also trying to keep to the theme of the drow.

Well Pharasma seems to me the only choice for a drow cleric to be able to channel positive energy. Could go completely crazy and go for a oracle.

Dark Archive

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@all

Right now there are ten applications. I'll limit the party to 8 members, since that's the highest number I ever had in a PbP and it worked pretty well.

Also, my goal here is to have a diverse party, from different parts of Golarion, so let me warn you that I'll limit the parring of characters to just two. That means I'll accept only two drows, two hellknights, two white witches (or witchguards) etc.

You will have more chance to get in if your character is different from the others.

I'd like to have background proposals in a day or three. Your background is what will get you in this game.

Oki, I will bail out for the drow position, as there was definite 3 drows before my arrival. I have none of the APs, so don't know much what happens in them.

For diverse racial party there are plenty to choose from, but related to an AP is my Achilles' heel for this adventure.

DarkOne the Drow wrote:

Don't worry too much about that, it's not hard to find basic info on the Adventure Paths and figure out basic character types that'd work. I'll even post some thoughts here for each in order.

Adventure Path Tie-in Ideas:
Rise of the Runelords: Not much in particular fits here, but it's Varisia, so anything from the region could work. Flavor-wise, ties to exploring Thassilonian ruins or sin magic make sense.
Curse of the Crimson Throne: Also Varisia, this time Korvosa. I've always thought more social or roguish characters can fit well here.
Second Darkness: Drow, obviously, or more indirectly surface elves. Other explorers of the Darklands.
Legacy of Fire: Arabian nights! Katapesh and Qadira; sulis would work here, as would most of the planetouched races actually. Most things with a Middle-Eastern type flavor would work--Dervish Dancers, anyone?
Council of Thieves: This time Cheliax, so Chelish nobles, Hellknights in training, or again roguish types.
Kingmaker: Almost any concept can tie in here as long as they'd be interested in forging a kingdom. Cavaliers, nature types, especially Aldori swordlords what with Brevoy being an important factor.
Serpent's Skull: Dunno much about this one, honestly. Maybe nagaji or vishkanya, since it's got lizard themes going on? The Red Mantis also get involved from what I remember, so that could be neat.
Carrion Crown: Ustalav, anything dealing with horror or such. Dhampirs especially, but a lot of archetypes that focus around hunting undead could focus here.
Jade Regent: Anything Eastern, ninjas, samurai, archetypes, even just using eastern weapons and armor works. Also, interestingly enough, Ulfen/viking types, since you travel through the Land of the Linnorm Kings and the Crown of the World.
Skull and Shackles: Pirates. End of story.
Shattered Star: Similar to RotRL from my understanding in terms of concepts, but with stronger ties to the Pathfinder Society.
Reign of Winter: Again, northern/viking type concepts could work, as well as winter witches, obviously. If the GM is willing, you might also spin a human from Earth being tied to this, what with the whole 1917 Russia thing going on...
Wrath of the Righteous: Paladins do amazing here, as well as anyone else who'd be interested in killing demons. Might be hard to make such a character fit the "Dirty Dozen" unless they're a low templar.
Mummy's Mask: Back to Garund with a more Egyptian feel. Not sure about base classes but there's a few options that could be neat, as well as moving toward the Living Monolith prestige class.
Iron Gods: Science fantasy? This is mostly flavor and maybe using some stuff from the Tech Guide.
Giantslayer: It's in the title. Any character who has a beef with giants would fit this.

Anyway, also a question for the GM: would you be okay if I flavored my character as using his katana two-handed, but mechanically it's one hand? I ask since most sword styles using the katana use two hands, but daring champion technically has to use one to get most of their abilities.

This is alientude's winter witch submission. Statblock is in the profile. Still working on background.

** spoiler omitted **...

Yep, hard to find the races that exists in the AP.

I did spot the Living Monolith, but that is a prestige class starting from level 10 for a fighter. Also looked at Legacy of Fire, but noticed someone already taken an Ifrit as a sorcerer.

I had the feline races in mind, but sadly could not find an AP for them. Maybe a future AP will have them.

I think I can work with Serpent's Skull AP, the nagaji or vishkanya. Oddly I was looking at these already, but could not figure out if they were in an AP. Thanx for finding this information for me. So I be working on a reptilian cleric/oracle.

Nightflier,

What setting? Seems like Golarion, based on tying us to the APs, but not sure.

Dark Archive

Will be submitting a Hellknight signifer aspirant from the Order of the Godclaw. Will work on the Background first then the crunch.

Looks to me I be able to put a healer (cleric/oracle/druid) nagaji together. I will begin working on character soon, just had a crazy day today.

Finally found a non-evil deity for the nagaji. Nalinivati is neutral and happened to be said to have created the nagaji. So a nagaji cleric is possible for providing healing. I also getting scraps of information related to nagaji and the Serpent's Skull to help with the background, considering I don't have the Serpent's Skull AP.

I like the special nagaji druid class, though worried that taking it would provide insufficient healing for the party, would also use Nalinivati for the druid deity too.

Think I going to an interesting character to create and play.

@nightflier

Where is the adventure starting? Considering my nagaji will be coming from Nagajor nation of Tian Xia, across the ocean to the east of Casmaron. Taking up a pilgrimage to the west to the Mwangi jungle to discover if Ydersius' skull is truly there.

I going to focus on the background for now, while deciding whether to take up cleric or nagiji favoured class the Naga Aspirant (druid). Either class would fit the background with slight changes. For both classes the deity would be Nalinivati.

Color me interested. Looking at Battle Oracle who was in training to be a hell knight signifier, or maybe a spirit guide oracle trying to put to rest the ghost of old Ustalav. Otherwise, I'm feeling a little divine.

4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 6) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 1) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 3) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 6) = 23
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 1) = 17

Roll: 13, 14, 13, 13, 14, 13. Positively wicked.

Adventure Tie-in:

Rise of the Runelords: Sent into study sin magic and demonic influences in wizardry in the region. Learning to better destroy such foes.
Curse of the Crimson Throne: Dispatched to ensure the kingdom's loyalty to Chelix, finds the queen awnsers to no one.
Second Darkness: Purge the unclean demon taint from the land and drive the mad elves back into the ground.
Legacy of Fire: Exiled from Chelix, the oracle finds himself wandering the land of the jinn.
Council of Thieves: Hometown living, so Chelish nobles, Hellknights in training.
Kingmaker: Conquest of glory and bringing law to these lawless lands.
Serpent's Skull: Ghost of dead explorers beseech me to end the evil of the serpents.
Carrion Crown: Using the haunted curse and spirit guided archtype, putting to rest these souls that wander the land.
Jade Regent: Be a bro and help a friend claim there birthright. Also, slay some demons and rest some ghosts.
Skull and Shackles: Pirates. End of story.
Shattered Star: More study of ancient magic with demonic influences and the hunt for powerful artifacts.
Reign of Winter: Family bloodline is actually from another world.
Wrath of the Righteous: PURGE THE UNCLEAN!!!!
Mummy's Mask: Study of dead gods and how to better kill them. Also, stop the dead from rising.
Iron Gods: Science fantasy? Chelix needs better weapons in its fight against demons and conquest of the world.
Giantslayer: That giant ate my cow, death to all giants. My mystery demands it.

Working on crunch and detailed background

@nightflier
I just want to make sure of something. You want a very diverse party of races, especially of uncommon played races, yet the races must be tied to an AP some how. That is the race appears outright in the AP, or related to something in the AP.

Taking the nagaji not directly in the AP, though related to nagas (I think also not in AP), who worshipped Ydersius, which is final target (well it's head) of the Serpent's Skull AP. Nagas appear everywhere in Golarion, though the nagaji seem to only appear on their continent, even having their own nation.

Are there any other races that is suitable that has not been selected already by a player from the summary list above?

Alignments is all excluding CE, so a "dirty dozen" party are those that don't mind getting their hands "dirty" to get a job done.

Your nagaji character can be tied to Jade Regent AP, but as you've noticed, Serpen't Skull is also a good tie-in. I recommend that you download Player's Guides for the APs you find interesting. They are free and in them you can find the ideas for your background.

OK, guys.

Those of you who have concepts, please post under your character's profiles. Background is enough. You can finish the crunch later.

@nightflier, my laptop hard drive has die, so need to spend a day or 2 to get new drive and install everything again. Thus I going to be delayed in creating the background.

I can say I did read the player guide for Jade Regent AP, sadly no real useful information, besides mention journey to Tian Xia, and plenty information about caravan. I see what other sources that may cover Tian Xia.

Tamar sits in a seedy Tavern on the surface, cowl covering his identity, awaiting something to do.

I think I hit the jackpot. Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Dragon Empires Gazetteer (PFRPG), which covers these uncommon races: the foxlike kitsune, the reptilian nagaji, the spiritual samsarans, the crafty tengus, and the shadowy wayangs. Also has information of the nations for these races.

I going to buy this book, it will help creating a background before she embarks on a pilgrimage to Mwangi jungle in search for the truth of Ydersius's head: Is the feared Ydersius still alive?

plenty of opportunity to learn about his heritage.

Background and personality in the profile now.

DarkOne the Drow's character

Nagaji healer on the way. Still to decide whether to be full cleric (only 1 healing capable character) or naga aspirant druid (more than 1 healing capable member). I make the decision depending on number of healing capable characters in party.

Still very busy with laptop re-installation of multiple OSs and data. Taking longer than I thought it would. But I am building a background in my mind.

Love the backstory and character name Wondering_Monster.
