Bertram manages to beat the odds this time, as raw plasma coalesces around him from whatever epic ritual Baris just completed, the scent of ozone fills the air and with a "POP" it disappears, leaving Bertram leaning on the slab with steam coming off of his white-hot metallic carapace.

After gathering equipment from the xill, Azulth returns to a vantage point to see what's going on with the town, and he flies down if things seem strange.

Alton looks around to see if any of them left bodies or piles of ash that used to be bodies, particularially the bigger ones and the casters.

The View:
It looks like it was before, a hole in the ground where the abandoned village used to be. You can see some of the hovels still, though most are broken up. The lake is water again, there is no volcano on the far side, though you do see a mountain.

No massive beasts roam.

Many of the Xill bodies still remain, the standard average size ones and the large ones, none of the clerics remain.

Looking closely at the bodies you see a strange rune that looks to be burned into the abdomen of the creatures. The larger ones have several runes burned around the original one, as if they give more power. With a detect magic, you can see the runes are still magical, though it looks to be fading.

What school of magic, and did the clerics leave behind piles of ashes.


The piles of ash for the clerics lasted for a few minutes at the most.

Transmutation would be the school.

Rekhit (the imp) gathers up the ashes into a glass jar before teleporting back to me. if it is possible to do so I cast restore corpse and make whole on the ash.

Fine Alton you imp can get some of the ash, and quick enough to you to restore the corpse.

Making a 'Juju' Zombie, whatever that means, of one of the large Xill. How can it speak?

If you want to know what the runes are, feel free to make what checks you want, though spellcraft, K: aracana, and K: planes I would think would be the best choices.

A check to know what has transpired? Int or Wis DC 20.

linkafied juju zombie for your convenience, they are essentially the zombie version of skeletal champions, as I am a juju oracle, most of my undead I make that I don't pay special attention to will be of this variety, as to how I will comunicate with it, nowhere does it say that they loose the ability to speak, and they retain their Int and wisdom, so I shall start with common then undercommon, then draconic then each of the aligned planar languages (infernal, celestian, abyssal etc) then sylvan to see which if any they understand


The Xill speaks common and Infernal. "We attacked because Master told us too, we travel much faster than Master."

These runes are of the runelords of Thassolian, power of strength. There is a chance the magic in the rune could override your control of the zombie.

DC 40 K Arcana/Spellcraft:
Either much more ancient than Thassolian's or an advanced form of their magic. There is a chance that the entity that created this rune could be scrying through it if not other such spells.

DC 20 K Planes:
You believe that the way the rune was impressed (branded) on the target and other fire etchings, that this could be from the fire plane, either Sladdi or Efritti work.

DC 25 K Planes:
Efritti.

Alton:
You then decide to try the procedure with the Xill Cleric.
Though as the Cleric comes to, it begins casting spells. Fire begins whipping around the room. Alton Will Save DC 30, even if succeed you take 1d6 ⇒ 1 level drains.

The cleric is not a zombie but fully raised from the dead. The runes on it's body... the robes are gone and you can see all the runes all over its body, glowing brightly and growing brighter.


Spellcraft DC 32:
The spells that it has cast were quickened as if with contingency spells, as one goes off the others go off, burning the runes, as if they were scrolls. They are homing spells calling to some entity, breaking wards, and allowing others to view.

Alton, his imp, Baris, your minions, are in the temple.

The others are still outside and Bertram went to his quarters.

What do you do?

You hear fire burning and spells being casted. Over yonder... do you investigate? How fast?

There are also metal automatons one man sized, in armor wielding an andamanite katana the other simply huge which is it's in game size
also, since it died via Canopic conversion in 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds as a mummy with its organs in 4 Canopic jars,
He large xill looks to be some form of zombie.
