I am studying distance learning... which is what I am doing for the university in the first place, running a distance undergraduate degree programme. The materials are drawn from the on-campus offering and my mission is to give the students a real undergraduate experience and give the lecturers the ability to project their true 'voice' into the delivery. Of course, by linking my research to my work I can combine the two, so as not to annoy people by goofing off when I'm supposed to be working... and this devious intent has paid off, the department is paying my fees :)

No, no, and no..I have been invited to three doc programs, at two different schools and I know that writing a dissertation is not something I would actually finish. But self-awareness is a wonderous thing, many people don't figure that out until they take another 60 hours of grad credits (beyond their master's program).

My EXTREME apologies for being absent the last few days. Crazy inter-family drama saw me having to go to the middle of nowhere for the Thanskgiving holiday and I got unexpectedly cut off from the universe. Very sorry.

I realized that I made a mistake on my character sheet. I am unable to get Kinetic whip till 6th level. I still plan to get it but I have to remove it to be completely fair. However, it leaves me with only one choice at my level for replacement:
Element(s) aether or earth; Type substance infusion; Level 2; Burn 2
Associated Blasts earth, magma, metal, mud, telekinetic
Saving Throw none
You bowl your foes over with the sheer mass of your kinetic blast.
Attempt a trip combat maneuver check against each target damaged by your infused blast, using your Constitution modifier instead of your Strength modifier to determine your Combat Maneuver Bonus.
Its effectively weaker then Kinetic Whip but its my only option. I just wanted to inform you DM.

Please take care

I want to apologize in advance that my access will be spotty through the 4th of January. Basically my family is having some issues that require more attention than anticipated and additional issues of illness add to the complication. I'm sorry that I have been so out of it the last couple of weeks, basically it boils down to my son having some issues (He is 5 and on the barest cusp of being "special needs") that require us to be home more over the holidays, which makes it har to log on and be present. Things are inching along but I wanted to keep folks in the loop.

Indeed take care of yourself and yours.
I suggest that we place Rhasha and Lothar up front, to roll perception and such and you can add words of wisdom until combat breaks out. We can easily assume that newer party members have fewer ideas on where to go next.....
Alternatively this is a good time to go back to Olegs and maybe order a history book or other supplies we might need....

Happy New Year

Very quiet lately. I'm still here

Indeed, as am I. I'm afraid sometimes we have to move the game along and let the DM catch up with us. I know there are a few things we need to do yet.
I'm thinking we want to take the broken sword to the settlement to turn over to Gorguk and/or Calindar to have it repaired.
There is still a fair bit of the map I think we need to explore.
There might be some kingdom-building decisions we could participate in, if you were so inclined.
Other possibilities that interest you, bring them up.

I was asked by Noriel's player why I hadn't posted anything recently.
This is my response:
There was a beautiful role-play going on between two other players. Quite simply, it wasn't my place to interrupt what was transpiring.

Jirani is still finding his footing in the party and since he seems to be a bit less conflicted he isn't the source of great conversation at the moment, lol. I am happy to move on when folks are ready...
| Lothar Narda |
So, I'm looking at taking the Bonded Mind teamwork feat at some point, to make up for the lack of the old communications hub with my rebuild of Lothar. The way I see it, since he used it most with Rhasa and Barnabus, their ability to communicate with each other through it would make the most sense, but it wouldn't be limited to just the three of us. As with any teamwork feat, however, it would need to be had by at least one other besides myself for it to work... otherwise it would be a wasted feat.
So what do you all think... would it be a worthwhile investment, or something I should just pass on?
| Jirani Shores |
On one hand it is awesome but seems replicable with magic...that said it does not appear to in any way indicate magic so could work in other circumstances where magic is not an option...I honestly would be down with it although my feat opportunities are not fantastic.

Sorry folks - had some very bad days last week.
Wednesday someone ran into my car in a supermarket parking lot. I'm OK but the car is wrecked, probably beyond economic repair. He and his insurers have accepted full liability, fortunately, so a hire car has been provided at their expense.
Friday I got back into work - and promptly fell flat on my face. Literally. Blood everywhere. Got carted off in an ambulance to the local ER. Fortunately I checked out OK but look a real mess.
Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Everything is just about sorted out.
I've now acquired another car - another Citroen Zsara Picasso, but 2 years younger than the last one & top of the range rather than the more basic model I had before... and I paid less for it than the insurers offered as the write-off cost of the old one :)
I no longer look as if I'd taken up heavyweight boxing either. Even if someone at church said I'd better not say no to the Bishop again.
Now, let's see about some gaming...
