Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Good idea Elendra! I'll wait until you do the thing with those animals. In the meantime, I wanna look at this tapestry. I'm guessing this is the Arkhentai guy.

Dark Archive

Elendra:
Detect Magic comes up blank here. It was traditional to mummify endeared pets and put them in the tombs of their masters. This looks similar.

Anyone that wishes to make a Linguistics check, untrained, may do so to examine the tapestry.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

I'm little unsure about the compass direction here. The door I came through is located on which wall - north, south, east, or west?
It appears to be the eastern wall with the tapestry on the wall directly opposite me. Is this correct?

Chui gestures at the preserved animals

I bet they wouldn't taste good. Let me sweep the room for traps. Does anyone know what kind of animals they are?

I'd like to do a take 20 perception check for traps at each door and another around the tapestry and pedestals, for a total of three such checks.

Dark Archive

Chui, you are correct. The tapestry is on the western wall.

Chui:
The sweep of the room and the new doors results in nothing specific to find. The doors are closed but should open easily, they are not locked nor trapped.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Just saw that I can do an linguistics check on the tapestry.

Chui carefully studies the tapestry.

I wonder if there are any dirty bits.

Liguistics:
any naughty words?1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

linguistics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Oh man, you guys are way better than me in looking at this stuff and figuring it out with your brain parts but I like the art style.

liguistics: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Wow, very nice shading.

Dark Archive

Chui and Elendra:
Examining the tapestry reveals that Akhentepi had a wife and two children, and this image is of them standing before their family estate. The hieroglyphs lead you to believe that some tragedy befell the family leaving Akhentepi widowed.

The hieroglyphs also allude to the fact that the family were interred elsewhere, and this tomb was built later, after Akhentpei's continued military success.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

This should be hanging in a place where people can appreciate its history and artistry. As a Tosser, I believe it is our duty to remove this with the care that it deserves so that this guy's story can be told once more, whatever that story is. Do you guys want to help me take it down before we move on?

Sure wynrey i will help you. This tapestry tells of Akhentepi's family. A wife a 2 children.
Elendra attempts to help wynrey carefully stowe the ancient cloth into her pack

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

"Deserves to be hanging in a place where people can pay us to appreciate its history and artistry" is how I would have phrased it.

Seeing that Wynrey and Elendra have the looting covered, Chui listens and sniffs carefully at each door to see if he can detect anything on the other side.

Two Take 20 Perception checks, one at each door.

Dark Archive

Wynrey and Elendra work to take the tapestry off the wall, carefully rolling it up to secure it.

Chui:
Nothing stirs from either direction.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Time for some sophisticated decision making

Chui pulls out a gold coin and tosses it into the air.

Heads we go north and tails we go south

Flipping a coin:
1-10=heads, 11-20=tails 1d20 ⇒ 12

And south is the winner.

Everyone OK with that?

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Right behind you, cool cat.

Scarab Sages

Female Shabti Witch (Hex Channeler) 5

Ugh.. I didn't come here to collect dirty old tapestries.

Harmini waves her hand at Chui.

You may as well get on with it then. There's really nothing of interest where we are now.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Chui moves over to the southern set of doors, slowly and carefully opens them, and slips through.

Still moving in careful mode, taking 10 on stealth and 20 on perception

Dark Archive

Skipping the short hall to move things along. With stealth and perceptions being taken into consideration.

A massive mirror stretches across the southern wall of this chamber, flanked by two statues. The statue to the east depicts a tall, gaunt woman in a flowing, hooded gown, holding an hourglass. The figure to the west is that of a jackal-headed man carrying a scepter or staff in his hand. Stone double doors, standing slightly ajar, lead to the east and west. A third set of double doors exits the room to the north. Torch holders sculpted in the shape of bird skulls are built in each corner, and a thin layer of dust covers every surface.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Chui admires himself in the mirror for a second.

Hey, I look pretty hot!

He then moves five feet into the room and gestures back towards the others.

Some interesting stuff up here, anyone want to come up and see if they recognize these statues or detect any magic here.

Lots of dust everywhere so it doesn't look like anyone has been here recently, except maybe a flying mummy or four. However, the two sets of doors going out of this room aren't fully closed. So, I'll keep an eye on them while the rest of you live up to the Tossers' ideal.

Dark Archive

Chui:
The vision in the mirror is a little different than what you would expect. You see yourself as well as a stern human man in ceremonial armor and headress. Your own expression also seems different than expected, as you seem to be staring intently back at yourself readying to pounce.

Knowledge (religion) to identify the statues.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

You three spread out and figure out what everything is, I'll watch our back.

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Oh never mind, Chui is keeping watch this time. I'll take a look around.

Is the hourglass real or part of the statue? Does the staff or scepter look interesting or valuable?

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

So I see two people, me and this stern man, and I'm about to pounce? Am I about to pounce on the man? How do the other three look in mirror when they enter the room?

HISS, this is very weird. Take a look at yourselves in the mirror, what do you see? I'm seeing myself and some guy, and I'm acting odd.

Maybe it's not real, just moldy catnip.

Disbelieve illusion:
Will save 1d20 ⇒ 19

Dark Archive

Wynrey:
The hourglass and staff are all part of the statues. Neither seems especially valuable. As you approach you catch sight of the mirror and notice the reflection shows not only you and Chui but also a stern human man in ceremonial armor and headress. You also notice your reflection and Chui's are both bearing similar stern expressions.

Chui:
At first you only see the two of you, and the reflections seem disappointed with you. And your reflection seems ready to pounce on you. Then when the others move up you see their reflections as well, and like the previous reflections, they seem to be more stern and disapproving than they are.

While you think it might be some kind of trick, it persists.

Elendra and Harmini:
As you approach the room you notice the reflections in the mirror. In addition to your own, and those of your companions, you also see a stern human man in ceremonial armor and headress. Also, the expressions on the faces of you companions are just as stern and disapproving as the human man's.

thats a little odd guys, why do you look so mad?

This cant be real can it?

elendra casts detect magic on the mirror

Dark Archive

Elendra:
There is definitely magic in the area.

One round of detect magic tells you that their is magic, the second round will tell you what is magic, and the third round will help identify the magic.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Ok, let me take a look. Hey, why am I frowning? I don't like this thing at all. Is this girl me? Or is this some kind of evil Wynrey?

I smile and wave at everyone in the mirror.

i spend 3 rounds looking for the magic

spellcraft:
spellcraft: 1d2 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Chui watches Wynrey smile and wave at the mirror and cries a little inside.

Chui turns to Elendra and asks . . .

So, WTF with the mirror? It looks like a trick, maybe even an illusion of some sort to me.

He then turns back to the mirror.

Looking all stern and disappointed are you old man? Won't look that way when you're clutching your throat trying to stop the spray from your carotid artery.

Depending on what Elendra's detect magic/spellcraft tells her, I'm preparing to move to within 10 feet of the mirror.

Scarab Sages

Female Shabti Witch (Hex Channeler) 5

Harmini walks over to the mirror to take a look at what all the commotion is about.

What in the world is everyone blathering about... it's probably just a mirror.

She raises her hand and whispers a soft incantation to help identify it.

Detect Magic for 3 rounds.

Spellcraft:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Dark Archive

Harmini steps up to see what is up with the mirror.

Chui:
As you are looking in the mirror you begin to feel a burning sensation on your forheard.

Please give me a Fortitude save.

Elendra:
The mirror has an aura of illusion and also transmutation. As you are looking in the mirror you begin to feel a burning sensation on your forheard.

Please give me a Fortitude save.

Elendra, please reroll the Spellcraft check you made. You rolled D2, not D20.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

I just want to rip something into little pieces. Is that too much to ask?

YOWL!

Fortitude:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Bad news guys, it looks like my smile magic isn't working.

I turn away to look at the statues but I get startled by Chui's yell.

AHH!! Chui, whats wrong?

Was my smile magic too powerful? WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?

Dark Archive

Chui:
The burning subsides but it leaves you with the lasting impression that some effect of this mirror was attempting to brand you somehow.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Brand me?!? F*** that!

Anyone got a fast and convincing argument why I shouldn't break this mirror into a zillion pieces? Things that try to burn my head make me very cranky.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Chui, Chui, it's ok just think of the money. We can sell this thing to one of those rich idiot Kuthites and they will love it! It only hurts you if you stare at it so let's just leave it for now and when we are done we can rip it violently off the wall. Remember the money.

Stupid f+*@ing mirror. Branding people, who does that?

spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
fortitude: 1d20 ⇒ 2

Dark Archive

Elendra:
The burning continues and you can see a mark forming on you reflection in the mirror. It is ancient hieroglyph, literally branded on your forheard.

Now that you have witnessed the effects, it seems this mirror is a way of marking those who may enter the tomb. The mirror branded you with this mark, but you also know it will not be permanent.

The mirror casts Brand on those that look in it too long, though it should only last a few days. You take one damage from the spell as well. Please give me a LINGUISTICS check to read what it says.

As Elendra continues to look in the mirror a mark begins to appear on her forehead. The hieroglyph is clearly ancient Osiriani, and it appears to be branded into her skin.

Ancient Osiriani:
Thief!

Scarab Sages

Female Shabti Witch (Hex Channeler) 5

Harmini looks over at Elendra's forehead.

Interesting... It says "Thief!" Shame really, we haven't even found anything valuable worth taking yet. Perhaps we will soon?

I could think of much worse things to say if I wanted to keep people out of my tomb... whenever that day might come.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Oh no Elendra your face! Are you alright? Everyone away from the mirror! Harmini, can you figure out what this says? Chui, get ready to smash it with me. Whoever made this mirror is an a+$@@*!.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

"Thief"!?!Well ok, Elendra you want us to smash it? This mirror marked you so it's your call.

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

I'm going to try an experiment.

I hope this isn't something that I'm going to regret

Chui moves forward to the middle of the room while NOT looking at the mirror or even in its direction.

Moved my icon on Roll20

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

Well, you're looking good...do you feel anything?

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Silly woman, I'm always looking good

great one more thing to add to my growing number of afflictions

Elendra rubs her forehead and angerly snaps her fingers casts sparkon the mirror to try to ignite it

Theif! Really!? Wynrey help break it

Dark Archive

GM:
1d20 ⇒ 2

Elendra's anger surges but the metal of the mirror will not ignite.

Liberty's Edge

Female Half-Elf Unbreakable Fighter/1

I heard brake it, I'm gonna break it!

I slam my shield into the glass several times.

All in all, the worst mirror I've seen. You suck Arkhentai!

Catfolk Ninja Gigolo

Chui sees Elendra and Wynrey working themselves up and grins to himself - "Oh, this should be good!"

You get it girls!

Carefully not looking directly at the mirror, Chui takes a sip of fermented goat blood and watches the Elendra & Wynrey vs the Mirror show.

Dark Archive

Wynrey and Elendra work on destroying the mirror, while Chui and Harmini look the other way.

Chui and Harmini, please give me survival checks now that the focus is not on the mirror and the statues.
