Wynrey starts to stretch then walks over to her mule and pulls out a shovel.
Well, I'm glad I didn't forget this. I can take care of this sand the old fashioned way unless someone has a better plan. Someone should keep an eye out for trouble though, I don't want us all to get caught playing in the dirt.
Hmm, it looks like some amateur tried to open this door with a crowbar, or maybe they did open it and then reburied the door? Why would they do that? Ehh never mind, time to start digging!
Wynrey starts to hum an odd tune as she starts moving the sand.

Harmini looks around for a few moments before she finds a comfortable location to sit. Once seated, she retrieves her journal and inkpen to begin documenting her experiences.
Oathday, 12th of Pharast, 4714, Day 1: We have arrived at the entrance to Akhentepi's Tomb. It was covered in sand unfortunately. The others suggested we dig. What is this "we" dig? Elendra can't be serious. Either way, no matter. Though I am beginning to question her usefulness to the group. I wonder if I might be able to help her with those terrible, badly dressed burns. Sadly, many depend on their "faith" for healing. Her temple must have abandoned her. A shame really, she's such a beauty. The catfolk gentleman has also done very little to prove his worth so far apart from coughing up colorful furballs. Fortunately, Wynrey is doing a fine job on her own. Obviously, she was prepared to handle the manual labor of this expedition. I applaud her enthusiasm toward the mundane...
She looks up at Elendra and smiles.
You may continue, my dear. I am quite well over here. Thank you.

After an hour the sand is cleared and the doors can be opened. It takes a bit of work and the help of a crowbar, but soon the doors are free to open.
This rectangular room is empty save for some engravings and fixtures upon the walls, a pair of heavy stone doors to the north, and an immense stone wheel against the south wall. The air is stale, and a layer of dust and sand covers the floor, lying in a thicker layer to the south. All four walls bear sunk-relief engravings and hieroglyphs, while small stone faces are affixed to the walls at about shoulder height in each corner. The stone wheel to the south is engraved with a large spiral and is set in stone tracks in the floor and ceiling.
The map has changed to the actual dungeon. Here we go!

OK everyone, stay sharp, who knows what could be down here. Best case scenario, its a bunch of dead people. Worst case, its a bunch of angry dead people. Should I go first or should we have Chui scout it out?
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Oh look a shiny rock!
Chui Nyeusi
During the hour it took to dig out the door, Chui "kept an eye out for trouble" in the laziest possible way and killed and ate a sand rat foolish enough to stick its head out of its burrow.
Hearing his name, Chui stood up and stretched. He smiled broadly, displaying his impressive collection of teeth, and slipped quietly into the room. Sniffing as he went, he made his way carefully toward the stone wheel. He glanced at the engravings and hieroglyphs.
Hmmm, that pretty Calico Priestess of Bastet seemed to cry out in Ancient Osiriani the other night. Maybe a few more prayer sessions with her, and I'll start to pick up the language.
FWIW, I tend to go to sleep around 10 pm or so and then get up around 5 or 6 am. Tonight, I'm the on-call librarian until 10 pm, so I'll be hanging out in my office with my computer until then.

Perception: There is no real danger present in the room.
In addition, any one who wishes may make a Knowledge (religion) check and a knowledge (engineering) check.
Talalmackk Chirronna
In addition to the history it also contains a warning.
“Akhentepi’s tomb is well defended, and those who defile it tempt the wrath of the gods.”
“The only thing the Lady of Graves despises more than the grave robber
is the unsuccessful grave robber, turn back while you can.”
Chui Nyeusi
Looks like good old fashioned Osiriani to me. I'm afraid I can't read a lick, but I'll look into some language tutoring when we finish this toss.
Doesn't look like any danger in the room.
Want me to give this wheel a spin?
I'm assuming that it's not kosher to look at other follks' perception and knowledge results, and instead we should wait to have them tell us what they found, know, etc.
Harmini Wakestep
|
Harmini shakes her head.
Yes, of course I can read it. Can you not? Pity... I'm afraid it's not good at all. There seems to be some sort of warning in the hieroglyphs here.
She traces her fingers along the writing as she reads it aloud in common.
“Akhentepi’s tomb is well defended, and those who defile it tempt the wrath of the gods.”
“The only thing the Lady of Graves despises more than the grave robber
is the unsuccessful grave robber, turn back while you can.”
Harmini will take the time to continue reading as much of the walls as she can.
Chui Nyeusi
Chui continues to stand next to the wheel.
SNARL, I was rather hoping they said "Please loot me." Warnings of divine punishment aren't exactly original.
Will one of you ladies be so kind as to shine a detect magic around this room. I'm particularly curious about those small stone faces in the corners.
Chui visually inspects the wheel to see how it might be turned, moved, etc.

Wynrey steps into the room
I've never really been one for languages, I'm glad you got this Harmini, great job. So we know we aren't welcome here and there is only one thing I do when I know I'm not welcome...heh, 'please loot me' that would be an interesting change of pace. Before I grab that wheel like the Tosser I am, are you all sure its not magic or trapped?
Talalmackk Chirronna
Wynrey grabs the wheel and tries to move it as Chui tries to take a look at it. Dust falls off the wheel as it shifts slightly and Chui intuitively leaps to the side. The dust though is all the moves really, the stone wheel weighing far more than Wynrey can move on her own.
Harmini Wakestep

Harmini looks over at Chui for a moment with a furrowed brow.
What's with all the noise?
Please be quieter if you can manage. I'm trying to read this. It is a very interesting story about Commander Akhentepi.
She then returns her attention to the hieroglyphs on the walls.
Chui Nyeusi
Elendra, did you detect any magic?
Harmini, is there anything written on the walls that is useful to us RIGHT NOW!
Wynrey, freeze! Wait until we hear from Elendra and Harmini and until after I give the wheel one last check
Oh my poor head! Angry fathers, crazy women adventurers, strong drink, nubile kittens - I don't know if I can keep up this pace!
Harmini Wakestep
|
Harmini huffs loudly and returns her attention the group as she folds her arms across her chest.
What!? Of all the flea-brained, hair-swallowing, scruffy-looking... calm down Harmini. You can do this. You need their help after all.
Fine. Akhentepi seems like he was a boring man anyway. If you must know, I've already told you what lies beyond for now. Pharasma's wrath and all that. Though you'd be a fool to believe any of it. I certainly don't or I wouldn't be standing here waiting for you to open the door.
I should hope that I don't have to do EVERYTHING myself.
Talalmackk Chirronna
The little stone formation flies over and leans into the side of the wheel. With the little added strength applied, the wheel slowly rolls to the side exposing a room beyond.
This square room is starkly devoid of any markings or adornment. In the center of the chamber’s floor, a square shaft drops straight down into darkness. A faint musty odor rises from the pit. A single piton has been hammered into the stone floor by the northeast corner of the pit, and a dusty length of rope dangles from the piton into the darkness of the shaft.
Everyone, please give me a PERCEPTION check as well as INITIATIVE.
Talalmackk Chirronna
- Stealth 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
- Initiative 1d20 ⇒ 18
Edit: Made some changes, please reread!
Surprise Round. Only one standard OR one move action, in initiative order. Elendra, you are up.
Talalmackk Chirronna
The scorpion moves into the room and goes right for Harmini. It strikes out with it's stinger-tipped tail and raises it's claws for defense.
- Stinger 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
- Stinger Damage 1d3 ⇒ 1
The tail hit Harmini in the thigh but doesn't seem to have done much to her.
Please give me a FORTITUDE save.
Free action to 5 ft. step, Standard action to attack.
Harmini, your turn.
Elendra
harmini are you ok?
Elendra gets ready to help however she can when fire appears in her hand
casts produce flame
what is going on how is there now fire in my hand
instinctively elendra throws the fire at the scorpion saying a prayer to Sarenrae under her breath
