Okay, I know not everybody is a Beatles or Paul McCartney fan, but I grew up listening to them. I learned to sing by singing along with Beatles tunes.

Anyway, I just downloaded Sir Paul's latest single and WOW! I can't stop listening to it.

It's classic Paul -- bright, poppy (in the best sense of that word), catchy and likable, though (like some of his other songs) there's an undercurrent of melancholy or sadness that maybe comes from his age, lost friends, and his current nasty divorce.

I like it a lot, but it does kind of make me miss John and George. John was always the better songwriter, though he was the darker and more troubled one. And George, well.... sometimes I think I miss George most of all.

Wow. I'm the only Paul McCartney/Beatles fan on the entire board? Really? Really really really?

And just so I don't lose all credibility, I'm not a complete sappy pop music sap. My favorite bands are Tool, Incubus and System of a Down.

What? I can't have layers?

I thought the same, Sean.

It's like 45 years of serious output from this guy. Amazing. How can a guy still pull off dressing like a kid and singing a little ditty? Yet somehow he does.

You don't have to rattle off your tough band appreciations, we know you're hard. ;) Nothing wrong with sappy pop songs. I often look like a bit of a convict but I swear to you now I will not change the channel from John Denver or Air Supply if they're on the radio. I've performed heavy metal onstage and recorded many a crunchy song, but what's that got to do with not liking to tap toes to something silly and fun? Hook is hook, baby. Though I recall that when I was 17 and 18, feeling some rather dreadful feelings, I listened to almost exclusively metal, and not the happy dink razzle-dazzle-you-with-my-dandruff kind. One year later and it was on to my Cat Stevens kick. Go figure.

Thank you, Jade. I was beginning to feel a little alone out there.

And yeah, after all this time, the guys can still write a great hook. I've listened to it a bunch in the last few days, and have started describing it as a big audio hug from Paul.

Even if Paul is a little weird (I worked concert security on the Scandinavian leg of his 2002 European tour, and he has a lot of strange stuff in his rider), the man is still a genius. It is a sweet little song - "big audio hug" is a good way to describe it.

Nothing beats his Beatles stuff, though.

That's odd. I though you inflicted heavy metal rather than performed it.

You certainly inflict lead on people, in pipe form.

While I am not necessarily a Beatles or McCartney fan, I do have some odd and clashing taste in music. Such as Marylin Manson and Benny Goodman. I respect your taste, Sean.

I've seen the video & it is a little melancholy but you're right Sean, the song is great. I would expect nothing less from Sir Paul though.

While I haven't listened to the song (if I can listen to it online a link would be appreciated) I am a Beatles fan.

Here's the video, enjoy!

I'm a die-hard Alice Cooper/Cheap Trick/Triumph fan, but I love Paul's stuff, and the Beatles, too (And John Mellencamp and <choke> Loverboy - you may now heap derision upon me).

The new song is cool, very catchy, but Paul looks a little strange in the video. Kinda spooky...

Thanks for the link. I'll watch it when I get onto the library's computers (having dial-up really sucks).
