"Blah, my pretties, blah, and let me nibble upon your necks."
[Cue stares of 'wth' from the party]

How goes the progress with team 'good'?
Has one bit the dirt yet, or kicked the bucket?

Baldrek Zar'Zaron |

No problem at all DM! We need to have challenges and it is indeed an appropriate action for the bad guy... these spells are there to be used on the 'heroes'...
So... any preference on the new PC, guys? Obviously I'm looking for another class with disable device but I'll not make another ranger... it is a rule of my own that prohibits me to create 'baldrek 2'.
It looks like Meurasod and Katara (and more and more Zurka in the next levels) could take care of the frontlines, so I'm thinking about a more stealthy PC.

Mary Dawnrose |

I think Mary might turn slightly grimmer towards people threatening her companions, after this.

Zurka Shadowsworn |

Go ahead and play whatever you want Baldrek.
I also suspect Mary and Zurka may have some conflict as well, since he did not do anything to save Baldrek.
I was torn for a while on what Zurka should do here, and to be honest I did not expect Gorlock to go after Baldrek. I assumed wrongly he would continue to attack Zurka.
At least Zurka has some spells he can use still!

Mary Dawnrose |

I hadn't planned anything of conflict, Mary knows you'd die if you hadn't taken the potion.
I'll look for evil descriptor spells in the future too.

Baldrek Zar'Zaron |

I think I've settled on the idea of a tiefling investigator (questioner) with a dip in gunslinger (bolt ace). My idea is to make him a pretty good shooter with great knowledge and support thanks to his bard spells.
Should I build him with the wealthy of a 2nd level PC as normal, right?

Baldrek Zar'Zaron |

Looking over ammunition, would you allow a bolt version for each 'special arrow' (flight, blunt, etc)? IMO a bow is already more powerful than a crossbow so it would not be game breaking, but it is your call, GM!

Walter "Unlucky" Dorbalk |

DM, I think I'm done with the replacement... please take a look if everything is ok! Follow the link in this alias stat bar for his sheet/picture.
@Mary: I think my flattering days are over... it would be weird if another PC of mine also had a crush on you!

Mary Dawnrose |

Even if one did, Mary would not be interested. :)
That avatar sorta reminds me of the movie Black Sheep, when a human sheep/hybrid is on screen.

Alright everybody, soup's ready!
There's plenty for everyone, you need a good meal to have the energy to crush the wild things and the dangers in the tower.

Mary:
Evil Eye (Su): The witch can cause doubt to creep into the mind of a foe within 30 feet that she can see. The target takes a –2 penalty on one of the following (witch's choice): AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. This hex lasts for a number of rounds equal to 3 + the witch's Intelligence modifier. A Will save reduces this to just 1 round. This is a mind-affecting effect. At 8th level the penalty increases to –4.
For me, it means that a foe can be subject to one and one only hex at a time (except, perhaps, if there were two witches using different hexes). Do you understand it like that too?

Mary Dawnrose |

Errata
Can I use the evil eye hex more than once on a target?
Yes. As long as you apply a different penalty with each use of the hex (AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks), you can have multiple penalties on the same target. Applying the same hex penalty to a target just resets the duration to the most recent use of the hex.
Example: On round 1, you hex the target's AC. On round 2, you hex the target's attack rolls, so the target now has two evil eye hexes on it. On round 3, you hex the target's saving throws, so it now has three evil eye hexes on it. On round 4, you hex its AC again, resetting the duration of the AC-hex (which does not add an additional –2 penalty to its AC). The same thing would happen if two witches were using evil eye on the same target--as long as each evil eye hex applied a penalty to a different thing, they'd all apply.
This doesn't violate the general rule for stacking penalties--each evil eye effect is basically a different source, even though they stem from the evil eye hex (the evil eye hex is much like 5 separate weak hexes under a common umbrella). In the same way that multiple castings of bestow curse on the same target should stack as long as they do different things (penalize Strength, penalize Dex, penalize attack rolls, take no action, and so on), multiple uses of the evil eye hex stack as long as they're targeting different game statistics.
Evil eye is so useful.

OK guys, looking over the loot list it looks like in order to purchase the wand of Cure Light Wounds we will need to sell something. Also I just discovered Zurka has a couple of unidentified scrolls and a potion he is carrying which also need to be identified.
According to the loot list we have a ring of feather fall. Also Zurka has the Horn of Fog here which he can sell as well. Each item individually would easily cover the cost of the wand. We do have some other items that need to be appraised/identified as well. While Zurka likes the Horn, he would consider selling it for the good of the group.
Thoughts?
PS: DM is the loot list current? If not, can we get it updated please?

Zurka Shadowsworn |

OK I added a comment to The Loot list detailing all the loot we found recently. It looks like Katara's player is the one maintaining it.
Katara, can you grant us Edit rights to the Loot Tracker?
As for Balrek's gear (artisan's tools, backpack, bedroll, belt pouch, chakram [5], chalk, compass, earth breaker, flint and steel, lamellar (leather) armor, mapmaker's kit, powder, rope [50ft.], thieves' tools, trail rations [5], waterskin, whetstone 5gp, 3sp, 6cp) most of it looks mundane. Not sure if you just want us to use his gear for Balrek's burial DM but that seems the best way to handle it IMO.
