Felix Sebastian Orlovsky
Dante, don't think I have forgotten about the map. I am trying to finish out this conversation and round of politicking before we move on to the later in the day stuff so we don't have too many convos going at once for me to keep track of
The Great Political Debate Period.
Felix waits and nods appropriately while others speak and listens intently to the tales being told. The newcomers, and in particular the strange foreigner who hides his face from the light of day, peak his interest as they are a new wrinkle he had not planned on. After all have spoken in turn he will stand again and clear his throat.
"To answer a few questions that were brought up, the Kobolds are called the Sootscale tribe. Their leader is one known as Chief Sootscale, and our friends among them are Nakpik the one who brought us to see the chief, and Terquail who fought ably by our side against the mites and against the evil shaman Tartuk. They would probably make for a wonderful group of miners but I am worried that if we allow settlers to mine beside them problems may arise. Less scrupulous men will not hesitate to marginalize them as monsters and one would have to worry about their rights in this new land. I for one will not stand to see them harmed by our success, they are in some strange way as dear to me now as any of our countryman."
"On the subject of leadership I will make one thing clear, whatever we decide we will have to all agree on. If we place myself, or Wilhelm, or the Lady Lanya in charge we must be ready to listen to them. We have become like two halves of a nation our two groups, each one not truly knowing the other. I for one wish to keep my friends together, the five of us work well together and I for one see no reason for breaking up a good team."
At this point Felix the look of a man who is about to tell a boy that his dog just died, lines of worry and a little sadness seem to crease his face."I have given much thought to what we need in a leader during these past few days, a person who is wise but fair, a person who puts the needs of their people ahead of their own, a person who is ready to make the hard decisions if need be. And while I stand before you ready to throw my candidacy in with all the others, I know that I am not up to this task. I do not believe any of us are at this time. All I can promise is that I will work hard to make myself worthy of such a position and work towards bringing about a leadership that puts the needs of the people first and foremost."
Masamura Yoshirou
Yoshirou grins at Dareon."Why that is where my kind comes in."As he finishes speaking he vanishes from sight, with his Hat and Cloak falling to the ground, only to reappear a few seconds later behind Dareon with his tanto touching his back and while laughing puts it away and moves back to where he was and picks up his fallen garments."Sometimes one must embrace darkness to protect light."
Dareon Lebeda
Dareon's body almost moves itself, and as Yoshirou vanishes before his eyes the wizard drops his quarterstaff into his hand and whirls it behind himself so that when the ninja reappears, the haft of the staff is touching the ninja's neck.
Dareon's eyes, formerly bright and friendly, are now as cold as iron. "I get the message you were going for, but to take me by surprise, you're going to have to do better than that."
Turning to face the Eastern man fully, he sets the end of his quarterstaff back on the ground. A smile creases his face once again. "That was, however, quite impressive. What's your name? Mine's Dareon."
Dareon extends his hand, thumb upraised and fingers together, ready and awaiting the interlocked hand.
Lanya Beladon Medvyed
Lanya nods agreeingly as Wilhelm proposes himself as a potential leader. She looks at Dante first and speaks to him, holding her eyes on him.
"My Lord Dante, I beg your forgiveness, I did not mean to offend you. A young nation should, in my eyes, also have a young leader, as young leaders tend to tell people they are different and new, a change of pace from what they know. I recognize your skill in battle and tactical acumen you acquired over the years, and I would be happy to see you as a seasoned general leading our armies when we get them."
She leans back a bit and then leans forward again.
"It is for the same reason that I think Felix and I would not make our best representative now. We'd need a leader that also looks strong and able to defend himself in battle. I'm afraid we are not such a kind of people, but Wilhelm is. I'm content with a place of councilling and diplomacy for us, my proposal for leadership was only because I know the political intrige that goes with it and that could very well be difficult for someone new to it."
"Whatever the case, we should choose now and not linger too long with it, we must present a united front to all, even more so for possible new recruits to our exploring party. Judging from the lot of newcomers to Oleg's, word of our exploits might have already spread to Brevoy. We might expect more people flocking here eventually."
Wilhelm Orlovsky
Sorry if I didn't specifically address you by name/looks(newcomers) but I'm kind of tired. I fell asleep early only to wake up again a short time ago. Now back to sleep!
Wilhelm, tired from giving two lengthy speeches in a short time, is content to listen to the various opinions being raised for a time. Anastacia's quips earn a chuckle and he nods as she mentions the idea of a 'no confidence' vote. The suggestion from the newcomer earns a thoughtful look and, after a moment, a blush. The next series of speakers, Felix included, seem to touch on the same point. We truly don't know each of these other men. How can we forge a lasting bond if we don't know the man or woman who'll be standing shoulder to shoulder with us?
Once Lanya finishes speaking, he straightens again and says, "I think fate has had a hand in setting each of us on our way here. We've the makings of a great venture and as I've said before, I don't think we can do wrong. Lanya and Felix have each made salient points, so I won't touch on those again other then to say they speak wisely. One thing that strikes me, though, is this common thread raised by near everyone who has spoken." Wilhelm pauses to look at each of his companions in turn, "We have become, to some degree, two groups divided. Whoever is chosen leader, it seems wise to me that our groups as they exist should be intermixed for a time while the stakes are still relatively low so we can become acquainted. While our leader may be loathe to break proven groups, it strikes me that a little pain now could save civil strife later."
Bej Vanskian
It is with little grace that Bej Vanskian enters the Trading Post. Poorly kept. Not up to standards… I just bet this southerners are taking forever with the repairs… he thinks looking at the defenses in disarray.
He takes care of his horse first, taking off saddle and saddlebags and letting him drink from the watering place. He pats the beast on the back “Be back soon with some pasture, ah? Be good.” he says as he ties the horse to the corral.
As he passes by Oleg’s poster board, his eyes falls onto the Tuskgutter poster Taking that down would be good work, and make a good meal… that’s a plus.
He drops bags and packs by a bench unoccupied by the large group of what looked like Ouff… so many southern nobles there… let’s hope this doesn’t start a thing.. He asks Oleg’s for a good, warm meal, and while eating reads the other wanted posters, when among the usual boring political banter of the nobles he hears something that stirs his interest.
[...] the large boar, Tuskgutter I believe it was called are also possible problems for new explorers. We might want to handle that before we tell the news around Brevoy [...]
“Hey… hello, you all.” he awkwardly stumbles into the conversation “Couldn’t help but overhear…” he points at the poster “You were talking about that beauty, ain’t that so?” he straightens his shoulders, weary from the long ride south “Got my eye on that too. Seems quite large. If you guys need some help with that, or any problem around – there seems to be plenty, I’ve been hearing folks complaining ‘bout bandits when I was up north – I’ll be staying here for a little while. Bej’s my name, Bej Vanskian – formerly of “Vanskian’s Barreled Fish” in Gofsborg, up north… never heard of it eh?” he shrugs “Well, can’t blame you. Anyway, I’m good with a bow and know quite a few magic tricks myself. If you need an extra set of eyes, just tell me. Bigger groups make for safer hunt, ah?” he tips his coonskin hat and goes back to his bench, waiting for the group to hopefully take him up on his offer.
Vors Garess
Vors nods as Dante speak approving the thoughts behind the words. When the man is finished he mumbles: "Well said."
As yet another strange arrive and is invited to sit he frowns disapprovingly and when he insert himself into their conversation his face turns even more disapproving, saying nothing the entire time.
Vors face once again turns approvingly as Felix speaks mirroring many of the thoughts expressed by Dante.
Almost reflexively his hand finds his dagger as the newcommer performs his stunt. That kind of man," Vors thinks, continuing to be on edge as the conversation continues.
Dante Skyborn
"Ah, my friends you are all men and women of honor, wise beyond your years and humble with your assesment of your own character. I see the strength in our group and we could all make leaders in our own ways, but we will stand unified. I call for a vote, and cast mine first with, Wilhelm who embodies all of the right motivations and posseses a degree of the qualities that each of us value. Speak now, so we may continue onto glory!"
After everyone votes, Dante will take Lanya aside. "Worry not My Lady, I took no offense, I was mearly agreeing with you and withdrawing myself from consideration for sovereignty. My capacity to lead does not extend beyond the battlefield, and that kind of leadership is easy, you lead by example. No man will abandon a general he believes in when that general is willing to stand alone against the enemy, at least that's my philosophy."With a smile, Dante places a hand on Lanya's shoulder and then bows and walks away stating "I must go see master Gress about our defenses."
Leaving the tavern, Dante strides across the encampment until he finds the man, Inquiring about engineering, Dante tries to offer insight.
Knowledge Engineering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Lanya Beladon Medvyed
"My vote is for Wilhelm as well, our adventure has taught he is quite capable, albeit a bit rash sometimes." She adds with a grin.
"No matter, for that is what the rest of us is for, to help him lead."
As Dante approaches her after the voting, she listens to him.
"Dante, thank you. It will do us good to have you around." she says as he leaves.
She then looks over to the newcomers to Oleg's. Well we were a ragtag band to start with as well. I think anyone that helps us in this endeavour might find his or her place in this land. Our land in time. Time to get acquainted I guess.
She walks slowly over to the four and greets them with a simple handwave.
"Greetings my future friends in arms, I apologize for the wait, but we had some important matters to discussand we didn't have the time yet to formally welcome you the Greenbelt. Hereby I welcome you to the Greenbelt, in which we hope to start the beginnings of a new country of prosperity and new chances for all. I am Lanya Beladon of House Medvyed from Brevoy, one of the diplomats this group has to offer. Let's see if I recall your names correctly, you are Bej Vanskian and you are Fhârn, right? I don't beleive you two have told us your names, would you be so kind as to do now?" She asks of Dareon and Masamura
"Though you, sir, have a resemblance about you. I think I've met and dealt with some of your family before I'd wager. Are you from one of the noble houses as well?" she asks Dareon.
Masamura Yoshirou
Grinning at Daeron and the others."Well met, I am Masamura."Turning to the group."You all have only seen a fraction of your current strength mayhaps you, or even we, should head out all together and take on a hunt before voting. I have heard of many a mighty beast roaming these parts. Perhaps one of them would be fitting, say that boar. Kill two birds with one arrow I believe is the term used by westerners."Masamura then speaks to himself in Draconic.
"Why do they insist on being so diplomatic. Just have each person lead when it is in their abilities."
Dareon Lebeda
"Hello," says Dareon with a simple and curt nod. "Prosperity and new chances are quite a draw, and although I came here for the mystery and excitement of the Greenbelt itself, a few of those can't hurt to have."
"My name is Dareon, and yes, I am of the house Lebeda. Do not consider me a representative of my house, although being raised among the Lebedas has given me a useful skill or two."
"I would like to say that I am skilled in the arcane arts, although because I don't wish to give off an arrogant first impression, I'll simply say that I am...knowledgeable in the arcane arts."
Fhârn
"Thank you for the welcome Lanya - and you are in deed correct. I am Fhârn Uðrrúna, son of Theore."
He repeats his earlier unpractised bow. This causes the raven perching on his shoulder to startled take flight and then landing again as Fhârn stands back up. The bird shoots both Fhârn and Lanya annoyed glances for disturbing his vantage point but remains silent.
"No need to stress - I have been travelling for a while and could wait another day if necessary. But my offer still stands - if you need another sword I am interested."
Kertuffle
As Dante leaves Oleg's dining area, he easily spots Kesten. He and 3 of his squad are sitting on a log sharing a flagon. The other two of the squad Dante appovingly notes are standing guard. A fourth man sits with them and from his prominent holy symbol of Erastil you suppose this must be the newly arrived cleric. Kesten welcomes Dante to join, offering his some highly alcoholic brandy and listens with great interest to his engineering thoughts.
To make any real progress, Dante would have to spend several days supervising the construction. If he did, it would shave days off their work. His current assessment, they are fixing the defenses in the following order. Gate - almost done, probably one or two days left. The two ballista's facing the road (the side the gate is on) - 3 to 5 days each. The two ballistas facing south - 3 to 5 days each. If Dante wishes he can change the order they are attempting repairs.
Anastacia Stormwing
Anastacia stands. "I too cast my vote for Wilhelm. As you all could have guessed."
Turning to Masamura she adds. "It's an honor to meet you Masamura, but I must disagree. The issue of leadership, is one that must be resolved now. We are not a lawless gaggle of mercenaries. We have purpose, here in the Greenbelt, and we need strong leadership to accomplish that goal."
Anastacia's demeanor lightens, she had been giving Masamura a gaze that verged on icy. "It's a pleasure to meet all the rest of you as well. Fhârn, Dareon, Bej." Anastacia inclines her head gracefully toward each in turn as she says the name.
"I am Anastacia Stormwing, Acolyte of Pharasma."
Though Anastacia appreciates the usefulness of Masamura's trick, she is unimpressed with his use of it. One, he has angered a potential ally for no cause, and two, he has tipped his hand, now everyone knows that he has that ability.
Anastacia also thinks that maybe Masamura should worry about whether or not, he will be invited to join the expedition, instead of trying to dictate it's policy.
Dante Skyborn
Dante takes the Brandy with and thanks Kresten for it. "It's good to see you run an efficient crew Kesten, if you would finish the gate, then focus on the two westward Ballistae, I doubt we'll have attackers from Restov to the east." Speaking of details for a few more moments and sketching up a quick diagram or two, Dante turns to the new comer.
"Hale, I am Dante Skyborn, of House Surtova. Who are you?"
Kertuffle
The priest nods at Dante. "I am Jhod Kavken, worshiper of Erastil. I have come to the Stolen Lands as penance to my church. As penance to my God I hope to find an abandoned temple to Erastil that I am certain lays somewhere out there." Kesten hands Jhod the flagon. "You'll find it my friend."
Another quest! Find the lost Temple to Erastil for Jhod.
Masamura Yoshirou
Feeling out of place Masamura speaks one final quick saying then with a bow leaves to go venture around and take stock of everything going on."If you wish to speak with me I will be around here. Though I might be scouting the surrounding areas."
Kertuffle
As Masamura leaves he sees the group of people sitting on the log with Dante. (Trying to ease the pressure of two distinct threads going on. Wish I had thought of it earlier)
Jhod shakes his head at Dante's question. "Alas, no. I was the town priest of Milton, not really that far from here on the Rostland Plains, in Lebada territory. I am a damn fine hunter though."
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
The door opens, and a hulking 9 foot tall creature enters the Tavern. It shakes, and makes noises. Then as the light fully illuminates it, it turns into a large backpack with odd bits of limbs and trees and small cages filled with small animals that are making upset noises.
As the eye moves down from the backpack and it's outlandish lashed on cargo, a small young blonde girl in her late teens is seen carrying the monstrous backpack. She smiles brightly and anyone that meets her glance, and shakes the road dust off her boots. She has bright blonde hair cut in a pixieish cut, bright green eyes, and a puckish mouth. Striding over to the bar, she slips the backpack off and sets it down, the heavy thing makes a dull boom as it hits the floor.
"Water! Water! Please!" She squeaks, her voice cracking from a dry throat. "And something in it to kill any bugs please!" She adds as an afterthought, dropping a silver on the bar.
Dante Skyborn
"Fear not Jhod, this will be resolved, have faith. Speak to Oleg if you need anything, food, lodging, or a friend. Perhaps if you fancy a hunt, there is a great boar in the area, you could speak to our group about it if your interest is peaked." With that Dante sits back and clears his mind, sipping the good brandy that Kesten handed him.
Kertuffle
The man behind the counter is taken aback by Sanita's entrance. He pauses a few moments and then evidently decides she isn't going to be a threat. Keeping a wary eye on her he pours some water into a glass and then adds a shot of ale. "No bugs here, little lady. We run a clean place."
I'm assuming that was a very scary description of the effects of your 'Ant Haul' extract. Correct?
Masamura Yoshirou
Masamura finds a quiet and isolated place and uses mundane methods to rearrange his clothing so his armour, that is focused to his right side and chest, is more visible and his Bracers(the Sleeves of Many Garments) to alter his clothing to appear more basic and then he lets his hair loose to fall around his face. The clothing is a light brown color and made dirty. He then moves to the crews and begs to help them work for a little food while putting up an act as a penny-less traveler.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
I'm assuming that was a very scary description of the effects of your 'Ant Haul' extract. Correct?
YEP! Combination of Muleback Cords (+8 Str) and Ant Haul (triple carry capacity). She's stopped every couple of miles to pick up something new, or catch a bug or mouse or something and put it in her pack. :) She added 250 lbs of junk to her pack on the way down. :)
Sanita smiles. "Oh, you'd be surprised how many little tiny bugs exist we can't even see without magic or a the right set of lenses! Hi, I'm Sanita! Doctor in Training! I'd prefer a little alcohol in it anyway if you don't mind sir! Just to be safe. I'm way too excited to be here to be down with Morvark's Revenge for the next week!" She grins infectiously. "Get my guts used to the local environment before I get experimental!"
Kertuffle
The bartender frowns. My name's Oleg, and me and my wife own this place. And I assure you there are no bugs, small or otherwise, here." He adds another shot of ale to the glass and appears to be eyeing the backpack on the floor.
Oleg's claims are greatly exagerated. It is easy to find a bug if you look. But overall for a place outside of civilization it is very clean and those who have slept here have found the bedding to be bedbug free.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
Sanita takes the water, and downs it, her voice clearing up after a drink or two. "Oh! No, not those kinds of bugs, Mr. Oleg. These kinds." She takes a vial out of her bag, and holds it up. There's a tiny bit of water in it, and that's it as far as the naked eye is concerned. "See? I use these in alchemy. They're tiny tiny tiny little bugs in the water, each one is so small dozens could fit on the tip of a needle. But they react to certain things by turning colors. Whatch." She pops the top off the tube, and looking around, she picks up a peanut from the bowl on the bar and drops a tiny piece of it in the tube. The thimble full of water turns bright blue. "See? Sodium. Salt. If I drop something in here and I don't know what it is, I can check the color and see if they changed color. They turn blue for salt, green for arsenic, and red for iron. There's always lots of little bugs like these in every drop of water in a river for example, no matter how clean. They're not dangerous, but if you aren't used to the ones in a given river, they'll make you a little sick at first, until your body get's used to them." She puts the cap back on the tube, and drops the tube in her alchemy kit again with a bright smile and drinks more of the alcohol soaked water.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
Noticing that the locals seem to all let out a breath when nothing explodes. "Now, these are much different." She pulls out two tubes this time. "See, these right here? If I mix these two vials, the result will be a couple of drops of liquid gold, which will harden into regular gold over a minute or so, watch..." She holds the two tubes up, pours the second into the first, and holds the tube up directly in front of Oleg's nose.
Two seconds later, there's a loud 'POP' and the two bits of liquid vanish in a puff of smoke. Sanita grins.
Dantalion
"Perhaps we should journey together before making a decision on who to lead, after all those in Wilhelm's group will select him and all those in Felix's group will select him. We would be right back to where we started with no progress made at all. I say we should find the Stag Lord and take him out as one group instead of splitting up again. Did you get any information from the bandit as to where he is?"
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
After her little joke on Oleg, she winks at him and slips an extra silver to him, smiling as the local laugh at the practical joke. Then she drinks down the rest of her drink, get's another, and begins strolling around the tavern/outpost building, listening to people's conversations without being obnoxious about it, more just trying to get a lay for the land. Anyone that looks directly at her get's a cheery smile and friendly nod.
Bej Vanskian
"It's a pleasure to meet all the rest of you as well. Fhârn, Dareon, Bej." Anastacia inclines her head gracefully toward each in turn as she says the name.
"I am Anastacia Stormwing, Acolyte of Pharasma."
Great, this lass isn't a highborn southerner... just a southerner. Bah! At least that Fhârn fellow seems to be from up north. “Always nice to have a Faithful of the Spire around. Meself, I give my prayers to Old Deadeye, and I’m damn happy to have someone who wishes to keep dead things dead.” he says showing a very simplistic way of thinking about Pharasmins.
“I gather you folks had quite an adventure down here, ah? Bandits and whatnots. And kobolds, I heard? Never seen one of those, just tales from Old Man Greg back home. May I ask what your plans for the future are, Miss? Seems I got a bit lucky running into your group when coming down south, I’d sure hate to waste the occasion to participate in some fine adventure!”
Rowan Gideon
Rowan sits quietly through the rest of the gathering. When all the newcomers gather around after the private conversation, Rowan approaches Oleg and asks if he could prepare a large meal for everyone. Soon after, a young miss approaches the bar and starts speaking of tiny bugs and then pulling a clever trick.
"Miss, what brings you out to these parts? You're not traveling alone, are you?"
Lanya Beladon Medvyed
Back when first talking with Masamura
Lanya looks on intrigued as he starts to speak Draconic to himself. Then as he turns to leave she explains to him back in Draconic.
She then continues to talk with the others still remaining close to her.
"Well met Dareon Lebeda, I know your House well as I used to make many trade agreements on behalf of my House. It's good to see another practised man of the arcane arts, though I'd have to admit my performance of them might be a little crude to the trained eye."
"And well met to you as well Fhârn, son of Theore. Well I'd wager we could use a few more good able hands to lend us their supportin the coming days, weeks, months even years mayhaps. Our first orders would be to clear the area around Oleg's of any dangers and I think I could speak for all of us as I say that you are welcome to join the hunt."
Fhârn
The newest newcomer, a large backpack with a small girl attached catches his eye. The disparity in size between the two aswell as the myriad of things strapped to the backpack provokes an amused smile from Fhârn. "Now that is either magic or the strongest kid I've ever seen." Still smiling, he turns his focus back at the conversation at hand as Munin the raven tucks on his ear.
"Pleased to meet you Anastacia" he pauses briefly "Now, I have always fancied myself more of a craftsmen then a hunter or caretaker. Thus I usually direct my devotion to the creative side of Nethys or" Fhârn pauses and winks "- in times of monetary shortage, Abadar."
As Bej continues on to the topic of adventure he nods in agreement. The raven migrates closer to Bej and studies him. As he finishes the bird turns it attention to Anastacia, seemingly waiting for her reply. When Lanya offers a chance to join the hunt Fhârn appears visibly pleased. Playing poker with the man could obviously be a profitable business.
"I would be honoured to help you - but from the rousing tale your companions told, it seemed as if most of the intermediate threats have been dealt with. From the poster" he gestures towards the wanted poster for the ravenous beast "I assume we are going bear hunting? Or perhaps the bandits still at large presents a more pressing concern..."
Felix Sebastian Orlovsky
Felix listens intently to the conversations at hand, but his mind is elsewhere when a little slip of a girl walks in carrying way more than she should be able to. The more magic that walks through the door, the more I believe we may manage this after all. They speak of strength to lead and fortitude of being, but it is quickness of mind and force of will that one should have in a ruler. Ahh but there goes Rowan to investigate this new comer, good man. Felix will listen to the others banter on but he is becomes increasingly distracted and distant as he works through problems and ideas in his head.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
"Miss, what brings you out to these parts? You're not traveling alone, are you?"
Sanita had stopped mixing to look at a small flower that someone had put in a pot to spruce up room. She freezes when spoken too, and slowly turns her head toward the speaker.
Her face breaks into a smile. "Oh, hi there. Interesting this, I don't think I've seen it's species before. It looks like a common daisy, but there are more stamens than a common daisy. I wonder if it's a mutation, or a different species?" She puts out here hand. "I'm Sanita, and yes, I'm alone. But don't think that means I'm an easy mark." She warns, patting her rapier handle. "I've dealt with boys before who think that just because I'm five foot five and a hundred pounds that I'm an easy mark. They would testify I'm not, the ones who can still testify, and most in a falsetto." She grins.
Rowan Gideon
Knowledge: Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Rowan examines the plant Sanita was inspecting before replying. "I'm fairly certain it's a mutation from the daisies back home. Several other flowers in the area are the same way. I think it might be a way for them to attract more insects…" he ponders this for a little bit before realizing that Sanita was waiting to shake his hand. "Oh sorry," he says as he laughs at his embarrassment and gives her a firm handshake, My name is Rowan Gideon. One of Erastil's faithful. Pleasure to meet you Lady Sanita. I'm glad to hear that you can take care of yourself, but you haven't told me why you're here. I doubt you came all this way to examine a daisy. Anyways, if you'd like to join my friends and I for a meal, I'm hoping Oleg still has a bit of elk or roast somewhere in the back."
Dareon Lebeda
She then continues to talk with the others still remaining close to her.
"Well met Dareon Lebeda, I know your House well as I used to make many trade agreements on behalf of my House. It's good to see another practised man of the arcane arts, though I'd have to admit my performance of them might be a little crude to the trained eye."
"Sorcery, then! How fascinating!" Dareon exclaims with a wide smile. "I may have to keep a close eye on you, then. I've always been curious about the source and nature of sorcery. Perhaps you could even teach me some things. I've always been a little jealous of those that did not have to study."
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
Sanita smiles. "Well, it could be to attract the insects, or it could be to increase the amount of pollen it can produce. Most likely, it's a combination of both, as it kills two rats with one slingstone." She tilts her head, and nods. "Daddy always said, don't turn down a free meal. Of course, he also said there's no such thing as a free meal." She laughs. "I'm here to experiment and find new medicines and treatments, to make money, and to get out of my Daddy's hair for a bit so his wife quits threatening to back to her mother. So yeah, I kind of did come all this way to examine the daisy, and anything else I can find that might be usable for healing or alchemy."
Rowan Gideon
"Interesting assessment. You are correct, the meal isn't free. An animal paid it's life so that others may survive, and I am paying a bit of coin so that my companions may be the ones to eat tonight. The cost for you though is nothing. Perhaps you'd be interested in joining our venture. We'll be exploring and mapping the region. We've made a fair bit of coin taking out the bandits around here too. Sounds like your family life is a little bit hectic when you are around. Are you from one of the houses of nobility?"
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
"If I have anything to say about it, it's hectic, yes." She dimples, but ignores the question about her house, although her equipment is all masterwork, well made, and obviously of a higher quality than most people have when they first get here. "Well, I will certainly accept the non-free meal, and as to joining ventures, I shall certainly consider it. I do need to procure resources to find a place to live, and to open a research building and alchemical laboratory." She offers Rowan an arm, and then nods at her very large and overly stuffed and strapped onto pack, still sitting on the floor near the bar. "Is there a place I may safely store my pack?"
Rowan Gideon
"I believe Oleg may have a room available for the night. You can inquire with him." He raises an eyebrow at the offered arm but takes it and guides her to the group and begins introductions.
Not sure who all is still around the original discussion group but I'm assuming a majority of us are still here.
After the introductions have been completed, Rowan reengages conversation with the young woman. "You mentioned alchemy a few times, I assume that you are an Alchemist? We had a elven alchemist named Marick join us for a short time. He was also capable of taking care of himself in a fight." He chuckles a little bit, imagining Sanita turning into a raging monster for battle. "What can you tell us about your abilities?"
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
Sanita politely shakes anyone's hand who offers it, and nods at anyone who snubs her by not doing so.
"Yes, I am an alchemist and chirurgeon in training." She looks thoughtful. "According to most people who know me, I am very very good at recognizing trouble, at getting myself into it as deeply as possible, and then getting myself out of it." She smiles. "I can brew up medicine, perform some healing, and generally take care of myself in and out of combat."
Sanita seems to be being honest at all points in her speech, including the comments about getting into and out of trouble. She seems to have a lot of self confidence.
Vors Garess
Feeling things are getting to crowded and that there are to many strangers, Vors leaves his seat and ale and seeks out Oleg. He waits patiently for Rowan and that new girl to speak with the man before approaching himself. "Master Oleg I have a rather special request. Do you think you might be able to secure a special blade for me? It would have to be a claymore, but the tricky part is that a master smith would have to craft it from the cold iron."
Lanya Beladon Medvyed
"Sorcery, then! How fascinating!" Dareon exclaims with a wide smile. "I may have to keep a close eye on you, then. I've always been curious about the source and nature of sorcery. Perhaps you could even teach me some things. I've always been a little jealous of those that did not have to study."
"As you say it is, I've only been aware of it really for the last 4 to 5 years. My first teachers were actually Wizards in Vigil, they taught me how to handle the magic within me. Though they were not as sure as to where my powers came from exactly, I would hazard a guess myself. You shouldn't feel that jealous sir Dareon, though I might have an innate ability for magic, you gained it through discipline. Your future is mostly your own doing, my future is still riddled with questions."
She smiles mysteriously for a moment, before she composes herself again and turns to Fhârn.
"Well it would seem the poster is referring a large boar that troubles the countryside, the bandits have not yet all been dealt with, we cleaned up their hideout near here, however their true leader remains at large for the moment."
Lanya then notices the newcomer, a sweet young girl it seems, though with an interesting backpack and backstory no doubt.
"I beg your pardon, gentlemen, but I see another new face that needs welcoming to the Greenbelt."
She says as she bows, turns and walks towards Sanita.
"Welcome to the Greenbelt miss, I am Lanya Beladon of House Medvyed. I see you've already met our group's druid and lover of nature Rowan. Forgive my intrusion into your conversation, but I'd had to ask how you could lift such an heavy backpack, there must be a special story to it."
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath
Sanita breaks off on her description of her abilities, or lack of description as the case may be, and smiles at the newcomer. She waits a tick for a proferred hand.
She smiles and shakes it firmly but not violently.
She frowns just a touch, puts her hands behind her back, and then pastes on a smile.
"Oh, well, thank you. I am Sanita, Ms. Beladon. A pleasure to meet you. Yes, we were discussing the mysteries of mutations in plants and their direct or indirect correlation to increased breeding performance." She tilts her head, looks at her backpack, and nods. "Oh, yes, bad habit of mine. I would have been here a few days ago, but I can't seem to stop myself from picking up just whatever catches my eye and shoving it into my backpack. Herbs, plant samples, tree bark, lightning struck limbs, fauna samples. I start out with a half-empty pack, and by the time I get where I'm going, I've got another person's worth of weight in it." She laughs, and taps her shoulders with one hand. "Part of it is I have a very handy set of straping cords that help me lift much more than my frame might suggest. Add onto that I buy only the best backpacks, which are designed to allow easy carrying of additional weight. After all, scrimping money on equipment is just a way to commit slow suicide, as my Grandma used to say." The girl mimics an elderly woman's voice that is full of strength. "Plus, as an alchemist, I do know a few compounds that can let me exert more strength than you would expect from my frame. I'm afraid the one from earlier has worn off now, so I'll end up having to drag the silly thing up to my room later."
Masamura Yoshirou
Masamura returns to the group this time wearing what appears to be basic clothing but still rugged enough for travel."Could someone point me to a man named Oleg or Dante? Apparently they can point me to a hunting party?"
He has cancelled the magic of his sleeves and is wearing the base clothing he owns. He looks like this for the most part though with slightly shorter hair.
