Also remember.. we are sill under the action economy of only having 4 players! My cleric follower is not up to our caliber and will not be getting involved in our dungeons crawling if at all possible.
Little known fact. APs are designed for 4 player AND a 15 point buy. Most people assume they are built for 6 players and a 20 point buy. Society Play is where the 6 player assumption and 20 point buy comes in.
I like the way your fellow Indy player put it Silena.

oic... interesting... My group in rotl is currently in the middle of book 5, it's been a LONG trying time running it for them... so much death and destruction, including some character deaths... very lethal ap.

Waiting on a post from you Megan.

It may seem to be a needless formality but Silena~ out of combat ALWAYS requires those accepting her spells or blessings to acknowledge that it is ZON-KUTHON whose power they are benefiting from and at least say 'thank you ZON-KUTHON' when she uses his power on other's behalf. It is not from any enmity she bears... but she is unwilling to use the Midnight Lord's power for those who are not at the very least willing to give lip-service appreciation for his power.
I see it as part of the lord of torment's most simple of power-submission requirements that Silena an non-evil worshipper of his must do. she does not visit cruelties upon those about her ...very much UN-like a normal worshipper of ZON-KUTHON...so she must keep reminding those who receive his blessings without the usual accompanying suffering that it still IS HIS divine 'magnanimity' that is sparing them or being afforded to them.
It is simply a fact to remind all who benefit from her spells and blessings WHO is STILL granting them the power and a simple act of submission and acknowledging that fact is a very subtle but important cruelty~ the minimum Silena must use to keep ZON-KUTHON's Favor.
She does not require such in combat as it would be needlessly foolish to do so.. when her 'sacrament' is inflicting pain and suffering upon her foes she is battling.. and as such an acknowledgement of ZON-KUTHON is not needed in battle.

Ah.. too bad. No problem.. I'll keep that in mind from now on. So no Enshrouding Darkness blessing for Barazata.. she probably doesn't 'need' it anyways.. but it saves a use of blessing for the day for Silena.

Delightful... it makes characters come to life when they really take aboard their faith. I still remember a VERY embarassed paladin engaged in a murder investigation that took him to visit the local brothel! And a ranger whose faith required him to worship at dawn grumbling about it, but there he was every time the sun rose.

Waiting on you, Barazata, to post a response to Megan's layout of what you see. You going in to scout or comming back to report? Right now.. you've not entered the court yards as yet ... if I'm understanding what I'm reading. Are you going to investigate 'stealthily' the hissing noise from the brown objects in the plaza or bypass them to continue your circuit of the compound?
Silena Dulare
Waiting on a post from you megan. Barazata is continuing her scout circuit.

Sorry, busy few days. And I have discovered that I am no longer up to formal examination invigilation. Had to resort to my stash of painkillers before being able to walk to the station to catch the train home :(
So sorry to hear that Megan!:( My mother is also basically confined to a wheel chair and its really hard getting use to having to ...see her like that.

You may not know, but I had a stroke in 2007. I'm self-mobile, but nowhere near as physically capable as I used to be. The only thing I can do with my right hand is touch-type. I have a bit of a drunken lurch even when sober, tire easily, and everything aches if I do too much. Which, as the rail station is further from the university than I can comfortably walk, is most of the time!
On the other hand, I am coping well with my dream job and as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, am starting a PhD. As it happens, my supervisor uses a wheelchair (MS).

Wow.. no Megan...did not know that, I've been playing with you since 2011! My sympathies..
We gonna get a post for Legacy of Fire? :)
Silena Dulare
I do not speak Draconic. Are we close enough to hear it anyways?
If I'm picturing this correctly... Barazata went on a solo scout mission to find out just this sort of info. I don't beleive ANY of us are with her. The Building complex 'looked' abandoned... but Silena did not believe that for a moment... so she asked Barazata to do a stealthy recon circuit of the building through the breach int he wall to find out if there were defenders or occupants. So we did not all bumble into an army of gnolls making camp somewhere around the place.
Whoever threw that javelin at Barazata... somehow spotted her through her take 10~ stealth of 30!! Very impressive and clearly someone we need to know about.
But no... none of us should be anywhere near her...nor does Silena speak draconic.
Silena Dulare
Possibly not, although it was a *LOUD!* shout! How far away are you hiding whilst Barezata scouts?
Well since Barazata when into the the compound and we are outside... likely about 500 or so feet away from the outer wall, since those squares are in 20 feet increments... we're pretty far away from her I'd say!

omg... i hope you're alright and mend quickly -

Leaving on a cruise tomorrow and will be gone a week... will have some limited internet access, but it's never good on board... feel free to bot me as necessary.

Happy new year, everyone!

I get the impression you lot want a fight! So, brawl it is... and I'm going to let you have a surprise round because he hadn't expected people to just wade straight in with no more than a spot of self-righteous ranting!
So, Sonya, Barazeta and Silena: what would you like to do? Actions and rolls, please. Anyone else is, of course, welcome to join in too.
Well ... truth to be told actually no. Silena is not looking for a fight... she's looking to get the Trogs to back-down with intimidation and work with them for the common goal of wiping out the Gnolls. BUT, Silena did not win initiative among her companions... if Sonya and Barazata start violence and the Trog don't answer Silena's intimidation attempt with an immediate sue for an accepting her truce.. ONLY then will Silena open up with hostilities.
She already stated she'd rather NOT waste resources fighting battles that don't..right now need to be fought.
So... effectively Silena is not surprised.. but she is not acting until her 'truce' has been unanimously rejected by both sides. She is forfeiting her surprize... waiting for a Trog reply; so its up to the rest of the party what they decide to do.
Silena Dulare
You mean priest of Rovagug... which is in Silena's opinion far worse than just a priest of Lamashtu! Lamashtu wishes to spread her horrid children into the world to bring fear and horror to civilization... but she does want a world for her children, monstrous though they may be, to actually live in...! Rovagug wants to destroy all life, all existence, all reason; to bring oblivion to all life and unending death to everything that would EVER dare to live! Completely insane!
Silena totally agrees with Sonya's sentiments on that matter she would want nothing better than to kill them all right here and now... but Silena is also practical and pragmatic... if they can be used to help destroy the Lamashtu worshipers first.. so much the better. But as SOON as the Lamashtu monsters are dealt with ... she would immediately turn her attention to killing the mad worshipers of Rovagug!
Which is EXACTLY what she told the Troglodytes she would do. She is hoping on them being insane enough to accept that since it matters little to them who they destroy or the order as long as destruction in the mad god's name is accomplished.
"Worshipers of CTHULHU~ know when Great CTHULHU wakes, he may not eat them first.. he may not eat them last but when he does eat them he might just smile.. and wouldn't that be worth it?"

Waiting on you Megan...

Sorry folks - had some very bad days last week.
Wednesday someone ran into my car in a supermarket parking lot. I'm OK but the car is wrecked, probably beyond economic repair. He and his insurers have accepted full liability, fortunately, so a hire car has been provided at their expense.
Friday I got back into work - and promptly fell flat on my face. Literally. Blood everywhere. Got carted off in an ambulance to the local ER. Fortunately I checked out OK but look a real mess.
Normal service will be resumed shortly.
Silena Dulare
Yeah.. take it easy! Get back to posting when you can! :)
Hijiro
No rush to return... whenever you are up to it will be fine... in the meantime, hope you heal quickly and that they replace your car with a better one ;)

Just a heads up. I am posting this in all my games, so you may see it more than once.
I am leaving for a cruise at 2am on March 5th. I'll be on the road all night and arriving at the ship midday. I won't have internet access til sometime the night of the 5th... For the next 2 weeks, I will have spotty internet (wifi at sea isn't the best), and I'll probably only be checking in at night once a day. Please if my character needs to take action between my own posts, GM feel free to bot me as necessary.
Ship returns to port on March 19th, and I will resume normal posting on the 20th.
Thanks, and sorry for any inconvenience my semi-absence may cause.
Silena Dulare
Is there any chance of us getting back to a at least once a week post?

Everything is just about sorted out.
I've now acquired another car - another Citroen Zsara Picasso, but 2 years younger than the last one & top of the range rather than the more basic model I had before... and I paid less for it than the insurers offered as the write-off cost of the old one :)
I no longer look as if I'd taken up heavyweight boxing either. Even if someone at church said I'd better not say no to the Bishop again.
Now, let's see about some gaming...
