Gorgoron
With an intrigued smile towards Krazok, Gorgoron follows the others, and after mounting, spurs his horse to keep up with the others.
Gorgoron
I think that in tracking, scat refers specifically to droppings, and droppings only. It's unlikely that these creatures are going to leave a trail of scatological tracings all the way to their lair, unless Krazok's intimidation really was that good. The more general term for any kind of trail marking, be it prints, prey carcases, scent markings, or scat, is spoor.
Gorgoron
Sounds good.
Tomas Aldori
Seeing Torq struggling with the dust, he gives it a shot.
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
To no avail.
Gorgoron
"That sounds wise. That many Dragon-kin are likely to leave a mark. Raiding subsistence farms and the like will not produce nearly enough meat to feed them all, so the group will likely be more active that a lone dragon might otherwise be. That should make sign easier to find. If we can find a pattern to their attacks, that will likely lead us back to the den in time."
GM Wolf
Taking a good portion of the day the group comes upon several more sights of where a farm or building is burned down, to a total of 3 locations. Getting to the South end of the area last, just to make sure you did not miss anything, you find a ravine, there is a strange bridge made up of floating rocks. Each rock is about the size of a human. You could attempt to go around the ravine, but there is no telling how long that will take how do you wish to attempt to pass over the ravine?
GM Wolf
Presently the rocks are close to each other so it would be an Acrobatics check DC 5. Thus most if not all of you taking 10 would have no issues crossing. The ravine is about 50 feet wide and at least 200 feet deep. Though it looks like the ravine walls recede under the present cliff.
It appears that Arvangail made it easily to the other side, but with a stone wall on the otherside, it blocks your view after he goes through the archway at the end of the boulder bridge.
Now on the other side you can see elvish writing in the archway, it looks to be a warning, one of the fire breather, shapechanger, and his pet dragon kin. It never names who it is or what it is, except for the 'ever hungerful, despoiler, and spawn of 'HER'.
Past the archway you can see a glade of grass and several fruit trees, they seem to be pear trees and the fruit have a glow to them.
Torq Sharptooth
Seeing she made it easily Torq will follow.. Taking 10 would give him a 19 acro.. I thought you weren't allowed to take 10 when there are penalties for failure?
Edit: The PRD says you can take 10 when not in immediate danger or distracted, so i suppose that would be a DM call.. And you seem to be fine with the take 10 so :)
GM Wolf
I am fine with taking 10 when not in immediate danger or distracted, for many skills, Knowledge seems to be more of a reactionary thing, and what you know off the top of your head, people forget things. If you had a book or several hours to think on it and jot down some notes, sure taking a 10 would be more plausible then.
As Torq begins to steadily taking his time to hop onto the boulders one at a time, they begin to move but not much. Stopping on the boulder he is on makes the boulders stop moving. You can keep taking a 10, but it will take about 5 minutes for you to get across.
Gorgoron
Taking 10 for Gorgoron will be a 13. Are people taking their horses, or leaving them behind? If I bring my horse, leading it of course, its taking 10 value would be a 12.
Krazok Vell Firesource
Krazok looks at the group then at the mounts, "Should I stay with the mounts, I was able to scare them off last time, perhaps again. Otherwise, I can carry one over at a time... well it depends if this is where we are heading."
GM Wolf
Fizzy jumps across and the boulders move much more, but with his nimble and graceful feet he is soon on the other side.
When you get to the other side you can see elvish writing in the archway.
Past the archway you can see a glade of grass and several fruit trees, they seem to be pear trees and the fruit have a glow to them. This glade is about 100 feet deep and 300 feet wide. Beyond the glade is steep cliffs, much like the ravine. There appears to be about a half dozen cave entrances but they are all at least 30 feet off the ground from the glade. Many little waterfalls drop from the cliffs, down the sides to small pools around the base of the cliffs.
Selena the Elfen Feline
"I can stay with Krazok," Selena offers simply without a care. She does an acrobatic dismount from her horse and sticks it.
Selena the Elfen Feline
"Go ahead Krazok, these two will protect me." Selena smiles and pretends to fawn over her protectors.
Krazok Vell Firesource
"Sure..." He chuckles to himself at those boys predicaments if they try anything without her permission. "Let me see how these magical boulders will affect me." He ties a rope to his waist just in case and tosses the other end to the two warrior elves. "Show how strong you can be if I fall..." He tries to use their twitterpattedness to his advantage, just in case.
Krazok waits for Torq, the rest of his allies, and the other elves to get to the other side before crossing. He offers the other end of the rope to those that want to be more secure over the 'bridge'.
Gorgoron
Gorgoron crossed as well.
GM Wolf
Gorgoron crossed easy enough, his feet find clear spots that seem dry, the boulders don't act up at all, in other words don't move.
Gorgoron, you had posted OOC, so I was not for sure if you had done it yet. Also if you haven't figured it out yet, the boulders act differently with different people.
Those still to cross over or have not passed over yet: Tomas, Krazok, Selena, the two warrior elves. Am I missing anyone?
Selena the Elfen Feline
"I will be right back boys." Selena says in her seductive voice, she grabs the end of Krazok's rope, and takes a few tentative steps, then with no movement she skips across to the archway, still holding the rope. "What do we have here Fizzy... interesting... well it looks like you are going to have some fun against something trapped here, likely from Elven magic. That is trapped by Elven magic. Arvangail, Gorgoron, or Tomas should be able to help learn more about it if you find more writing like this... I am going to protect the horses and find a safe place for them nearby, good luck with the dragon hunt." She says then pats Fizzy on the head.
Tomas Aldori
Tomas follows with caution, jumping onto the boulders.
GM Wolf
Tomas goes without the rope, as he gets onto one of the boulders it begins to move, as he continues he find some ice and slips. Reflex save to grab boulder to not fall off the bridge, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20. Luckily his cat like reflexes allows him to grab a ledge on the boulder and find a foot hold.
Selena takes the rope out to Tomas throwing it down to him as she balances on the boulder. Krazok and the two elves are ready to pull you back or to steady you. Selena slowly makes her way back to safe side.
The sound of roars can be heard coming up the ravine walls.
GM Wolf
Presently you are all huddled around inside the archway. Everyone please tell me where you move to, what your actions are, etc.
