Tomas was born the son of one of the younger scions of the Medyved family. Unfortunately, rather than being a lesser noble, poor Tomas was a bastard. His father's family would have never approved of his mother, but the second unfortunate event in his life was that his first day of life was his mother's last. She died birthing him, though that was probably better for him. It meant that no noble would be threatened by her, only by him.
For Tomas's father, he gave him everything he could hope for. A constant reminder of his first love, the only woman he ever truly loved was to be always by his side. Because of this, Tomas was treated better than most bastards and was a claimed child at birth.
This lead his first twelve or so years to be fairly acceptable, by a bastard's standards. While his father had married and had another child that was less than a year younger than Tomas, he was never relegated to the servants quarters, or fostered off. As a child, he was allowed to go on hunting trips with his father quite often and picked up how to shoot a bow, how to track, and how to honor the land from his father.
Unfortunately, a long merchant caravan trip, a bandit attack, and a hidden dagger ended all of that for him. His father's death was his third unfortunate event. It was at that point that he was told what the first one was: being born. His father's wife immediately packed him up and sent him away so there would be no question who the legitimate heir to the family holdings would be. While his father was a lesser name son in the Medyved family, he was still nobility and still had holdings and responsibilities. Both of which Tomas had no claim to, nor did he want, but the Lady of the house did not care what he said. He was sent away. She could not have him killed without serious issues, since he was a claimed bastard, but she could get rid of him. So he was sent to foster and train with Lord Derro, a noble swordlord, who could train him with the blade. It was fitting, because the only inheritance that Tomas received from his father was the sword he carried on his hip and he only received that because the Lady would not have her own sons carry a blade that had failed their father.
Lord Derro trained Tomas beside his own son, teaching them both the blade and a good bit to do with being a merchant. How to handle a sword, a sale, and a sass. Part of how he was trained included how to intimidate people with his blade.
Tomas trained for years, and eventually, Lord Derro passed away leaving his son, Mario, in charge. This worked out well for Tomas, since the two had always gotten along and he could work as a caravan guard, and help with the business. It wasn't until he felt that sufficient years had passed that he could return to his family, with a letter of recommendation from a Lord as to his worth on caravans and his skill with a sword. His younger brother did not recognize him and he was hired immediately, so he could finally help work on his father's caravans, something he had always wanted to do.
Having guarded, successfully protected and helped to lead these caravans several times over the last several years, his faith in his brothers' handling of their father's affairs has been satisfied.
Now he has requested an assignment from the Swordlords as repayment for his training and his upbringing, even though his father's money paid for the actual training. He had heard that there were to be expeditions to The Stolen Lands and had hoped he could get involved on those efforts, to eventually gain holdings of his own, perhaps, and give his father's house a foothold in a new area, because despite all that has happened, he still considers himself a member of House Medyved, even if they don't.

Appearance:
Tomas is a fairly small man, standing just shy of five and a half feet tall. This helps to hide his heritage. When he was working for Mario, he decided that he should try and completely hide his heritage, so he painfully clipped his ear tips and used a heated blade to cauterize the wounds, then had someone heal his wounds so that his ears would scar that way. Now it looks like he has been in a few bad fights, but not that he had pointed ears. His nut-brown hair is kept shaggy to hide this, but not long. He keeps a thinly grown in beard. He tends to be wearing leathers with a nicely worn breastplate and his father's sword is never far from his side.
Gestalt:
Tomas has no concept of what he is going to make his second class, largely because he has never grasped the idea of what is about to overcome him. Having completed the first task, of which he has no doubts there will be many, set forth to him by his uncle, he is going to ask for his uncle's blessing. No idea what that might bring forth. I fully expect for him to get breathed on, his blood to awaken, and his heritage to bring forth a draconic bloodline sorcerer, with the eventual goal to become a dragon disciple. Though, as soon as he gets a feat, it will be going towards him having Arcane Armor Proficiency unless I can find or am given another way around it.
