Yes you need some kind of magical site, magical item, or some special event that would allow that to happen.
Suggestions:
Valisia next time at the Stag Temple work on consecrating the grounds and collect special water that might help the treants grow strong.
Krazok will likely take the scepter and gain his power through that.
Blienka find the unicorn, he likely will lead you to a magical site now that you have taken care of his mate. You can summon him once a week by rubbing the trophy he gave you.

I have been super busy with end of school stuff (work), life (chores), and my puppy. I am sorry for my lack of posting, I should have some time tonight and this weekend. The next week might be just as busy just to warn you.
It seems neither of you have chosen to say that sounds good or if you want to go another route...
Valisia
Its all good here, I am somewhat busy on weekends, particularly in the summer, but I try to squeeze a post in if I can.
Valisia
Starting Thursday Jun 30 and through Wed July 6 I will be camping and not have access to the internet. I won't be able to post.

I am confused as to how many PCs and NPCs we have. Is Selena here in the fort? She was a former companion I think, left about the time I started.
GM Wolf
PCs are you and Valisia.
Ishmeal is a DMPC, he said he was returning but hasn't.
NPCs are Krazok, Selena, Jorne and Krafnik.
Selena was a past NPC who just showed up out of the blue and through the gate. She is now in the fort with you.
Do you want me to try to find more PCs for the game? As you can tell our luck of PCs is pretty bad.
Valisia
More players would be a good thing I think.
GM Wolf
Okay we should start talking about kingdom building as you will soon be starting that...
How much experience do either of you have with that? I will be looking through the module to figure out exactly how it works.
Here is also what I am posting in a new recruitment thread:
We still have much exploring to do and start building soon!
Feel free to come and help out sort out the applicants!
Valisia
I haven't played kingdom building, but I have looked over the rules somewhat before, so I am familiar with the framework at least.
Blienka
|
I am somewhat familiar with it. I have a map I used before to show the hex map. My biggest problem right now is that work has picked up, so I have a lot less time to put it all together.
Pretty much you have three components.
1) Building the town/city
2) Ruling the kingdom (ruler, magistrate, warden, etc).
3) Annexing land into the kingdom (farms, roads, etc).
Someone will need to keep track of it all and someone will need to make rolls to see how screwed up our nation is each month.
I think I got about 12-24 months in one campaign, but don't remember what else we did as the campaign died at about that point. This was also 2 or 3 years ago.
Valisia
I can easily keep track of stuff. I like that sort of thing.
Lady Ansha Saeralyan
Hey all! GM Wolf asked me to come introduce myself in the discussion thread...so here I am! :)
Ansha's an elven enchantress, a childhood friend of Selena, and a haunted woman who needs all the allies she can get while she simultaneously tries to avoid her demon-worshiping family's attention and search out the family's elven roots in the Stolen Lands.

Ansha - few questions.
How do you intend to play CN. This alignment always scares me. I have probably seen it played well once, and poorly to the point of causing campaigns to fail multiple times. I as this as Blienka is NG, but is a monk so she has some more lawful tendencies.
What class would you Gestalt into?
Lady Ansha Saeralyan
I don't intend to play Chaotic Neutral as 'Chaotic Evil by another name,' for sure. I've seen CN played poorly as well, and I like to think that I play it properly (i.e., she is "an individualist first and last, who values her own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom," as the CRB puts it).
The long of it can be found by looking through DM AK's Sargavan Saga, where the character originally debuted, and which is sort of in limbo. The composition of that party was similarly Good-to-Neutral, with one NG character, one CG, a couple of Neutral, and my Chaotic Neutral. For the most part, we got (get) along fine both OOC and IC.
The short of it is that Ansha has a healthy sense of self-preservation. (In the Sargavan Saga game, one character--the cleric--noted of Ansha that, "I feel the burden of keeping alive and healthy, but for some reason I fear much less for you, perhaps only because you are clever enough to leave the rest of us to our fates if it is the only way to preserve your own well-being.") She doesn't go out of her way to help others (most of the time, though she has had her moments of heroism), but she definitely isn't out to hurt anyone.
She's also quite capable of 'playing nice,' which is good, since she has lots of enemies lurking in her past. She needs friends and allies, and can't go around alienating people simply for the heck of it (as I've seen some CN characters do). That in mind, she's not likely to abandon allies at the drop of a hat, though, as the quotation above notes, she knows when to cut her losses.
As for gestalting, she'd go mesmerist. The class's buffs and debuffs complement her enchantment spells too well not to. If it's allowed, I'd probably try to go into the Enchanting Courtesan prestige class from Inner Sea Intrigue, also.
Javell DeLeon
What's up, folks? As Ansha said in her first post in here(Hey, Ansha!), GM Wolf asked to me post up in here.
Here's the fellow I submitted: Kriger. Ranger/Barbarian is the plan for him.
He was in a KM game a looooooong time ago and funny enough, he was a replacement pc in that one. Funny enough, he came in on that one at 3rd level. And if you all are in book 2 that means you've already whupped up on the Stag Lord.
Man that dude kicked my butt bad. I went down TWICE in the battle. Thanks to our resident healer, he would heal me and get me back in the game and I'd go right back after him. Man that was one of the worst battles for me.
It was a fun one though! Lasted about 14 or 15 rounds I think? It was a heck of a battle.
Well, that's my story for this guy. It's the only game I've ever played him in and I haven't played him in almost 2 years and he still has the most posts of all my pc's. Man that's crazy to think about.
Anyway, I've got to call it a night. Been on vacation this past week and it's back to the grind tomorrow.
Will answer anything you want to know as best I can tomorrow evening.
Javell

There should be a total of 6 applicants coming in, we will pick 3 to join now and then the others will be warming the bench in case a person drops out. If you are on the bench check out my other games and let me know if there is another you would prefer to join. Thank you all and I hope for many posts to come shortly.
Lyj
Alrighty, here we go. You can, of course, find my initial pitch for the character over here, and plenty more details can be found in the profile, but I'll strive to get the gist across here.
Lyj is essentially a power-mad spellcaster with dreams of unlocking the full potential of magic, thus achieving ultimate power - but he is also thoroughly convinced that the best way to achieve that goal is not by building a tower in the wilderness and creating increasingly dangerous minions, but by playing along with the rest of society. He believes that proving oneself useful, even helpful to others is the best way to build a proper support network and thus increase your own ability to pursue your goals; if he wasn't a near-emotionless inconsiderate egotistical jerk, he would probably go way out of his way to charm everyone he met as best he could. His schizoid tendencies have a fun effect for me as a writer; namely, he behaves more Lawfully than almost any other character I've ever had, causing far less trouble than plenty of Chaotic Good characters I've run, while using some entertainingly creepy doublespeak, deadpan sarcasm, and malicious undertones to his inner monologue. One of my favorite lines I've written describing his personality/alignment is, "He's not Good - he's just done the math."
To that end, he's become something of a part-time investigator for hire over in Absalom (despite his Issian origins, Absalom has the greatest library in the world), ingratiating himself with law enforcement on the premise that directly assisting the law was the easiest way to prove that he was on their side. There are a couple brief stories at the bottom of the profile that help outline his previous investigations. Once he heard about the Stolen Lands and the opportunities abounding, he began to keep tabs on what was happening out here with an eye to carve out his own little piece. He waited to head out himself until a group gained a foothold, reasoning that it would be more efficient to join a partially successful group (that'd be y'all) by showcasing his talents to them rather than starting his own. It's a risk, still, but an acceptable one for the potential gains. He also may have caught wind that one of the mysteries he was investigating in Absalom (see That Which Should Remain Hidden in the profile) might pan out here in the Stolen Lands, and he would relish the opportunity to hunt down the lead.
Mechanically, he's an Arcanist, with an emphasis on Enchantment and Divination magic (to assist in his activities with the law, mostly), but he's pretty obsessive about learning as many spells as he can. When running the character previously, I've had a tendency to burn through gold pretty quickly scribing new spells (until I can afford a Blessed Book, anyway). He also will be putting a fairly heavy emphasis on the Counterspell and Spell Disruption abilities in the Arcanist Exploits; he would never admit it, but he absolutely hates to be outperformed by other spellcasters and so endeavors to undercut the work of rivals whenever possible. He would gestalt into Alchemist (Mindchemist archetype) as a fairly natural extension of his studies into the nature of arcane magic, a need for more options for defense in the form of bombs (so as to use his magic for more important things like research) and a desire to become even smarter than his already genius-level intellect through the strange art of the Cognatogen. Whether or not he's mastered those secrets yet is of course up to our friendly neighborhood GM.
For me, the ultimate definition of Evil is pursuing your own desires regardless of the impact on the wellbeing of others, and Lyj is, at his core, extremely selfish. He just believes in playing the long game, and people who are indebted to you are more likely to be helpful at the crucial moment.
As the kingdom building gets underway (which I love doing, by the way), I think Lyj would latch on to the position of Magister pretty hard. He'd have almost no desire to get involved in the minutiae of running the kingdom entire, but he would be good at it, and being responsible for a burgeoning country's magicians would suit him down to his bones. He would gleefully fling himself into furthering the education of the entire country (especially its wizards, of course), in the hope that more minds able to actually apply themselves would both irritate him less on a day-to-day basis and possibly even prove themselves useful to his ongoing research into the Unified Thaumaturgic Theorem.
One thing I'm still working on - I'm starting to scan through your game with an eye for any NPCs or PCs that Lyj could know of or interacted with in the past, but there's an awful lot of material there, so bear with me while I comb through.
That should do it for a brief rundown, I think - any questions?
Jenya P.
Hey all. I'm another one of the tier 2 invites requested to post. Like Javell, Jenya here was a late addition to an old Kingmaker game that petered out. Story of these boards sadly.
Anyway Jenya is one of the first RPG characters I've ever created and I'm fond of her. Even though gunslingers can be mechanically kinda rote (they're mid range damage dealers and that's kinda it) the Desnan flavor and theme Jenya has fleshes her out pretty well and give her a bit of a ranger feeling in terms of survival. It should be really hard for her to get lost in the great outdoors under a starry sky and that love of the outdoors, ability to navigate, but still having a respect for civilization (she's a gunslinger after all with an alchemist store owner mother) makes her a really good frontier settlement character for Kingmaker. In my opinion of course :). The restriction on gunslingers in other games makes it hard for her to even apply for other games so I'm thankful for just the opportunity here to flesh her out again even if I don't get picked.
I'm really excited by the prospect of gestalt too though. I was thinking of deepening her Desnan side and give her a heck of a lot more out of combat utility by becoming an inquisitor of Desna. In combat inquisitor and gunslinger go together well too. It fits not only for Jenya as a useful addition to an adventuring party but as an eventual part of the ruling council when we get to kingdom building. I see her role as a wandering law person dedicated to keeping the roads safe for travelers and traders. A nice combination of wilderness and civilization again.
Speaking of kingdom building. You can look through Jenya's history and you will see that I was pretty enthusiastic about going through the pretty dense kingdom building rules to boil down the possibilities to the few options that could be taken at least at the early stages of kingdom building. I'm no guru at those rules but I enjoyed the whole 'should we build a barracks or a church' kind of discussions that can come up.
In terms of personality Jenya is enthusiastic and wise beyond her years but she is pretty young and not looking to be a queen or whatever so she's well suited to giving a firm opinion but still deferring to the group if a different decision is made. She's NG so of course that's the kind of kingdom she'd like to be a part of building.
Sorry for the information dump. I have a bit of insomnia at the moment. If there are any questions please let me know :).
Albinius Ap Medvyed
Hi, another of the Tier 2 invites requested to post.
Albinius is a somewhat atypical druid in that his interest in the natural world is far more academic than spiritual. He wants to learn all he can about nature, both for the sake of the knowledge itself and to make people's lives better. He is heavily inspired by the Victorian ideal of an explorer as a gentleman and a scientist but with a dash of social reformer thrown in.
For these reasons I would really love to play in a Kingmaker campaign as I feel that he would fit really well with both the wilderness exploration and kingdom building parts. Personally I am really excited about the roleplay side of kingdom building and in character discussions about the kind of society we want to create. Likewise Albinius would also be excited about this but would prefer more of a backseat advisory role to one in the spotlight
Mechanically he's a Wild Whisperer Druid 2 (Druid with Inspiration) / Alchemist 1, and would gestalt those two classes when the opportunity occurs. He quite a good support character, with the ability to heal and a broad range of skills and utility spells but is somewhat less optimised for combat at this moment.
Fritz Lodovka
Howdy!
It seems I've been invited to this private tea party to perform for you. Such privilege!
Allow me to present Fritz Lodovka. He was a martial instructor for the house, but there are those out and about who may have a touch more skill at arms than he. His main draw was, as a cleric of Gorum, his spirit was beyond reproach. While he provided great training, it was not quite the best money could buy for combat maneuvers; however, he more than made-up for that deficit with his insight into the "meta-game" of battles as it were. Think "Art of War" or, for those with a more modern taste, some of the resolutions offered thus far in Game of Thrones (haven't seen the show, but I've read most of the books), such as with the Freys.
As a half-orc, he was birthed in a contentious situation in the Hold of Belkzen, and it was there be embarked on his path following the Lord in Iron. His rescue from that area led him to view the teachings in a rather unorthodox fashion, however; while Gorum prefers raw strength in a fully open combat, Fritz prefers the "meta"-victory to win at all costs. He would lose battles to win a war, and it would not be out of question for him to use underhanded tactics to achieve success. He views the opportunity offered in the Kingmaker line as one such mechanism towards achieving glory in life, willing to abdicate his role as an instructor to do so.
Mechanically he is a cleric, though I waffled whether or not to make him a cleric or an inquisitor, the latter due the way he pushed the envelope with how he manifests the will of his god (he's not popular with the rest of the clergy he met in adulthood). I see him providing support via healing and offense through his blade. Due the lack of book-learning in his upbringing, his weakness is lack of the knowledge of the inner workings of many different areas of study in the world; he judges their usefulness by their effects he can see. For example, he would feel a trained medic makes a great healer, but the implication such a person had trained for a long time and thus had patience and discipline would probably escape him. While he might aid the party in swordplay, the party may need to help him with implied messages through clandestine wordplay. While a mechanical weakness, I believe this adds to Fritz's depth of character and may make for some entertaining situations!
Criticism is welcome from GM and players alike.
Thank you for allowing me to submit my proposed character here, and I appreciate your time!
GM Wolf
Thanks Javell good luck in your games.
We had a few decisions to make and I am going to bend to let in 4 players. Remember if you don't get in now you can check out another of my games or wait for an opening. Albinius, Jenya, Kriger, and Lady Ansha you have made it into the game. Please take some time to connect each other. Figure out how long you have known each other or others in the game presently. If you want to come in as is that is fine and join gameplay with some imagination, please send it to me for an okay before doing it though.
Thank you all and good luck on all your games!
Albinius Ap Medvyed
My character could be introduced quite well by coming across him camping somewhere and him offering to share a meal. After hearing what's going on he would be happy to help.
Jenya P.
Is the group at the Stag Fort right now? It would make sense for Jenya to be heading in that direction to check things out. Her background has her finding out the news of the Stag Lord's death. To speed things along it could be that she meets Albinius on the way and they decide to travel there together.
Albinius Ap Medvyed
All travelling and arriving together sounds good.
Aurora Blackrose
Now I plan on doing a group rendering like this one I did for a KM that died.
But to make it I would need some good descriptions of the characters,
and it should include; Height, Hair color/style, Eye color, body shape/type, clothing/armour style (where possible).
Now I'll be using a Height Ref to confirm that I have the looks, clothing and heights right when I make I make the group render.
Aurora Blackrose
For those wondering what I am using for the renderings, I'll be using Daz studio. And right now Daz is Having a genesis 2 sale*
*(%50 off for one 60% off for 2+, +16% for Platinum Club members)
And I don't know How long it'll last.
So if you want to try Daz Cheap, this is a good opportunity though having a Platinum Club account for the sale can make them even cheaper.
Recommend Platinum Club and picking up a Pro Bundle (20 to choose from) or two and any add-ons including "Morphs Bundles" that catch your eye.
Some items are even $1 as a Platinum club member
Short list of Examples of what is available are:
(linking to pro bundles or bundle coving most of it when there are many optional bundles or individual items covering that topic):

I've started working on the Character Renderings.
Fritz's rough draft is done.
Started Working on Jenya's rendering, but I don't have the duster, the bandoliers, and some of the other clothing pieces she posted.
I have the following, which I think are close to what she is looking for;
Sheriff
Nomad
Vigilante
Austrani
So I'll start on Albinius next.
