The man cries out in pain and drops his bow then tries to retreat, "I give up, I give up!" In his hysterics he jumps/falls out of the tower onto the sharp poles that make up the wall below, unless Quince takes him out with an AoO.

From the map, Angeus is right next to one of the thugs...she'll attack him :)

Racing along the gangway, Angeus come across one of the thugs firing arrows down up her friends.

She leaps forward with her rapier.

Round 11

Quince is able to take down the crying bandit, he does not move anymore, blood seeps from the wounds from Quince's attacks.

Kevros gets into position...

Angeus:
You were left behind by Saren after you worked together to dispatch the archers and thug. You are low in health and he left you to take the long and safe way back. So Round 11, I have placed you for your double movement. Round 12 act freely.

Kevros lines up the shot but Dovan's armor protects him. Dovan strikes at the burly man that just came into combat afraid of what he could do and strikes his heart with the rapier, dealing 16 damage, dropping another of your company. Katrina misses with her bone blade.

Kevros takes the quarrel out of his crossbow and drops it at his feat, grabs a new one from his pack and...

Dovan does not like how things have turned out and bolts for it, tumbling as he goes, he tumbles past the group and below the horse.

She misses her AoO on Dovan and begins to focus on what she is now as opposed what she had become.

She comes off her high and the magic starts to fade, she diminishes in size and drops her blade, she moves to heal all her allies and begins calling upon nature, she channels it's brilliance.

As the footsteps fade and Tristan hears the whisper, he clenches his right fist and grabs the man by the shirt ready to punch him.

What do you care bandit. Long as you get paid right? My business is my own, but if I have my way you will need to find a new profession or die on my sword.

He looks around quickly to see if any are close by to have noticed the display.

I let myself be taken. I want to find the base of opperations. My friends will come. We will soon reunite the Stag Lord with that Kessel woman he asked about.

Round 13

Quince arrives just in time to see Dovan fail to move away from the gathering foes. He makes a desperate swing hoping to stop the fleeing man in his tracks.

Poor Dovan

Quince clips Dovan as he moves obviously doing harm but not dropping the man completely. Quince sees an agitated Scram and calls out an attack command.

Scram turns nostrils flaring in frustration at the chaos that has been raging around him with no foe to strike at. He unleashes the fury of hoof and tooth.

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
hoof: 1d20 ⇒ 15
hoof: 1d20 ⇒ 2

Bite Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Scrams wild kicks miss the mark but a vicious bite hits the mark.

Quince looks around to see if the fight is indeed over.


Tristan:
The man doesn't like your tone or words. He brings his mailed fist down hard on your head, doing: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 damage. There are a few men within 30 feet but most seem to be dragging behind by about 60 feet.

Kevros gets his crossbow loaded in time to see Dovan drop and the healing channel come from Katrina. He keeps his bow aimed at Dovan and ready to shoot if he moves.

Combat seems to be at an end, then the large oaf sits up and sees Dovan down, he mumbles and speaks in simple words, "No hurt, I no hurt!" He leaves the great club on the ground watching your group, likely hoping to stop.

Dovan quickly gets up provoking Quince and Scram again as a bolt shoots down at him, which misses.

Even if they miss Dovan is at his 2nd pictures position, not even out of the gate yet.

Saren looks at the scene unfolding around him now that he is concious again. He yells out to the others, "Let him go, he will be a good meal for my friend."

He gets up while collecting his weapon. Ready to defend himself if the large man decides to go hostile or worse.

WTF, 1d6+6 I'm all about the scene playing out but I'm not letting this guy just hit me. With no attack roll or anything. If the attack goes through Tristan will act unconscious again. As he is outclassed by whatever this bandit is.


Tristan:
Some times I roll with an actual die, especially for side things when a character is by themselves. To sate your indignition I will roll it here.

Round 15- I don't think I have ever seen a combat go 15 rounds.

Quince takes off at a run bouncing past Angeus and out the gate. If he gets away he will warn the Stag Lord and Tristan is dead if he is not already. He takes several lurching steps and brings down his mace as hard as he can. Letting loose with a grunt as swings.

The big man stays seated where he is, then listening to Katrina moves a bit a ways off leaving his club behind.

Katrina tends to the wounds of Nightwing first, calling to everyone, "Once you are done bring everyone, including the horses and the dragon inside if he will come. I will expend two channels, the last of my magical healing. Either make sure the bandits are dead or move them away from me."

He sits down beside Katrina and asks, "How bad is it?" Indicating how Nightwing is by opening his hand in the monk's direction.

Then as if he just remembered something looks to Angeus as she comes up, "You still standing I see, though get over here and just take a rest. I will start taking care of things."

With that Saren tries getting up but he is exhausted and simply falls back to his sitting position, "Well I guess I overexerted myself."

Ah I see. I have a dodge and a deflection bonus. Deflection is from the Ring of Protection we found. Holly crap these guys have a +8 bonus to hit.

Knowing he is outnumber Tristan feels it best to escape while only the one guard is here.

Quince grabs Dovan's body and starts to drag it inside. Surveying the ground in front of the gate for blood gore and signs of a fight.

How obvious is it.

He nods in understanding to Katrina. He looks to Angeus "You okay?"

When he is standing near the others "Are trading survivors for Tristan or unleashing hell when we see the Stag Lord."

Kevros yells down,

"Quince, nice wallop on Dovan! Saved us from a swarm angry bees for the time being. Everyone ok, down there? I am going to make sure the guards up here are dead and then keep watch from the towers."

Kevros runs all the tower guards through skulls to make sure they are dead then searches them for loot. After he searches them, he throws on one of their cloaks to make it look like he is a tower guard but before he does that, he warns the others.

He also sees how many crossbow bolts he can recover.

"Kevros, you served with a military unit, any tips to prep for the Stag Lord's return other than using the towers to shoot at them and close the gate?"


Tristan:

Yes, the leadership is hefty. Your group likely should have accomplished some more exploring before attempting to take on the Stag lord but like all the other games I have done it happens.
You might want to add that ring of deflection to your gear then.

Round 2

The man draws his steel and sets himself to strike the man before him down. Though his sword glows at the hilt and he stops mid stroke, staring at the sword.

"Run!" He yells at you and stands in the way of the others.

The other men seem to be laughing at an unspoken joke then realize that he really was calling for them and the strange sight that is to beholden now. The Stag Lord speaks up, "Draw your bows and take him down. Akiros as well if he gets in the way."

For Tristan, Perception DC 12 and K Religion DC 5:
Iomedae's symbol is upon the man's sword and the sword looks to be stylized to be a paladin's broad sword.

The signs of a fight outside the gate are not too obvious and with a few more minutes of work it should have no signs except maybe to a ranger.

Kevros has a lot planned and gets to work. He recovers two bolts and sees that the guards where using bows. So there are many arrows around.

Perception DC 25, in a tower or on a wall after about 10 minutes, for Kevros at least.:
You can see the group of bandits returning and they seem to be in pursuit of someone. They are about 300 feet away.

The dragon stays outside and seems to have hidden itself somewhere.

After the channels the monks feel much better and get the horses in and to the side of the ruins. They get to work moving the bodies of the bandits and the owlbear inside into the likely spot where the owlbear was being kept. Once done they return to the front weapons drawn.

Once the bodies of their foes are dragged away and the monks come near with the horses and right before Kevros goes back up to loot the guards and keep watch she expends her last two channels. She shakily sits up and holds her hands above her head, "Mother nature please be with us, grant us your healing and a blessing for the coming battle, may we be able to protect our own and make this place better for all."

"First of all, do we want to stay here to allow the injure to heal and Katrina to rest for both injury and to regain her spell casting strength? If yes, lets reinforce the front gate at the lock with a beam, log, or whatever to across the pull bars or handles." Then Kevros rubs his chest, "The Stag Lord is pretty strong, we should also reinforce the gate with other logs, beams, or rock making it hard to knock over and push open. If we have time, dig a small ditch in front of the door and place spent arrows or punji sticks in the pit just in case the Stag Lord army has the same idea as we do, and jump over the gate. Then look for any weakness in the wall and reinforce it! We probably do not have much time to make major preparations so doing as much as we can, will have to be good enough. We probably should also have stations of water everywhere to put out fire for the wood structure."

He quietly says, "stop antagonizing him and RUN!" The last word is much louder and he begins to run himself. He moves to get obstacles between them and the archers. He holds his shield up the best he can to defend from the arrows if they stop but for the most part he is sprinting as hard as he can.

He catches his breath and begins to pull out the arrow heads, he then tiredly says, "I was looking for my death, and what do I find a sign and a martyr." He smiles at you and says with a chuckle, "Sorry about the lump I gave you, but your words stung true. Maybe not as you intended but they worked, what's your name, I am Akiros."

The bandits seem to be slowing but still follow. Akiros makes sure to stick to the path that gives them cover at your backs.

Kevros shakes his head, "We don't have time to dig a pit, let's do the following starting with the most highest priority." Kevros pauses, "Priority one, is to secure the gate from breach and from being knocked over. Next, let's throw debris down on the ground so if someone is thrown over or jumps over the gate, they have obstacles to slow them down or break their neck. This is a lot faster to deploy than a ditch with punji sticks. And we can clear the debris faster if we need to open the gate or gates." Kevros pauses and looks around, "We should recognize any weaknesses in the outer defense structure and be ready to move forces to that location at a moment's notice." Kevros looks around, "Anyone who can shoot a bow, grab a bow and some arrows. Also, let's place water barrels next to the wooden structure to quickly put out any fires." Kevros looks to everyone, "Anyone have questions or suggestions to share?"

"One thing to add, those who do better in melee be ready to fight hand to hand, and those better in range, should be range. We divide the forces evenly. Range focus fire on one target and assist melee if you are precise in your shooting and they are having a problem. If that is only me, then I will assist melee and the other range focus fire targets not in melee with our melee fighters."

Kevros looks to Quince, "You probably should bring our remaining horses in, blind fold them, and calm them. Or perhaps we can use them, to separate up their forces like that stupid horse that got in our way with Dovan and Auches?"

Quince gathers the horses and collects his Crossbow. He spends some time around the outside of the gate hiding aspects of the scuffle.

Kevros responds to Quince, "They had bows."


The fort is in a bit of chaos as everyone jumps to follow Kevros' plan. The horses are already in, Katrina wanted to include them in the healing just in case. Though they look like it would be good if they were calmed. Something to think about Quince. Auchs the big man goes and collects pails of water and starts putting them around the fort. The monks start collecting furniture and such and bringing it to the front. The front is secured with the large log and the other items placed in a jumble at this side of the gate. Kevros and Saren look over the engineering of the outer wall for weakness.

K Engineering DC 18:
You can see three spots that are weak but the bandits probably don't even know they are weak. If you had a couple hours you might be able to fix them but it is good to know that those are weak spots.

The two monks stay near the front gate. Everyone please move your avatar where you want it. Also describe it here in gameplay. Katrina and Nightwing are in the back room as she tends to him with her ointments and non magical healing abilities.

Before long Kevros sees in the distance two men running towards the fort, they seem to be going the long way around to the front walkway then the gate.Though before they get to the walkway the two dozen bandits that ambushed you this morning come, apparently chasing the two. The stag lord is easily seen in the bandits number.

Saren gives a hand placing the large log on the gate to secure it shut. Then he leaves the collecting of items to the others he looks over the walls quickly and comes back to say, "Kevros the walls look secure enough they might be able to squeeze an arm through but it seems secure. I will be here with you, ready to move down to melee if needed."

He has a cloak on from likely another of the bandits.

He pulls out his MW Composite (+5 str) Longbow. As he tries to string it he seems to be having some trouble but after the third try he secures it. To give a justification he says, "Still hurting from those spiders. Damn venom."
