I have a vague idea as to whats going on but I will do my best to keep up.
I listen to the plans. "Take them out little at a time. I am good with battlefield control and can definately support the more warrioresque members of the party. I am not bad with a bow if needed as well."
Damen Medvyed
I'm taking it as understood that Svetlana cast light on some little stone or something and gave it to me or Brigid, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
After securing his buckler to his belt and tucking away their magical source of light, Damen nodded to the others. "Good luck to all of you. I think we'll see each other again soon." He raised his hand in farewell and followed Brigid into the forest. As he did so, he touched her shoulder periodically to make sure they didn't get separated.

With all you preparations completed the group moves down the worn track towards the bandit's camp. The sleet/rain has tappered off, leaving the ground slick. The trees and bushes all are covered with a thin coating of ice, and it seems even colder now than it did when it was raining.
In the dark it takes you about 30 minutes to move to your 'jump-off' point. Brigid and Damen head off into the forest to skirmish with the enemy, the magic light safely tucked away. The res of you move a little closer to be ready to take advantage of this distracting ruse.
Ok, anyone want to do anything else before the battle starts? Casting of spells, or whatever? This is your last chance to ready anything before the fighting starts.

Ok...here we go!
Brigid and Damen are able to get into position on the far side of the camp. The place is quiet and the fire in the clearing by the stream is out, however there is a feeble light coming from the main camps cook fire. There are a number of figures sleeping about the camp.
Please make a Perception roll (Brigid and Damen only)
Brigid auf Whitehelm
Brigid touches the arm of Damen and shakes her head no. This was too easy ; she doubted these bandits could settle down so quickly after losing four of their number.
Most like, they set up some dummies hoping to draw out a second attack.
Brigid waits, watching closely for signs of movement in the figures, or listens for snoring or other sounds.
Svetlana Orlovsky
Though unfazed by the cold, Svetlana peered ahead in anticipation in the moments after Brigid and Damen left. The lack of activity concerned her, but she had to assume that either the camp was abandoned when the two saw it or they were delaying their actions for the right moment. The priestess frowned looking around at the night sky, tamping down a moment of wistful thinking. Darkvision must be a lovely thing to have in times like these.
Ulryk Lebeda
Ulryk crouched down, one armored knee in the muddy earth as he did his best to be hidden in the damp, cold forest. The darkness was all about him and he could barely make out the figures of Svetlana, Kent, and Leorn so close at hand. He had his bow out, with an arrow at the ready as he waited in silence. He kept his mouth shut, with a scarf wrapped over it, to hide his breath - though he suspected the darkness did more to hide his presence then any of his own feeble attempts.
Damen Medvyed
Fakes here... would the bandits expect an attack at the blind again? That seemed too obvious, but it was easy to talk himself round to the thought. The clever thing to do would be to have a sentry up high and then the body of bandits waiting to ambush anyone who entered the camp. What he'd give for an illusion to send in!
He leaned in close to Brigid, speaking, as she did, barely even a whisper. I'll throw the light into the camp, we can watch the trees for a sentry.
Leaning away for a moment, he nocked and arrow and studied the trees around the camp while waiting for Brigid's answer. Maybe he wouldn't see anything... or maybe he'd spot a sentry early.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Damen Medvyed
The tree looks like it's 60-70 feet from our position, which means the sentry (or whatever) is within one range increment for a longbow. Does that sound right, Daniel?
Brigid auf Whitehelm
I throw, you shoot.
She grabs the glowing stone from its covering and throws it in the direction Damen pointed, then quickly nocks an arrow. Daniel, not sure what the range increment is, but a thunderstone's is 20'. Feel free to make adjustments if that's not right. Thrown object: 1d20 + 6 - 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 6 = 13

Your throw was a little off, but still the glowing stone bounces and lands near the centre of the camp.
As this happens Damen, you see the figure in the tree move, as if tracking the flight of the rock. You fire your bow rapidly, but maybe too swiftly for the first arrow flies wide of its mark, however the second is true to its mark! A loud grunt can be heard and then a shadowy body falls to the ground from the tree.
Your surprise round is now over.

Others outside the camp-
You suddenly see a bright light moving rapidly into the middle of the camp. Then there is a loud groan and a thump, like something heavy falling. I need initiatives rolled now please, from everyone (I did not see Damen of Brigid's if they rolled one yet)

Kent Unsaid
initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Any way to tell if the light comes form a magical source?
knowledge Arcane: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
spell-craft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Ulryk Lebeda
Ulryk doesn't say anything, save for a low grunting sound in agreement and a nod that Kent likely could not see in the darkness. He placed one hand quickly on Leorn's shoulder, to signal him to send out his dancing lights, then put his hands back to his bow.
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Daniel Stewart

Ok here is Initiative for the combat:
Bandit 4
Kent
Kessler
Leorn
Bandit 9
Bandit 2
Bandit 8
Brigid
Damen
Bandit 3
Bandit 1
Bandit 5
Ulryk
Bandit 6
Bandit 7
Svetlana
Just about ready with the map and then I will start the round...sorry for the delay, RL and such slowing me down a bit...should get this going ASAP
Daniel Stewart

well need you to say it on your turn :-)
The spell will take effect on your next turn. Ulryk at that time you will gain +2 to strength, -2 to dex and -1 on attack and AC due to size increase. Your weapons also increase in size, so you will need to remember to increase the damage dice.
Leorn
Sorry for the delay. Was at school and then had to see a chemistry tutor. All those conversion formulas are harder than snot to remember.
Okay, I do not see my position on the map. Where is the enemy and are they lit by something, light torches, something. How close would the nearest foe be.
I'll post my action once I now, I may have missed it somewhere so anyone can tell me.
Damen Medvyed
Looks like the closest bandit, #4, is 105' away using straight lines, but you'd have to pass the wagon and cross the stream. I think there's a light source (our light stone) near the northernmost stump by me and Brigid, and maybe a feeble light from their firepit, but that's it.
Daniel Stewart
|
No they do not have any light,; the only sourse is coming from the light spell on the rock Svetlana threw into the middle of the camp, the the dying embers of the camp fire. I sort of cheated and let you see the locations of all the bandits...
So the dancing lights helps all the players see where the bandits are (no more -4 for darkness on your attacks!!)
Bandit #9 moves forward following Kessler
Bandit #2 moves forward and takes a wild shot in brigid and Damen's direction
1=Svetlana, 2=Damen 1d2 ⇒ 1
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 2 - 6 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 6 = 13 MISS
Bandit #8 also reacts to Kessler's call and runs right up to Damen...
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
...and does not see him or Svetlana.
Next up is Brigid, then Damen.
Svetlana Orlovsky
Ummm....I think you confused Svetlana and Brigid a couple of times in here. Svetlana did cast light on the rock, but one of Damen or Brigid threw it into the camp. Also, I'm assuming that the "wild shot" was at Brigid, not Svetlana. All correct?
