Lou Kasuri
Lou seems a bit confused for a second, as he tries to understand what has just happened but then the sudden attack on Ish.
That isn't right Lou says as he rolls across the ground in some sort of odd stance like a cross between a monkey and a turtle. then with the speed of a snapping turtle Lou strikes out

Reacting slowly to the creature, another wound dripping blood across his torso, Ish mentally berates himself. He drops low, gripping his sword and drawing it with lightning precision-- aiming for the monster's vital points.
Challenge!!
Iaijutsu Strike!!!!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (6) = 13
Iaijutsu strike means my AC is now 11/7/10. Hope this at least hurts him.

What kind of knowledge would we roll to identify this "thing"?
Kaaji looks perplexed about everything that just occurred, unsure as to whether it was necessary to kill this "halfling". The tengu speaks up slightly, "Kaaji doesn't know if we should have killed this threat or should have just incapacitated it. Maybe it could have given us information or insight, Kaaji wonders. In the least Kaaji believes it best to look around this shack for supplies or further clues before we continue after the larger goblin threat we were sent after." The ranger makes his way towards the shack, if his fellow companions listen closely they can hear him muttering something about oni spirits.
Liera Mvashti
"What is this thing?" Liera mutters, leaning over the dead creature curiously.

Ish gives Kaaji an incredulous look, as if he's about to say something, but reconsiders. "Sorry, Kaaji. I didn't think of that. Probably should have taken it easy on him."
Sheathing his sword after flicking the blood off, Ish puts a hand over his wound and grimaces.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Liera Mvashti
Liera notices Ish's grimace and gasps, one hand flying to her mouth. "Oh! You're hurt! I can help..." She walks over to him, stumbling over the corpse at her feet, and places a hand aginst his wound, head low. She whispers a few words in that same strange, rolling tongue, heat and red light spreading from her hand, almost unbearably hot - and when she pulls it away, the weakened flesh beneath it seems to have mended completely. She glances up, blushing slightly, before turning her attention back to the corpse.

Liera turns in alarm. "Did anyone else hear that? That thumping sound?" Seeing the blank expressions on her companions' faces, she adds, "There's a thumping noise, coming from the top floor... I think. Um, maybe we should look into it...?" She keeps her eyes to the ground, as if ashamed of making a suggestion.
Fenra Andosana-Sovark
Fenra cocks her head trying the hear what Liera heard.
"Den ákousa típota... Allá kai páli, tha prépei na dierevnísoume. Poios thélei na páei sto anatrichiastikó spíti próta?"
Seeing companions looks of confusion, Fenra sighs. She motions to the door, to the party, and back to the door.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 Does Kaaji notice anything as well?
The tengu snorts in some fashion, "Try using brain before action sometimes, like Kaaji does. Kaaji was trained in special ways though that you don't understand." As they are tending to Ish and Liera gets spooked the ranger readies an arrow in his bow and takes aim. His purely instinctual reflex is quick and sudden. Once Kaaji realizes that it is not an immediate threat he shrugs and lowers his bow then nods to Liera and Fenra.
Liera Mvashti
"You hear it too, don't you? I'm not going crazy?" Liera pulls Speckle from her satchel, clutching the rabbit close. It's evident she's embarassed at having to speak up. "I can go alone, if need be... but I want to know what it is."
Kaaji Ebonbeak
|
"Yes. Kaaji hears sounds. Purposeful, maybe? Or hiding?"
Are there any windows or stairs on the outside? Or do we need to progress to the interior stairs? IF there are windors, Kaaji will most likely make a change of plan and use a grappling arrow for him and one other to approach the top floor while the rest go inside... if he thinks it is safe.
"Boy and smelly, enter door first. Lady Elf, wait and go after. Kaaji and curious one in back." The tengu gestures to Ish and Lou first, then Fenra, followed by himself and Liera to make sure they understand him. Then Kaaji puts his arrow back in the quiver and shoulders his bow. He draws his scimitar in one hand and then flexes his empty had, showing that he actually has sharpened claws. Quietly, he makes his way to the door and waits. Listening for any further sounds or movement.
Kaaji Ebonbeak
|
"Yes, Kaaji knows this. Sword-boy. Would it be wise if Kaaji shoots grapple into window? Two can easily go up that way, while rest go inside and upstairs? By the sound, we may be fighting evil spirits. Kaaji thinks they are reanimated." It is obvious the ranger is more focused on the quarry at hand than Ish's complaint. He asks the question trying to guage how comfortable the group is with fighting together.
GM, do you have my favored enemy down as Human or Undead? I swear I had changed my sheet before to reflect undead to correspond with back story, but it says human. Either one is fine I guess, just checking with you.
Kaaji Ebonbeak
|
Okay, that is what I figured. We are going with that. I think I might have changed it by accident when messing with another ranger build for a separate character and just got the sheets mixed up.

Kaaji drops into a slight crouch and puts one finger in front of his beak and looks at Lou. The tengu grips his scimitar firmly and stands on the side of the door. He makes a quick hand gesture pointing at Lou and Ish and the ground in front of the door. In the solemn silence following the thumps ceasing, Kaaji moves his free hand and opens the door slightly. Enough that he can peer in for any threats before he motions for Ish and Lou to enter.
Liera Mvashti
Liera stays near Kaaji, eventually coaxing the rabbit back into her satchel. "Stay safe," she whispers, though whether it's to the rabbit or the group in general is hard to say.
GM Lugos
As Lou enters, his eyes scan the room, he spots a small Halfling, face down on the ground. A low moan leaves him, and slowly his head turns to Lou. A small amount of blood can be seen trickling from his mouth. An arm stretches out towards the monk before flopping on the ground. "Help... Help..." He groans out as his eyes begin to close.

With the others gathering around to help the halfling, Kaaji draws back his bow and aims at him. "Careful, Kaaji thinks this could be trap. Or another fake. Kaaji does not trust this one." The tengu watches warily and looks back to the outside quickly to see if anything is hoping to catch them unawares.
Fenra Andosana-Sovark
Looking up at the tenju, her frustration visible, Fenra says, "Anexárti̱ta apó to poios eínai, tha boroúse na échei tis schetikés pli̱roforíes. Kai gia na párete tis pli̱roforíes pou prépei na eínai se thési̱na milí̱sei."
Fenra shakes her head. Points at the halfing, mimics talking, and points to her own head.
Lou Kasuri
Lou watches the interaction not understanding the language.
What she is trying to say, is she has a headache because we all talk too loud. see her elf ears are big and they hear everything.
There translated to Halfling (or is that gnome?)
Liera Mvashti
Following Kaaji, Liera watches in shock as Fenra manages to stabilize the little man. "I... I think she might want to hear what he has to say?" she meeky suggests to Lou. To the halfling, she adds, "Yes, it's dead. What was it?"
GM Lugos
The creature before has been speaking in Common.
The Halfling looks at the odd man who just spoke, shaking his head slightly. "I think I can relate, my head is poundin' like I been drinkin' for a week. Been holed up for... I guess two days. Three? That thing jumped me as I tended me snakes. Was just gettin' ready to feed Vipsy when it came a-boundin too-wards me. Had me on the wall real quick, tryin' to eat me. But I've a trick or two, and managed to hole up upstairs after Vipsy nipped him good. Blasted thing been bangin' round makin' enough racket to wake... Well, you can guess."
"And what was it? Haven't a clue save not even a mama could love it's face."
He slowly rises, though still week-of-knee. Grinning through the pain, he looks up at the folks. "Walthus Proudstump, Warden of Brinestump, snake handler and occasional fisher too. With you all takin' care o' that, I suppose I oughta thank ya. Here, help me make the dinin' room manageable..." He hobbles over into area G2, picking up knocked over chairs and setting them near the table.

The ranger waits outside idly as everyone goes about helping the halfling and entering the house. He nods to Liera to follow them inside and stands at the door. The tengu's keen eyes scan the surrounding woods for any threats as his mind assesses the area's defenses and possible routes of escape or retreat. Kaaji remains outside when Walthus beckons them to help in the next room, a vigilant watcher.
GM Lugos
Clutching his side, the Halfling nods. [b]"Yes, lots worse. Alright, you lot sit down, I'll put some tea on the fire and let you all have a cuppa. So, besides saving me, and I thank you again, what's a gaggle o' folks like yerselves doing in my swamp?"[/dice] He grabs a large (by his size) teapot and fiddles with a small stove in corner.
