He turns to look down into the pit where Greyston is cut and bloodied. "Grey needs help. I could pull him out but he'll get cut badly. Sapphire, can you fly down there?"
He walks the perimeter of the clearing to make sure there are no other fey around and then moves to search the dawn piper's body.

Greyston! The pit will not last very long, a minute or so and then you will rise up.
Are you ok? he shouts down into the pit
| Greyston Fenris |
As the pit rises up Greyston looks around. "Looks like you didn't need me after all, i'm ok few cuts but i've healed most of the damage." He moves to treat any wounds. "Is everyone ok? This place keeps getting more and more crazy why do you think she wanted the hunt? It must be really powerful. "

Sapphire staggers even as her blade runs the Dawn Piper through, she drags her sword free of the body and sits down heavily upon the stone plinth.
I have the biggest headache...
She stands as Corum requests help with Greyston, her face a mask of concern, but even before she is able to take to the air again, the magic of the pit lapses and Greyston returns. As he notes about not being needed Sapphire shakes her head
We all help in all the ways we can, my sword would be useless without my hand to wield it, and that hand could not wield it without your assistance. That thing was slain by all of us together.
Her eyes are bloodshot and her muscles still tremble slightly from being right in the middle of the fae's magic.
If you could offer healing that would be good
she smiles hopefully.
So we should press on, limited magic and all that!

There is a sudden fluttering of wings from the trees west of you. Elleros, the cold seeping into his old joints, is the only one who doesn't notice as two massive, horrific bird-like creatures erupt out of the high branches.
These creatures have a stag's body, a hawk's wings and talons, and the head of a slavering wolf with a rack of sharp antlers on its brow.
Surprise Round - all but Elleros may act
The creatures swoop up into the air, their shadows falling over Elleros and Del at the back of the party. The cruciform shape melds and shifts and it looks as though their shadows merge with those of the wizard and crossbowman!

Nasrin and Del to act
These are perytons. Savage creatures of nightmare, perytons combine the features of stags, wolves, and great birds of prey. Though vicious beasts, perytons possess all the intelligence of a human. Perytons hunt any creature weaker than themselves, but prefer humanoid prey, as they particularly relish the taste of such creatures' still-beating hearts.
Their antlers are especially deadly and can cause horrific wounds (threaten a critical on 18-20) often killing their prey and ripping out their hearts in one fell motion. As a free action they can mark their prey with thei Shadow Mark ability which merges their own shadow with that of the victim, making them far easier for the peryton to track and kill (think of it like a Ranger Favoured Enemy but they can choose who they do it on as a free action). Any creature attacked who bears a Shadow Mark must make a save or become frightened

Not having heard of perytons before, Del trusts Greyston's assessment with a wild arch of his eyebrows. "Me? Marked? Whatever for?" Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 = 14 I think i'll just turn him in to something that doesn't need to roll
Gres
A tanglefoot bag is a small sack filled with tar, resin, and other sticky substances. When you throw a tanglefoot bag at a creature (as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 10 feet), the bag comes apart and goo bursts out, entangling the target and then becoming tough and resilient upon exposure to air. An entangled creature takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be glued to the floor, unable to move. Even on a successful save, it can move only at half speed. Huge or larger creatures are unaffected by a tanglefoot bag. A flying creature is not stuck to the floor, but it must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be unable to fly (assuming it uses its wings to fly) and fall to the ground. A tanglefoot bag does not function underwater.
| Del Drinnar |
Del winces briefly as the peryton's antler catches his left shoulder, but he turns with the blow and only suffers a minor gash. Whispering softly to Ruby and begging her to find her marks, he shoots Greyston a nod and quips, "Good idea!" as he brings his trusted crossbow to bear once more.
