Hey, is Amanda/Darla still around?
Also, loot table updated. If you want to claim items, you should do so. The hobgoblin's loot was pretty good.

Sister Ismene |

I've sent Amanda a PM. Her main alias is still active, so hopefully we can get her back in.

I have been hella busy with my own Play by Post and real life campaigns at the moment. The Dragonlance Age of Mortals game is taking a huge amount of my gaming focus at the moment plus numerous other RL games and events. I am not sure I can balance this game with my other obligations at the moment.

Leedwashere |

I understand. One of the reasons I recruited high was to account for an instance or two of this happening without having to go through another round of recruitment as a result. Some things naturally take a higher priority to others, so there's no hard feelings from me if you want to drop out. The last thing I want is for a game-for-fun to become a source of stress :)

![]() |

Yea, I think I want to drop out. I've got too much on my plate at the moment to balance this game and the other games i'm playing and running.

Muziel Moreau |

Same here. I'm sad that the sinister seven will now be six.

And then there was one (Asmodean). I still like the Seven Deadly Sins theme.

I'm going to be traveling from Sep 11-24 with limited internet access. During that time I may try to post on rare occasions, but you should generally feel free to bot any actions you feel would be appropriate, even if it puts Muziel at some risk. Don't hold back!

Penelope and I will enjoy having you for dinner and drinks.

Sister Ismene |

GM, I just want to say that you're doing an absolutely marvelous job with these NPCs!

Sister Ismene |

I was taking a look through the Monster Codex. Apparently hobgoblins are gray and their skin tans green? I guess I have to start calling them something besides greenskins. Orcs and goblins having a wide range of skin tones means I've got to come up with more creative slurs.

Leedwashere |

Well, odds are that most of the hobgoblins Ismene has encountered has probably already tanned green by the time that she's seen them. So depending on whether or not her hate has caused her to research them in depth to know their weaknesses, it probably makes sense that she would only know them as green and might not have any idea that calling them 'greenskins' isn't comprehensive. Or, instead, if she does know it, she could be choosing to call them that to annoy them through mis-information (a lot like Zaggar constantly calling Ismene a man) :P

Sister Ismene |

Oh, Zaggar was trying to be annoying. I just thought he was stupid.

Sister Ismene |

I've just realized that the Seven Deadly Sins theme is straight-up Demon territory in Pathfinder. Oh well. It's not like Ismene's a particularly good theologian.

Leedwashere |

So a lot of the structure of this book is free-form and event-based at this part. Major events happen more quickly the more "rebellion points" you accrue as a group, and because PbP is a slower format to begin with I'm also condensing the time scale a bit as well. For the current day, however, there's a bit of downtime to interact with the town, Razelago, Ingoe Zoags, or whatever else you might want to do, either individually or as a group. This can take as long or as short as you guys decide you want it to.
Also, at this point, I'm becoming forced to assume that Nikolai isn't coming back. Just in case that changes, I'm going to play around the assumption that he's stubbornly remaining at the Arch and Lark performing rather than write the character out altogether. I'll say, however, that Festus is under orders to provide some assistance as necessary within his ability during this time.

Penelope Dorn |

Sounds good, sir. Penelope will just hang around Muziel, thinking none of us should be wandering around alone. Maybe another bath, she's going to become spoiled on the things.
Yeah, Nikolai is probably gone. Hopefully he's okay. If he is okay, it's pretty crappy to bail without saying so. I liked his poems though.
Are you going to invite anyone else or keep us at 4?

Leedwashere |

I think I'd like to keep it with these 4, since there's a good dynamic and rapport going on. Because of losing the two 6-level casters, it makes for a very unusual party construction, but I think it should be OK. I can shift some of Cimri's skill ranks to UMD to help compensate, too. I hope that Ismene and Kolaiah check in soon, they've usually pretty active so sar. I don't know if this is hurricane related, perhaps, but I'd hate to lose them, too.

Kolaiah |

I'm always here!
I'm in Northern Virginia. We got lots of rain, no flooding and very little win. Folks further along the coast got hammered.
The recent back and forth talky talky isn't Kolaiah's strength, despite his having some skills for it.
As we go on in levels, I'll be able to heal myself more, Penelope too probably.
I could, in theory, do a Life Oracle/Oradin thing as an antipaladin, since the Life Oracle's healing is just healing, with no indication it is positive or negative energy based.

Glad to hear you're safe. Also, Death Oracle! Or maybe it's Unlife Oracle? No idea on how effective it is, but the concept is pretty cool!
Among us, Koliah is by far our best social interaction guy based on the skill bonus. I would've expected some sort of spiel about protecting Longacre from horrible hobgoblins and werepigs! Or he could just sort of stare down people and expect them to fall in line.
I plan to have Muziel take a 1 level dip in Arcanist. The goal is to allow Muziel to craft more easily and learn Detect Magic so that he can actually identify magical things. As a side effect, he'll be able to use some Arcanist wands. The question is when to take the level. I kind of want to wait until Level 4 because the third level of Arcanist gets an extra d6 in Electric Blast damage. But I might just get it next level to supplement our spellcaster shortcomings.

Penelope Dorn |

Penelope could pick up persuasive next level and some ranks in diplomacy. Also spellcraft and knowledge arcane are class skills for her, just wasn't going to go that route till magic came.
Otherwise she's going to stick to bloodrager.

Sister Ismene |

I'm still here. I decided to pull Ismene out of the scene for a little while to give her time to decompress. I'm not going anywhere, though.
Will spellcasting be an actual requirement for progress through the AP?

Leedwashere |

My natural inclination when people haven't posted in the social interaction type scenes is to slow down enough to make sure that everybody gets an opportunity get their interaction in without it racing too far ahead and leaving people behind. With that in mind, it would be helpful going forward to give me a heads up (whether by an IC or dicussion thread post) when there's an interaction where you feel you don't have anything you want to add. That way I know it's intentional and I can keep moving things along at a normal pace, hopefully bringing it to a point where you want to jump back in a bit faster. I wouldn't want anyone to start to feel left out because the scene they didn't want to be a part of was taking extra long compared to others. :)
I don't think that access to high-level magic is really required in this AP. Some aspects of it will be a bit more challenging without it, but nothing should be impossible to accomplish, and some aspects of it might actually be easier with the entire party being full-BAB or targeting touch. Additionally, with the party split between positive and negative energy healing, the antipaladin can probably go a long way to keeping the Dhampirs healthy while the others will get more mileage out of any regular healing consumables found by not having to split them as many ways. Between that and the availability of Infernal Healing, which works for everybody, I think people shouldn't feel forced to multiclass unless they want to. Because the current party construction is rather outside the box, though, I think it's probably best for everyone to take a moment to improve their point-buy to 20. That should allow a little bit more freedom to perhaps expand into other areas that aren't feasible on a 15 point buy to help make up for being down two characters with lots of skill ranks.
Finally, another discussion I want to have regards Cimri and her role within the party. While she's a major NPC in the first book, the rest of the AP is written agnostically of whether she sticks with around or not. I'm not really a fan of the GMPC in general (and I've been trying pretty hard to keep her from straying into that territory), but I know Sister Ismene has pretty strong ties to her in character. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Muziel Moreau |

Woohoo! Thanks for the 20 point buy! As for dipping into a caster class, it was something I've had in mind for a little while. I'm considering using the opportunity to take one of Nissa Wilmore's cats as a familiar. But we'll see how that goes over.
With respect to Cimri, once she's no longer plot-critical, we could offer to let someone on the boards play her. Give them some flexibility to re-work the build and see what they come up with. I like Cimri and would gladly see her stick around.

Penelope Dorn |

I vote that Cimri can stay, she's part of the group. Usually I've only seen a gmpc being a problem is on the table, taking up more time than needed, or becoming overpowered. Not something I see you doing.
Plus she can always be a means of pushing the story along.
20 POINTS! WooHoo is right!

Sister Ismene |

Understood! In the future, I will be sure to communicate that. I'm sure it will come up again at some point, since I have a tendency to dominate scenes Ismene is in, and I want to give the others opportunity to hold the spotlight.
I like Cimri, and I'd vote to keep her regardless of how we go about it. If you as the GM would rather not have to keep track of a party member in that way, that's understandable, but if you're simply worried about overstepping certain boundaries with a GMPC, that hasn't even remotely been a problem so far and I don't expect it to become one.
I'm comfortable with the 4 PCs plus Cimri party that we have and don't see any particular need to recruit more. However, if we do decide to add to our ranks at some point, I'd vote that we consider applications from the original recruitment before opening a whole new recruitment process. I know that, as a player, I'd love to be considered as a back-up for campaigns that I wasn't selected for.
I'll update to 20 points shortly. While we aren't leveling up yet, I do have a question pertaining to that. At character generation we were restricted to certain sources owing to you understandably not wanting to deal with mechanics you weren't familiar with. At what point, if any, would it be appropriate to submit material from outside those original sources for consideration going forward?

Leedwashere |

Thanks for your understanding, everybody. It seems that the majority would like Cimri to stick around, and if people have been fine with the way she's been run so far I'll probably stick with what's been working so far. (Though the idea of inviting someone to jump in and take her over is intriguing, and one I'll mull over between now and the end of the book.)
At what point, if any, would it be appropriate to submit material from outside those original sources for consideration going forward?
Now that things are pretty well settled, I'll take a look at it if you give me a link to what you're thinking about. I can't make any promises that I'll give it a green light, but the prospect of expanding the allowed materials to ones I'm not already familiar with is a lot less overwhelming when it isn't in conjunction with sorting through dozens of characters at the same time.

Muziel Moreau |

I went through the Loot Tracker and made some executive decisions about what to sell and what to distribute, based on who I thought could use the items best. If you have any objections, speak up!
Cimri: Blue Whinnis, Potion of Cure Light Wounds x2
Ismene: Potion of Bull's Strength, Alchemist's Fire, Potion of Cure Light Wounds x2
Koliah: Alchemist's Fire
Penelope: Masterwork Longbow, Arrows x20
Muziel: Caltrops, Smokestick, Potion of Cure Light Wounds x2
Notable sale items: Masterwork Light Wooden Shield, Masterwork Warhammer
Total gold from loot and sales: 1,008.1 which divided 5 ways is 201.62.

Muziel Moreau |

Muziel updated to 20 point buy! Turns out he wasn't that terrible a student at the Egorian Academy; he just lacked focus.
+1 Wis (Total 12)
+3 Int (Total 14)
New Languages: Draconic, Elven
New Skills: Heal, Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (planes), Spellcraft

Sister Ismene |

Sister Ismene updated to 20 point buy.
+1 Str (18)
+1 Wis (15)

Penelope Dorn |

Good choices Muziel. Penelope much prefers hitting things up close, but the time may come where that is not possible. Thank you for the work sir!
Penelope went
+1 dex (16)
+2 int (12)
+1 chr (15)
Varisian as the language (her mom part part such)
skills, intimidation +1, diplomacy +1

Muziel Moreau |

I think we're selling the wand of shocking grasp.
As for the +1 Cloak of Resistance, that could go to anyone. Muziel passes, since he's less often on the front lines. Who wants to stake a claim?

Muziel Moreau |

Okay, I sold off the wand (120 gp, or 24gp per person), and accounted for the proceeds. If you didn't already add the gold from earlier, please add 228.02 gold to your character sheet, and I'll close out our current loot sheet and start a fresh one. This includes Cimri, so she can gear up as well.
