So what you're saying is that Titus is going to be front line melee.

Ok, titus gets dibs on the first scavenged gun. Something big, that goes boom!

I have 10 thrones to spare towards a laspistol for Titus. Start pooling the wealth guys, we only need 50 more (extra 10 for one charge pack)

Simms can lend Titus his pistol no problem.

ALISTAIR! You said you would open up the discussion tab.

Alister is at prom. If you want, we can start roleplaying now.

Roth tried his best to ingnore the smell of recycled air. This was miserable to the psyker, he had but two paths before him. Death or survival. He would choose survival. Roth looked around at the others in the craft. His eyes stop on Cimbria. You an Arbitrator? I heard told, Arbitrator's farts is classified as biological weapons.

Awww, are you going to get all sensitive and gooey-eyed if I say yes? Or are you worried the cyclone turbines wont be able to filter the air enough to appease your delicate sensibilities? At least I'm off that damnable rock. Too much open ground... Cimbria leans back in the voidchair, puts the sole of one boot against the edge of the table and leans the chair even further.

yes I know he's at prom

Roth slaps the side of the hull. I'd much rather have a world underneath me instead of this

The psyker stretches and yawns. This ship got food?

And now I'm imagining an adept with a flamer, which is a great image.

You've seen nuns with guns now see Friars with fires!
But I figure that the adept will use the only blade he needs, the one in his head.

Also, yes Bad Alistair no biscuit for you.

Image for Vector though rather than a staff he has a cleaver and an autopistol.

----------

seated against the bulkhead Vector kneels, the grated floor digs into his unguarded shins while his armored overcloak looms on the wall like a pinned specter a fine pistol on its left side, a wicked looking cleaver on the right. The hum of the engine and the rattle of various drives and ducts soothing Vector. He sits in this position contemplating the imperium and his place in it, or at least he was attempting to.

"I'm reasonably sure that the meal today is heavy in Legueme- fabricated beans and meats products." Like every other day on a space vessel, least they haven't broken out the 5 year jerky yet. He states attempting to ignore the technical term he flubbed. Pitch black eyes boring into other Psyker as Vector looks at him. "Perhaps you will have a chance to determine the Arbitrator's chemical danger later, Sanctionite."

Yes I am aware Legume/s is the correct term, I wonder which of you folks are learned enough to correct me if the desire strikes them.

Roth smiles for the first time in days. Let's hope not slim. How can a person live without fresh meat or vegetables? The psyker pulls some dice from a pouch on his hip. How about we pass the time?

A wicked grin creases Cimbria's face Best not to get into what *really* makes up the space RATS, friend

@Roth Most likely not on this dinghy, this here is just a hopper. Ground-side to Cap, see? Once we dock in at the Angelae Imperator I'm sure something can be scrounged up. Drink? Cimbria holds out a narrow flask with an Aquilla etched on one side and the words "Imperial Sword" on the other. Opening the cap reveals the scent of amasec and berries.

Roth cocks his eyebrow at the offer of the flask. He takes it with a nod. He pours a shot down his gullet. Mmmmm. That takes the edge off. He rolls his neck as he feels the muscles warm from the alcohol.

A woman of taste and intelligence. Another nod. To be honest, I didn't even know I was allowed to bring liquer. Roth hands back the flask. Roth Vaughn sanctioned psyker

"Most have been disturbed to discover what goes into the production of such things, my memory is spotty of the process but I still know how it all happens at least. To say they respond badly is the least of it, it is unfortunate that people ask such questions not expecting a response."

The psyker blithely continues to respond out of turn.
"As far as I am to understand it the normal rules do not apply to the Inquisition, from my limited contact previously I know they are very good at T- information gathering techniques and answer mostly to themselves. I think a guardsmen caught drinking on duty is subject to punishment, Inquisitors tend to require more of their crew though so I would steel yourself for a rebuke. Ultimately we all serve the God Emperor and it is in his eyes that we must judge our actions, hopefully he grants us enough of a reprieve that the inquisitor just chooses to shoot you both rather then executing the entire batch of us for disobeying orders he has yet to inform us of."

Roth is a bit stunned from the monologue he just heard. It takes a few moments for his mind to fully appreciate the comment. I like you very much. I'm calling you Party Killer from now on. Killer for short.

Roth eases back into his chair. Besides, we were dying since we were born save one. So quit worrying Killer.

@Vector I believe you've just made the jump from knowledgeable cautiousness to delusional paranoia. At least now we know where that line is and how hard we have to work to make you cross it...

@all Cimbria...but feel free to call me "Magistrate". Especially if I'm in uniform. I wont have common familiarity undermining authority. Especially in public. I'm sure you understand.

Magistrate. I have some questions. What is the rules governing gambling? Roth begins to feel more comfortable about the rules being spelled out.

"My designation is Vector Linear Psykana Sanctionate, I have no interest in another name currently" the psyker turns eyes on Cimbria
"Understood Magistrate Cimbria."
"It is not paranoia if you are proven correct, I have encountered Inquisitor Sharben before. He is unpleasant if you don't have the answer he desires from you, I can only draw my assumptions of his method of leadership from what I have experienced." the psyker states hand running over his forearm "and those experiences tell that he commands respect and books no insubordination." the psyker finishes grimly.

gotta have someone to drum up how much of a badass Alistair is before the inevitable moment of "What?" when the personality I saw in that message comes to greet us in the future.

After a very long pause, Roth says, You appear to be a conversation killer as well.

@Roth You're labouring under the assumption that my function is the same as a given planetary constabulary. The Adeptus Arbites is only interested in localized petty crime insofar as it hinders a tithe or poses a greater moral threat. By the same token, a certain amount of latitude is given for members of an Acolyte cell. Do your job, do not sway from your duty. Do not waver and stand firm against the forces antithetical to the Imperium. You can rest assured that full force of the Adeptus Arbites will be brought to bear if you fail.

To give you an apt analogy, the Inquisitorial Ordos are a scalpel, used to excise corruption from the body of the Imperium. The Arbites...well...they are the Hammer. At this, Cimbria takes a sip from the flask again, then holds it out with a crooked smile Drink?

So the arbite does know regulations, it is good to see she can be competent when desires it. The inquisition demands weapons of war and subtlety yet all ive seen of these ones are blades of pig iron and slag.

Vector chuckles darkly " An inquisitor has the blessings of the god emperor to do whatever is nessecary regardless of its legality for they have proven worthy of such great freedom. As an acolyte a minor fraction of that immunity is passed down to you. " the psyker states looking at the other sanctionate "But what that also means is that if an inquisitor considers you unworthy of life, then you will die."
"And there is nothing you can do to prevent it beyond being a useful tool to him. So rest well, for he will likely kill you on the morrow'. "

so, you think Vector is enough of a stick in the mud yet or should I layer on more jerk? He is absoultely garbage at speaking with people so its pretty close to what he supposed to be. Should also point out for a noobs that what vector is saying about the Inquisition is partially true he is also wrong in many ways. But it is likely the impression he has gotten from the life he has lived. So take it with a grain of salt out of game.

BLEARGH...my head is pounding and I didn't even have one cup out of the punch bowl...but at least the after-party laser tag was fun! I got to shout [b]"FOR THE EMPEROR" multiple times, much to the chagrin of my teammates, my date and the other players...but ya win some, ya lose some. Laser tag is the closest I will ever get to being in the Imperial Guard, barring actually enlisting in the armed forces.

Opening discussion tab now...

Now if only Vector would stop murdering the mood with his brain. unfortunately Paranoid,Jaded and having most his education courtesy of a bored Magos and its staff before being shipping him off to the Psykana with memories like swiss cheese makes for some interesting mental ticks. rules are easy after all, while people are strange creatures, with varied reactions based off a million factors that they hide and are different for each person. Tis CHAYOS! i tells ya!.
though if he shows up I bet Vector and our tech priest will get along swimmingly.

moving to Discussion!

@Titus: is there a reason you took "melee weapon training (primitive)" over "pistol training (sp)"? I figure given your stats and lack of combat prowess, ranged weapon skill would serve you better.

My apologies for any delays at the moment, my in-laws are in town visiting through Tuesday night.

Lock them in the basement! Bread and water rations only!

Or just duck tape them to the ceiling. the children will love it and you won't have to hear any of the other ones complain.

*chuckle* so being that the discussion thread is the game play thread right now I hereby declare the recruitment thread as the discussion thread. Now everyone looking for a game will peer at ours and cringe in surprise at the stupidly large number of posts accrued to it!

I'm wondering how long this prattle has to go on before the Soritias decides that bashing the uppity psyker until he stops speaking is the best choice.

Purely rp reasons. As he has never had the need for a gun in the libraries he never needed to learn. The primitive weapon skill and decent physical stats other than strength can be chalked up to an adherence to many sport activities.

I gotta say I'm digging the party dynamic so far. the ratio of Crazy devotional cultists and normals just trying to survive the grimdark in this group appeals to me.
Hopefully our techie speaks up soon, as it makes life much harder in the imperium as acolytes if none in the party can speak with the blessed machine spirits to assess their pains.

RP is the reason Vector has such an obscure weapon, Cleaver is awesome flavorful for having come from a meat ship.

*chuckle*
and now for WH40k Chibi edition.
------------
Psyker: Stop being so bossy
Arbite: Well I got this badge that says i'm the boss, so hush up!
Psyker: well my boss is biggern' your boss!
Arbite: Nuh uh!
Cleric: Stop being children you morons, you are embarrassing yourselves.
from the future!!!
Both: He/She started it! *huff/pout/turn*

Hahahaha, there are no children, only a pair of cats. Though they might be quite amused by the in-laws duct taped to the ceiling.

yes, perhaps it would be better to avoid duct taping cats. it angers them and no one wants Mr. cuddles angry.

My cat wanted me to share part of my ham sammich with him. He threatened me with a knife. Apparently cats like ham. A lot.

that would be why you don't duct tape knives to the cat Cimbria, no matter how useful it is for scaring away in-laws.

Alright, so have any of you played with Telepathy psyker powers before?
Because I really have not and I'm trying to figure if I'm running them right. Far as I see it there are no oobie doobie hand motions or other obvious tells for psykers unless they make an invocation test.

Effectively the suggestion minor arcana is a de-powered jedi mind trick. It can install an indea in someone but they are free to act on that idea or not depending on other factors.

The trouble I'm having is how to judge failure with it. Stuff like the compel Telepathy power were beating the psyker means you feel the urge to kill your buddy but don't would be fairly obvious.
It says nothing on failure giving a chance at detection with Suggestion but it seems to me that if you beat a psyker in a contest VS the psykers most important stat that something ought to happen.

-deleted post-

Alright, I've posted that I'm dropping this game eight times already and deleted them each time. I can't stand interparty conflict and only played this one out from sheer curiosity. I have nowhere else to turn on this and I can't play the character as she was meant to be played.

I either:

Drop game as I always have when party fights come up

Do nothing and stop posting except for die rolls and eventually lose interest.

Roll a new character and not play an Arbitrator (again).

I've already lost sleep over this and I'm posting at work

*sigh* Well I'm sorry to make you uncomfortable with all this. Dark Heresy is one of those settings where these sort of events do pop up.
My suggestion is as thus to solve it.

Inquisitor steps in and reprimands us both.
The arbitrator assaulted an acolyte yes but she was provoked.
The psyker should have known to stand down to a superior even if he did not technically need to at the time.
Punishment?
Joint punishment and attitude readjustment played out off screen to give the characters a grudging understanding of each other and mutual respect for the places they have come from and the trials they have went through.

You and I make a general agreement with Fenwick as to what we go through and the result is both of the PC's come back with a better mindset and this crap doesn't happen again.
Like I've stated before this situation was entirely unique for Vector. Once we get assigned an Acolyte cell he becomes a docile lamb as he knows who is in charge again.
The character was using Cimbria as an outlet for his anxiety and fears due to being removed from his duely apointed position in the Psykana ranks to be taken to the inquisition. The last time he came here he was tortured for several weeks and made into a Magos Tech priests pet test subject for several years.

I likewise do not want to see anyone not enjoying the game, especially before it has even officially started (as we are basically in the prologue right now). Cimbria, you wrote an awesome backstory and seem to have a cool concept and I would hate to see you go. I think what Mavin/Vector proposed is a good solution. I do not know what you had intended for your character, but I firmly believe that you will be able to play it as intended.

I would like to add that if my posts on authority upset you, then I am sorry. When you posted your reply about heresy, I actually got really excited that you were engaging Gabriel in an in-character discussion of law, religion, and corruption. I started writing a reply, but when you retracted your post, I assumed you simply did not want such a discussion, never for a moment thinking you were personally upset. I am sorry.

In game, there are going to be situations where our characters disagree. I encourage everyone to roleplay their character's personality while still working towards forwarding gameplay and plot (aka, not arguing endlessly and be willing to compromise or let a topic go). For my part, Brother Gabriel will often work to defuse in group animosity and seek a solution, for he sees each acolyte as a blessed servant of the Emperor charged to work together for the betterment of Humanity.

Now, holy champions, to arms!

*grin* I think that the GM's method of just moving on to the action will serve us best. If it comes down to it I figure heart to heart *induced via fists* could also serve as a cathartic method of team building.

I'm fairly sure with the back and forth PM's between Cimbria and myself that all of the problems we were having sprung from Vector being antagonistic to someone he didn't need to be. That whole thing spiraled out from him trying to call space dredd the cop on over stepping authority and refusing to back down and let the inquisitor handle it rather than trying to do it himself.

This will be something that Vector will remember as this continues as a Very Bad decision and will color interactions for a while I think.

Sounds like a plan.
