The door Jimmy is at is a huge black stone door measuring 6 feet wide and 14 feet tall, and it doesn't budge when you push or pull it.

William:

Uh, you are in a closet. What exactly are you keeping an eye out for? There's a door to your East that leads outside to the main area (which you would pretty much figure out since you've been there) and a door to your South. Inside this room are hats, coats and other minor tools. A key hangs on the wall.

Phaedra moves to the door that she had seen the slaves bringing in the food from and check to see if she can open it or not.

I'm keeping an eye out for people. Mainly servants and hellknights. I don't know who or what is poking around since I got escorted out.

I'll certainly pocket the key, and check the door to the south first, then the main area I came from. Just enough of poking out my head to try and see what is out there, and see if anyone is around. I'll have my invisibility scroll handy (the one that I failed to scribe) to cast just in case, but at this point am not going to cast it unless it becomes needed.

Main focus is that I am trying to avoid confrontation as much as possible, since I have no idea what is going on inside at the moment.

"Yeah, Jimmy, this dressed up fellow Eirtein Oberigo said that wasn't the way in. He was going to pay me to find it, but he knew it wasn't behind that big stone door. He might have known a lot more, but I kind of forgot to talk to him." Tristain holds his sides. "Anyone spare a heal? That Hellkniight got me pretty good."

The slaves brought food in from over the bridge, but exactly where they came from you didn't quite see from your vantage point at the table. So, if you're interested in finding the kitchen, that's probably the direction to go.

C'mon Jimmy, lets follow after Phaedra...seems she may have a nose for this thing...besides I need you to help keep her safe. Good job with those Hellknights too by the way, just try and be careful not to set anything important on fire please.

Corey will follow with Phaedra whip in hand, rapier sheathed.

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

"Okay, we have a hallway here with some doors in it. No guards at least, so that is a good thing. I guess we should go see if any of the doors are unlocked and see what rooms they open up into."

Phaedra moves up a step to the closest door and tries the handle to see if it is unlocked or not. If not, she will slowly open it a crack and peek into it.

As Corey opens the door, you smell something rather, well, odd. You don't know what that smell is, but it seems to be coming from an open bottle lying on the floor. Inside this room is also a small table in the middle (not shown) as well as a few very small chairs, ideally sized for halflings.

On the wall, there is a letter stuck to the wall with the word "TONIGHT" written on it. There is also a letter attached to the open bottle. When you look at it, it reads:

Dear friends,

I know we have only been together a few days, but trust me, my plan will work. Use this bottle at the party, but be careful not to over do it in any one meal.

Love and best of luck,

Sian

After helping Corey look about the room, Phaedra offers up her opinion. "Well, this is certainly proof that this was not a normal party. Now we know for certain the food was drugged and even have a name to investigate later. We just don't know yet what the purpose of drugging everyone was. Robbery? Assassination attempt? Escape?"

"I suppose the biggest question is, do we touch anything in this room or leave it be as evidence that there was something nefarious afoot? You know, something other than us of course."

FYI, this was recently pointed out to me in regards to Pathfinder Society...

Command Word: If no activation method is suggested either in the magic item description or by the nature of the item, assume that a command word is needed to activate it. Command word activation means that a character speaks the word and the item activates. No other special knowledge is needed.

A command word can be a real word, but when this is the case, the holder of the item runs the risk of activating the item accidentally by speaking the word in normal conversation. More often, the command word is some seemingly nonsensical word, or a word or phrase from an ancient language no longer in common use. Activating a command word magic item is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Link to Source 1

AND

Activation: Usually a character benefits from a magic weapon in the same way a character benefits from a mundane weapon—by wielding (attacking with) it. If a weapon has a special ability that the user needs to activate, then the user usually needs to utter a command word (a standard action). A character can activate the special abilities of 50 pieces of ammunition at the same time, assuming each piece has identical abilities.

CC & Corey:
I figured using a command word was a free action, because speaking is a free action and you're just saying something.

To not change my previous post too much I'd like to just attack. I'll activate the flaming ability later.

I'd also like to change the command word from flames to vuur, if allowed. I hadn't really given the accidental activation any thought... :S

(Vuur is Dutch for fire by the way, if you wondered.)

Scrap the flaming, everything else stays the same.

As does everyone else, myself included until recently. I hate being a rules lawyer, but when it comes up in PFS and rules must be followed as written I prefer to share the knowledge...also checking back into the d20srd, the same applied in 3.5 so it isn't a new rule just one we have all ignored or never noticed.

Okay...first, apologize for my lack of posting as my wife has decided it was spring cleaning time, despite it being September. So, as for "rules", as I mentioned I don't know all the rules but I like to follow the rules where appropriate and they don't get in the way of the story, etc. In this case it doesn't seem to get in the way...thus, let's go with the standard action for activation, and you can say whatever you want to activate it. Furthermore, I will assume that the flames are OFF outside of combat unless otherwise noted, as walking around with a flamestick in your pocket is a bit dangerous. Furthermore, I can't believe you guys (actually, just one of you) keep attacking people when a few words might solve everything. Violence isn't always the solution and usually makes things worse, as you have done yet again. Perhaps a shift to Chaotic Evil or something like that might be in order.

Jimmy attacks the Halfling and kills him. The other halflings run for the door. The Hellknight remains slumped over the small table.

You fail to grapple Jimmy as his CMD is 19, but Jimmy may perform an attack of opportunity on you as performing a grapple without the appropriate feats provokes. I do not wish this game to be a PvP fest, but the reaction seems appropriate. Keep things non-lethal please (so Jimmy might smack your head in), but in the future you should resort to words rather than attacks for other players. I took offense in another game when another player said they were going to grab me (through the wall I might add as if they had some kind of supernatural power) when a simple phrase would have been sufficient.

I fully expect to get banged for this. It's more of William trying to pin Jimmy's sword arm and try to reason with him. That's just how initiative falls sometimes.

EDIT: Second reason, and more importantly to me, is that the halflings have to be scared senseless. And knowing from the host that they all have no ability to speak, William feels like he has to do something demonstrable in order to try and garner any sort of goodwill.

Male Human Fighter/1 Oracle/3 (HP 36/36 | AC:23 | T:14 | FF:19 | CMB: 5 | CMD:19 | Fort:+5 | Ref:+4 | Will:+2 | Init:+3 | Perc:+6 | Speed 20)

Jimmy shrugs William's grapple off, but doesn't attack the wizard.

"Jimmy thinks we should check if the Hellknight's still alive! Jimmy thinks we should inform him what the halflings did to the Hellknights in the dining hall!"

Slumped over doesn't necessarily mean dead, and we still have something else to cover up. I expected the halflings to have downed the Hellknight, and I figured we could put all the blame on the halflings if the Hellknight can be healed.

I apologize if I've created a bigger mess... I was actually trying to find a way to fix the mess we were already in.

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

"Oh for goodness sakes, stop this foolishness. Unless the Halfings are after the same thing we are, there is no reason to bother with them. Obviously they have no intention of running off to the HellKnights and reporting that we are up and about if they are the ones putting people to sleep. Their absence will likely work in our favor if they are trying to flee and I cannot imagine them sticking around for long after what they did."

Phaedra will make little shooing motions with her hands towards the Halfings. "Go on now, get along with you. We have this huge manor to search and not much time to do it in."

I am willing to bet that the disappearance of the Halfings will work in our favor more than their little corpses laying around. Besides which, I think there has been enough killing for now anyway. More than enough....
