You all return to the upper chamber without incident and twist the stone arrow to point at indigo lantern's area. Another stone elevator rises out of the floor. As you approach, you all see that unlike the other elevator you rode in, the floor of this one is littered with mouldering clothes and what appears to be fragments of bone.
Lucid* |
Hold up! Lucid stops people from advancing until they fully examine these 'remains'.
He waves his hand and his lights move forward to illuminate the area well and then he casts Detect Magic to further investigate the area. Can anyone tell what those bones come from?
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Ramos the Herald |
Gods Below! curses Ramos taking a step back. Lucid, are you sure you don't want to try the climb first? Grimly laughing to himself Ramos motions to the elevator with his mace. Want to check that for traps Pavo? I don't want whatever killed that poor bastard to do the same to one of us. And now that I think about it, do any of you find it strange that another group has already been here? When we get back to town we should look up the old parish records and see if anyone knows who the hell these guys were.
Pavo Alazario |
Approaching the tube, Pavo circles it once or twice, determining if there was some mechanism within the elevator itself that caused the remains to be in the state that they were in.
Perception (traps): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Ramos the Herald |
That's not the worst idea I have heard Markus. Since we have been here we have had more fortune then I would have though possible. Turning in for the night to recoup and return sounds good. When we get to diamond lake we should be able well some of our finds as well for a pretty penny. What does everyone else think?
Pavo Alazario |
"Sure, we can rest up...but I don't know if we want to head back to town just yet. Leave Diamond Lake and come back with treasures from a place people thought ta be looted. That is just asking for someone else to stick their nose an possibly find loot that could rightfully be ours." Pavo comments as he moves away from the 'elevator' and begins thinking about a good place to rest. "Better to rest here and explore more of this place before heading back to town."
Khyrn Lossen |
The next morning...
Khyrn opens his pack and retrieves his rope. Looking up at the chain hanging from the ceiling high above, then down at the deceased man who apparently fell from the chain, he turns to everyone else, "Who is our best climber?"
Khyrn has 50' of silk rope.
Ramos the Herald |
After a mostly restful nights sleep Ramos joins the rest of the group as they make their preparations to explore the rest of the complex. You know Khyrn, let's go back to that room with the mold. Lucid said that he might have something to clear it up, now that he has new spells today.nAfter we know that area is clear we can go back and check the new area.

Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sverrir stretches and wearily rubs his neck and hands before reaching for his flask...
"Morning lads..."
The dwur takes a deep swig of his spirit before continuing;
"...Ahhh. Better tae start the day with a dram than not nei?"
The barbaric miner wipes his beard with a smile and grabs his heavy pick
"So... Anyone fancy a Svim this mornin? Har!"
Apologies for the longer post GMF - trying to get back into it good and proper
Ramos the Herald |
Sounds good Markus. Lets go see if Lucid can do anything about that mold. Everyone ready? At the apparent nods of agreement Ramos hefts his pack onto his shoulders and makes his way back towards the mold ridden room.
GM Fanguar |
Welcome back Sverrir, you haven't missed much.
You all go back down the elevator and, using his newly prepared spell, Lucid quickly clears a path through the mould, revealing another side chamber.
The ceiling of this large chamber glows with what looks like natural sunlight illuminating a series of worktables, vises, spinning wheels, and blocks of unfinished marble that identify the room as a sculptor's workshop. A huge unfinished statue of an imposing bare-chested warrior wielding a staff-like rod in its left hand dominates the north wall. The hair-less figure looks similar to the bas-relief on the sarcophagus upstairs, but is clearly meant to be a different person. A short red metal pedestal against the south wall displays what appears to be a jet-black stone egg the size of a small boulder. A gold glyph - an equilateral triangle with short hash marks through each leg - marks the face of the egg.
Ramos the Herald |
Careful guys! I am no expert, but some glyphs can be magical in nature. Let me cast a spell first to check if there are any aura's in the room.
Cast: Detect Magic
Spellcraft 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sverrir leans against the ruined statue, pickaxe by his side as he watches those with a more magickal ken than him perform their rituals;
"Blak stein looks threatening... but valuable too heh... We dwur always err on the side of coin when it ist matched against danger..."
GM Fanguar |
Ramos' survey of the room reveals:
- The room's light is magical in nature and due to a combination of Daylight and Permanency. There are no other auras in the room.
- The staff-like rod is of exquisite workmanship (treat as MWK quarterstaff) and easily removable from the statue. It's carved in such a way to suggest that it is made up of seven parts.
- The red metal pedestal is made of some material that none of you have ever seen before.
Ramos the Herald |
There are several enchantments present in the room, but nothing harmful in nature. But I am not sure about that pedestal, I have never seen that material before. As for that staff, I think that it can be removed from the statue. Should sell well.
Pavo Alazario |
Putting his keen eye to work, Pavo looks over the strange metal and the black egg to guess the value of each item after looking them over for any hidden tricks.
Perception traps: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Appraise metal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Appraise egg: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sverrir shields his eyes from the piercing magickal light
(Presume Daylight spell will mess with Sverrir's Minesight ability)
The dwur walks to the pedestal where Pavo is scrutinising. He kneels down beside it, running weathered hands over its surface;
Appraise: Metal? (not sure if I can appraise something I can't identify??): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Lucid* |
Hi all. I am back from my Thanksgiving travels and catching up.
Lucid also casts detect magic and looks around.
Permanent Daylight would be valuable and handy if we could take it with us.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Careful. I recognize that glyph. Its the personal symbol of Ogremoch, a legendary elemental prince of evil. Khyrn, maybe we can compare notes on it.
Can Khyrn assist my roll And is there any chance that any of us have heard of the Rod of 7 Parts?
Lucid* |
It seem like I've seen that staff before somewhere, but I am not really sure where.
Knowledge History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
After discussing the history of the rune with Khyrn Lucid can confirm Yes. That is right. Ogremoch and a legion of lesser earth elementals were said to have fought on the side of the Queen of Chaos during the great final battle at Pesh that ended the primordial war between Law and Chaos. We should try to take this back with us.
Ramos the Herald |
I suppose Lucid, but it does look awfully heavy. But there's no magic coming from it, so I suppose its safe. Looking around the rest of the room Ramos returns to the group. That looks like everything, do you want to head down to that area that's flooded before we go for a climb?
Sverrïr Koltǫnn |
Sverrir nods at Lucid's arcane counsel;
Presuming the halfling mage meant the egg?
"Aye... into the bag ye go stein egg..."
The dwur miner will attempt to lift the egg first...
Lucid* |
That red metal pedistal looks interesting too Sverrir. Anyone know what kind of metal is red? They both look heavy though. Maybe we should try to get them on the way out?
knowledge Local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 to know that metal?
Alchemy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Craft Alchemy?
Lucid is not trained in Nature yet.
