"I think I can disable the flyer, and anyone near her." Phana offers. "But it's going to be obvious as hell to anyone I don't catch with it."

A Strix! Dono whispers in a hiss. A natural flyer. We will have to focus fire to bring her down The bard loads a bullet into his sling.

Landel Seltiss |

Notching an arrow, Landel replies "Strix you say? Not many of them in town anymore. Phana, how many can your spell occupy?
The elf mumbles a phrase to himself and his appearance changes to that of a Strix.
In his new winged form, he turns to Dono. "I look forward to seeing your skill with that device."
Disguise: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 10 - 2 = 27
Just prior to combat starting (assuming the group prepares and initiates the attack) I'll cast Gravity Bow on myself

Phana Hartsong |

"if they're all within 20 feet of each other, potentially all of them." she says. "But it'll just keep them occupied till we can take them down."
Hypnotic Pattern. 2d4+5 hd worth of creatures get fascinated (dc21 will save). Did i mention each person affected by my pattern spells counts as their hd-6?

"Don't the Strix hate the Cheliaxans? Why is one working for them? What if she's brainwashed or something? And the Dwarves may be similarly compromised. Can't we just tie them up or something?"

Mordecai Goldman |

knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11... Mordecai has never heard of a strict it would seem.
knowledge(local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23... check in to see what Mordecai knows about the dwarves guards. Are we dealin with mercenaries, perhaps with a reputation, or just a local family recently conscripted?

Freya Solheim |

Strix hates all humans don't have any particular hatred over chelaxians more than others
That's not strictly true. "...centuries of bloodshed and superstitious hatred from the neighbors in Cheliax have created a species-wide siege mentality. Strix have developed a deep hatred of humans; the precise origin of this hate is uncertain, but it is known that they deeply resent human intrusions and besiegement." And since Devil's Perch in Cheliax is the only place where Strix are found on the Continent, they should hate Cheliaxans more than anyone. They are also tight-knit so any Strix not in the Devil's Perch is an oddity even if they weren't working for humans.

K (Local): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Looking for information as to why a strix would be helping Thrune out.

Mordecai Goldman |

We are most likely dealing with paid mercenaries here. They will have no allegiance to the well being of the city, and will be the type of people who will kill for whom ever offers the most money. I would rather be striking at the men loyal to Barzillai, but these paid cutthroats will do. Taking it easy on these professional mercenaries will most likely endanger both us and the people we are trying to free. So no heroics, or trying to take captives if it endangers us, the captives, or the mission.

Landel Seltiss |

"What about paying them off? If they truly have no allegiance to Thrune, perhaps we could pay them to leave."

Landel Seltiss |

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
I see a place we could feasibly climb it unseen? A gap in the patrols perhaps?
"Anyone feel they could talk the guards into opening the gate for us?" the winged Landel asks, his grin appearing quite sinister in his current shape.
If I spot a place, I'll immediately point it out to the group. With the flying strix patrolling as well, I don't have high hopes.

Landel Seltiss |

Wanna borrow my hat of disguise? Lol

Landel Seltiss |

Works for me
Glancing over to Dono, "I'm ready when you are. Why don't you and I start this with a couple shots at the flyer. Phana, you want to try captivating those dwarves when we do? If we're lucky they'll group up on this front wall."
If no one disagrees, cast Gravity Bow. Then fire simultaneously with Dono.
Bow Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Bow Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8
If within 30ft, add +1 to hit and +4 to damage with Focused Shot
Looks like my first attack may not be aimed very well anyway...

Mordecai Goldman |

Um guys... there's no time table for this... we could easily come back in a few days. Maybe get a fly potion or two, or some invisibilities, or keep a watch out for when the flyer sleeps....

Bjorn Stonehand |
Bjorn shrugs. "I say we strike now. Call it a show of strength with our new recruits."

Phana Hartsong |

I can distract/incapacitate the guards at the door, and then we can walk in like a boss?
"Ready." Phana declares, pulling a wand out of her pack and holding it in her off hand.

Let me try to get in through that breach and act from there. Dono offers. Unless Stopped the halfing moves at full speed to and into the breach. He uses available cover as he moves and reassesses when he achieves the cover of the breach.
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 12 - 5 = 27
do we have anyone who can disable devise to open the gate?

Landel Seltiss |

I have a decent disable device skill

Landel Seltiss |

"I won't fit inside through there, but if we manage to get to the front door, I can likely open it." Whispers the elf.
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23

Phana Hartsong |

Can I be within 150 feet of the front door?
"Those guards won't notice you approach." she says. "But take them out once you're in best range. I'll handle the Strix when she comes to investigate."
Phana will wave her free hand and point at the space in between the two by the door. A pattern of swirling, hypnotic colors spins out from that location, enthralling the guards at the gate.
Hit Dice Check: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4) + 5 = 13 So 13 hit dice worth of enemies in the area will get fascinated (DC 21 Will save). Reminder: All creatures affected by this spell consider their hit dice-6 as their effective hit dice for my spell.

Guard 1 will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Guard 2 will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
One the guards is entranced by the spell but the other was yawning and had his eyes closed.
He cries out in alarm when he notices the blinding lights.
The Strix takes to the sky flying straight up and casting a spell on herself.

Great. Dono thinks as the plan goes bad. Now what do I do?
My intent was for Landel to sneak up the the gate and try to use Disable Devise to open it from the outside.

Landel Seltiss |

Well, that could be problematic
Still in his Strix form the elf tries to capitalize on Phana's distraction. Landel cautiously heads for the front door, attempting to stick to the shadows as best he can.
