The party flies its flying ship onward from the weird caravan, and the road ultimately ends on a plateau wedged between two towering peaks.
The approach is walled in purple basalt, and crenelated on top by wicked gargoylish statuary of an Oriental mien. (that'd be area 3)
"1" is a high thin tower, 250 feet tall; also of purpleish basalt.
scale 1 square equals 20 feet
2 and 4 are relatively squat outbuildings; cooking fires rise from 4 but 2 looks more like a temple of some sort.
5 is a massive temple, wedged in to the side of the more massive of the two peaks.........
A foreboding hangs over the whole place.

The Plan, recapped:
Altai Iscarni wrote:
"I have a plan, sort of. As previously mentioned, I would like to teach these twerps a serious lesson; having said that, I very much doubt we can simply storm a fortress full of odd monks, degenerate clergymen and twisted monsters. Instead, we need to be somewhat subtle. So...""We fly in on our newly acquired sky-boat and anchor far above the monastery - high enough to be effectively invisible to the guys on the ground. I will summon up a deva to do the actual piloting and to watch the ship once we attack. We then fly down under the cover of an invisibility spell and stealthily start searching for Beldan. Once we find him - and, the way the description of the place made it sound, it will be in some dank pit far underground - Elgan calls up the elemental spirits and have them collapse the gods-damned place while I teleport us back up to the ship. We then haul ass back here."
"Some additional details might be necessary. I need to scribe a few spells; also, and this is vitally important, I need to attune myself to the ship to ensue accurate teleportation. Comments or suggestions?"

"Altai's plan still seems wise. We need enchantments of flight and stealth before we descend upon them with mayhem and war."
The old monk looks eager for this, as you have not seen him look eager for combat often before. His sensitive soul feels evil roil from this place like the more tangible aura of cold, and for once he has no qualms about going into battle.

The moon rises. It looks bigger somehow than usual, as though it was a prop in an opera that you could reach up on your tippy toes and touch from the crow's nest above on the main mast. Beams of magical light seem to be slowly reaching out from the moon, and tiny motes like black smudges seem evident in the beams of eldritch light.
Elgan with his elvish eyes can see that they are rainbows, comprised mainly of light from spectra that humans cannot see. Bee purple, and other unknown colors from the palette of some other world's forgotten creator gods.

Elgan Dreadwood |

"Oooh,... Pretteh." Elgan smiles, relaxing for the first time in a while at the sight of the colors he can see.
He reluctantly turns away from the sight to the others.
"Yeh, Les' magik up. Dese guys iz gonna larn a lessen ur tree bout' messin wit' muh frens!"
"Iz not nice teh mess wit' mudder natuh. Cuz she's a b!tch. An ah'm her messengeh." He smiles predatorially.

Lovely.

"Hmmmm... The tower looks tasty. We could fly in through the top windows and give the proprietor a nasty surprise."
"Beyond that, your ideas are as good as mine. Normally I'd like to wait until nightfall to sneak in, but here? No way. We go in now, under the cover of invisibility. My best guess is that we will need to make our way into the mountain behind the biggest building, though. So - do we quietly hit each building, kill everything and everyone and then move on to the next one - or do we sneak through the main building while hidden by magic, leaving the others alone?"

"I suggest we focus on our goal, which is to rescue Beldan rather than to scour the entire nest. Trying to clear each building risks raising the alarm early and accomplishing nothing. We should strike like shadows directly for the heart."

The tower? if so.....
The roof looks to be flat, with a crenelated battlement......the crenelations appear to be (about man sized) statues from afar.
There appears to be a stairway down from the roof.
The tower seems to have windows, but they're more like arrow slits than windows.
The builders didn't really seem to be into taking advantage of natural lighting.

Elgan Dreadwood |

Elgan looks thoughtful as he ponders the possibilities of the pummeling he could dish out while under the effects of such a spell.
"Dats deh wun whut don' last so long, raight? Mebbe save dat fer when we git into deh scrap dat's comin'. If'n yews gots deh time." He grins conspiratorially.

Altai Iscarni |

"Hmmm.... Prison tower? He's either there or under the temple, methinks."
I have two scrolls each of Invisibility sphere and Mass fly scribed for this occasion, plus wands of Protection from evil and False life. We'll need Haste and that sort of thing eventually, of course. Does anyone have Silence prepped? Elgan, do you have some Earthquake spells ready to go?
