Sovereign Court

In the living room, Akash finds seven faint auras, centered on each of the bluish lights, but nothing else appears to his highly attuned senses.

From outside, Liasna and Cynan suddenly hear shouting. They can't quite make it out, but one word is shouted louder than the others: "GUARDS!".

You're in a hurry now, and posting time does correlate with game time.

Akash informs the party, "The lights are magical, no surprise. I'm not pickin' up anything else, though."

He follows Teflon, looks inside to see him rummaging through the room in the northeast corner of the house, then he moves to the staircase, to look and listen for anyone in the area above.

From there he steps over to the small circular table to examine the papers lying there.

Then he moves over to the double doors and opens them.

Movement depicted by dark blue arrows.

Sovereign Court

Behind the double doors, Akash finds an unoccupied bedroom, lit by the same bluish glow.

"We've gotta go!" Liasna urges, snagging the potions. "Someone's calling for the guards!" Despite her words, she moves forward, trying to get the others. "We need to get out of here before we get involved in a tussle we don't want to be a part of."

I picked an awkward time to be away.

"Well, this is time for some quick talking."
Cynan shrugs and takes the potions from the windowsill, then he slips out of the house.
This should be fun.

" We are almost done! We can't go out of the front. I'm going to check upstairs really fast." And with that Skillet sprints to the stairs and begins his ascension.

I didn't see the 2nd floor layout so i will wait for the slide.

Um, it might be the fact that we broke in? o:

Yeah, but my angle on bluffing/delaying the guards depends on who is out there. I'm praying for students, as guards usually have a natural suspicion of students. Drunk students would be the best. Maybe I'll accuse them of being drunk?

Sovereign Court

There is technically a second floor, but no layout or description, so I don't include it.

Liasna quickly steals the potions, while Cynan scopes out the students shouting in the street. Teflon runs down the steps, but finds the basement overflowing with newspapers and gets nothing more than an explanation for why there are papers stacked outside the front door.

Exiting through the front door like respectable folk who belong there or through the broken window like the Pathfinders that you are?

Sovereign Court

GM Rolls:
Exit: 1d2 ⇒ 2

As everyone climbs back out the broken window, the shouting in the street increases and can be heard more clearly.

"Guards! Guards!"

"Thieves!"

"Murderers! They killed professor Fimbrik."

The students run away at the sight of multiple armed burglars, but you can hear their cry for help being picked up by others in the distance.

Silver Crusade

Male Human Gunslinger (Bolt Ace) 2 | HP20 | AC18/14/14 | Initiative+3 | Perception+7 | F+4/R+6/W+3

They're fleeing? perfect!

Cynan runs toward the direction with the least students, pausing only to encourage his friends along, and calls out, "Thieves! Interlopers! Fimbrik's window is broken!"

If he sees any guards he points them toward Fimbrik's home's general direction, "That way, I think, someone saw a bunch of halflings robbing a professor!"

Sovereign Court

@Cynan: That would require a Bluff check if you do need to speak with the guards.

The main street through the Arcanamirium is long and straight, allowing Cynan to see several students talking to a guard detachment a few hundred feet away. He can't make out any of the discussion, but the students are gesturing a lot and pointing toward Fimbrik's house.

Silver Crusade

Male Human Gunslinger (Bolt Ace) 2 | HP20 | AC18/14/14 | Initiative+3 | Perception+7 | F+4/R+6/W+3

Well, not heading toward the guards, really hoping to find another group of guards to mix things up.

bluff if needed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

If bluffing does not work then Cynan can use fascinate to try to get the guards' attention while the rest of the party continue with the mission. As Liasna took the vials, Cynan has no incriminating evidence about his person.

Sovereign Court

A minute later, several guards escort Cynan back toward Fimbrik's house, and find the rest of your party still climbing out of the broken window.

"Well, well, well . . ." the sergeant chuckles to one of his men, "It looks like these folk missed the 'wet paint' sign. Corporal, secure their weapons. And make sure not to get any red paint on your own hands."

After a moment he adds, "And check them for spell components and other paraphenalia. If they're trying to steal magic, they probably know how to use it."

You may enter combat or try to talk your way out of it. Combat would be easier in the short-term, but riskier in the long-term.

Silver Crusade

Female NG Half-elf Oracle (Life) 2 | HP: 17/17 | AC: 14 (12 Tch, 12 Fl) | CMB: +2, CMD: 14 | F: +2, R: +2, W: +5; +2 vs. enchantments | Init: +2 | Perc: +1, SM: +1 | Speed 30ft | Channel Positive Energy: 0/5 | Spells: 1st 0/5 | Active conditions: None.

Liasna grimaces at this new turn of events and sighs. "This is hardly fortunate." She considers the number of guards - potential enemies - before making a decision on how to handle this. She'd already tucked the vials in with her other things in order to get out the window, so she didn't think they'd be able to mark them as stolen but... Well. You couldn't just rely on luck right?

How many guards are there?

Sovereign Court

Liasna quickly tries to size up the four guards, and notices that only the sergeant seems particularly confident. The others are probably inexperienced and would be easy to take down.

So, fascinate didn't work?

Silver Crusade

Male Human Gunslinger (Bolt Ace) 2 | HP20 | AC18/14/14 | Initiative+3 | Perception+7 | F+4/R+6/W+3

i am amused that the cleric with +11 diplomacy is sizing up the guards for a ruck.

Lol, but he said combat might be faster and I wasn't sure how many there were xD Since there's four, diplomacy is probably safer.

Sovereign Court

@Cynan: At 1st level, you can only fascinate one creature. And even if you succeeded, the remaining guards would see and hear you do something followed by their companion going all googly-eyed.
