A little early, but just to note I will be organizing the PFS portion at a local convention Thursday May 25th - Monday May 29th, so I will be either post-lite or unavailable during that time.
Botting Loni: Use summoning, giving up other spell slots, to give an extra body to the battlefield. Use Entangle when appropriate (especially with that scroll he got!). Afterwards, use a Wand of Cure Light Wounds to keep people up. Move Drootina forward to try to hit things and act as a tank.

So we have all played this before. The rites were interesting the first time I played though it took a long time to figure them out. And none of us used any of the boons.
Thoughts on investigating the shrine vs skipping it?

I'm fine with skipping if everyone else is.
On a side note, Eveleth, you are cracking me up!

Could everybody please start hiding your rolls in spoilers, like this?

I'll try to remember for this game, but forgive me if I forget from time to time as I have a pretty standard format I use for posts.

I'm going to be out of the country on business next week. I'll have internet connectivity, but I don't know what my schedule will be like. Bot me as necessary.
Sorry for the GM slow down everyone. I had some people over this weekend to play boardgames, and it turned into a 22 hour party. Then I worked 15 hours on less than 2 hours of sleep.
I'm more or less recovered now, though. All games will get updated today, though some may not be until tonight.

Just a reminder, I'm in going into convention organizer mode starting now. I have botting instructions above.

Ah. Didn't see anything about it in the bit before the spoiler text. That posting method can be confusing.
Since a lot of PbPers are Americans celebrating a holiday weekend (including myself), I'm going to treat Monday as part of the weekend--i.e. I'll only do one update, and expect one player post, during the three days. Regular posting will resume Tuesday.

And now I'm back to my regular schedule.

If you haven't already, please start adding your actions to the spoilers with your dice rolls.

So you want a spoiler for actions then in dice rolls you want us to repeat the actions and add dice rolls? Or one spoiler tab for actions and another with just the dice rolls?

Huratas Pelicore wrote: So you want a spoiler for actions then in dice rolls you want us to repeat the actions and add dice rolls? Or one spoiler tab for actions and another with just the dice rolls? I took the statement as a single spoiler that contained "actions" and "dice rolls" together.

So what we were posting before, But in a spoiler tag?
Personal preference whether you use one or two spoilers. I've been doing two for my own characters, but am thinking about switching to one. That part doesn't really matter.
What I'm going for is a thread where only the narrative (and a few ooc questions) are visible. For me, that makes the action easier to follow. Hopefully it has the same effect for at least some of you, too.
One of the players at another table just brought up a good point. Full rewards can be achieved without finishing this scenario.
Given the severe website problems recently and the start of Cosmic Captive in a few days, I am asking whether players would prefer to finish the scenario or stop once full gold and prestige have been earned.

Are you asking all the tables?
I'm fine either way.
All but one table, yes. That last group is still dealing with the gillman, so I'm actually going to seek a new GM for them once the other tables finish.

It's fine with me as well.

Chronicles are here.
And it's time for feedback. Public or private is fine with me, and Shifty has offered to filter any feedback which wishes to remain anonymous. Do whatever works best for you.
In particular, I would like to ask:
- Did you find the game easier to follow with the mechanics in spoilers?
- Did marking movement with arrows help during combat?
CN halfling cleric 1 | AC 20, T 15, FF 16 | 11/11 hp | Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +5 | Init +6 | Percep +9 | CMD 13
Tbh I think you probably bit off more then you can chew. Not a reflection of your skill as a GM, Just the sheer volume of player posts you need to read and pay attention to. Combat can change based on the players actions so no matter how well you prepped each combat will be a separate thing.
I think you were managing fine so far though.
Putting the mechanics in the spoilers I feel makes things a bit harder because players act based on what they know. It forces the players to either read all of the spoilers or to possibly duplicate an action. With more experience with the system and judging what to put where that might get better.
I didn't notice the arrows but the combats were pretty simple so I wasn't confused about locations.
Thanks for the attempt Granta. I suspect if you tried something similar but on a smaller scale it would go very well.
F CN Gnome Barbarian 2 | HP: 25/25 (27/27) | AC: 20 Tch: 14 FF: 17 (18/12/15) +4 vs Giant | CMD: 16 (18) | F: +5 (+7), R: +4, W: -2 (+0); +2 vs Illusion | Init: +3 | Perc: +6, SM: -2 | Speed 20ft | Rage: 6/8 | Active conditions: Uncanny Dodge, Darkvision.
I liked the arrows for movement and may use them in the future. As a GM I think it would help with realizing player x went this way and avoided AoO.
As for the mechanics in the spoilers, I've had GMs do that before and find as long as the flavor outside the spoilers is sufficient, it tends to give enough to react to. However, I can see how it could cause issues.
Everything has good and bad. Though I liked the arrows, I'm still undecided on the spoilers.
Thank you for running!

I prefer the mechanics outside of spoilers, because that causes there to be one more click necessary to parse what happens. In an environment where we would try to maintain RP only over a long time, then it's good, but I don't think it helps as much in PFS where everyone is bouncing in and out of tables on their own.
I actually didn't use the arrows because I hadn't figured them out, but that's on me. They were a nice touch to see.
M Gnome Druid 4 (CORE) | HP 35/35 | AC 15 | T 12 | FF 14 | CMD 11 | Fort +7 | Ref +3 | Will +10 | +2 vs. illusion | +4 vs. fey and spells that target plants | Init +3 | Perception +14 (low-light vision) | Sense Motive +5 | Reroll 1/1 | Active Spells: Endure Elements
I find arrows always help clarify, but careful wording can also go a long way. I'm fine with or without them. :D
I can understand doing spoilers a certain way. I'm honestly neutral on that issue, but if it helps the GM out I'm usually for it unless people are experiencing technical difficulties due to it.

Yeah, I like the arrows and am neutral on the spoilers. Seems a more narrative way of organizing it. Not bad or good, just different, and as with all new formats, there's a learning curve.

Kranzer has been updated. He's bought another mwk short sword and has advanced to level 2.1 with the previously-mentioned gm credit applied.

All of the tables are finally finished!
While I am happy to have tried the experiment, it is not something I want to repeat. The workload was definitely manageable, but it ended up not being fun for me. And I suspect that many of you would also have enjoyed it better if I was able to focus more on quality and less on quantity.
I will be cutting back to five tables for the next round, which means we are short a lot of seats. GM Hmm came up with a great idea though. Once the GM School finishes, those players will be running The Wounded Wisp, and they have agreed to reserve seats for those of you who won't be playing the sceanrio with me.
I've sent PMs to the players who will be going through Wounded Wisp with me. For everybody else, please RSVP here if you want to reserve a spot for the next round of the Wisp.
I don't know for sure, but most likely those games will run as part of GameDay VI, which starts the end of August.

GM Granta, would you be so kind as to mark this inactive, at your convenience?
I'd appreciate it. :-)
