Argenta smiles, We have a pretty good idea of where it is but that sort of information is valuable surely... she says raising an eyebrow.

lucklesshero |

Torch smiles insincerely at Argenta; sense motive on Argenta: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28 Argenta since your bluff can't beat only tie Torches Sense motive..I'm going to say; he pretty much knows that, you are bluffing and you only know the general area of the warehouse, not the exact local. "FYI you guys were only told the thieves kept their loot in a warehouse near the Pitview pub. You've no idea which one (there's at least half a dozen within two city blocks).
Grandmaster Torch waves his hand dismissively, Bah! there are dozens of warehouses in the Ascendant quarter. Unless, you know exactly where you're going...I doubt you'd have an easy time locating the one your source mentioned. Torch sighs at Argenta and the rest of you. He gets up immodestly, several horrible burn scars revealed on his body, and slowly wraps a towel around his mid-section. It doesn't mater, I've news from the Decemvirate, as I mentioned.
“Kreighton has discovered another relic, and he claims this could be the most important one yet. Supposedly, this keg was scavenged from the ashes of the original Cayden’s Hall and is the last keg Cayden Cailean drank from before he took the Test of the Starstone. After selling it to our relic dealer, the tavern keeper threw a huge celebration and bragged openly about how the Pathfinders were funding her retirement. By now, we can assume that we have piqued the interest of every would-be relic thief in Absalom."
“While I am loathe to put you in harm’s way, this does present a unique opportunity. Should you accept responsibility for moving the keg from the pick-up location to the Grand Lodge, you will undoubtedly be the target of the relic thief we’re looking for. If you properly prepare yourselves, you might be able to reverse the ambush and catch the bandit before he makes off with the relic, or follow the thief afterward to find out where he’s been hiding. Either way, you’ll want to make sure not to kill the suspect, since whoever is behind this won’t be much use to you dead. Tracking down the culprit’s main site of operations is the most important thing right now—after that, you should search for as much incriminating evidence as possible."
“It’s a huge gamble—which somehow seems appropriate when a relic of Cayden Cailean is on the line. This isn’t the sort of thing I would normally ask a Pathfinder to do, but we’ve already lost one courier and another was badly injured. I’d like this ordeal to finally be over with, and with your help, we can make that happen.” Torch finishes his story while walking to the locker area and getting dressed. When he is finished, he appraises the party's reaction and says, Well what do you think? Will you do it?

![]() |

"Sounds risky, but without a better idea of where this warehouse is it may be the only way. Well i'm in if everyone else is. At least we'll know they're coming for us."

![]() |

"It is a plan. I suggest we capture the thief and force the location of the warehouse out of him instead of letting him steal it and follow him. If we lose him, we will be in trouble."

![]() |

Argenta nods along, I agree, it seems like we best be prepared though. If anyone wants another mage armour before we set off with the relic let me know.
I assume an hour will have passed since I used the wand. If anyone wants a mage armour buff let me know, happy to bring charges as I get it as a spell known in two levels.

![]() |

Solomon stands there and nods and listens, leaving his hide armor on because the steam is actually good for it, however a rather foul smelling odor seeps off his body while in the warm sauna. Mmm, im getting tired of running tired of sweating, i'm gonna break this guy when we get him... Solomon doesn't like this much excercise especially if he's not slaying people. He will continue to lumber along to their next destination.

lucklesshero |

Grandmaster Torch nods acknowledgment of your group's acceptance of the new mission. He digs through the top of his locker and produces a scroll and hands it to Argenta, “just in case they misplace something important.” Argenta un-furls the scroll full of arcane symbols.
(DC: 22 spellcraft to decipher the writing or a read magic automatically deciphers the scroll: If Argenta can't decipher it Hudor can try or you guys can use the evening to find a magic shop to buy a scroll of read magic)..
When Torch see's Argenta studying the scroll he says, It's a scroll of locate object. It has a limited range so be careful when using it. The keg will be ready to move tomorrow. Torch reaches in his jacket and gives Hudor a piece of paper. There's the address. Make sure your there at the 7th bell tomorrow. Be careful...and get some rest tonight...I'm thinking you'll need it. Torch props his foot up on a nearby bench and adjust the cuff. He then tips one of the bath attendants, a few silver and moves toward the exit. Just before he leaves, he peaks around the door jam and says, Don't disappoint me Pathfinders *chuckle*..

![]() |

I have read magic as well DM but will wait on Argenta seeing as how he gave her the scroll

![]() |

"Save the charges on your wand for tomorrow Argenta, though I will be more then happy to receive another Mage Armor casting."
Hudor looks down at the address and memorizes it before showing it to the others.
"Like the Grand-Master said, we should get a good nights rest so we can be prepared tomorrow morning."
Have read magic also.

lucklesshero |

You all sleep well and agree to meet at the place indicated on Grandmaster Torch's note. (everyone should be healed; spellcaster's let me know on your next post, if you've swapped some spells) Everyone, including the merchant and his guards, arrive at the appointed time. There's no trouble at the hand-off of the relic, and soon you're on your way.
The relic merchant has thoughtfully provided a small wagon pulled by a donkey to transport it. Cayden’s Last Keg is 3 feet in diameter and 4 feet tall, and weighs approximately 75 pounds. The keg has old char marks on it as if it had been in a fire, and it still sloshes with the remnants of hops and ale. The innkeeper told you that, he kept it in active service (as Cayden would prefer), and it has been refilled innumerable times since it was first put into use.
You make good time at first. The streets are relatively un-crowded, even though it's mid morning, and several vendors and merchants are bringing their wares to market. As your entourage comes around a corner, you run into a small crowd of intoxicated revelers exiting a nearby Tavern. It looks like a group of workman have, had an all-night bender and are finishing up the night's festivities. They are singing about the improbable accomplishments of a famed Taldan prostitute. Spying the keg, one of them shouts, “Ale!” and the apparent drunkards, rush forward to claim their share.
OK please take a look at the newly revealed map. Feel free to place your tokens anywhere within' one square of the cart. Oh and go ahead and roll-for initiative (although anyone may act.)

Argenta squints as she reads the scroll. She sticks her tongue out trying to work out what the symbol mean but she was never much good at her lessons, always preferring to sneak out and wander the desert when she should have been studying.
Eventually someone will take the scroll from her when they realise she is reading it upside down and use Read Magic on it.
Before they set off Argenta uses her mage armour wand on herself, Hudor and Smiler.
As they come round the corner to meet with the revellers she see's Hudor trying to bluff the crowd and joins in, I hear that the innkeep at the Wounded Wisp is offering two drinks for the price of one!

A look of disappointment comes over all the drunk workers faces, when Hudor announces that, the keg is empty . Some of them carry what appear to be work and utility knifes...but none seem to be reaching for them. A couple of them turn away but then the donkey moves slightly and the keg sloshes a little...one of them says, Hey I thought I heard something! There is some left! At that moment Argenta intercedes with:
I hear that the innkeep at the Wounded Wisp is offering two drinks for the price of one!
A couple of the drunks look at each-other and the leader shouts, To the Wisp boys! As they all file off and leave your group to travel on your way.
please position your tokens on how you intend to guard the cart thx (or have me do it)

lucklesshero |

Your group travels several more blocks before you notice a large group of people up ahead. A small parade for some lesser-known god blocks the boulevard ahead. It looks to be a block party as much as a parade. Graycloaks prevent you from entering the main street and a small crowd of revelers approaches from behind.
Please roll for initiative. Also let me know what route you intend to take around the parade by drawing a red line to the spot marked "Here" on the map.

You alter your coarse because of the Parade. Your group goes a few blocks and comes around a corner. A wagon loaded with over a dozen chicken cages has toppled onto its side ahead, and a farmer and a local vendor are arguing loudly over whose fault it was rather than clearing the alley.
Where do you go now what do you do?fyi the purple box is where the knocked over cages are and the escaped chickens.

Hudor frowns, "It feels like we are being lured down certain paths. I don't like that. I suggest, half of us go and quickly clear the path of the chicken cages regardless if the farmer or vendor complain. The rest of us surround the wagon to make sure no one gets near the wagon."

As Solomon, Volar, and Smiler approach the merchant and the Vendor; Argenta stops short and see's a woman in the ally, casting a spell, and thinks she hears another spell, being cast behind her. Volar and Solomon also hear arcane chanting from somewhere behind them. As the woman down the alley completes her spell both Hudor and Polanco drop to the ground...loud snores issue forth from Polanco.
Tajan sees a pretty woman appear from thin air, a few meters in front of him near the corner of a building. Argenta's back is turned to the woman as she is looking at something down the alleyway. The woman appeared just as Tajan's companions dropped to the ground apparently asleep. Tajan prepares to spring in to action but, the woman is quick! While not wanting to be awkward, doesn't sleep have a casting time of 1 round? I will post my action later tonight when I get in form work.

lucklesshero |

While not wanting to be awkward, doesn't sleep have a casting time of 1 round? I will post my action later tonight when I get in form work.
while you're correct that it does have a casting time of one round..our magic user was invisible. A surprise round (which she gets) is only one action...and the spell is an area effect Does she suddenly appear mid-spell (allowing Tajan to run up and try to strike her?) Would you have liked me to have, called for an extra perception check, to try and hear her as she's casting? (+20 on stealth with invisibility, per RAW while remaining in one place. Her natural stealth modifier +4..and "take 10"= 34 stealth...(ie. none of you could have detected her casting the spell if she started half a round earlier anyway)..
So the question remains...Does the sleep spell which targets no one suddenly; Switch-off invisibility, because it's a full round casting time? If she cast magic missile this isn't a question..she get's to cast the spell and then becomes visible..I decided to handle sleep the same way...if you can find a ruling that states I'm wrong..I'll be happy to change the condition on Polanco and Hudor and we'll continue as normal..in the mean time it's still your turn Argenta and Solomon.
*edit* I'm going to strike out the stuff about targeting because sleep spell is clearly an attack for the purposes of invisibility and not relevant to the ruling. What is relevant is the wording of invisibility itself..which is: The spell ends if the subject attacks any creature. For purposes of this spell, an attack includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe. Exactly who is a foe depends on the invisible character's perceptions. Actions directed at unattended objects do not break the spell. Causing harm indirectly is not an attack. So since our magic user is clearly not attacking anyone until the spell is complete.(there is no debating this if she stopped her full round cast mid spell would she suddenly appear because it was an attack spell? No way! she never cast an attack. So clearly she has to finish the spell for it to count as an attack. Therefore, your only objection could be is: when did the magic user start casting the spell? Answer: whenever the GM wanted her to. There's no way you could have detected her per RAW. Full round action or not she was invisible and cast a spell, unless you could detect her, she gets it off...I would rule the same way for PCs. *edit* just read my own post and realize I come off as a jerk a lot..Argenta it's a legit question ..I edited out a couple things of my previous response because i'm a reactionary immature idiot sometimes..Hope the remainder of my response answers your questions..thx

![]() |

I have no issue with that. I would have gone with it being a 1 round cast done over two standard actions, one in the surprise round and one in the normal round. I agree she wouldn't become visible until the spell actually went off.

So are you saying these events happen before the results of our rolls are discovered? As in myself, Volar, and Argenta started towards the farmers however Argentina didn’t make it because she spotted the woman, which triggers the events that followed, which all took place as myself and Volar made it to the farmer. Just trying to understand the order of events.
