Davorin Blackridge |
From what I see Peribras will need 3 successful checks due to the standard action and difficult terrain, not just two, but I could be completely mis-interpreting.
GM Note: I haven't moved my icon for any of this as I wanted you to know my starting location to determine what happens. Clearly I'm making the best bee-line for the door I can.
Trying to keep things moving by offering up the either/or outcome. If anything is wrong in my math or spacing, let me know. I'd rather help a colleague than succeed on my own, that's in Davorin's nature.
Everything here assumes delaying until Peribras makes or fails his rolls with the exception of the CMB check to clear a path for him.
Davorin sees Peribras struggling to keep up on his stubby Halfling legs and decides to lend a hand! "Don't worry, we're sticking together as a team! Get to me, I'll lead you out!" he yells over the din of the crowd.
Round 1 Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Round 1: Make it to wherever Peribras is located. This is will either be a move to him, or a not a move at all if Peribras succeeds on his first roll.
Once with his Halfling ally he leans over and confirms his efforts, "We make it out together, or not at all my friend."
Round 2 CMB: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 Success!
Round 2: CMD (yup, with the Non-Lethal) to clear out space for both of us to move without needing to take the half-speed movement penalty. If Peribras made it to me on Round 1, this should get us both outside without any further rolls. If I had to make it to Peribras, this should make us both one success away from making it out.
He looks towards his colleague once again, "This will be one for the chronicles for sure!"
Round 3 or 4 Escape Artist: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Round 3 or 4: Attempt to make it out with Peribras. At this point he's on his own for rolls. I will follow if he makes his one, but he is just one success away from getting out together.
Davorin starts to try to wiggle his way through the last of the crowd to make it out with Peribras.

Dreggar bowls through the remaining mob, his sense of confidence palpable. When he finally pushes through to the outdoors, he looks around. "Did we all make it?"

Being the first one out, Sarephta considers how to help her companions pressed in the throng inside.

After a struggle, Daryus pushes his way out of the tavern.
Jhon Doe |
Davorin, the GM as stated that we can`t move more than our base speed but it's not difficult terrain.
GM. I`m waiting to see if Peribras needs help, if not threating the mob without result and then moving out if the inn is ok for me
Davorin Blackridge |
What Shifty just said. Don't wait, post with alternative choices. These specials aren't games where you can wait for the perfect opportunity to post because they are going at their own pace behind the scene. For example the fight was one week, and since we didn't make it out, I'm guessing we have until Tuesday to make it out and resolve follow up before the next encounter.
Regardless, of how I might have read difficult terrain or not, I was factoring in three squares of movement for me and two for our colleague per round. In case I was wrong about my interpretation I hid an alternative for our GM (it's safe to look at). We will see if it works, if not oh well!

I'll do that, but now, to simplify things just lets stay with shouting for no effect and then going out

Looks like you are pretty much out of the tavern, and like the GM suggests, these things are on an unforgiving timer so a little bit of pre-emptive text is required if you are waiting on others, ie If A then B, otherwise C. All good. So far only one group os 300gp out of pocket :p

***OVERSEER ANNOUCEMENT***
1d100 ⇒ 66
The arrival of the morning brings with it the joys of a glowing Ruby!
That day you are greeted by a black-feathered tengu who introduces herself as your liaison to the Emissary of the Ruby Phoenix. She informs you that all contestants are to meet within a large shipping house near where the Docks meets the sodden district known as the Puddles and provides you with a specific time and directions to the event.
***
Following the directions given to you by your tengu liaison, you arrive just past dusk at the shipping house. Soon enough, a small crowd of would-be contestants begins to gather.
Approaching the entrance you spot a dishevelled, barefooted man dressed in plain sackcloth leaning in the shallow doorway. As you draw nearer, he slowly raises his head to examine the crowd. Then, grinning a toothy smile, he holds out his hand and asks “Any of you happen to find a ruby?”
The crowd excitedly signals their affirmative response and several glowing rubies are thrust into the air, there is an electric vibe flowing through the assembled host and everyone seems very ready for action.
The man nods and pushes the door open. Then he holds out a sack to collect the rubies of those seeking entry. As the various contestants enter, he directs them towards a flight of stairs near the back of the warehouse. These stairs descend into a wide and shadowy basement converted into a crude, make-shift arena illuminated by a ring of greasy-scented torches. The main floor is cleared of all objects save for a dusting of sand and straw that covers the cold stone floor. An assortment of contestants have already arrived, anxiously scanning the room. Almost all in attendance are recognizable from the previous night’s brawl.
From across the arena floor strides Kiang Zhen, the terrifying creature who represents Sifu Xho Nuo. Clapping her massive, clawed hands, she calls for silence, and with a low growl addresses the entire room as she runs her hands over her gruesome golden horns.
“Bringing defeat upon your perceived adversaries is only part of what it takes to walk the path of a truly great warrior. A true master sees beyond his adversaries; he sees the war and not just the battle. Last night, I watched how all of you were quick and eager to fight one another—therefore today... today I shall see how you fight together! Let’s see how well you can keep each other alive!” As she finishes this exuberant and enigmatic statement, smoke flashes erupt throughout the arena, and several dozen hidden trapdoors suddenly spring open, unleashing a horde of otherworldly beasts!
Davorin Blackridge |
In response to Sarephta's question, I'd preemptively roll your healing now, so we're fully healed by the time we get to the next event. If GM DevilDoc has alternate requests, he can certainly ask us to change our actions. Our damage was listed in one of his last posts.
Davorin draws his sword and shield, clearly ready for the ensuing fight. He smiles cheerfully, "My friends, work as a team and stick together and I'm sure we'll be victorious!"
GM DevilDoc |
I apologize for my absence yesterday. Any heal checks can and do need to be made.
Retcon for the GM
The team makes it out of the Tavern just in time, and quickly makes there way to an inn. The closest one with any vacancies is the "Flying Alderman", where the innkeep approaches you with a smile. During the ensuing conversation, his wayfinder just happens to peek out from his robes, leading you to identify yourselves as Pathfinders as well. As such, he leads you to a set of rooms, explaining that the tab has been covered by the Society in advance of your arrival. You all get a restful sleep, nursing your wounds and scrapes back to health. The next morning, you sit around a table, anxiously awaiting one of the rubies to announce that you made it to the second round. The team lets out a collective shout of relieve and exaltation as one of the rubies piled on the table alights with a fiery red glow.
At the Tourney
All manner of beasts erupt from trap doors all across the arena floor, throwing themselves violently upon the different groups of contestants. Suddenly, a group of small, metallic cobras made of overlapping iron plates turns towards you and attack.

The first snake takes a bite out of Darkpaw, but the other one does not have quite the luck rushing for Sarephta.

GM DevilDoc |
Daryus lands a solid blow on the snake with his sword. The blade does some damage, but as he holds it against the snake, electricity courses through the construct, ending it in a spectacular sizzle.

Yall are almost certain to eliminate the last creature today while I am asleep (AC 20, 15 HP, DR 5/-, SR 13). Post an action and do your thing, but you will also have a full turn to heal/regroup before the next wave. Use it wisely! ;-) Hopefully when I get up tonight, I will be able to push us forward into the next combat.
Davorin Blackridge |
Davorin strikes at the yellow snake with both of his attacks, trying to slam it into the ground.
Full Round: Attack (2-handed, Power Attack, Flank)

Well with those rolls I'm not going to be doing much to move us forward. Hopefully the wolf has better luck.
GM: AC 22, 26 vs. AoOs provoked by movement.
Jhon Doe |
Jhon moves to help with the last cobra. Lets finish it before the next wave come! He states has his rapier pierces the metal body.

GM, are all the red squares pits? We know of all of them?
Dreggar |
Dreggar races in for the kill.
regular axe attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
vicious damage to it: 1d10 + 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + (6, 5) + 4 = 19
vicious damage to me: 1d6 ⇒ 2
GM DevilDoc |
Jhon/All: Yes, the red squares are pits from which all the creatures erupted to start combat. You saw them pop out, and the DC is only 5 to see them, so I went ahead and gave it to yall. Keep in mind that ALL of the Pathfinders attempting to get into the Tourney are currently battling their own targets within the arena all around you.
Davorin fails to connect, ending his streak of death and damage!
Damage: 1d6 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Jhon rushes in behind him though, and strikes the fatal blow. Dreggar rolls in late to the party and manages to land his first blow.. on the dead construct. Sorry, I couldn't help myself!! No vicious damage for you, though!
The party regroups to the side of the arena, and has a moment to breathe and heal up. Please retcon any actions for one round of rest. The way this is timed, I cant wait too long for everything to catch up one post at a time.
Suddenly, a tengu jumps over the railing with his sword in hand. He offers a salute to you before rushing forward!
