Devko starts looking around, weapon ready. He's interested by the remnant of the forge and the symbol on it. He sketches them, hoping to find at the Society someone able to determine what they are.
When they found the bag, he says I think we found what we were looking for! It was finally quite easy.
Devko continues to look for any clue or secret passage.

Bag of holding is type V
A short wall to the east of the dais holds a secret door, and was picked up by Devko as they explore the ruins. Inside the secret passage, a narrow corridor curves around the north end of the chapel, and is covered with dust that has apparently lain here undisturbed for centuries. Three large, spherical stones with a rough textured black surface sit on the floor at the far end of the passage. Each is approximately 2 feet in diameter, weighs around 750 pounds.

Since it was brought up...
Nil. These stones do not radiate evil.
The dull brown Geodes emanate a magical aura while the black ones do not. [ooc]Spellcraft DC22 for next spoiler

Spellcraft (with detect magic): 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 = 22
As Devko studies the stones he says
for evil, I have no idea, but the black one are not magical and the brown ones radiate magic as if inside there is a delayed blast fireball imbued in it.
So be careful...
Could be safer to use the bag we just found earlier to move them.
GM Batpony
|
Just so that I'm clear, Is the intention to bag all the geodes and then head to the next part?
Theodric de LaMontagne
|
Can you clarify how many dull brown delayed blast fireball stones and how many black ones? is it 5 x 1000lbs. and 3 x 750lbs.? I don't think that bag can carry all this... we may need to have Devko cast suggestion on a bunch of giants for carrying duty... or one with ant haul enhancement... also... reading the spell 'delayed blast fireball' does not really encourage me with 'handling' the dull brown stones at all... since the old crone's legend says you need dragon fire to ignite the stones, the dull brown ones may be a red herring, and the true stones could be the nonmagical black ones.... we might need some bardic legend and lore or clerical communing with the planes to find some answers here...
GM Batpony
|
That knowledge is actually in the second kn. Arcana that none succeeded yet. :P brown fireball 1000lb x 6 pieces (found in room M2) , black 750lb x 3 pieces (found in secret passage)
Theodric de LaMontagne
|
Since our bag is type V, we can only carry 2,500 lbs. Which means the three 750 lbs. stones. Problem solved by math! :)
GM Batpony
|
That's one way to look at it! But do make an in character decision else I won't be able to move us forward.
Theodric de LaMontagne
|
"I doubt we should even go near them, Harsk. They look like they might weigh 1,000 lbs. And Devko said they may detonate like a fireball if handled... the black stones appear slightly lighter. I could handle them if one of you has an enchantment of ant hauling, but I doubt even my belt-enhanced strength would enable me to move them normally. Perhaps just 'drag' one, if given enough time and rope, but to pluck one out from the ground and put it in a bag: I don't think so."
Devko Obradev
|
In this case, let them here, hidden in the passage and we will show the black one to the priestess to see if these are the right one.
Theodric de LaMontagne
|
"Very well. Can someone enhance my carrying capacity?" answers Theodric. He opens the Giant Bag of Holding, carefully peering inside to see if there's anything in there first, and awaits the spell, before loading the 750 lbs. stones in the bag one by one.
Theodric de LaMontagne
|
Harsk can communal ant haul, caster level 11 I believe: can Theodric have 12 hours' worth and rest of party split the remaining 10 hours? my light load would go from 233 to 700... I could easily load the stones and then carry the giant bag of holding for the whole traveling day...
GM Batpony
|
That works.
After taking some time to discern and discuss the discovery of the geodes, the group begins to haul the lighter geodes into the magically enhance giant bag before leaving the ruins to the next one.
As you wander the dry, barren, and harsh valleys, you come to an unusually green, and swampy area. As the valley draws to a close, the swamp grasses begin to thicken and the waters begin to take on a ruddy tinge as the sediments shift from the black silty earth of the lowlands to the iron-rich clay of the mountain soil. Just beyond the bog, near the far end of the canyon, rises an ancient brick structure. A shallow stone channel extends from an arch in the building’s cracked and weathered facade, from which flows a sluggish stream of ruddy mud. A broad stone patio surrounds the channel, with doors on either side leading into the building.
Map is up. Also, the door is not locked, but heavy and wedged shut, so do let me know how you intend to enter the building. Obviously breaking the door is an option, the stone channel is 5 ft deep.

Theodric covers the giant bag of holding in the bushes. He then heads straight for the door and puts his boot into it.

I can use Stone Shape to get us past the door.
If the party wants to use Stone Shape, Glaube insists that they all stand in a circle and hold hands offering a prayer to the Dawnflower. "Oh, Everflame," he begins. "We are gathered here in the midst of conflict to bring an end to evil. For that purpose, we offer you this one thought" Glaube inhales deeply and lets out a cleansing breathe before continuing: "Knock knock."

You don't hear anything on the inside.

Ok to assume heroism on Theodric before each dungeon Devko?
Theodric raise an eyebrow at Glaube's sudden preaching mood. "What's gotten into you? If you'll only cast spells if 'my intentions are pure' then perhaps I shall sheathe my sword until you lead from the front row. I'm not holding any hands with you man! wouldn't that throw off your spell-casting anyhow? bwahahaha!"
GM Batpony
|
To make it easier, I added a slide in the maps for that. Note whatever preps you think you'll make pre-dungeon exploration. I use the term dungeon loosely, but I mean, any place that you might deem dangerous/hostile/but won't know what happens.
Regardless, I prefer moving us on and not pausing for that.I'm assuming you choose to go through the front door whether it be holding hands, casting, or just merely hacking it down.
The interior of the structure is a single large room. Both the walls and the floor, fashioned from tremendous mud bricks, are badly cracked, though the north wall still bears the faded image of a crescent moon overlaying a jagged mountain peak. A large mechanism stands near the center of the room, consisting of a stone pipe that disgorges muddy water onto a great stone slab. The water spills from the slab into a wide catch pool before draining out through a channel in the floor.
A worn workbench runs the length of the western wall and wraps around the northwest corner of the room. A large stone mortar and pestle sit next to a smaller table to the north. From where you stand, it's difficult to make out what lies on the table but it is heavily littered with something. Three huge clay statues stand along the eastern wall, while a tall, black-lacquered cabinet with ornately carved doors and iron handles sits in the southeast corner.
Map is updated, Move your tokens as necessary.

The human cleric shrugs sheepishly. "Sorry. Force of habit."
Glaube will defer to the brawnier party members if Theodric doesn't want to pray. He's a little disappointed that he didn't get to incorporate a knock knock joke into a spell. But, he's happy that there's a convenient way past the door.

Noted, was probably thinking of something else..
Did not bypass DR5/adamantine and ???. Prayer has a 40ft burst, so none of the "golems" would have been hit.
In the face of danger, most of the Pathfinders react by taking a moment to prepare for the threat through use of magic. But not Theodric, he rushes across the open floor to face the golems head on! His weapon cuts through their thick skin, but unsually, the creatures are soft on the inside, as if cutting through soft clay. Green liquid (blood?), begin seeping out of the creature.
The creatures slowly (Move speed 20ft) make their way towards the closest enemy. With all they might they attempt to crush the human fighter, but is no match against his defensive dodges.

Assuming Harsk fires at the Red one. Takes fire damage normally but the attack did not bypass the DR5/adamantine & ???. First 3 attacks killed it's "clay form". Last attacks against the ooze.
Harsk fires a few rounds with his enhanced bow allowing to penetrate through the thick rock like skin of the creature. More cracks begin to form and more green liquid being seeping out of each crack, but they do not flow easily and seem to be oozing out. As more arrows crack the creature, it suddenly burst causing the sharp fragments of stone that was it's skin to projectile across the room in a 30ft spread.
What emerges immediately is an Ooze like creature! Harsk immediately recognizes this creature to be a Benaioh, an acidic ooze without any resistances but can over time form a clay shell to encase it making it seem like a giant statue.
