It does seem a bit over reacting. Remember that regardless of how you think your character would react you are the one responsible for creating the character and ultimately you created a concept that reacts this way

I find characters tend more to create themselves, but more importantly we are dealing with a traumatic situation, a stranger taking liberties, and a major size difference. If you saw a 5'4 100 something pound woman smack a 6'4 300lbs strange man away because he came from behind and tried to reach over her you would come to her defense. It is a natural reaction, and this escalates to violence when someone has training in weapons, a weapon on them, and is thrust into a situation were they believe they are in danger. This is not a case of the character acting because the character is written to react this way, this is an actual normal response when weighed against the spectrum of human reaction in a given situation.

Take it easy...the situation has resolved itself, and if reaching for a bottle of wine is taking liberties, then I must say THAT is an overreaction. Also, I am an elf, not a hulking beast. Read the profile.

I would not come to her aid, as she is not under attack. He is. The size difference is irrelevant; she is assaulting him without good cause. I would say that reaching over one who is shorter than yourself might be obnoxious, but not cause for hitting him and then having other men come and attack him as well. That's absurd.

And Saladraxis didn't even hit Filios - she turned, saw what it was that he was doing, and then shot him. If your character is so on edge and distrustful that she will shoot someone for taking a bottle of wine, then she is the one who needs watching, not him.

And I am small as all get out read the profile. If I was human this would be completely different. And taking something from a stranger without asking is the very definition of taking liberties.

Male Human (Tian-La) Unbreakable Fighter, Martial Artist, Invulnerable Barbarian 1/1/2 8/35 hp

The character may have been made too paranoid or with too much of a twitchy finger.

Sal, I respectfully disagree. I have made my position clear. We can move on now.

Are you looking for anything in particular, Sal? Land is nowhere in sight, as per before.

It is late; many of you are probably tired, especially considering the recent activity.

Female Svirfneblin unchained monk 1 / unchained rogue (Earth Shadow) 1

Nothing in particular. I was asked to look for land so that was my plan. Although if I see that crow flying in a certain direction I will point it out.

Haggin, those boots are medium size and probably don't fit.

Oh, I thought magical boots changed in size to fit the wearer. Meh, maybe that's a D&D thing. If they are too big I'll take them off.

My apologies, just read in the core that magic items do conform to size, which makes me think of all the times I gave up a magic item because it was the wrong size class.

All in favor of glossing over thr setting up watch shifts rping and jumping to morning or an event in the night? Dristen wants the dawn watch and will ask for the spyglass to use. He'll also make sure that the anchor is down and the sails are rolled up.

Unless someone wants to blast Haggin for looting the captain. Drysten might but i don't see a personality shift opportunity coming up anytime soon.

Male Half-Orc Alchemist (Grenadier) 4 | HP 21/23 | AC 15 | T 12 | FF 13 | CMD 17 | Fort +5 | Ref +6 | Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7 | Sense Motive +0

Sounds good. I suppose we'll pair up with a crew member or something? Ariston will take whichever watch he's assigned, but might grumble a bit if it isn't an earlier one.

Male Halfling Cleric 4| HP (27/27)| AC 22|CMD 14|Init +4|Perc +5|Sense +5|F +4|R +4|W +7|

9 hours , 7 pcs, 4 able bodied crew, 4 injured crew, 1 hysterical first mate. Most shifts will likely be 1 person.

Male Human (Tian-La) Unbreakable Fighter, Martial Artist, Invulnerable Barbarian 1/1/2 8/35 hp

I will cover mid shift etc.

Male Gnome Sorcerer (3) HP (16/16)| AC/T/FF 12/12/11|CMD 10|Init +1|Perc +4|Sense +0|F +3|R +2|W +3|

I can volunteer for first watch.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

I will take whichever is left.

Male Half-Orc Alchemist (Grenadier) 4 | HP 21/23 | AC 15 | T 12 | FF 13 | CMD 17 | Fort +5 | Ref +6 | Will +1 | Init +2 | Perc +7 | Sense Motive +0

Those 4 injured crew have broken bones. I don't know if that would preclude them from taking watch. But you're right - even if we did double up some hours would have only one on watch. It just seems we would want to get the most mileage out of everyone. One person can't keep eyes on all parts of the boat.

Male Halfling Cleric 4| HP (27/27)| AC 22|CMD 14|Init +4|Perc +5|Sense +5|F +4|R +4|W +7|

12 people double for 6 shifts and 3 people are by themselves. I would ask for an accompanying able bodied crew member to get the ship up and running.

Male Gnome Sorcerer (3) HP (16/16)| AC/T/FF 12/12/11|CMD 10|Init +1|Perc +4|Sense +0|F +3|R +2|W +3|

I'll agree to whatever the acting captain elects to do. I am no sailor.

Male Halfling Cleric 4| HP (27/27)| AC 22|CMD 14|Init +4|Perc +5|Sense +5|F +4|R +4|W +7|

Waiting on if Sal will give the looking glass to Dristen?

Female Svirfneblin unchained monk 1 / unchained rogue (Earth Shadow) 1

Lol, well you could ask her for it back in gameplay.

Male Halfling Cleric 4| HP (27/27)| AC 22|CMD 14|Init +4|Perc +5|Sense +5|F +4|R +4|W +7|

Yeah, that would have to wait until other things happen, like anchor is down, sails are rolled, everyone is set for when they have watch... If we can agree on that (and GM is good) I'll post it. I don't want to take away the GM's control though.

Setting the shipwork, glass transfer, and watch for the night should all be done in the gameplay thread. You may assume the crew is presently cooperative with you for the sake of fluidity.

Sal, waiting on you to say if you see anything with the glass.

I will be on vacation starting Saturday and will not be back until the following Saturday evening. However I will have my laptop with me so I should be able to post each day but I'll make no promises. I'll probably will be able to post more this evening in the event something happens.

If you need my character to make an action and I'm not around, feel free to do what you feel is best.

Female Svirfneblin unchained monk 1 / unchained rogue (Earth Shadow) 1

Did already. Shook her head sadly at Dristen.

Male Halfling Cleric 4| HP (27/27)| AC 22|CMD 14|Init +4|Perc +5|Sense +5|F +4|R +4|W +7|

Happens.

So who wants hearing cured? Dristen will volunteer right away, but back off if others seem to want it, he'd rather make friends.

If nobody has any strong opinions by tomorrow, I'll go with first come, first serve. That means Dristen is in.

I'm a bit concerned about the pace of things, so I'm trying to move them along. Sorry if it's been lagging for some; I'm trying to establish a solid timeline before moving forward.

NP...as I indicated in the gamethread, I want my hearing restored, and I wouold certainly volunteer to be the guinea pig, but I am not sure that i am aware of the offer.

man I wish I was on deck =(

I'm thinking I wasn't really around what was happening with Dristen, but finding the magic aura of the blood brought me back. It has been a little tough trying to keep track of where people are, if we are on watch, etc. when we have a nuber of little story lines playing out. I've just been letting them play and not get in the way.

Filios, you would've been notified by some of the crew as they go to find the afflicted at Wald's request. You and Dristen will be the recipients of the treatment.

The pile would start to be formed by the time you're awake, Haggin, but it might not be completely done. Dristen, your osirions from yesterday (and all spells uncast) are still ready until you refresh your spells - in which case you get whatever you newly prepared.

Waiting on Quiahar/Ariston.

Will give it until Tuesday, then moving forward if people are still around.

Yeah, I'm here also. Back from vacation. I couldn't post anything today, not until now.

Thanks for the notice. I'm assuming (hoping) the rest are still here, though it seems we have some on an extended vacation as well. True to my word, I'll wait until tomorrow before jaunting forward.

GM, I sent you a PM on Friday, did you not get it? Sorry if there was any confusion - you don't have to wait on me (Ariston should be still asleep at this point), and I didn't have anything to add to the healing scene.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

I am here and I can hear!

Sorry, Ariston, I must have missed the PM.

Please head over to this link to see the map of our current situation. I decided to go with roll20 after I couldn't find anything nice with a hex grid.

You should be able to see all your pretty faces on the ship (with the exception of Gansukh who's not on deck at the moment). I do flanking rules slightly differently:

1. Facing rules. If you are on the back-diagonals (as well as directly behind) from where someone is facing, you get a flanking bonus/able to sneak attack. Beware for this also works against you. However, inanimate objects/terrain do not provide a flanking bonus if they are on those diagonals (because you can still back-up); terrain/objects still will if they are directly behind you though.

2. NPCs who've taken their first turn in combat and have their senses about them will turn to prevent flanking attempts (of which they are aware) if they are holding/readying an action and the pivoting doesn't put them in greater danger.

In the past, I've found such assumptions allow for a more realistic battlefield as people care moreso about their positioning.

Also, if you wouldn't mind, could you in the race/class lines of your Paizo characters' profiles put your:

Initiative
Perception
Sense Motive
Saves
AC
CMD
HP

It should appaear as some of the information in the gray text below Dristen's name does.

I'm assuming from the map that happened before/as I was walking to the helm?

Dristen Dagger wrote:

No. I just wanted to give people the opportunity to see exactly what things looked like to describe where they would be. Easier with a picture, I thought.

Male Halfling Cleric 4| HP (27/27)| AC 22|CMD 14|Init +4|Perc +5|Sense +5|F +4|R +4|W +7|

Ok, can you make it editable so we can move our own pictures? And yes, the map does make it much easier to understand the situation.

Male Gnome Sorcerer (3) HP (16/16)| AC/T/FF 12/12/11|CMD 10|Init +1|Perc +4|Sense +0|F +3|R +2|W +3|

I'm assuming that is where I was, at the edge of the boat, looking over the side.
