On the positive side (as opposed to griping all the time :D) I am liking the clarification and simplification of some of the actions. "Stride, Step, Strike" are very clean and simple terms that are making my posts more organized. There is a lot else about P2 that I am liking.

Hi all, I've been feeling very badly about dropping the ball on our game. I keep checking the current posts and thinking, ok, I *really* need to get caught up now, but between some hectic stuff on the home front and having a few too many other games to keep up with at the moment (including a couple of high tier ones that I'm GM-ing), I just haven't been able to. It doesn't help that I haven't found the time to actually read the playtest rulebook yet, despite my best intentions, so when I think about actually posting a turn I realize that I don't actually know what my character can do or how to do it. So, all in all, I think it's probably best if I just drop from the game. My sincere apologies and I hope that this doesn't disrupt anything for the other players. I hope you all have fun and I look forward to playing with everyone on other occasions.
all the best,
Abraham Z. (aka Kyra Z.)

I hope so too. I had begun to think somehow I was just not seeing posts in this game, given the complete silence here.
I sent a PM to Elinnea Monday evening and have not heard anything. I let Hmm know last evening.
I am not distressed by a pause in the game and real life must always come first, just worried about our wonderful GM.
Thanks for your reply, Tessel.
Cain of Garund
I'm also not distressed about the game, just hoping our GM is okay.
Cain slams his meaty fists together and prays to the heavens, "oh mighty master of all, show us a sign!" :P

I am heading out to Skal Con, leaving way early in the morning. I hope to check in at least once each day but if play resumes, please feel free to bot me as needed.
I will continue to send positive thoughts to Elinnea and hope that all is well.
Playtest Pooka
Actually yeah, from the initial recruitment post - seems a bit sudden but maybe we've hit that 'late September' point?
Jorgon Dunn
I think if this was the originally planned break Elinnea would have provided a reminder. I will try to check with Hmm tomorrow to see if she knows anything.
Have a great weekend everyone.
GM Elinnea
Hey guys!
I apologize for suddenly disappearing. Between car troubles and health issues I have been completely overwhelmed this last week. I still have a lot going on but at least with the weekend I have some time to rest and catch up. I'll be able to get an update by this evening.
Thank you all for your concern.
FYI, we have another week before my official extended break, so I'm sure we'll be able to finish this quest before I go.
Jorgon Dunn
Good to hear from you, Elinnea.
While I am sorry that life has been throwing you extra challenges, I am very happy to hear that you are basically OK. Take the time you need.
Be well
Katrina

Good to have you back, Elinnea. Hang in there, and know that we'll still be here even if you need some extra time to sort things out.
GM Elinnea
@Abraham Done!
For the people remaining: the completion of one quest is a perfect place to stop, so yes we will be taking our break here.
After I get back, in mid-late October, I'm willing to continue with the rest if you wish to do so. We can also let it end here; you all get 1 playtest point for having completed one quest, whether we finish the rest or not. Or some of you can continue and others end here... or we can leave it undecided and check in on how you feel a month from now.
So it's up to you how we proceed. :)
Cain of Garund
I don't know what the playtest points are actually for, but either way I'm all for continuing later. I'm in this to learn the system.
Jorgon Dunn
I am happy to continue later.
@Cain - playtest points will accumulate and be tradeable for some as yet to be disclosed choices for the PFS Second Edition when the time comes.
@Elinnea - thank you for running this. I am sorry you were plagued with so many additional challenges. I thought you did an excellent job and I have enjoyed the game. I look forward to completion at a later date.
Interestingly, at SkaalCon last weekend, one of my PFS characters had the opportunity to meet the creature missing from the pit in this scenario. The hat of disguise is clearly linked to them too.
GM Elinnea
Ok, sounds good. Then I will post here when I'm ready to go again, and then follow up with PMs if it seems like anyone hasn't gotten the notification.
Tessel Bint Alim
I'm up for continuing as well. Please PM me when we resume. I don't have any other campaigns running, so I won't check the My Campaigns page very often.
GM Elinnea
Heads up: I got home yesterday evening, so I'm getting all unpacked and un-jetlagged. As soon as I'm organized I'll be able to start up our game again, so I'll PM everyone when that time comes.
Playtest Pooka
Though it shouldn't affect my posting too much, my work schedule has been shifted to solely night shifts in the wake of our one dedicated night shift person quitting unexpectedly. This will probably be what I'm doing for the somewhat-foreseeable-future so you'll be less likely to see posts from me during daylight hours (say, anywhere from about 8-10am up to 5-7pm CST).
Obviously this won't actually be relevant until we get started again but I wanted to give a heads up now :)
GM Elinnea
Thanks for the advance warning! I'll keep it in mind.
After numerous delays, I'm (finally) ready to start up again. I've been trying to decide what to do about the playtest rules updates. There were some major changes while I was away that I'm still trying to read and catch up on. My thought is to stick with the rules as we were playing them before the break, instead of changing in the middle of a game, which would affect peoples' characters.
Does anyone have strong feelings or objections to that?
Cain of Garund
I don't have any objections to that. I haven't honestly kept up with the changes, but as of the last I checked my Barbarian was not effected by anything new.
Jorgon Dunn
I don't mind which version we use but may need some help with my character. Due to life being crazy, I had not fully fleshed out the PbP character sheet and was relying heavily on HLO to check things that had not come across. HLO is fully updated to version 1.5 and while I have already pointed out to them that the automatic application to already existing characters affects players who are mid-game, it was too late for this one. I do have the book though so will try to check what I can before posting. When I am away from home (like now) it will be a little more difficult.
Glad to have you back, Elinnea and to resume the game.
Jorgon Dunn
I expect she is super busy and this game was not originally on her schedule for now. We were going to hopefully finish in September but the forums being down really delayed us.
I'd like to finish but I'd also understand calling it and just taking our partial credit for Playtest Points.
GM Elinnea
Hi guys, I'm afraid I have to apologize yet again. It feels like this game has been a rough one from start to now, and I haven't been able to handle it very well personally. I've had the next quest prepped and I thought I was ready to forge onward... but it turned out I seriously underestimated a few things going on for me, in the offline world. And now it feels like Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which is disheartening. That will be a busy time for me as well. I know how frustrating it is when people just vanish though, and I should have been communicating better along the way.
At this point we definitely won't be able to finish the entire quest series by the end of the convention. I'm inclined to report it as-is and leave it there. I can try to find another GM to adopt the game if you'd like to continue on outside of the convention.
I feel bad that I haven't been able to honor the commitment I made to finish the game with you all, and I hope it won't leave a bad impression of the playtest or play-by-post gaming.
Playtest Pooka
Not at all! It's amazing just how quickly stuff can get the drop on you IRL and that should always come before PbP. So I don't blame you at all and I hope things will even out for you soon :)
As far as the game itself goes, I'm also inclined to leave it here because my own RL is busy and it wouldn't hurt me to lose a game or two. So I think I'll be bowing out at this juncture as well but I also hope that won't stop the rest of the group from finding a new GM and finishing up if that's what they want to do.
Jorgon Dunn
Glad to hear from you Elinnea. I have enjoyed your GMing in both games I have played with you. While it is disappointing that this one didn't complete, it was also not unexpected once the big delay from the site being down occurred.
I am fine with the decision to report as is. Should others wish to find someone to continue the quests I will try to remain available for it. I am also fine with accepting the situation and not trying to squeeze in more to my schedule during this increasingly busy time of year.
Happy gaming everyone and thank you for sharing this experience and helping to make it a good one. I hope to game with you again in the future.
Cain of Garund
We obviously won't be able to finish any parts before the end of gameday, so I'm all for reporting it now. With the busyness of certain end of year holidays pending, I would vote for just calling an end to any further group attempts as well. That would free us up to look for other V2 stuff without worrying.
Does anyone know if there are limits or rules for replay-ability of stuff?
Jorgon Dunn
Playtest can be replayed as much as you want. In fact, playing the same character with different changes in rules can provide some valuable insight.
You can even play the same character in two or more games simultaneously if you want but that is challenging to track.
Characters do not continue past Playtest. We will start fresh with Second Edition. We do not receive chronicles, rather we receive Playtest Points which are pooled with all play and GM experiences during Playtest. Points will be spent on some as yet to be determined (or at least announced) benefits in 2E.
GM Elinnea
Could you all let me know your PFS# for reporting purposes? The playtest character number should be a -1501, unless you've chosen to create more than one character ID for yourself. Personally I'm just using 1501 for everything I'm doing playtest-wise.
