Game Master S
Janzi relays information as quickly as he can. these are the immature offspring of a skreesire. While they haven't developed the immunity to acid that the sire has, they're resistant to weapons not made of cold iron. On the offense, they can swarm into a small area, becoming more dangerous than the sum of their numbers would have you expect.

Hack-it and Sputter don't really help as much, and the opening for all the aliens to attack is just too good for them to pass over it.
The skreesire, clearly ready to fight to the death. Unable to control Booker, opts to go back to mauling Dunklezahn. It switches to its sharp teeth: Bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27 for DMG: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Cold Iron Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
If Gig manages to take it out with a MM, Booker will swivel to fire at Black.
Another bullet slides into the chamber...
Hack-It
Hack-It lets Sputter do his work.
Azimuth Laser Rifle: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
He curses the drone, and takes his own shot on the skreesire
Tactical Semi-auto Pistol: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
... And he curses some more.
Gig Razorbyte
Despite the bats close in around him, Gig stays focussed on taking down the large octobeastie. Casting defensively, he casts magic missile on the beast.
I am unclear if there is still casting defensively in Starfinder, but if there is, that is what Gig is trying.
Concentration: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 2) + 3 = 12
Game Master S
So there is no casting spells defensively any more. There is also no concentration to keep a spell if youre hit. If you take damage, the spell fizzles. THREAD. Since that means it's SUPER high risk to cast next to a combatant, Gig would likely take a guarded step, then cast.
That means it's only two missiles, which means...
Gig takes a step towards Booker and casts his spell. The missiles slam into the alien, finally dishing out more pain than it can handle. With a splash it falls dead into the acid!
Neither Hack-it nor Sputter can seem to hit the flying foes, but Booker has no problem, scoring a nice hit.

Gig can't seem to shake his Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Finally Sputter brings down the third creature. After a battle that felt like an eternity, the party can catch their breath.
For defeating not only a skreesire, but 3 skreelings, the party earns 5,600 XP.

"Well, that was an experience," Booker comments, lighting a cigarette and puffing on it while checking over his weapon. He leaves it loaded with cold iron. "You kids okay?"
He saunters over to lean against the rock outcropping and trains his sniper rifle's sight on what appears to be a pile of junk the next crater over.
Hack-It
Hack-It looks over his slightly battered drone. Severed wires jut out, and the normally rhythmic whir of Sputter's motors is now a staccato cadence. The mechanic pulls up wrist console and runs a scan. "Another bad servo? Damn it, you useless rust bucket. Why do you keep glitching?"
Pulling out some tools, Hack-It gets to work. "I'm going to need ten minutes. I honestly could use more, but ten will do for now."
Using my 1/day to repair Sputter 10% his HP.

While working through the various fixes for Sputter, Hack-It looks furtively around him, making sure nobody in the group is paying attention. as he works over the repairs, he weaves in some newly acquired technomancy tricks.
Mending on Sputter: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Once repairs are done, he says places his hand on Sputters mounted laser rifle and weaves some more technomancy. "Let's just supercharge your next shot, little buddy," he says, uncharacteristically nice to his drone. Supercharge Weapon on Sputter

With the skreesire and skreelings defeated, Janzi holsters his laser pistol and moves over to the body that got them into this mess in the first place. Take 10 on Medicine for 20, on Perception for 21.
