Ah that reminds me. Since Nau doesn't have selective channeling he was waiting for the battle to be over. He has 5 channels and he can use them to help out.
Channeling right after fight: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) = 11
Assuming in the next 2 rounds you don't get into a fight you will all get 11 hp back.
Thorst Worten
Thorst looks back to see how many of the others have followed him down then nods forward. He readies his weapon and gives the signal for someone to open the door. If no one is there he moves in.
GM Void Dragon
No-one is in there and when you enter you see three copper bowls filled with glowing coals hanging from the ceiling of this long, natural cavern. The braziers fill the chamber with warmth and soft orange light. In the center of the chamber stands a block of granite that serves as a table, lined with ramshackle wooden chairs. An enormous bloodstain, maybe a week old, darkens the table’s surface. Two doors are in this room. One at the upper part of this room and one at the lower.
Thorst Worten
Before moving into the room he quickly looks around for anything suspicious or strange.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Thorst follows Halara and readies for whatever might be on the other side again.
GM Void Dragon
Well this area has only a few more encounters left and after that you will be making it up to the city. At that point I will pause for a bit and open up a recruitment for 1-2 more players. You will also hit level 3 then, so during the time it takes you to level I should have some candidates.
As you open the door you see two figures standing there. One is a woman wearing a chain shirt holding a glaive. The other is a hulking tiefling with jagged horns and hoofed feet. As soon as you open the door the woman looks at you all and screeches.
"Assassins! Come for my head have you? Well you won't get it that easily. Uziel attack!"
Halara Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Thorst Worten's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Valkyrie Stormseeker's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Woman: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Tielfing: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Round 1
Woman: AC 18, touch 14, flat-footed 16 CMD 15
Teifling: AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13 CMD 14
Thorst, Tiefling, Halara, Woman, Walkyrie
Thorst Worten
Thorst looks at the tiefling, "Spawn of demons you will die."
He swings with all the power he can at the Tiefling.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 2 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1) + 9 + 3 = 16
GM Void Dragon
The tiefling falls under the first blow of the enlarged half-orc, and the woman continues to yell at you.
"Liars! All of you must die, so that I may be safe.... I will not die here! I have too much that remains to be done!"
Thorst, Tiefling, Halara, Woman, Valkyrie
GM Void Dragon
The woman is unaffected by Halara's blow as her armor takes most of the force from it. In return she tries to slice up the barbarian that killed her fighter.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
With a smile she cuts the barbarian with her glaive.
Thorst, Tiefling, Halara, Woman, Valkyrie
Thorst Worten
"Whatever you are doing will not be completed here!"
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 2 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5) + 9 + 3 = 19
GM Void Dragon
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
The first casting of daze doesn't seem to affect the woman. Halara then attempts to strike the woman with her weapon.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
But she fails to land a blow. Then the woman attacks Thorst once again.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
She is able to get a very good cut on the barbairan, but then her eyes seem to glaze over from Valkyrie's spell.
Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Round 2
Woman: AC 18, touch 14, flat-footed 16 CMD 15
Thorst, Tiefling, Halara, Woman, Valkyrie
Woman: dazed
Thorst Worten
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11
Thorst swings again but the pain from the wound he had just received caused his arms to falter a little. He takes a step back from the woman.
GM Void Dragon
The tiefling falls under the first blow of the enlarged half-orc
Halara cuts open a gash on the woman's side, but she doesn't fall yet. The woman herself just stands there blankly for a bit due to Valkyrie's spell.
Thorst, Halara, Woman, Valkyrie
Thorst Worten
Assuming Valkyrie is going to daze her again.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 2 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (3, 1) + 12 = 16
Thorst swings again with a more accurate and powerful overhand attack.
GM Void Dragon
Well valkyrie already cast daze, and had it succeed so casting it again wouldn't do anything. That being said the woman isn't going anywhere.
The woman has just enough time to look up as the half-orc's blade comes down and cuts her down. She falls to the ground with a soft thud.
"No. I cannot die here..."
With that her heads falls back onto the ground a small pool of blood forming around her.
Thorst Worten
"What was it she was doing here I wonder." Thorst sighs and examines the room while breathing heavily. He is fatigued and heavily wounded.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Thorst Worten
CLW pot?
Thorst takes the offered potion and gulps it down, feeling slightly better.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
GM Void Dragon
You find several objects of interest on the unconscious tiefling and woman.
1 red potion (spellcraft for more)
1 black potion (spellcraft for more)
1 wand (spellcraft for more)
2 alchemist’s fire
1 tanglefoot bag
1 chain shirt
1 mwk glaive
1 antitoxin
1 bejeweled book of prayers (appraise/k. religion for more)
1 strange orders
1 lockbox key
32 gp
1 studded leather armor
1 short sword
1 light crossbow
20 bolts
10 gp
You also find a locked lockbox hidden under a desk in the room.
Valkyrie Stormseeker
Spellcraft Red: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Spellcraft Black: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Spellcraft Wand: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Perc ID Red: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Appraise: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
After examining a few things Val will pick up the strange orders and try to make sense of them..
Halara
Spellcraft Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Spellcraft Black: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Spellcraft Wand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
K.Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Since Val worries about the orders, she handles the lockbox, taking it along with the key to Anevia. "I know there's a key, but it never hurts to take a second look for traps, specially since it belonged to a foul woman."
Anevia Tirabade NPC
Anieva nods happy to be useful to the group. She takes her time examining the box from every angle taking around 2 minutes before speaking.
"I've checked this thing from top to bottom and the only thing I can notice is the lock. It doesn't seem to be trapped."
With that she tries the key that Halara handed her and a faint click sounds from the box. Anevia hands the now unlocked box back to the group so they might look inside.
GM Void Dragon
Both Halara, and Valkyrie are able to find out the effects of the potions and the wand. You know the red potion is a potion of CMW. The black potion is a potion of invisibility. The wand is a wand of spiritual weapon with 8 charges left. Working together you find the jewled book to be a prayer book to Baphomet and you estimate it would be worth around 50 gp.
The orders are posted in the map currently, but just in case you can't see them I will post them again here.
Hosilla,
You will remain, for the time being, in
Kenabres, but know this: the city’s days
are numbered. Seek a place of safety—the
underground den of your mongrel lackeys should
suffice to keep you safe from the devastation
to come. I shall assume command of Drezen
shortly, and once Vorlesh has finished with
the wardstone and Kenabres is no longer of
interest to us, you are to return to my side.
Excellent news regarding the salvage of
Yaniel’s sword from the museum as well—bring
it with you, for I believe this weapon could
be quite useful once we corrupt it. Before you
leave for Drezen, stop by the three safe houses
(Nyserian Manor, Topaz Solutions, and the
Tower of Estrod—the passphrase remains “I’ve
new material for the archives,” for now) to
ensure no evidence remains behind.
May Lord Deskari and Lord Baphomet watch
over you!
S. V.
Thorst Worten
"A servant of the Demons that attacked Kenabres. Luckily we have stopped her. A small victory. If that sword is down here we need to find it. I know we all want to get back to the surface but keeping it out of the enemy hands could be vital." Thorst takes a look inside the chest and takes the healing potion if no one else needs it.
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 8) + 3 = 13
Valkyrie Stormseeker
"Go ahead and drink the heal pot Thorst.. Ill take the invis pot for scouting if yall dont mind.. I agree about the sword.. We should find it and when we get out of this place we should investigate the locations talked about.."
GM Void Dragon
Inside of the lockbox you find a small leather pouch bulging with what appears to be gems (one appraise to find out price of them all). One scroll of bear's endurance, and another scroll of remove disease. Also there is a finely made darkwood sword case with a word inside.
Halara
Appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Halara takes the book, the flasks of fire and antitoxin, tanglefoot bag, and scrolls. Then she detects magic on the sword case, before trying to read the word.
"Well, if she was still down here, might mean the city is not in enemy's possession, although if things remain this way it could certainly be. Let's be careful when arriving at the surface, but for now I see no other option than to keep moving."
GM Void Dragon
While Valkyrie and Halara are stumped by the worth of these gems Thorst remembers seeing some gems like these in his childhood. He is confident that selling all of them you would get 280 gp.
You can sense strong abjuration magic coming off of the sword itself.
Taking a closer look at the sword case you can see a beautiful red handle that seems to almost sparkle in the light. The blade itself is covered by the case and you cannot see anything else of it.
Also as you liberate the sword you feel not only good, but a small sensation of heat coming from the piece of metal that the mongrelman leader gave to you. You feel them become magical, and immediately know what they can do.
Resistance: Three times per day as a standard action, this iron scrap can be used to cast resist elements—but only against electricity or cold.
Sacred Weaponry: Three times per day as a standard action, this iron scrap can be used to cast align weapon, but only to make a weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon spell, this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.
Cloudwalking: Three times per day as a standard action, this iron scrap can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and shrinking with the target’s altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in diameter (regardless of the target’s size) and provides concealment (20% miss chance) to any creature or object wholly contained within.
Valkyrie Stormseeker
Ok im confused.. You typed a darkwood case with a word inside it.. I see now you meant sword inside it.. So the sword is magical yes? What are the iron scraps you speak of? What kind of sword is it? Do you want a spellcraft check?
Thorst Worten
I seem to have forgotten about these scraps but that sounds useful. Is the sword a longsword/greatsword/rapier?
GM Void Dragon
Sorry mistake on my part the scraps refer to the pieces of armor that the mongrelman gave to you. Also yes there was a sword inside of the case. The sword is a magical longsword.
Valkyrie Stormseeker
I had totally forgot about that.. When we slowed down due to people loss I almost forgot what we were doing lol.. Taking 10 on spellcraft gets me a 19.. If thats not high enough for the sword ill roll tm..
Thorst Worten
Found it
Getting out of his chair the chieftain goes behind his throne and comes back with four scared pieces of metal."And before you go please each of you take a piece of this armor from our first ancestor The Fireblade."
"This sword must be connected to the scraps of armour the Chieftain gave us. Perhaps the same armour their ancestor wore. It must have been quite powerful."
Halara
"Nau!" She searched for the man, who's been absent for an eternity now. "I don't think it matters much. Nau's piece, I mean. And just so you know, my piece allows me to protect whoever I desire from harm from electricity or cold sources."
"So this is Yaniel's sword, then..."
Does anyone have K.History?
Valkyrie Stormseeker
Not here.
"Mine will cast levitate and make you harder to hit at the same time.. So anyone wanna use the longsword? I'm no good with them.."
GM Void Dragon
Nau walks forward.
"This isn't the time to speak of such things, but I have lost my own piece of the armor from the mongrelman. I don't know what this could mean but I believe I will stay down here, and clean up that old temple we found. Maybe there I can reflect upon my faith as I work."
