"If you want to wake her up, I'll be happy to question her, but I'm not wasting my healing wand on her." Miranda scoffs at the thought. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see what she's carrying though."

Masym finds grimy arrows on the goblins and only mundane equipment on the woman -- excepting, of course, a hefty sack of gold (265 gp). The team is just about to wake her up when...
Overseer post reposted:
Suddenly, a great flash of blinding light erupts over the city and, for a moment, there is silence. Then another terrible explosion rocks the city. An enormous black dragon can be seen circling above the Grand Lodge, near the ghostly light pillar. He roars and plunges toward the light. The Grand Lodge beckons with urgency!
Deciding to leave these layabouts behind, the Pathfinder crew rushes toward the light. Ahead, a throng of fellow Pathfinders crowd around the gate...
Defying all recent memory, the Grand Lodge’s great steel gates stand closed and fast. Now silent, the façade is heavily scarred with claw marks and acid burns. A long crack divides the arch above the doors, splitting the glyph of the open road. On the ground below, the shattered bodies of half a dozen men and women lie in the dust. Already, other Pathfinders are conferring to find the best way back into their own Second Home.
This is a collaborative encounter, and all tables are working together to overcome the gateway - whether by attempting to pick locks, crash the gate, or whatever method you devise. All participating parties/tables have arrived at the gate simultaneously. The gates are not only locked, but heavily damaged. This damage destroyed part of the locking mechanism. The gates and the shining white walls are both 30 feet tall. Players may also coordinate between tables as well - HERE!
Please decide how you would like to proceed and make any applicable rolls so that I may report to the Overseers!

I do have UMD as a class skill, part of Dark Archive's faction trait Arcane Archivist, but thanks anyway. Reason why I said it would take time is I can't take 10 on it to get to the twenty I need to use it.

Masym eyes the gates closely.
I don't remember them ever being closed before...
He shrugs helplessly. "Not sure how to get in there. Those walls look too slick to climb, at least without magic. Wonder if we could find a ladder somewhere."
Shawn the Fool
|
"Well I'm stumped I usually get around gates by impressing the guards and having the gates opens for me in a glorious hail of trumpets but by using force, never." Shawn concedes.
I hope the tables working together figure out something this is so far out of this characters wheel house

How does working with other tables work in this type of scenario?
Miranda Vaughn
|
"Well, there seems to be three things we can do here. The first thing is to disable the lock, but I do not know how many of you can do that and I certainly can't so we can most likely eliminate that one. The second is to knock it down with our weapons. I'm also quite sure none of our weapons have the type of expensive metal necessary to do an effective job. The last thing would be for everyone to push it, or everyone aid the strongest person in pushing it. Unless we can build a makeshift ram, this seems like the best idea." The mesmerist suggests, then presses her small amount of strength against the gate.
Strength check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
If you aren't sure what to do, I suggest doing a strength check against the gate or aiding someone else who has a higher modifier. It's better to do something than nothing in this situation.
Masym Daleare
|
Masym nods in reply to Miranda. "Yeah, we need to get inside there now. No time to build a ladder or a battering ram here."
He lends his strength against the gate...

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
***************
One group of more mechanically minded pathfinders move to the locking mechanism and start tinkering with it aided by a liberal application of grease, a number of ropes are thrown to the top and people begin clambering up the walls. In another location, another group try brute force and trying to smash their way through. A stone bridge appears out of nowhere, then the flap of wings as a giant roc arrives to pluck people up and drop them on the far side - allowing them to form a defensive perimeter….
Within a minute, the outer gates give way to the small army of ninety highly motivated Pathfinders and their sheer brute force, magic, and mechanical knowledge.
GM take over :)

Defending Skyreach, a valiant group of Pathfinders line the towers and stations along the fortress’s exterior. On the grounds in front, a large black dragon lies in a crumpled heap, its corpse riddled with arrows and leaking acid and ichor.
Their dragon-led assault on Skyreach failed, considerable hostile forces remain and try to regroup. Nearby is a group of injured goblins still capable of mischief!

Assuming Masym kills the yellow goblin
Miranda places her stare on one of the goblins (red) in the back, then advances to cast Color Spray on it and its nearby companion.
-2 Will save and 1 extra damage if hit this round on the red goblin. Red and orange goblins need to make a DC 15 Will save to avoid the effects of Color Spray.

Red: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Orange: 1d20 ⇒ 11
When the pixiedust of exploding color subsides, two goblins can be seen sleeping soundly on the disheveled lawn. The last pair standing fires a volley into the Pathfinder ranks before resuming their retreat-- an arrowhead slashing a thin red line across Masym's cheek.

Miranda Vaughn

GM, I noticed that both the red and orange goblin had the same save against the color spray. Did you take into account Miranda's hypnotic stare on red's Will save (-2)?
Miranda advances forward to get a clear view of the closest active goblin, places her hypnotic stare on it, and tries to daze it with a spell.
Hypnotic Stare on blue goblin: -2 to Will save, +1 additional damage if injured this round. Blue needs to make a DC 16 Will save or be dazed for 1 round.

@ Miranda: I'm just rolling a d20 and not including any modifiers for enemies' saves. Helps to reduce meta-gaming.
Masym hurls his spear into the belly of a retreating goblin, skewering it. Ed bifurcates a poor sleeping goblin as it sleeps on the cobblestones, never to waken.
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Miranda convinces the last goblin to forget everything it was doing!
All that's left is to mop up! :)
Round III -- bold may act!
1. Goblins (red asleep, blue dazed)

@ Masym: unless you've got something special going on, you can't ordinarily take other actions in the middle of a move. You'd only be able to move to and pick up the spear.
Masym Daleare

@GMTrex: Ohhh sorry my bad. Masym does not have any abilities that would allow him to to that. Not a bad idea for a feat to have though...

@GM, no problem, just wanted to make sure her hypnotic stare was being calculated into the saves.
Miranda drops her crossbow, then equips her longspear while moving to the other side of E'li. Once there she attempts to skewer the remaining conscious goblin before her spell wears off.
Longspear: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Damage + Painful Stare bonus: 1d8 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 + 1 = 5
Hypnotic Stare still active on blue goblin. Painful stare extra damage calculated into Miranda's damage roll.

Miranda finishes off the last of the bunch with a decisive strike! The goblin goes to leer at Pharasma with a whimper.
Out of combat!
It's not long after the fighting subsides that a voice calls from the shadows. “Come quickly!” Wedged into one of Skyreach’s darkened doorways is the enigmatic Pathfinder, Osprey. He’s paler than usual, several arrows pierce his skin, and his hands are smeared with blood. “I have little time to speak; however, I must now burden you with a suspicion that is now a reality.” Lowering his voice to a soft hiss he whispers, “The Shadow Lodge is real.”

Does someone have heal or can heal him?
What do you mean by that, a, the Shadow Lodge, Osprey? he says as he examines his wounds.
Masym Daleare

Masym strokes his chin thoughtfully. "I have heard rumors there was a sect of those Pathfinders upset with the ruling Decemvirate. Some even call them traitors to the Society but no evidence was found of their existence." He turns to face Osprey. "How do you know of them?"
Miranda Vaughn

As the group moves forward, Miranda asks either E'li or Shawn to heal her with her wand.
