With Darren and Nijena's renewed efforts, the final wolf falls!

Afer the encounter with the wolves, the rest of the night passes uneventfully. You are able to heal and rest without further threats.

The next day, you can continue your journey through the Fangwood. Early in the day, the trees begin to thin, revealing a field of short, green grass that leads to the shores of a wide, calm lake reflecting the overcast sky above. A dense fog hangs over the center of the lake, obscuring the far side. Near the shore of the lake, a dark form lies next to the water.

The form is actually the decayed body of a man, seeming to be some few months old. His mangled body still bears the signs of some large creature, including fetid blood caused by some natural poisons. While there is no sign of this creature, it left huge bite marks all over the man's upper torso, and its poison made the corpse unsuitable for other scavengers. Much of the man's gear has rotted to worthlessness.

Perception DC 10:
Near the body, you spot a masterwork short sword and a coin pouch with 87 gp inside. The coins look newly minted from the capital city of Tamran; they bear the likeness of Forest Marshal Gavirk, nominal leader of Nirmathas.

Knowledge (local) DC 10:
This man is not from Kassen — his clothing is in poor condition from exposure, but it is obviously of a kind purchased in larger cities.

Survival DC 15:
An old campsite can be found by traveling east along the lakeshore for about half a mile. You ascertain that the camp has not been used in months, though the last to use it was a group probably comprised of a half dozen men.

Once the combat ends and the last remaining wolf is down, Kuran slumps down sitting on the ground, dropping his longsword in the progress. He buries his face in his hands, and appears to be sobbing for just a moment before wiping his face and looking around to see the damages. "Blossym, I'm sorry you had to endure this pain," Kuran announces quietly, knowing she can't hear him. After collecting himself piece by piece Kuran gets back up and starts to clean the wolves off the campsite, and then goes over to Blossym, trying his darnest to patch her up to the best of his abilities given the lack of resources.

Kuran is feeling a little better the next morning, and he travels with much more gusto, though still remaining sulky. Once they reach the shore and find the corpse, Kuran seems distraught and upset, though does inspect the scene. "Maybe one of those sent to retrieve the eternal flame," Kuran sighs, but after a moment's inspection he raises a brow. "But this man... he's not from Kassen, the town we came from. Darren, judging by the weight of that coin bag I'd say he was a merchant, or judging by that sword he was an adventurer, much like us."

Kuran stands up and looks into the fog as if seeing something there. "We should bury the man, regardless of his backgrounds. It would be the only right thing to do now. Though we need to be careful or we'll get the same horrible poison..."

A post to move us along.

You take some time to bury the man through various schemes to prevent the need to touch his wounds. After that, you leave the lake behind you and follow the trail marked on the map.

The trail leads ever deeper into the Fangwood, through a twisting maze of trees and confusing ravines. As it tops a small rise, a broad valley spreads out before it, the opposite side of which looks like a writhing serpent. Yet between the two lies a steep hill sloping down into the valley. A cold rain starts to fall, making the ground slick and treacherous.

Navigating the slope takes at least half an hour, and each of you must make three successful Acrobatics checks to avoid sliding down the slope. You can, if you wish, take it slower if you feel you can spend the time to do so, or you may use some other tactic to make the climb down easier. A failed roll will result in bad stuff.

"Huh, quite a sight. Don't you think so, Kuran?"

Darren will take 10 for 20 if that is allowed. Can he aid the others as they try to come up? Maybe by offering them a rope to hold on to as they go down?

Sovereign Court

You are actually going down, so any aid with a rope would be before you descend.

Hesitantly, Kuran grabs the rope and starts to descent down the hill. He tries to keep a keen eye on anything out to get him, like more wildlife. Kuran uses his prehensile tail in any way he can to "feel" what's below him and move possible tree branches out of his way.

As I said at the get go, it takes three successful acrobatics checks, key word being successful. A failed check means you slip, causing a reflex save. A good save, you dont go anywhere.
