Blossym

"That's a big dagger... pretty though!" the little halfling says with a twinkle in her eye as she ponders the value of the dagger she just passed to Darren.
Nijena Tajar
|
Nijena does as Kuran suggested and activates her smite evil ablity and takes a step closer to Kuran. "Good idea, my friend!"
+2 for smite evil, +2 for flanking with Darren
Longsword: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 = 11
damn :(
GM Sior
|
Nijena moves into a flank, allowing Darren to strike, but both his and Nijena's strikes swing wide!
The shadow strikes back, narrowly missing Nijena! It howls with a hollow rage!
1 Darren, 2 Nijena: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Touch attack!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Strength damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Party up!
Darren the Daring
|
Darren tries to stab the shadow again.
magic dagger, attack, power attack, flanking: 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 1 + 2 = 9 for slashing: 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
dice roller, why do you hate uuuuuuussss???

Feeling desperate, Kuran begins to recite a prayer, blessing each and everyone in the room.
"Māku mājī puruṣulu nīḍalu vijayaṁ man̄jūru."
Bless for everyone, +1 morale to attack and saves vs. fear.
Tessa Firdorn
|
Tessa's aim improves as she fires a ray of ice right at the shadowy apparition.
Ray of Frost: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
DC 13 Fort Save or slowed as per the slow spell for 1 round for rime blooded.
GM Sior

Darren stabs at the shadow with no luck. You swear you can hear Desna herself weeping for you.
Then Kuran starts a prayer of blessing for everyone's efforts, encouraging the party to go forward!
As a result, Tessa's spell finally makes contact. It is clear the shadow is impervious to the slowing effects of the cold, but some of the damage one would expect does indeed go through!
Blossym and Nijena!
Darren the Daring
|
you can use aid another on attack (or AC)
-Posted with Wayfinder
Darren the Daring
|
can you fight defensively to aid another? I need every bit I can get! If you big succeed on an aid that would be an extra +6 for me to hit after flanking
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Sior
|
Yes, because the aid roll is specifically stated as an attack roll.
Nijena and Blossym stand guard offering their support!
The shadow turns on Nijena and swipes a claw at her! As it does so, she feels her strength being pulled away with it, sustenance to feed the angry shadow!
1 Darren, 2 Nijena: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Strength damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Party up!
Kuran Abrath
|
That shouldn't hit Nijena, since she initiated full defense. However, as she did so, she would NOT be flanking as she can't make attacks of opportunity, ergo threaten enemies.
Kuran moves over to the shadow, and with a shaking hand waves his longsword at the incorporeal creature.
Aid Darren's attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 - 3 = 18 Success, +2 to Darren's attack
GM Sior
|
Ah, you are correct. Good catch. Apologies.
Nijena is not drained of her strength, after all!
Kuran moves back in to distract the shadow as Tessa fires a bolt of magic in. Even though it splashes all across the shadow's face, it does not seem to affect it fully!
Blossym, Nijena, Darren!
Darren the Daring
|
Darren strikes at the shadow with the magic dagger.
Magic dagger, power attack, flanking, two aids: 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10 for damage: 1d4 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 + 2 = 7
woooooooooooooooooooow.
does anyone have a reroll? This is ridiculous...

Why, dice roller?! WHY?!
With everyone trying to help Darren, the commotion in the room increases, stirring the smoke.
The shadow focuses again on Nijena, but its attack cannot connect, even with her no longer assisting defensively.
1 Darren, 2 Kuran, 3 Nijena: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Strength Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Party up! Roll those assists! (Also, Blossym, to aid you must threaten the monster.)
GM Sior
|
That's steppin' into wall, Tessa. Sorry, the smoke makes it a little difficult to tell.
Tessa fires another bolt into the shadow, vaporizing just the merest part of it. It seems to be about half strength from when you first met it.
Kuran swings his arms around and howls in the haze distracting the shadow!
Nijena, Blossym, and Darren up!
Darren the Daring
|
around, waiting to see if the other aids are forthcoming or not
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Sior

Nijena adds to the distractions to aid Darren's strike!
Blossym to act and Darren to strike
Kuran Abrath
|
Darren, roll. If it comes to Blossym's aid whether you succeed or not, then it happens. We're dragging on a combat that's basically nothing but others aiding one to attack.
Darren the Daring
|
Darren tries again to slash at the shadow with the dagger.
dagger, attack, flanking, power attack, 2 aids: 1d20 + 4 + 2 - 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 - 1 + 2 + 2 = 12 for magic, slashing: 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
SMH.
Kuran Abrath
|
I doubt an aid will help, so we could continue straight to the next round. Trying to speed up this monotonous fight.
"Darren! What are you doing?! Have you never held a dagger in your hands before?!" Kuran shrieks, panicking, "we're going to die unless you start pointing that blade towards the shadow! Or give it to Nijena! She's an angel, after all!"
Aid whoever has the dagger: 1d20 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 3 = 6 Fail
GM Sior
|
Since the shadow gets a turn, too, hahah. And yes, another aid would not have helped it hit, sadly.
After Darren's strike, the shadow again tries to feed off of Kuran! Even the slightest touch racks the tiefling with pain as his strength is sapped!
1 Darren, 2 Kuran, 3 Nijena: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Strength damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Darren the Daring
|
"Can't you see I'm trying!" Darren tries again to stab the shadow. dagger, flanking, power attack (please add aids as they are rolled): 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 - 1 + 2 = 15 for magic, slashing: 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8
what is that??? A halfway decent roll? I forgot what those looked like...

GM Sior

Tessa, Nijena, and Blossym to go to see if that hit the shadow ;-)
Kuran Abrath
|
Kuran starts to feel very weak (strength penalty at 10 now), but is still able to carry all his equipment. The instant he has a chance he retreats out of the shadow's reach. Far from its reach, possibly to the room they came from.
GM Sior
|
After the magic dagger and the ice ball hit the shadow, it howls in suffering and sinks into the fire and the ground beneath it. As the moments pass, you realize it is gone and is not coming back.
Out of combat! Finally! =)
The smoke in the room is really getting thick, but you do notice a key laying in the ashes on the edge of the brazier. Thinking it prudent, you grab it and everyone makes their way out of the room.
From here, your options are the locked door with screaming/wailing and the other door from the large entry chamber.
Kuran Abrath

"I'm really beat," Kuran says, exhausted, "I'm unsure I can keep going, this place, it's just what I feared! A death trap, designed to lure foolish adventurers to their dooms! What devil has made the townsmen to seek for eternal fire here?! What abomination keeps bringing these dangers back here?"
Kuran keeps on rambling, but on a lower tone, subsiding to mumbling. "Can we go outside to get some air?" he asks sheepishly, after a while of mumbling.
Kuran is at strength 4, but thankfully the ability damage doesn't affect carrying capacity. He's practically useless in a fight until he gets most of his strength back.

"I don't know about that. Wouldn't we be safer outside?"
-Posted with Wayfinder
Kuran Abrath
|
"Outside, definitely!" Kuran cries and almost runs outside, a little further off the entrance and the creepy bloody bodies, "and while we are at it, someone could go on and hunt for food, save the rations for more desperate times... Althought this is quite desperate already..."
Kuran is shaking with fear, and he'd much rather just flee the scene and abandon the mission, but his deity wouldn't allow such cowardice.
GM Sior

Kuran bravely runs away away and sets up camp before anyone can raise a rebuttal.
Just resting 8 hours to regain daily powers?

You can always drag some of those pillows out and make a fort. They're big enough!
Also, ability damage heals at 1pt/day. It will take over a week to fully heal. That said, I will reveal that there are two places (relatively close places) where some ability healing can be done. But more on that I will not say.
