"Thank you, I didn't expect that... Though I'm not sure if I wanted to be torn away from the stars so soon..." Jaender says, wistfully, as his wounds begin to heal.
Lay on Hands brought me to 2 so...
CLW potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Which brings me to 11/14. I will wait to make sure everyone else is full up before I drink one for only 3hp...
"We could definitely use some of these..." Jaender says as he surveys the spoils of this nearly fateful battle.
Jaender grabs another alchemist fire and acid flask and the thunderstone.
"I'm a little gunshy now about getting so close to the battle... perhaps these bottles of lightning would be better off in someone else's hands..."

![]() |

Ok so I am stable at -6hp, but still unconscious. Can we do this? obviously we need to down all these potions, so when you drink one mark a tally off. So far Jaender and Brute have drank, so the next one to drink a potion drinks, rolls, and leaves off at 3/6 remaining.

![]() |

Possibly just now processing that Ophiuchus is fallen, the brute takes another potion and carefully pours it into the nagaji's mouth.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

![]() |

Is there need to count rounds, since both are stabilized?
Following Strong Brute's example, Roudantaimi gently pours a couple of healing potions in Ophiuchus' mouth. Since the nagaji looks slightly beaten, the gnome reinforces the healing effect with a couple of charge from his wand.
CLW potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
25 hp healed if I counted correctly. used 2 potions, 3 charges. Leaving 1 potion, if anyone wants to keep it.

![]() |

Yes, we're out of rounds now. Thank you.
Ophiuchus: 21/23hp
Strong Brute: 20/32hp
Jaender: 11/14hp
Arturo: 16/23hp
Roudantaimi: 33/33hp
Vox: 21/21hp
Einhardt: 7/19hp
Please correct me if I am wrong, and let me know how you are getting all healed up. I've got the wand usage up to date from the current posts.

![]() |

Jaender is at 11, he took one more from trying to stabilize and failing. I've got it in the post at the top of this page, but he drank a potion. Looks like I am ignoring poor Poochie, but I think everyone assumed everyone else was going to dump the potion down his throat... :) Should definitely hit Strong brute, Arturo and Einhardt with the wands to top them off... These rooms have been hairy, no sense in going in half dead... What do we need to do to finish splitting up the gear we have found? Jaender was grabby, but a concise list might be useful... Perhaps using strikethrough to denote when something is used, so we can kinda remember what we have had and used as we go?

Thanks, Jaender, got it corrected. I would also recommend getting you healed up as well. As for the loot, I created a Thornkeep loots spreadsheet -- I will give access to you when you request it! Or if you send me your email adress.

![]() |

I was like, "when did I take 18 hp damage?"... then I realized you gave me 11 extra base HP with a typo! Arturo is 16/23.
"Let's just save the last one of those potions, shall we?" suggests Arturo, "But for next time, perhaps don't stand next to the table that your rogue has told you to avoid! Sorry Jaender, didn't realize those potions would splash about so much... clearly." Arturo points to his own singed cloak.
If there are no objections, I'll do the "heal up round up" again. Alphabetical order.
CLW wand #1: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 -- Arturo -4
CLW wand #2: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 -- Arturo -1... will leave him at this. Anyone got heal skill for a treat deadly wounds?
CLW wand #3: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 -- Einhardt -2
CLW wand #4: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 -- Einhardt full.
CLW wand #5: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 -- Jaender full
CLW wand #6: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 -- Ophiuchus full
CLW wand #7: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 -- Strong Brute -3
CLW wand #8: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 -- Strong Brute -1... treat deadly wounds from here?
8 more charges! Woah. Going to need some new wands after this!
"If you don't mind, I'll take some more of this alchemist's fire! It really seems to do the trick under the right circumstances," says Arturo, "And some more acid... ooh, and that bottled lighting sounds like great fun!"
Arturo picks up three more flasks of alchemist's fire, a flask of acid and the lightning in a bottle, putting them onto accessible belt loops where he can.
Updated the spreadsheet as best I can. Arturo is taking all the shiny things, because as the goblins say, "magic leads to pants!"

![]() |

Treat deadly wounds requires 2 charges from a healing kit - with a penalty of -2 per missing charge. I don't recall if any of you have one of these.
Charges updated.

The brute, perhaps in a bit of a funk over being burned/scoured/electrocuted, just glares at Arturo as he hands out his admonishment. His new-found freedom creating a sort of grudge against being told what to do, he nevertheless maintains his silence. Although for someone who ended up playing giggle-pokes with the goblin lasses and often ended up with his pants around his ankles, the rogue surely seemed quite able to hand out sound advice to others.
He gathers up his scythe, ready to proceed once his companions get set.
:p

![]() |

Shaking the cobwebs from his head, Ophiuchus sits up and takes stock of his surroundings.
"No Merian. I knew it was too good to be true." Grabbing Strong Brute's offered hand, Ophiuchus pulls himself to his feet.
"Am I the only one that died?" He searches the room frantically for signs of Einhardt. Relieved that the wolf is okay, Ophiuchus doesn't hear his friends relating the story of the table and Jaender to him.
Turning to Vox, "It looks as if this was my time to die. Luckily for me you were all here to save me. What is that horrible smell? Did someone have an accident in their pants? Did Mr. Hairylip meet another strange monster he wants to woe? It reminds me of that strange dead, but was living monster that was eating it self. No matter, best we find out who is making all the goblins try to kill us. I have to say I am very confused about which goblins want to sleep with us, and what goblins want to kill us. Come pretty wolf, and cool lizard that sleeps upside down. Let us continue when the others are ready." The nagaji remains oblivious that the smell is his still smoldering flesh.
Turning to Strong Brute, "Do you think my tabard is ready? Maybe Mr. Trask will be back and can pick it up for me."
Turning to Jaender, "Can you use your magic to send Mr. Trask a message? I want it to say:"
'Poochie needs his duck tabard from the tailor.'

![]() |

The brute gives Ophiuchus a hapless look, shrugging his shoulders as he says, "Surely it must be ready soon. You are paying a small fortune for it."
The man turns to Jaender, curious as to how he will get a message to the irascible Hamilton Trask while they are deep in this dungeon.

![]() |

"Hey gus, let's try this way! I'm keen to see if this thing meets back up with where we came in. I don't want to get too far into the bowels of a dungeon without checking what's behind us first!" Arturo says all this cheerily enough, but prepares to move on in any case. As per usual, he checks the door for traps and makes sure it is open before allowing the tough guys to come through.
Disable device: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
"At least those goblins weren't mutated like the last lot!" Arturo says casually, "But looks like they still had plenty of tricks up their sleeves. I say we avoid any tables altogether in the next room."

![]() |

"Am I the only one that died?" He searches the room frantically for signs of Einhardt. Relieved that the wolf is okay, Ophiuchus doesn't hear his friends relating the story of the table and Jaender to him.
Turning to Vox, "It looks as if this was my time to die. Luckily for me you were all here to save me. What is that horrible smell? Did someone h..."[/i]
"You just got unlucky, that's all," says Vox, noticing Einhardt walking up to the nagaji and brushing herself against his leg. "It was wasn't your turn, it was just the luck of the draw. And, we won't let anything happen to you."
"Don't lose heart, Ophiuchus. Think of the majestic duck... no matter what happens, a duck keeps flapping."
A moment later, turning to Aurto, "Lead the way, my friend."

![]() |

"Not dead, friend Poochie. Your soul is very much tied to the mortal coil. Not even knocking the door of of.. wherever your immortal remains travel when your body has given up. I don't think we have ever actually talked of faith, friend. Is there a god you pray to, you talk to? I know I haven't taught you the secrets of talking to ducks, like I promised. (It's just this busy adventuring life...) But if you'd like, I could teach you to talk to the goddess of beauty! So many ways to talk, so little time to learn them all..."
Roudantaimi is happy to the Nagano is back on his feet. Not that he was worried... While Ophicius was badly maimed, then burned and electrocuted, and just smoke raising from his charred corpse, the gnome still had the firm belief that everything will turn out just fine.
Then, his attention is diverted to Arturo, opening the door. "You lead, we follow," the gnome says, and moves into formation.

After Arturo ascertains that there are no traps, the party lines themselves up, and gets everybody ready.
The Strong Brute, again out front, opens the simple wooden door.
This grand chamber appears to be some sort of observation laboratory. The northern section is raised, and contains rotten benches for watching the experiments below. The southern half of the chamber is dominated by a dais on which is set a heavily stained table. It appears that something has dug through the walls of this room, creating two tunnels out of the chamber. Staircases to the northwest and northeast lead out of the viewing area, and wooden doors flank the southwest and southeast sides of the dais. Large stone doors stand south of the dais.

Ophiuchus: Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Einhardt: Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
The Strong Brute thinks he may have seen some movement underneath the stone table at the top of the dais.

![]() |

The large man's brow furrows as he sees the slight movement, but he hears nothing from his companions. He almost thinks to shake his head, thinking he is seeing phantoms where none exist. Better safe than sorry, though. He holds his hand up to halt the others, offering over his shoulder, "Be wary...this one saw movement under that table."

![]() |

"Whatever is there, come out of there or..." Arturo begins to shout as he draws a flask of alchemist's fire from his belt pouch. Then he reconsiders.
"Poď von, alebo budeme hromadia plamene na vás, takže budete vidieť hroby svojich matiek, a je podobný ako psy s mačkami, ak budete milovanie s bohyňa vojny*," Arturo says in the likely native tongue of whatever is moving there... assuming it is sentient!
Arturo makes ready to throw his bomb at the first sign of aggression, his scimitar gripped firmly in his other hand.
ie. not willing to parley if it is a monster / animal or if it screams at us, charges, moves to attack, etc. You get it, right?
Arturo flings the flask at the aggressive creature. In this place, if something doesn't say it's friendly right off the bat it's better to burn first and ask questions later!

So far, the party hasn't seen any additional activity while they wait at the door. Every one could take a single move action.
FYI - no readied actions until initiative/combat has started.

![]() |

Looking at the table with trepidation, the brute moves into the room, hugging the southern wall, thinking that his companions should likely spread out, in case of another surprise.
Move me to directly south of the table, please.

![]() |

We'll continue as soon as at least 2/3 of the characters have taken their move action -- or chosen not to

![]() |

FYI - no readied actions until initiative/combat has started.
Can't we start initiative rounds whenever we like? ie. Initiate combat with the room? I know it's not exactly fighting against a creature, but it seems silly if we can't prepare a shot / action just because something hasn't attacked us yet.
Of course, if initiative rolls are less than 1 round away, the above doesn't matter.
In any case Arturo draws a flask of alchemist's fire and makes ready to throw it, whether the actual throw happens as a readied action or my next attack action.

![]() |

Jaender moves into the room, ready for something to jump out from underneath the table. He takes a deep breath, ready to breath fire at a moments notice if necessary.

![]() |

Roudantaimi directs his mount to keep still, until his comrades have verified what is inside. He would hate to end up face to face with the enemy, where his firearm is nothing but trouble.

![]() |

Ophiuchus, moves into the room and then north along the east wall, drawing his flail.
I should be 2 squares north of Jaender, loockwood needed

Lockwooded. Ok, 2/3 have chimed in... but I will wait until 1400 CDT to start the fun.

After collecting his weapons, Vox heads to the mouth of the room, but remains just inside the hallway. Just behind the youth, Einhardt stands ready to enter the room and attack.
move to the end of the hallway, just before entering the room. Einhardt be just behind Vox *tokens not yet moved*

![]() |

Suddenly, a flurry of motion breaks out in the room, as a very odd looking goblin is seen, for a moment, before he attacks, then disappears. This twisted and warped goblin has three crystal vials protruding from his head (image shown on the map, for clarity)
Everyone except the Strong Brute are surprised by the sudden rush of movement (no one else spotted the hiding goblin)!

The big Ulfen(?) takes an amazing hit, and then the little mutant moves back, getting some cover from the stone table. There is a little "glug" as some of the red liquid seems to disappear.
Strong Guy is up, has a partial action only. He has also noticed a very large rat in front of the door, as he moved in.

Enraged at the situation as the little bastard springs out and wollops him, the brute swings powerful with his scythe, trying to angle his strike around the table. He maintains his position, hoping his friends come to his aid before the thing attacks him again.

Arturo moves into position against Snarltongue, bending low to get a good angle at him from under the table and waits for someone to distract him before attempting to strike (hopefully Einhardt!).
Einhardt has enough movement, but she'll provoke at least one AoO depending upon her route. Up to you, Chris!.

Vox runs into the room and sees the small wayang mysteriously put one of the rats to sleep. As the youth ends his movement, he know the rats which is still awake is too close to strike effectively with his lucerne hammer, and so he waits for a moment. Stepping a bit back from the rats and the creature with the cylinders sticking awkwardly from its head, the youth grips his hammer tighter and prepares himself the attacks which are to come.

Move Action: 5-foot step to avoid AoO
Can you do a regular move action, and then another move action to 5-foot step? It seems like it should be OK per the rules, but I don't think I've ever tried to do it before... like never ever...

![]() |

Anything more than a five foot step in a turn is a move. Including moving only five feet. You nan not take the "five foot step" if you have moved. On my iPad, so will find reference tomorrow, unless cyrused.

Specifically: "you can't take a 5-foot step in the same round that you move any distance"
Also, Vox, don't forget about Einhardt! If she can't move, don't suppose you'd be able to move into flank to help with the readied actions and all? Strong Brute perhaps? Anyone? Fie to the AoOs!
"Can someone help me flank this thing?! Einhardt? Like we practiced?" calls a desperate Arturo from in front of the slavering, tube-headed goblin maniac.

Sweet! Thanks everyone. That makes sense now!

I moved Vox back to stand next to Arturo. He still has a move action left.
Vox could choose to tumble (to the orange star).

If you are attacking, just let me know. Otherwise, I'll lockwood you to the star, and Arturo can get his readied action.
Since no command was given, Einhardt will be guarding Vox.

![]() |

I'll post Vox acrobatics check once I'm out of my meeting, around 12:30.
quick question though, I was confused by the Einhardt guarding post above. I thought Einhardt's action would take place after snarl tongue based on the initiative order, so does Vox need to define her action now?

![]() |

Vox needs to give her command on his action... because even though it is a free action, that is then only time you can do it. If you are doing the acrobatic... check the spoiler. Already done.

Vox rolls past the goblin and the rat, but seemed to have been more concerned about the wierd goblin, and leaves himself open for attack fro the rat. Luckily, the rodent misses. As he gets into position, Arturo takes a slash at the goblin, opening a large wound on its side.
As the party watches, the green liquid chorgles, and some of the goblin's wounds heal. The red liquid also seems to go down, as the goblin continues frothing at the mouth, and swings mightily at the human barbarian.
