Godwin Solace |

Thanks much for the offer GM :).
For the entrance we can use it one at a time right? Maybe Drakra can scout and if it's safe the rest of us can come in and we can lower ropes for the rangers to climb up?

Godwin Solace |

Alternatively Godwin does have a potion of invisibility. What do you guys think about him chugging a potion and then peeking out?

Vardan Argider |

An invisible scout isn't ever a bad idea...
Vardan and Thorne could follow -- not so sneaky, but quick and able to fight his way in.
Also, congratulations on taking the plunge and running a game. Been debating it myself for a while -- I'm curious how more experienced players would handle the campaign my players finished last year.

Godwin Solace |

I'm going ahead, wish me luck!

Vardan Argider |

Wow, nice rolls Godwin.

Godwin Solace |

Happy holidays everyone!

Vardan Argider |

Indeed! All the best of the season to you and your families!

Godwin Solace |

Paizo does tend to eat posts at the worst times! Hope you had a good time off away from the digital world.
How big is the room behind the closet? I think the best approach might be that Drakra comes back out and lets us know what's going on. Godwin goes up and attaches ropes so that the rangers can climb up and then he goes in with some protection spells on and tries to tank while everybody else comes in one by one.

Godwin Solace |

Happy New Year everyone!

Godwin Solace |

Is my plan from the 28th ok with everyone?

Vardan Argider |

Works for me.

Godwin Solace |

Are there any rolls I need to make to accomplish the following GM?
1. Switch place with Drakra in the closet.
2. Attach a rope so the rangers can climb in.
3. Cast Align Weapon on Vardan's weapon with the scale of weapon aligment so it's good aligned.
4. Cast Shield of Faith on myself
5. In surprise round move in to the closest fly and attack with Radiance.
Then hopefully the rest of the group will trickle in.

Godwin Solace |

I was hoping Thorne would be levitating with Vardan mounted on him. Is that not possible? :) If not than should we change our plan Vadran?
As for stealth checks. I'll do the spell casting while levitating outside (so do 3 and 4 before 1 and 2). And here's my stealth check for doing the swap.
Stealth Here goes nothing: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Vardan Argider |

I was also hoping for levitating wolves. Without that, we may have rethought our strategy.

Godwin Solace |

I'm a bit confused GM. I thought three of us were levitating. Not just one? Is that not the case?

Godwin Solace |

Maybe we could retcon to just open the main door and charge in? Seems simpler?

Vardan Argider |

That seems wiser -- Chime of Opening to the main door.

GM Shathira |

You can use the scale one at a time, so one person using the scale and one person as a passenger. The room only has space for one person at a time to get off. Presently invisible Drakra. Even if you had three people at once, only one would be able to get off and go into the room. The scale creates a 5' pillar which raises and lowers. Essentially, Godwin is carrying whomever is going to go into the room.
as stated earlier in this thread:
The levitate scale creates a pillar of rolling clouds 5' in diameter, so it would be good to lift one character.
Cloudwalking: Three times per day as a standard action,
a scale can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds
rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and
shrinking with the target's altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in
diameter (regardless of the target's size) and provides
concealment (2 00/o miss chance) to any creature or object
wholly contained within.
You don't need to retcon, you simply need to get Drakra down. ;)

Godwin Solace |

Ah... I thought we could jsut cast it on whomever. Okay. Let's say
1. Godwin carried Drakra up.
2. Then carried Drakra down.
3. Went back up
4. Cast his spells outside the window.
5. Climbed in
6. Dismissed the cloudwalking and dropped the scale to Vardan
7. Tied the rope from his warpriest's kit to the closet door to allow the rangers to climb in.
8. Bravely goes forth to challenge the fly things while everybody else makes their way up.
And his stealth roll was a 12.
Phew. Can Godwin step out of the closet with Vadran having the scale and the rope attached and his Shield of Faith up?
Sorry for the complication!

GM Shathira |

All of that is good, except for a few things. The rope would shut the door as soon as one of the rangers started to climb the rope, depending on how you tied it. Given that the door is shut, currently, and Godwin is not invisible, you would wind up with:
1) Godwin going into the room before the rangers start their climb (and possibly shutting the door behind him)
2) Godwin waiting while Rangers, Vardan (sans Thorne), Drakra, and somehow Fomiel all hang from ropes (which again could be holding the door shut, depending on how you intend to tie a rope to a shut door) and/or stand on a 5' floating disk outside a window for Godwin to leave the room (if Godwin can open a door being held shut by the weight of 3-4 people), after which only one of them would be able to enter the room (provided THEY could open the door being held shut by the weight of one less person ;) ).
There is still only room for one person at a time in the closet
I would need to know how you intend to tie the rope to the door, with the door closed. Or, you could open the door.... >:)

Godwin Solace |

Sorry, Monday was busy for me.
Ok.
1. Godwin carried Drakra up.
2. Then carried Drakra down.
3. Went back up
4. Cast his spells outside the window.
5. Climbed in
6. Dismissed the cloudwalking and dropped the scale to Vardan. Idea being that Vardan and Thorne come up and then drop the scale to Fomiel so he can cloudwalk up as well. Then Fomiel finally ties the rope to the closet door so everyone else can climb in.
8. Meanwhile Godwin bravely goes forth to challenge the fly things while everybody else makes their way up and trickel in.
This way the door won't get shut until all the more marital PCs get inside and the rangers and Drakra can take their time making their way up using the cloudwalking scale one at a time.
Also Godwin will burn up more CLW charges between 2 and 3 to get to full health cause he probably will need it!
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Godwin Solace |

Glad you're feeling better.

Godwin Solace |

I think we're waiting for Fomiel? It's been a while.

Vardan Argider |

Think so..

GM Shathira |

Don't wait. If you know what action you'll take, regardless of the order, fire away. If something happens between, I'll either adjust if it makes sense; hits orc2 instead of orc1, or I'll ask for another action. At this point I'm going to start instilling a one day wait. If your action comes up, I'll wait one day and if nothing is posted, we'll move on.

Drakra Worpltng |

Not sure where the eagle was summoned, or if Fomiel could see behind the flies, but the range on summon monster is short, which would be 35' at this level. If he can see past the flies, then he could have summoned the eagle above or behind the flies.

Godwin Solace |

Hi GM, you have Godwin as having 37 hp. My calculations are he has 35. Can you let me know which one of us is right? Hopefull you!

Vardan Argider |

The wolf and halfling will be stepping into the room momentarily..

Godwin Solace |

Ooooh.. I was doing 5,5,5 for three levels instead of 6,6,6. That explains it! I also put FCB as HP all four levels and have 8 skill ranks total (2 per level HAH).
Soo... it should be 38 HP ( 8 (first level die) + 6x3 (3 level up die) + 2x4 (con) + 1x4 (class bonus)). I don't think I used more than 8 skill ranks in my sheet.

Godwin Solace |

With the threat gone I think getting into the hallway is just a lot of switching places and the like? Is there anything else we should be doing GM?

Godwin Solace |

Anything else we're doing? Wendaug took her turn.

Godwin Solace |

It seems like we need a lot of crowd control for this one. GlitterDust or Grease or something. I imagine a loot of these are mooks that will go down easy but there's the heavy hitters in the back.
I'm not sure about how the map is set up so I can't really tell how Godwin can move.

Vardan Argider |

Agreed. Some alchemical powder bombs would be super handy... Or a necklace of fireballs...

Godwin Solace |

Alright finally got a decent phone which means I can actually see maps now!
It's a bit of a rough setup this.
Drakra is best placed to really give those guys a bad day with Bard control spells.
How about
1. Godwin Vardan move outside on their initiatives fighting defensivlely
2. Drake comes out with the cover that the others are providing and Grease or GlitterDust the heck out of those guys.
3. Rangers delay.

Godwin Solace |

I think what worries me is that there's all these other forces sacrificing themselves to act as our distraction so I kinda figured it was do or die....
But yeah Running away.. uuh... retreating is always an option. I think it's obvious we're going to be walking into a meat grinder.
So, do we run away? I'm good with it even if Godwin isn't.

Vardan Argider |

Ideally, we'd do a little more damage before leaving -- wonder if we could draw some of them in to us, rather than riding headlong into their set defensive position...

Godwin Solace |

Open to ideas. Drakra's the only person with those kinds of tricks I think.

Vardan Argider |

Wonder if we could use an illusion (or ghost sound) to lure them to us? Or maybe have Fomiel summon something to get them to waste their ambush set-up.

Godwin Solace |

Well, it doesn't seem like they're interested in coming out of their defensive position so I don't know how Drakra could bring them over.
I don't see how anything Fomiel summons wouldn't get shot up by crossbow bolts and alchemist bombs.
We've taken out their main guards and that was a pretty tough fight in and of itself. I'd love to do one more attack but the only way I can think of doing it is an invisible Fomiel doing a Magic Missile and then running.
Even that would mean,
Round 1. Godwin gives Invisibility potion to Fomiel
Round 1. Fomiel moves out
Round 2. Fomiel does magic missile and moves back in to avoid getting shot up.
We might be able to get them to come out to us with that tactic (since they wouldn't know that we only have the one invisibility potion left) and maybe we'll be able to bottleneck them in our own door and take some more out with ranger readied actions to shoot anything that comes to us but we'll need to be very careful to not get overwhelmed. Maybe Drakra can lay some Grease in front of our door or Glitter dust them to cause them some more problems as they try to attack.
That's the only thing I can think of though.
The only other fancy thing I could think of is
Round 1. Godwin gives Invisibilty potion to Fomiel and readies action to yank Fomiel back in as soon as Fomiel does magic missile
Round 1. Fomiel moves out invisible, does magic missile, gets yanked back by Godwin.
That way we don't have one round of whatever the heck they're planning to do.
What's everyone else think?
