Amarantha remembers reading an ancient tome at one time or another that talked about the long-forgotten Shory practice of separating and materializing a fragment of knowledge via intense magical focus into a semi-living physical incarnation of lore known as a cenovath, or “crawling thought.”
If the bugs in the jars are eaten they impart knowledge on the ingestor at a price of some physical damage. This can be done mutiple times, but the first time the bonus is said to become permanant..
Khufu detects evil on the strong aura, but not the rest of the jars..

According to ancient texts if the bugs in the jars are eaten they impart knowledge on the ingestor at a price of some physical damage. This can be done multiple times... But the first time is said to become permanent..
GM Pox
Oh comon! It's only a centipede the size of a softball that's been in a stinky milky substance for 3k years.. I honestly can't imagine why the writers of this would have thought the PC's would ever do that.. And its like a two page long description lol..
Khufukhaf
"If anyone does decide to munch on a supper of mind bugs, I would avoid that jar ..... it gives me the heeebies." pointing to the jar with the strong evil aura.
Amarantha Van der Griest
I would consider it, but bugs give me gas
Arduino the Lesser
Recovering, Arduino staggers over. "Well..."
He hesitates. "...can you be... specific? I mean, if this is knowledge we might need to take down the pharaoh..."
He pauses. "Not me, though!" He points at Kin. "I've seen her eat some pretty rotten stuff with far too much delight. If... if this is what we need? And it won't hurt her forever..?"
Hadjii
"Insects can be quite a delicacy! I wish there was a way to determine what knowledge can be gained..."
Hadjii-elemental will start examining the jars up close, looking for clues about the bugs within...it is clear he fully intends to partake...
GM Pox
They are sealed clay jars.. One would have to open one to see it's contents.. Amarantha is just pretty certain that's whats in there..
Hadjii
Hadjii will take the jar closest to the door, carry it into the middle of the big room to the north, and quickly open the jar, dump out a few bugs, and seal the jar shut again. Then he'll eat one. Seeing his master eat one, Jack (following closely behind, of course!) snaps one up as well...
Arduino the Lesser
Arduino resumes dry-retching, as Kin looks on with curiosity.
GM Pox
There is but one bug per jar, so you must crack two if Jack is to eat one..
Hadjii downs the nasty ass bug, which is twitching slightly as you eat it, and recieves some scratches in his throat as it goes down.. Assuming he opens two jars Jack gets scratched up as well..
You both take minor damage that I'm not even going to roll..
Hadjii experiences a rush of knowledge likes he's never felt before. It's almost drug like..
Randomness: 1d100 ⇒ 7
Hadjii gains proficiency in any weapon of his choice and in addition recieves a +1 insight bonus to attacks and damage with it.. Effects are permanant.
Jack: 1d100 ⇒ 82
Jack recieves a +2 insight bonus on all saving throws vs creatures, traps, objects etc. pertaining to the Slave Trenches and Hakotep.. He also recieves the same bonus on any skills associated with these things..
Hadjii
"Does anyone happen to have a whip? Suddenly I believe I know how to use one..."
Jack just grins and pants a little.
"I must say, it is quite a head rush you know...I can actually recommend it!"
GM Pox
Anyone else partaking? If not we can move on.. That is unless you wanna mess with the evil jar..
GM Pox
Assuming Ard uses a dimension door to get you all out..
Reappearing in the Slave Trenches is very apparent you all have reactivated the Sekrespheres correctly as they all spark with electricity..
The Genie would have been kind enough to tell yall that you have but a 24 hour period to use the Sun Disk or the Sekresphere's will have to be activated again..
1 mythic point spent via Recuperation would get you all back set again though..
Arduino the Lesser
Doesn't recuperation not restore our mythics? If we've a neat 24 hours, I suggest we use them.
The jars not providing any particular knowledge, and wary of their auras of evil and necromancy, Arduino declines to partake of them.
GM Pox
It restores all limited use abilties, spells, smites etc.. But does not restore mythic power or mythic abilities limited to a number of uses per day.. It is still very handy for a 1 hour rest..
Hemket
Since we have 24 hours, and people need only sleep 8 hours, it seems we can do that. We find a safe enough place and rack out so people can get spells and such back, then head out before the 24 hour deadline.
Hadjii
yeah -- what he said
GM Pox
Ok yall find a decent place to sleep and a few hours later are ready to proceed, refreshed..
We have an outage kicking off this week so my post rate will be slowed for the next few weeks.. I will still be able to do once or twice a day, just giving yall a heads up. It will be this afternoon before I can start the next dungeon level..
Amarantha Van der Griest
Feeling refreshed Ama casts Heroes Feast in the morning
Temp HP: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
She also hits the group with Life Bubble 4 hours for everyone including that big ass bird
GM Pox
After preparations are done, casting any long last spells etc., the part heads to the Guardian Vault to seek out the Pharaoh's Key to activate the Sun disk..
Feel free to retcon any spells cast..
Upon arrival you find a large set of double doors at the entrance.. They are not trapped, nor locked.. It's almost like everyone else in the Trenches just knew to stay the hell out of here.
I'll get a map up in the morning.. Feel free to enter though.
Khufukhaf
"'Do you want to get hit in the face?' is what you're really asking" Khufu answers.
"And yeah, in service to my lord Anubis I'll take a smack in the face."
Khufu advances and tries the door.
Hadjii
as usual, Hadjii will start off the day casting Stoneskin on himself and his wolf friend -- using Enduring Blessing to give 24 hours duration.
upon arrival at this door, Hadjii will cast Communal Spider Climb on Aramantha, Arduino, Khufukhaf, Hemket, and Jack.
"Jack and I will be right here in back -- no smacking going on back here, I hope!"
GM Pox
As Khufu moves to open the door everyone give perception checks..
New map up as well.. Haven't had a chance to fully mark it up though..
GM Pox
Hadjii: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (17) + 27 = 44 SInce he's the only one with a chance..
Hadjii see's the mound of bones, but also notices what appears to be some very large hiding amongst them.. As it is noticed it rising from the sand to attack!
It appears to be a gargantuan mummy spinosaurus!
Know Nature and Religion
Hadjii may have an action in the surprise round.
Amarantha: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Khufu: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Arduino: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Hadjii: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Hemket: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Hadjii goes before it in the surprise round..
Also Khufu, Ard, Kin, and Amarantha need saves vs Frightful Prescence.. Will save DC 24
Amarantha Van der Griest
Religion: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38 Surge: 1d8 ⇒ 3
1. The order of their saves in order from highest to lowest. (e.g. Fort - Will - Ref)
2. Elemental resistances and immunities
3. Special attacks
4. Special defenses
5. Do they have combat reflexes or any other ability that will let them make attacks of opportunity on me even though I beat their initiative.
GM Pox
Khufu gets nothing..
Amarantha knows:
Fort, Reflex, Will
No elemental resistances or immunities
A couple times a day it can haste itself for a round, can pounce, and swallow whole
Has DR and the normal mummy rejuvenation ability.
Waiting on Hadjii to act..
Arduino the Lesser
Ard 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Kin 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Hadjii
The Hadj will try to occupy the thing's attention by using Totemic Summons -- to cast SUMMON NATURE'S ALLY VI as a standard action -- bringing forth 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 augmented dire wolves; they should be able to block it from pummeling the party...
they all start 15' away, and charge in for vicious biting:
#1 augmented Dire Wolf's bite attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 2 = 15 ...
the rest have flanking...
#2 augmented Dire Wolf's bite attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 22 ...
#3 augmented Dire Wolf's bite attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 31
if AC 31 hits, then 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 points of damage
...*and* Dire Wolf's TRIP attempt: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 33 vs CMD...
#4 augmented Dire Wolf's bite attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 20 ...
#5 augmented Dire Wolf's bite attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 33 (!)
for 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 points of damage
...*and* Dire Wolf's TRIP attempt: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 20 vs CMD...
