(Night events....)
Tired from repairing the longboat with your psionic powers, you fall asleep early, in order to make sure you have enough rest before your shift with Sasha.
You find yourself in the longboat on the open sea at night. Sitting across from you, rowing the boat, is First Mate Alton. He's obviously dead, with the wounds and stings his body displayed when you found him on the Jenivere, his head at an awkward angle, but still he rows. Eventually, the boat reaches an island covered with snakes. Alton waits as you exit the boat onto the shore, standing ankle-deep in serpents, and then he turns and rows back out to sea. The First Mate chuckles once as he leaves you to your fate. You assume Alton is off to look for more survivors from the ship to ferry to shore. But Alton never returns, the longboat cannot be seen on the moonlit waters, and you wake up just as the snakes start to bite...
The night passes uneventfully, and quietly, except for the usual jungle noises from the wildlife.

Fantastic. No disease. But both Aerys and Ishirou are both Panicked.
The morning is something else. Shevan and Gelik are usually silent, and Varash seems slow at moving. Jask is the main motivator this morning, cheerfully cooking some nuts in the fire, filling up cups for everyone, and trying to make small talk. Aerys comes out of her tent, her face sunk and swollen, and gingerly takes a cup of water offered by the middle-aged cleric. She goes off to a corner by herself, looking out at the jungle.
If the half-elf was a cat, she'd have all her hackles up and would be looking all over for a dog or critter to hiss at. The woman is clearly on her last nerve, almost rocking herself in place to reassure herself.
(GM hint: if you want to change a NPC's Attitude or Morale, you have to do it once a day in the morning, or use special circumstances in the story.)
GMP-Gelik Aberwhinge
The plucky gnome stirred after his first cup of hot stimulant from the fire. "Eh." he began, then cleared his throat. "Er, did anyone have any strange dreams last night? I seem to have dreamed something about soup back onboard the Jenivere. Soup and...snakes." Gelik shuddered at the last.
GMP-Jask Derindi
"Bad dreams?" Jask asked, looking at the crowd around the fire. "Well, don't worry! I feel we have a good team here, and we will be able to get off this island and back to civilization in no time!" the older man stated, grinning at the prospect. Jask looked over at Ishirou, and asked, "Right, Ishirou?" The Tian man did not answer, because he was staring into his own clay cup. Jask asked, a little louder, "Ishirou? Ishirou!"
GMP-Ishirou
The mercenary dropped his cup and stood, his hand flashing to his katana, half-unsheathing the blade as he looked around at everyone. When stunned silence greeted him around the campfire, with everyone's eyes on him, the Tian man slammed his hilt back home, saying "I am sorry. I was thinking...of other things. I will go check the traps." Ishirou turned, carefully making his way out to the beach trail, then turning south.
Ishirou's hands are shaking like a leaf, despite his gruff outer appearance.
GMP-Gelik Aberwhinge
"Well that was normal." Gelik deadpanned from where he was sitting. He looked at Phillip. "Have you tried talking to the man yet? Yesterday I tried, but Ishirou looked at me like he wanted to use me as bait in one of his traps. I prefer not dangling from the end of a rope! Ha!" the gnome asked Philip.
Ashana Blacktail
Ashana will listen to the talk of dreams. Interesting that everyone had dreams last night except me...and all of them about our current situation she thinks to herself. As Philip wonders off Ashana will get up and streatch, her back cracking loudly. She looks down the beach at Philip and wonders if she should follow him but figures he has it sorted out. Her eyes then wonder over to Aerys. She seems even worse off than she did yesterday...I wonder if there is anything I can do to ease her pain. She will study the woman for a moment and try to figure out what exactly she's suffering from(though its pretty obvious). After she's figured out everything that Aerys is suffering from she will approach the woman carefully.
"I'm sorry about last night. I didn't mean to be so nosy and I forget that my curiosity about everything can be quite off putting to those who aren't used to it. I see you're going through the effects of withdraw. Is there anything I can do to help? I do not have any alcohol but perhaps this island has something on it that can ease your pain...or be fermented. Would you like me to go look for you?"

Booya look at those dice rolls! Cant wait to see the results of those
GMP-Aerys Mavato
You have zero ranks in the Heal skill, so to your untrained eye Aeyrs is in full withdrawal from something, likely her alcohol. More alcohol would "fix" her, but so would going the full length of the withdrawal. Aeyrs obviously needs a little more food and water than normal, but her activity has been minimal the last few days, so she isn't dehydrated yet.
(Diplomacy check successful, Aerys' attitude moved from Unfriendly to Indifferent, but her morale is still Frightened.)
The half-elf looked suspiciously at the catlike creature. "Right now my headache is so bad I can't think straight." she complained. Still rocking herself, Aeyrs said "No, there's nothing to be done, unless that half-orc can find some grain or grapes to distill!"[/b] The woman flickered a smile, but groaned and held her head again, moving out of the sunlight coming down through the leaves. Sighing, Aerys looked at the camp. "I suppose I should help clean things up, keep the bugs out of my tent." she admitted, looking at the others moving around. The half-elf unsteadily stood, then walked back to the center of the camp.
GMP-Ishirou
Phillip found the Tian man easily after a few minutes. The mercenary was checking the string of a snare trap. Rather than a bell, the string had several sea shells strung along its' length, so that when the trap was sprung the shells would collapse along the string, making a recognizable sound.
"Yes?" Ishirou said gruffly, seeing Phillip. The man's hands brushed the leaves around the snare's string, burying the trap in the undergrowth again.
Phillip Conti
Pretending? I'm trying to keep everybody's spirits up. If we don't stay positive, then we won't make it off. If that means that I have to lose the air of propriety I usually have, so be it. Sorry to have wasted your time.
Phillip leaves in a huff.
Eh. 19th century is a bit old-fashioned for me. :P
Adriano Fierro
Adriano walks over to Sasha "I have a proposal for you." he sits down across from her "I help you get an egg of one of those flying creatures and you help me learn some basic survival skills. he looks at her "whether you help me or not, I will help you get the egg because it seems to mean a lot to you to get one"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
GMP-Sasha Nevah
Sasha's eyes got big. "REALLY?" she asked excitedly. "We can go right now - we know the way, and I just have to grab a few things!" Sasha went to the pile of equipment and began tossing stuff aside as she looked for specific items. "We'll need rope, and a sack, and the grappling hook, and-" she said to herself, ecstatic. The woman threw the piles of hemp rope on her shoulders, adding other things to her belt.
(And the cleric player "scores"! Making the overall romantic plot threads of the Adventure Path that more interesting. :) )
GMP-Gelik Aberwhinge
Gelik is not amused by Sasha's eagerness to spread the pile of equipment around. "Here now!" he exclaimed. "If you want a pet, fine, but don't be making a mess! I haven't decided where to send you lot exploring today! There's the beach to the south to consider, and you haven't even made it to the inner lagoon yet. Or even the jungle around us. Why, there could be all kinds of dangers around us." The small man protested, his hands on his hips as he stared at the taller woman.
Adriano Fierro
Adriano looks at Gelik "Sasha is just excited to get going, we will explore after we get what we need or on the way there." He looks at the mess. "We will clean that up before we go, it looks like she is just getting the essentials needed for the day." Adriano smiles and whispers to Gelik "If you think you can stop her once she has her mind made up, go ahead and try to stop her."
Ashana Blacktail
Ashana sighs as Andriano agrees to help Sasha. Shaking her head she excuses herself from her talking with Aerys and heads to her lean-to. She grabs her equipment and tries to hide some daggers on her person.
Coming out she says "I might as well come to make sure things don't get to out of hand...if I end up getting eaten though I'm holding the two of you personally responsible. I will so come back and haunt you."
GMP-Gelik Aberwhinge
Gelik threw up his hands. "Fine." he said. "Go on your wild goose chase for a pet. I'll make do with the archer, the cleric, the half-orc, and the mercenary here. And the half-elf with the shakes. But don't blame me if you all end up getting eaten by those flying reptiles!" The gnome berated the explorers.

(So tell me the direction - East or West of the camp, the same way you went yesterday or a new direction, and I'll come up with a better map of where you're going. I've also updated the status of the NPCs on the Campaign Tab.)
GM_Pace
(Okay!)
With a wave behind you, Shevan Risa talking to Varash Ironskull about where he hunted yesterday, you set out South from the campsite. Sasha is in the best mood you've seen her since beginning your voyage on the Jenivere.
After two hours of slogging through the heavy jungle brush, you all realize that 1.) it's hot, and 2.) you should've brought wide-bladed weapons. Sasha's rapier cut some of the thinner growth, but your party has to stop and go around several obstacles because of the sheer impassibility of the jungle. (Anybody got a machete? Longsword?)
Finally you get to the ridgeline directly South of the base camp. The inner lagoon of Smuggler's Shiv is much quieter than the endless surf of the outer edge, peaceful, even. You can either go down the near-vertical ridge to the sandy beach 100 feet below, or continue along the ridge's edge to the West. The loam is firmer than the sand, but the unevenness of the ridgeline is treacherous.
Map of the Shiv that you've explored
(I'll need some rolls depending on what you decide to do.)
Ashana Blacktail
Ashana slows as the heat begins to get to her. As she sees the water she runs to the edge of the cliff. "I'm with Sasha besides we could cool off in the bay before we continue in this oppressive heat.
With that she starts setting up her own rope, tying one end of her rope to her grappling hook and setting it against a steady looking tree. "Hopefully the hook will hold sound enough for us to use the rope and then retrieve the hook once we're done." she explains as she throws the other end of the rope over the side of the cliff. She gives the rope a few test tugs and, fairly confident that the rope will hold, begins climbing down.
Climb check:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Adriano Fierro
I have a Scimitar would that help cutting the growth.
"I agree with the beach and the bay it might be good to cool down before we trek further." Adriano looks at the cliff and sighs he begins to climb down the rope slowly as not to fall
Taking 20 on the Climb check.
GM_Pace
(You can't "take 20" on a skill being attempted that carries a penalty for failure, Adriano. "0" or failure means a 100-foot-drop, in this case. But you can ask for assists from the others, including Ashana, who is already on the rope. Using Ashana's rope reduces the DC to 10. Try rolling.)
