Thought I rolled Nina's Day Job check earlier but I guess I only dreamed that I did! Let's fix that.
Craft: Carpentry: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Merry Christmas/Holidays/Monday everyone! :)
I've worked all night and have a full day of family stuff ahead so I may or may not be able to post today. In fact, by this afternoon I suspect I'll be questioning my life choices a bit but oh well :)

![]() |

Merry Christmas!
Be of good cheer, Pathfinders!
Enjoying family this morning. I’ll update the gameplay thread later today.

![]() |

Merry Christmas!
I may drop a post in while it's still earlyish, but I'll be spending most of the day with family, friends, food and drink. I'll be back in full swing tomorrow. Have a good one!

![]() |

I picked up a stomach bug over Christmas, so I'm going to be out for another day or two. Feel free to bot me while I'm snuggled up in bed. ;)

![]() |

Oh no! Feel better soon, Lord B!

![]() |

Added in some more info GM. You caught me trying to add in info before I was done!

![]() |

Thanks guys! I'm starting to feel better now and slowly catching up on things. :)

Peek Behind the GM's Curtain
You might be wondering about the fast pace of my posting at present.
Basically, I'm trying to convey a lot of dry exposition, which some players will find interesting but others will find boring, through an efficient-as-possible combination of introduction of NPCs and their dialogue with the PCs.
I could wait for everyone to chime in on each and every exchange, but I want to avoid having this drag out too long, especially for players who aren't as interested in all of that. (Some are, some aren't, and sometimes a player just doesn't have the time.)
If you feel slighted or overlooked, please just handle it this way: When you post, divide up your text into parts, e.g., At the Town Gate, At Arwyll Manner, etc. I'll do my best to address your post in the next one of my own.

![]() |

GM you are doing a great job. I'll make sure to indicate what scene Bishop is posting in next time in case it seems unclear.
Usually if the dialogue has advanced to a point where it doesnt seem feasible to back track I'll just wait to chime in when Bishop has something he wants to add.

![]() |

I think that's a great way of doing it, Lorenzo, and also how I'd handle it.

Ya I'm feeling like I'm hogging the action here but I guess I'm not. I've never had a huge mind for the sleuthing part of things, but Hanlin would be interested in it somewhat. Gotta set the stage and get that background info out!

![]() |

GM Lorenzo enjoyed a little too much vino with friends this evening. Gonna wait till tomorrow morning and post sober.

![]() |

Hee...glad you had a good time with your friends :3
*edit* Regarding earlier, I'm okay with the faster-than-usual pacing. If I seem slow to post, it's almost always due to my work schedule rather than a lack of interest in what's going on. But don't worry about holding things up on my account, if there's something I really want Nina to address I'll do it in the manner that you requested and otherwise I'll just roll with it and jump in where I can!

![]() |

I'm not sure I could have added anything meaningful over the last few days, so the posting rate turned out to be perfect for me. If there is ever something I want to add to a past post though, I'll make sure to do it how you said. ;)

I will have healed Kibble before heading to bed, so assume he's at full health. CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
More little evil buggers to zap hurrah!

![]() |

Woops! Thanks, I totally forgot about that. I'll scratch that charge off of my wand and give the rest to you for safe keeping. :)

Peek Behind the GM's Curtain
For the encounter in Erlathan and Lord Braggett's room, I needed to refresh my memory on combat with tiny creatures. Have a look here.

![]() |

"Hey, who you callin' tiny!?"
_______
Heh, good call on setting a watch! *munches popcorn, waiting for Nina's turn*

![]() |

Kibble still has the AoO tied to the bodyguard roll in my previous post. Not that it's relevant this round, I just thought you might like to know that I'll always consider it saved for that task. ;)
I think I handled it correctly:
1. I applied one AoO to Kibble's Bodyguard boost to Lord Braggett's AC when Yellow took its AoO.2. Kibble has a second AoO to expend if needed to boost another ally's AC.
3. With a Dex of 16 and Combat Reflexes, he still has the ability to take the AoO when Yellow attempts to use a SLA.
If I've misunderstood something, please let me know.

![]() |

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to worry you or anything. You did handle it correctly and I never thought otherwise. I just never mentioned how many AoOs Kibble has, and I wanted you to know that I would never use an AoO that I had already assigned (and rolled) for use with the bodyguard feat for any other purpose.

![]() |

Peek Behind the GM Screen
One of the things I appreciate about PbP is the time and opportunity to check the rules, looking for answers or clarification, even about situations that seem routine.
So, regarding Erlathan's intended actions, I reviewed Moving and AoOs.
Moving: Moving out of a threatened square usually provokes attacks of opportunity from threatening opponents. There are two common methods of avoiding such an attack—the 5-foot step and the withdraw action.
I don't think the imp's tiny size changes that.
I would also permit an Acrobatics check (DC=Opponent's CMD at moving half speed or CMD+10 at full speed), in this case DC15 or DC25, to avoid an AoO in this circumstance, drawing the wand as part of the move.
These 'peeks' are intended to show my rationale, not to sound pompous or pretentious.

![]() |

Oops. My bad on this. Instead of drawing my wand, then, I'll use a Withdraw action to avoid the AoO.

![]() |

I really like the 'peeks.' It's one of the really nice things about these GM mentor games, and I'm learning a lot from them.

![]() |

I'm trying to keep track of Kibble's pool of AoOs.
He gets the usual 1, plus 3 more for his Dex bonus from the Combat Reflexes feat.
Two were set aside for Bodyguard (one of which was used). One was used against Yellow. He should have still had one available for Red.
If that math adds up, Kibble can still make a normal attack.
His AoOs should reset at the beginning of his turn.

![]() |

Oh man, I feel like such a wally! I always thought that combat reflexes increased the total AoOs up to your Dex bonus, not that they were additional attacks. Sorry for the confusion, I'll add another attack ASAP. Thanks so much for the run down.

![]() |

GM sorry for the confusion but going forward can you note Bishop as always having Combat Expertise up. I have the trait Threatening Defender - When you use Combat Expertise, reduce the number you subtract from your melee attack rolls by 1. So I don't put the -1 in my combat macro because it cancels out. I'm fine taking the 2 points of damage.
I must have missed your post about always employing combat expertise. I deleted the damage Bishop took from the red lemure.

![]() |

My apologies. I misread the minor gaav's DR. Silver doesn't bypass it. I retconned the damage.
If that changes your actions, let me know, and I'll make the adjustments.

![]() |

No worries! I'll just draw the fail at the end of the round in preparation for the next. :)

![]() |

I've been hit with some sort of sickness the last 24hrs, hope to get caught up tonight.

![]() |

Feel better soon!

![]() |

Yes, hope you feel better soon!

![]() |

Bishop was supposed to be leaping onto the table like a grippli in mating season. Darn auto-correct. Burned again!

![]() |

@Erlathan: I moved your icon within range for your wand's grease spell, and I think I used the right DC.

![]() |

@Lord Braggett: Do you want to have Kibble attack this round? Shouldn't interfere with his Bodyguard actions.

![]() |

Since Braggett is currently riding bareback, I'm afraid to risk the ride check needed to allow him to attack in the same round as Kibble - especially with the DR on the lemures. Once we have time to armour and saddle up, they'll both be attacking all the time again. :)

![]() |

In your next post, please indicate if your PC using/carrying any of the items Isald Forgemore and Ovir Radan have given you.
If you wish to present any of the items to Vegazi, please let me know that, too.

![]() |

Is there any way you could add a list of the items we've found somewhere so we don't need to scroll back and forth to keep track? A separate slide or something? Then we can keep the item and who has it easily accessible.
Also, how is this going to work for a Cleric, needing 1hr of prep time to regain/prepare spells for the day. Similar to how a wizard/arcanist would. So far I have just been working with what I didn't expend the previous day for spells and refreshed my channels like you said to.

![]() |

See the simple Treasure/Owner matrix on Slide 3.
A lance is a two-handed melee weapon. While using a buckler, you can also use your shield arm to wield a weapon (whether you are using an off-hand weapon or using your off hand to help wield a two-handed weapon), but you take a –1 penalty on attack rolls while doing so.

![]() |

Ok that's what I thought. Makes more sense now, was wondering why you always saw knights using lances on horseback with shields.
Lance: A lance deals double damage when used from the back of a charging mount. While mounted, you can wield a lance with one hand.
Its up to Nina, I just didn't want that nice buckler to go to waste. I'm not 100% sure why I didn't put a buckler on this guy other than light shields look cooler in my opinion heh. I don't expect to do any shield bashing with Hanlin.
