Fedorean listens to the man talk, and shakes his head in agreement with Guido's statement, he watches the man carefully trying to ascertain motive but senses nothing and says:
"Do we have your word good sir, that all profits from this undertaking will be shared equally among all party members involved?"
after asking the question of the man, Fedorean leans over to Halkale and says:
"Absolutely, My inn will work nicely for our base of operations, I have several rooms available that i will allow the party to occupy for free, however I do ask that you pay for any ale or stout you drink past the first glass per day, the stuff doesn't come cheap, and I cant afford to give away my entire supply...not at least until I can procure a larger amount of fortune than I currently posses!"
Fedorean laughs jovially and then returns to the business at hand, and awaits a reply from the strange man.
Halkale the PF core rule book pg 89 shows a table that indicates that Knowledge (local) is not usable untrained, I looked it up because i was going to attempt it myself, and as a question am I to assume that the DM roll above was used to see what characters receive information and which don't, with the ones receiving having their name and a "Show" button, and that we are to not open the show button unless our name is there?

A smile flickers over al'Hakam's lips at Guido's words before it disappears. "I guarantee it, sir. I always follow the letter of my agreements." he says to Fedorean and Guido, "But remember that I allow you to enter the ruin, on the condition that you bring me the agreements. That I choose to reward your good work is a demonstration of my good faith."
He offers his hand for each of you to shake. Even if not all of you do so, he bows and thanks you for your work before walking away and departing the party.
The rest of the night is yours, and may prepare for your journey on the morrow in any way you wish.

"Excellent! consider it done Sir!"
Fedorean Shakes the mans hand.
" Well folks, I'm heading back to my tavern to get some rest and prepare, those of you who wish, may accompany me, I have a couple extra rooms you can use, and we can get supply's and gear at the shops in the neighborhood before we depart".

Halkale follows Fedorean to his inn. Changing back into his normal explorer's outfit and putting on his armor, in the morning after resting. He stores his "nice" clothes at the inn.

After establishing where to meet in the morning, Anya excuses herself and heads for her own lodgings.
Come morning, she meets everyone at the designated rendezvous point clad in a nearly-identical set of tailored robes, her hair up in a bun, a cloak over her shoulders and a pack in hand.

![]() |

Abasi also heads to Fedorean's inn. In the morning he meets with his companions, but this time with a pack, spiked shield, shortbow, and quiver slung over his back. He's changed into an older, slightly dingier uniform, and wears a set of scale armor over this. All jewelry has been taken off.
He also purchases 4 days worth of trail rations before meeting with everyone.

Fedorean makes sure his guests are comfortable, and then heads off to bed, in the morning he readies himself,Studded leather armor, short sword, dagger and crossbow. he packs up the rest of his supplies in his backpack and heads across the street to the weapons dealer, where he buys a solid looking Light Mace. He then looks for a health potion or two to buy but finding none, goes about his business, He then heads out and meets up with the others at the rendezvous point and asks:
"So which one of you is a healer again?

One of Amara Li's people delivers a map detailing the route to the ruin before you leave the party, and when you set out in the dawn light, the air is cool. As the sun rises in the sky the temperature rises quickly. The journey grows arduous as the terrain becomes rocky and marred with the scars of millennia of wars. You begin rationing the water in your waterskins but no actual resistance is encountered along the way. The map leads you to a small gully in the shattered landscape; at the end of the gully, about fifteen feet above the ground on a cliff face, is an ancient, ironbound door. Its wood is dried and cracked. Directly in front of the door is a steep slope of rubble and dust-crusted debris that, as luck would have it, provides a path—albeit a rough and difficult one— right up to the door.

Seeing Abasi Draw his sword, and ready himself for battle, Fedorean realizes he has spotted something up ahead and says:
" Wait!..before you attack whatever is up there, let me try and sneak around and find out whether it is a friend or a foe..if its a foe, I will make an stealth attack to open battle"
Fedorean uses his move action to quickly and quietly move forward and stop next to a boulder hoping not to be noticed by whatever is up ahead, Hoping to assess the current situation he makes a sense motive check, he uses his standard move to Draw his short sword. As he is getting into position he hears Anya call out to the stranger.

The half-elf oracle sees the figure and immediately realizes something is wrong. He follows in Abasi's style and unslings his shield from his back and places it before him in a defensive stance, spear cocked back at the ready. As he does this, the sounds around him begin to distort and shift... he prepares himself...
Anya calls out something to the woman in a strange tongue. Elian wonders to himself why this must happen to him...

Halkale sees all of his companions readying for battle and he finally sees the woman. He pulls an arrow out and knocking it on his bow, readying himself, He steps around Anya, spreading away from the group some.

Drogan points out the woman to others while taking out his sword. He stands ready to take on this creature. "It's a ghoul! It must be killed!"

Fedorean, not wanting to waste time or lives fighting a single women, shouts at the women from his hiding spot by the boulder:
"we are from the Pathfinders society, sent here on a mission to reclaim lost property, Either state your business, immediately remove yourself from our presence and don't return, or prepare to meet your end!

Again, not sure when Im suppose to roll things and when the GM does, but thought id put up that roll like i would in home games, this could have also been an intimidate roll, but my diplomacy mod is better, if that's not the way, please correct me..=}

Fedorean Looks at Guido and says:
Well, I figured if shes alive enough to threaten to eat us, shes alive enough to get the hell out of here, Id rather not risk my neck killing this thing if we don't have too, I'm sure there are plenty more inside that we can have some fun with..and I don't remember that Old Guy offering us any reward per head for Killing these things do you?"..and now that I think about it..I've never heard of a talking ghoul..don't they usually just stumble around and Moan?

![]() |

"No, the eagle prick didn't mention a bounty, but it seems to me not leaving trouble behind is its own reward."
Guido makes an obscene gesture to the ghoul-lady.
"Come here babe, I've got something you can nibble on."

Fedorean Chuckles as he listens to Guido and says:
"Patience Grasshopper, lets see if she will answer, THEN we can bash her skull in once we know if she has anything of value?..like maybe she can tell us where this damn sword is..deal?" Fedorean Chuckles as he returns to watching the shadowy figure bumble around.

"My blade can feast upon her, Long-Ears! She needs to meet her judgement in the Boneyard and I am more than happy to help her get there." Drogan curses under his breath for not remembering a ranged weapon. Hopefully he'll find one in the ruins or else will have to buy one from the proceeds of this expedition.
Drogan turns towards the ghoul, yelling, "I'm coming up there you vile creature. Try to eat me. I will gladly make you sorry for not accepting death!
Drogan looks at the others. "Well? What are you waiting for? Let's get her!
Assuming Drogan can now act as a full action:
Drogan angrily throws down his shield and bellows, "By my mother's honor!" He scrambles up the rock strewn slope.
Drogan rages. Dropping his shield and the increase in Strength give him a Climb of +3. Drogan attempts to take 10 (total of 13) to ascend the slope as a double move assuming it is difficult terrain. Drogan will move three squares to the left in a straight line.
Rage spent: 1 round.
Stats while raging: Str 20, Con 14, AC 15 (currently 13 without shield), HP 14. Longsword +6, 1d8+5.

The woman seems to snap out of her hunger for a moment when Fedorean mentions the Pathfinders. "Pathfinders... I am..." she says, but Drogan's challenge makes the humanity drain from her face and she crouches, her hands forming claws and her mouth opening to reveal sharpened teeth as Drogan climbs to just in front of her.
Top of the Initiative order: Anya, Abasi, Fedorean
The slope is a DC 10 Climb check which is done at 1/4 speed, or it is DC 15 if you rapid climb at 1/2 speed.

Letting her breath out in a hiss as Drogan charges the ghoul, Anya murmurs arcane syllables and weaves her hands in the gestures of a spell. A moment later, a small sizzling ball of greenish viscous liquid appears and launches itself at the undead woman.

Assuming that Anya still gets to act from the surprise round when she delayed, she's firing a splash of acid at the ghoul in the surprise round as well.

Fedorean slightly annoyed at his companions rush to attack just as the women started to say something, decides its now a lost cause to try and talk to the ghoul further, decides the only thing left to do is dispatch the thing as quickly as possible.
"Damn it All, she was about to say something..maybe next time, you guys could have a little patience before rushing in, its a good way to get us all killed, nothing to do now but slay the thing as fast as possible..Abasi draw it out so that I can flank it!
Fedorean waits for Abasi to make his move, and clutching his Short sword waits for his turn to attack!

Abasi raises his eyes to the high heavens in a silent plea at his companion's remarks and Drogan's scramble to the top of the slope.
He heads towards the slope, sheathing his weapons as he does so. When he reaches the slope, he attempts to climb it, but to no avail.

The urge to cover his ears against the foreign speech spouting from his companions' lips rises up in Elian; however, he steeled himself against it, as he had done much of his life. He did not know exactly what was happening, but he understood combat.
The fighters moved forward to engage the threat, which left a few behind. He decides to dedicate his attention to protecting Anya. He wasn't much of a fighter, but he could at least be a barrier between the wizard. He brings his shield around in front of them, gesturing with his spear for Anya to remain behind him.
Dedicating standard action to Total Defense. He will remain in front of Anya.

With a massive strike, Drogan's sword ends the pitiable creature's unnatural existence. The woman drops to the ground and rolls to the bottom of the slope, limp and torn. When she stops rolling, her face is towards the sky and all trace of the foul curse that lay upon her is gone and she appears to be at peace.
On her body you find three vials of liquid, Leather Armor, a Shortbow with 20 Arrows, a Dagger, Masterwork Thieves Tools, and an Opal.

![]() |

" OOOH..Masterwork Thieves tools...since i am the only one in the group that can use those, is it alright if i help myself?..as for the Bow & Arrows I believe someone in the group forgot to bring one, so let them have that, Anya can you do detect magic on the vials of liquid?..or do you know what they are?..as for the Opal, Dagger, and armor..I could use an extra Dagger if no one else needs it, do you guys want to cast lots for the the rest?"
In our home games, we have taken to rolling 1d20 for loot that more than one person wants, Like a Greed Roll in WoW, is there a specific why in which we divide the loot here?

Fedorean also checks the the woman for any signs of who she might be, hoping that if he can find out who she is, the family might offer a reward for information on what happened to her.

Anya shudders as the corpse as it rolls to a stop nearby. "Poor woman," she murmurs. She cautiously approaches, accepting the vials of liquid from Fedorean and starts experimenting with them to determine their contents.

As I explained in the discussion thread, you will not be keeping anything you find during the adventure. That doesn't mean you can't use it however until the end of the scenario and then purchase it with the money you get.
The vials are magical potions! Two Cure Light Wounds and one Protection from Evil.
The door at the top of the slope awaits!

![]() |

Pointing out the potions' contents, Anya tosses one of the healing potions to Drogan and the other to Abasi. "I have a feeling you two will be the ones needing those," she remarks, tucking the protection potion into her belt. "I'll hold on to the protection potion, just so we have it on hand. And let's worry about what to do with the rest later--for now, just carry what we can. I wouldn't mind a dagger, but I won't need it if we're in a fight, so go ahead, Fedorean. Same with the bow."
She motions toward the door. "Shall we?"

![]() |

Abasi makes a slight bow to Anya.
"Thank you. And I very well might, though only if we encounter no more cliffs. They seemed to be a greater foe to me than the woman."
And to Fedorean:
"I need nor want any of the rest, either. Keep it."
He glances at the corpse, and shakes his head regretfully. He then nods at Anya when she motions towards the door, and heads towards it.
