Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra says "I can detect undead now. Can anyone follow me with a light? I'll check how the basement looks now. We can check the secret room after. Jorfa, will you stick with Jominda?"
She walsk a circle through the jailing rooms, then to the middle of the basement, and up to the portcullis in the north and south.
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra returns to the torture chamber, where Jominda and Jorfa still sit.
"There's only undead left in the Nevermore, behind the portcullis with the broken winch. With any luck, this secret room has a passage towards it. Let's check if it's not just a stash like the other one, and if it isn't, we can keep it 'till tomorrow. That ok Jominda?"
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
"This looks like a passage all right." Kendra remarks. As she looks at Jorfa she continues.
"Let's postpone that 'till tomorrow. Let us get some rest and then put a watch at the statue."
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra looks after Jominda for a moment, and then says to the rest "I'll be there tonight. I'll take first shift, at ah... let's say, sunset?"
Then she runs after Jominda.
"Wait up, dear. I'll help you to settle in. Can't have you drag yourself to home when you're feeling this ill."
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra makes sure Jominda drinks a bit before she falls asleep.
"Mind if I take another look at those wounds you received?"
GM Foxy |
The holes look like a translucent spike would still stick in the flesh holding open the perfectly round shape. And no blood is flowing out.

"These certainly don't look like ordinary wounds." Kendra says.
After a short gesture she continues,

"But it's not magical either. I really have no idea what this is."

"I hope Father Grimburrow comes up with something. I know of no disease that causes such strange symptoms. Am I haunted now?" Jominda ponders.

With that bad rolls we're probably burning down the house if we try to cook chicken soup :P
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
"Can I get you anything before you go to sleep? Or for when you wake up?"
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
"No, but I can make you one." Kendra smiles warmly. She stands up and moves to the kitchen area, where she starts looking for ingredients and a plate and cutlery
Jominda Fallenbridge __ |
Jominda's kitchen is a mess - a one person household mess, so it's bearable - but everything is there. And where one would expect it. For the tools you find not necessarily a clean item but who cares. Not Jominda. There is ham, cheese, bread some tomatoes and a withered lettuce. Also a pot with a lid on it.
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra recoils from the jar as she opens it, and quickly screws the lid back on. She'll have to dispose of the contents later. First, she quickly makes Jominda a sandwich, and brings it to her on the cleanest plate she can find.
"Here you go, dear. Eat well, get your strength back up."
Jominda Fallenbridge __ |
"Thank you." Jominda replies with a smile while she curls herself up under the blanket.
Almost drifting off to sleep she is suddenly fully awake again as if hit by lightning. "But you're not going alone to watch the memorial, are you?"
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
"I will, but I'll only watch. Don't worry, I won't try to stop anything from happening."
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
"I'll be fine, really. Get some rest." Kendra insists.
Jorfa |
Kendra looks after Jominda for a moment, and then says to the rest "I'll be there tonight. I'll take first shift, at ah... let's say, sunset?"
"Fine with me." Jorfa replies and goes to her home to get some rest. She gets up again in the late afternoon. She visits the laughing demon for an ale. Close to sunset she leaves and walks over the bridge to the posting pole to read what's new in town and waits for Kendra.
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
After Kendra made sure Jominda sleeps, she actually just takes the sofa and sleeps there. When she wakes up she makes something to eat for herself, checks on the still sleeping Jominda, and has something to drink.
Making a mental note that she needs to throw out the stew still, she goes towards the monument, but meets Jorfa halfway.
"Hello Jorfa." she smiles.
_Father_Grimburrow_ |
Grimburrow follows everyone back to town with a very downtrodden look. He seldom looks up and only nods when spoken to.
What he saw in the iron maiden has seriously unnerved him.
He eats a basic meal of bread, cheese and water before he goes to the Temple vaults to search for scrolls.
At sunset he makes his way to Jominda's house with an arm full of different scrolls, so tall he can barely look over the top of them.
He knocks at the door with his foot and shouts in "Its me. Would you kindly let me in."
_Father_Grimburrow_ |
Grimburrow nods as he rolls up the scrol, moves back to the table, and grabs two more scrolls. He then goes back to the room and incants the remove curse first followed by a detect curse.
Caster lvl Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
He then uses the other scroll, and seeing as she no longer detects as cursed he takes the scrolls and heads back to the temple to drop off the scrolls before making his way to the bridge near the memorial
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra looks up. "Father, you're here as well? It's quite a party like this."
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra looks around for a vantage point from which they have a good view of the memorial, but some cover or shadow themselves.
GM Foxy |
Leading to the memorial Kendra searches for a good place. You come past a farmer's house and Gibs' shack on the way there. The memorial stands betrween the river and the scrub growing along the river. It is not hard to find some place inside this scrub where it provides some concealment. But it is uncomfortable.
Gibs Hephenus - the guy who led the mob that wanted to hinder Kendra to bury her father in the Restlands
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
"I can fetch some blankets where we can lie on?", Kendra says as she gestures at the shrubbery.
replying to Jorfa, she grins "Too bad the Sheriff isn't here. I would ask him, in return for our help, to force Gibs to lend us some stools."
Jorfa |
"I'll go and fetch some." Jorfa replies and walks back to her workshop where she grabs three three legged stools and brings then to the memorial.
"One for each of us. Let's find a comfortable place." she tells and disappears into the bushes.

Kendra fetches the stone of alarm from her pocket.
"Maybe this'll help."
She holds the cube against the back of the monument, the other side of where the writing was, and speaks the command word the earlier detect magic had revealed. It attaches itself, and kendra quickens her pace as she moves towards the bushes and the others.

As the night falls it becomes dark and for those without darkvision there is nothing to see anymore. The moon is only a crescent and even that light is blocked by a cloud now and then. In the darkness the noise from the crickets and the rustling of some rodents - one hopes it's only rodents - becomes really loud in comparison to the general silence of the night.
As the night passes on and nothing happens Jorfa's eyelids become heavy and she nods off. Kendra is kept awake by the adrenalin and nudges Jorfa now and then when the snoring becomes too obvious or when she hears something suspicious she can't see. Father Grimburrow can stay awake easily but his old bones hurt from the sitting in the bush and he has to shift around every few minutes which is really noisy. As the hours pass on there is suddenly barking heard. It is Old River the town dog that lives on the town square and sleeps under the gazebo steps there. He barks two times then a muffled yelp and then silence again. Creepy silence.
Kendra Lorrimor _ |
Kendra nudges Jorfa again, and whispers under her breath, "I think whoever's coming just startled and silenced the dog. All we have to do now is wait and see."
