Harrow point uses:
  • Constitution Rerolls: PC can spend a Harrow Point to reroll a Fortitude saving throw, stabilization check, or other Constitution-based check. She must abide by the new result (although if she has additional Harrow Points remaining, she can use them to attempt additional rerolls).
  • Damage Reduction: PC can spend a Harrow Point to gain DR 3/—. This damage reduction persists for the duration of the encounter in which she spent the Harrow Point. A PC can’t spend multiple Harrow Points to increase this damage reduction.
  • Fast Hit Point Recovery: A PC can spend a Harrow Point after resting for 1 minute to recover from her recent ordeals. She regains a number of hit points equal to her character level and 1 point of ability damage each time she does so (this does not remove ability drain). She can spend a Harrow Point in this manner once after each encounter.
  • Number of times plague has been contracted:
    Aloysia = 0
    Gamon = 2

Aloysia pulls out her grappling hook and rope, finds the best spot she can to hook it on the ledge that isn't in obvious view of the public (if possible), wraps it around her arm a couple times, and begins to descend the wall toward the water.

    Climb with rope: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Upon reaching the water, she keeps the end of the rope wrapped around her arm so she has an anchor in case she has trouble swimming and heads toward the pier.

    Swim to pier: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

At the pier she finds a place she can climb up when it looks clear enough of passersby.

    Climb the pier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Then secures the rope to the pier leaving enough slack for the 50 ft rope to sag into the water allowing for a down-climb for everyone else, and an up-climb to get on the pier.

All of this is, of course, pending she didn't just fail any checks!

I have pictures and things needed to upload to show the full gravitas of the situation at hand, which I can't do from this computer. So in about 4ish hours we'll see the outcomes of these actions. Until then...

    Spoilers

Aloysia manages to get down the rope easily and holds on while the current of the river pulls on her. However she does not make headway towards the underpier...

Cecil will consider the situation, putting his mind to work at a way to get there while working with the current. He checks his bag for rope and sighs. "Thought I had bought some." he mutters.

"Maybe we should borrow a raft?" he suggests. "But we need to hurry, my magic armor will not last forever." Yet.

A dark form comes from the water under the fishery, a large fin breaking the surface as it heads towards Aloysia. An enormous shark briefly breaches before continuing its path towards the elf.

These sharks have a type of blindsense because of the sensory organs just within their snout. They are also extremely quick in the water and have been known to attack those just on land if wounded.

The haunted curse in action, folks, pulling out that javelin was a standard action.

Technically, the rules say nothing about a trip target being on the ground, just that some things can't be tripped. Those things typically have a note in their CMD about not being able to be tripped. I can easily imagine the force of the spell causing a swimming creature to lose sense of 'up' and 'down' temporarily causing it to be prone. I don't know, works in my head.

    Toppling Spell:

Benefit: The impact of your force spell is strong enough to knock the target prone. If the target takes damage, fails its saving throw, or is moved by your force spell, make a trip check against the target, using your caster level plus your casting ability score bonus (Wisdom for clerics, Intelligence for wizards, and so on). This does not provoke an attack of opportunity. If the check fails, the target cannot attempt to trip you or the force effect in response.

A toppling spell only affects spells with the force descriptor.

She slides her sleeve off her shoulder and down her upper arm contorting her neck to take a look at the tissue. "Well would you look at that! You're quite helpful to have around aren't you?!" She replaces the clothing over her shoulder, stands up, and begins ringing out her clothes close to the ground so as to not make a lot of splashing sounds.

Once the group is all safely across she tries to do a rope trick to unhinge the grappling hook from the other side. "I've found in the past that it's never a good idea to go into an 'adventure' without a rope," she says with a small grin.

Hope that makes sense.

The air in this large room is chilly and stinks of the river, thanks to a huge opening in the floor that drops away to the river shore three feet below. Several pilings emerge from the waters to support the roof eight feet above the floor, with mossy ropes slung between them. In two places, rusty manacles hang from the ropes over the water. Two five-foot-wide walkways cross the hole to the other side of the chamber, where a collection of old cabinets, lockboxes, and piles of clutter are strewn about. Chipped porcelain plates, a cracked goblet, badly rusted silverware, an old wooden shield with a crossbow bolt embedded in it, the odd dinged helm, and other “treasures” litter the floor of this side of the chamber. Three tables heaped with clutter stand amid this mess. In the southwest corner, a wooden door provides access to a walled-off section.

In the pit below is a large alligator that looks both well-fed and extremely cantankerous. His back turned to you and locking a door to a small side room is none other than Gaedren Lamm. He is a jaundiced and bent corpse of a man, his eyes yellowed and skin speckled from age. His left leg has a pronounced limp as he shuffles about. His aim is true and the bolt pierces the gater's hide next to its head. The alligator lets out a violent his and begins thrashing around in the shallow water. Gaedren then crawls back to his feet using the wall for support. Cecil, true to his righteous cause, fires off another spell as Gaedren stands fully (mostly) erect.

    trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Back on yer butt! Also, I am now out of level 1 spells.

Gaedren goes down in a heap of old bones and too tight skin. "I'll feed your brat to Gobblegut when I get my hands on her!"

    Order 1st round

Gamon advances on Gaedren, standing over him with his axe in hand.
Double moving to get next to him, how far down is the crocodile?

You can reach Gobblegut if you're adjacent to him, he has to do something to reach you though.

    Random: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Gobblegut snarls, splashing water all over the planks nearby. He sets his eye on Jolon and attempts to lunge out of the pit for a rage-induced bite.

    Swim: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

    Rage Bite!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Gobblegut manages to pop out of the pit, but only crunches down on the planks at Jolon's feet before sinking back down into the mire.

Jolon ducks away from the caiman's jaws before he advances to help Gamon.

"You won't get a chance if you're in his belly first, Gaedren!"

Double moving to help Gamon grab Gaedren.

Gaedren laughs from his position on the floorboards, "Hah! I've beaten that beast enough it knows not to touch me, I'd like to see you try barbarian"

    Order 2nd round
    Aloysia, Cecil

Aloysia makes a dash for the western part of the room to get out of the way of the croc...

    Acrobatics if required to get past the croc: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

...doing a brief wall run to arc away from any potential jaws that might go after her. She tucks behind the corner and attempts to hide during the fray.

    Stealth if allowed: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

    Perception: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 11 - 4 = 19

Aloysia's maneuver nicely keeps her away from Gobblegut's jaws, but she does not escape the notice of the old man himself. "You should come join me, pull these two off my back and prove yourself!"

    Order 2nd round
    Aloysia, Cecil
    Gaedren -14, prone

Cecil remains at the entrance, clutching the doorframe as he is unsure how to get past the giant croc with the ease that the rest of the group did.

    Concentration: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

And cannot concentrate enough to even get a simple cantrip going.
