Wow... a lot has happened today. and OUCH! As for whay that happened, 1) I forgot I was playing on the low end out of tier.. I am used to being the one that takes care of sentry removal etc. 2) I really was not expecting damage like that!!!
Tag line is updated. Thanks for the healing..
Victoria Hennessee |
Sorry for the delay. On business trip with spotty wifi .
Victoria will move up and cast Hideous Laughter on the burly man.
"Knock knock...who? Just us ."
DC17 will save.
Orik Fistbreaker |
Round 3
Frowning at the scrum around the foe, and not wanting to kill the man if it can be helped, Orik hollers at the man, while stepping up into melee range "Surr'nder, varlet 'r face mae wrath. Aull stave yer wee noggin' right in, 'less yae yiel' nae!"
5' step to cover allies with shield should they get attacked (add +2 to AC as a free action). Then attempt to demoralize using Intimidate. Perhaps that will get him to yield without more subduing. If that fails, Orik will start whacking at him next round.
Intimidate, to demoralize: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
EndlessForms |
For future reference, if someone hasn't posted for 1.5-2 days since the start of that round I usually just put them on delay and skip them as soon as I get a chance to update. But everyone is still here so we're all good!
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Orik's blunt words confuse and frighten the man for a few seconds before Victoria breaks the ice and causes the man to fall to the ground, laughing hysterically.
I'm going to call that out of combat because even if he recovers from the spell he's not stupid enough to keep fighting now.
Awen |
Awen gets up off of the ground, shaken. "My thanks. My actions were rash, thank you for your assistance."
With this, he holds up a wand of CLW. "Anyone willing to help me with this? I can use it, but it tends to fizzle about half the time when I try."
Lucija Lal Rani |
Uh, it shouldn't. You ARE a Ranger, and unless you're one of those Archetypes that loses their magic, it's on your spell list.
Awen |
Nope, Not an archetype.. just the first ranger I have played to make it this high. I stand corrected.
"Blood loss must be making me dizzy.. " Awen says as he starts tapping himself with the wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
EndlessForms |
The man grunts from the ground as the joke begins to lose its humor. "So who are you and what do you want now that you've got me surrounded?" He is breathing quite heavily, having calmed down a bit from his battle-high. "Melnat's certainly not going to be happen when Marla tells him what's gone on out here."
Awen |
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
"We are pathfinders, sent here by the order of the Lord Deverin and the Council of Ushers. Care to tell us what is going on out here?"
Insidion |
"I think we are done using our inside voices..." Insidion sneers at the man.
"Tell us what's going on here, or we'll finish the job we started..."
intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Lucija Lal Rani |
"We have shown you leniency, worm. Do not test us."
aid Insidion's Intimidate - size penalty: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Bazresh Izzakesh |
Baz moves up and sits near the man, laying his scimitar across his lap. "I would rather not be forced to use.....crude methods to elicit answers from you...."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
For the record, Baz is equally equipped in diplomacy.
EndlessForms |
"Whoa! Ok! I can cooperate. Melnat and Alexei are inside though and they know you're coming. Melnat is a gnome, an illusionist. It's all a bit beyond me. Alexei is a sneaky fellow from Irrisen with a habit of lifting more than his share of valuables. Nalme too, a recently hired Shoanti mercenary and ex-gladiator. Shipments from local Thassilonian sites all travel through the Bronze House. Of course, we all do a bit of trading on the side. Is that what you want?"
Lucija Lal Rani |
"This was all a simple misunderstanding. It might be best if your associates were made aware of that fact, as well, so we could do business with them civilly."
Victoria Hennessee |
Tori strides up to join the discussion.
Are they all in that cave up the hill? Any other surprises for us if we go for a visit with your...friends?"
EndlessForms |
"Yeah, they're in the cave. But Marla would've told Melnat how you were attacking me and I don't think there'd be any way to convince Melnat it was a misunderstanding after that."
The city guard, seeing that things are under control, start moving closer to secure the wagons. "You folks might want this," one of them calls to you, pointing out a journal marked as the dig site record.
Lucija Lal Rani |
Naghamadi smiles a terrifying (without meaning to be) smile. "Ah, so be it then. Are your associates inebriates as well? I've rather got my mouth set for beer-basted meat, now...."
Orik Fistbreaker |
Orik relieves the guardsman of the journal, and knowing the reading isn't his best skill hands it over toe the gnome summoner. "What's it sae, lassie? Som'thin' incriminatin', aull 'xpect."
He scratches his beard while waiting to hear about the journal and looks through the wagon's contents.
Anything else of immediate use in the wagons? Or just someone else's valuables?
Lucija Lal Rani |
Lucija takes the journal and looks through it.
What's it sae, DM?
Awen |
"Well, how about you come with us to help convince Melnat that this was a misunderstanding?" Awen says to the man.
Victoria Hennessee |
Victoria will smile back at the guards as well to make sure they are not acting suspicious.
"Thank you very much for finding the book, officers. We appreciate your dedication to serving the citizens."
EndlessForms |
"The lord Cayden doesn't take kindly to such jesting," the man directs at Naghamadi. "I don't suppose I have a choice if you drag me along, huh?" he says to the others.
The journal seems to be Melnat's coded record of this dig site. Linguistics to decipher with a +5 because you speak Gnome. However, as Lucija flips through it, she discovers to her dismay that it is trapped....
DC 20 Fort save or turn into a mindless, inert statue! (flesh to stone)
Lucija Lal Rani |
Linguistics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Lamashtu help me: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Lucija makes a very pretty, and for a gnome, imposing, statue.
Well. Wouldja believe this is the closest I've come to actually dying in Pathfinder? Good thing we're in a well-established city where someone can be found who knows stone to flesh...right?
Awen |
As their companion turns to stone, Awen jumps back in alarm "By the gods!! What devilry is this??"
Victoria Hennessee |
"Lucija! What is happening?!! ."
Tori will try to help her friend in vain.
"Undoing magic like this is beyond my skill. Unless any of you others can undo it, we must return to the lodge or find a wizard like Aram Zey ."
Awen |
I realize that time is of the essence, but is there a way to send for a wizard or something so that Lucija is not completely out?
EndlessForms |
Does anyone know sending or have an item with a similar ability (bird token or the like)? Unless one of you can fix her now, it probably would not be wise to abandon this place when Melnat et al know that you are here. As soon as you leave they would flee. However, remember that this is just the excavation site; once you find the evidence etc that you need here you will have to go elsewhere to raid the Aspis headquarters and that will require going back to the city. So Lucija wouldn't be out for the whole scenario, but maybe for the next encounter with Melnat.
Awen |
"If we had some time, I could prepare a spell that could send a message, but alas, I did not anticipate this need.."
EndlessForms |
Deciding that it would be best to push on and accost Melnat and the other relic thieves, you make for the tunnel ahead. The floor of the opulent marble chamber within is covered with a board fit for a dragon; piles of coins and gems hold priceless works of art aloft. Intricate tapestries, sculptures, and illuminated manuscripts are haphazardly scattered atop the rest of the hoard. A sculpture in the southwest corner of a bull carrying a glowing green orb towers over the rest of the room.
As you enter, a 20-foot-tall humanoid form made of gold and stone rises from the floor. In a booming voice it speaks.
+15 if you know Thassilonian:
Awen |
I only have a +5, and no Thassilonian.. no chance there.
Awen looks at the members of his party.. "ummm... Any of yall get that? and then wracks his brain trying ot figure out what he is looking at.
Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Victoria Hennessee |
unfortunately, no sending spell or item for Tori. Not even a familiar.
She casts detect magic and concentrates on speaking statue.
Lucija Lal Rani |
Could you have asked the city guards that were there to send for someone? It's kind of their fault for giving us that book, after all...:P
Orik Fistbreaker |
Could you have asked the city guards that were there to send for someone? It's kind of their fault for giving us that book, after all...:P
I feel kinda bad handing it over to you without reading it first, but that's the nature of my character. I am sure the GM was smiling the whole time...
Victoria Hennessee |
If the guards were still around when the book was read, Tori definitely would have asked them to send a wizard to help Lucija. Also, is your Eidolon dismissed when you turn to stone? If not, could we send it to get aid for her?
Lucija Lal Rani |
I feel kinda bad handing it over to you without reading it first, but that's the nature of my character. I am sure the GM was smiling the whole time...
Yeah, and it's the nature of my character to read magical books regardless of any danger, so DO NOT feel bad. She might have even demanded a look at it if you didn't just hand it to her.
If I'm unconscious (or even asleep), Naghamadi disappears, so he's no help until I am.
EndlessForms |
The guards could have gone back to find a wizard but it still probably isn't wise to wait around while the Aspis know you are out there. The trap is designed to take someone out of this next encounter and it did exactly that. Without a stone to flesh spell handy it's really hard to deal with immediately.
1d20 ⇒ 6
The statue does not seem satisfied with Orik's answer and raises its arms to strike.
You are up! Go!
Awen |
As the statue begins to attack, Awen grabs his bow and looses an arrow at it.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
+1/+1 if the thing is within 30'. Not sure where the statue is on the map..
Victoria Hennessee |
Not sure about the statue being so tall and so close, Victoria will cast invisibility upon herself and move further into the room.
Do the missiles magic or otherwise appear to hurt it?
Orik Fistbreaker |
Unlimbering his axe, and hefting his shield, Orik dutifully steps to the forefront, placing Awen and Insidion behind his shield (can give a +2 shield bonus if you are adjacent to me), he takes a a crack at the creature.
Orik axe attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Dmg, if hit: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Axe is both adamantine and magical, if it makes a difference for DR etc
EndlessForms |
3d20 ⇒ (17, 8, 8) = 33
Insidion and Orik are quite convinced that their attacks have hurt the statue but Awen watches as his arrow sails right through. To Awen, the statue now looks quite transparent and it is apparent to him that it is an illusion.
Awen |
"Stop.. its an illusion! Its just a trick." Awen carefully looks around the room, arrow still drawn just in case.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
EndlessForms |
Upon closer inspection, not only is the construct an illusion but much of the treasure in this room is also illusory. You do, however, find a pouch with a dusty rose prism ioun stone in a concealing pocket of the pouch.
Awen |
If none of the frint liners want it, I will take it.. but I agree they should get first dibs.
