A halfling on mule-back considers the street before him, and the travelers in kind. Various weapons, spears, and a lance stick out from a green traveling cloak that he is wearing, and from behind a large backpack. The beast is loaded down with climbing gear, jugs, ropes, and other tools.

"Hail!" he says, in a deep voice with a Vudrani accent. "I couldn't help hearing. It's been a long trip from Jalmeray, and frankly it is good to see people again. Can I join you?"

His amber eyes are capped by thick eyebrows, and his hair is brown and short, his beard trimmed neatly. A sleight widow's peak has begun. His face is square, his nose wide with a lion's bridge.

"Isso hot here..." Xanko says to no one in particular as he meanders towards the destination provided. Then he notices who gave him the info and he smiles right up. "Of course I would luv it if you would join me." he says to the pirate queen.
Just as he is about to shoo off the pesky child that seems to be following him Xanko turns to see that it is in fact a halfling.... who wants to join... "Fine.... you can come too... we can all go until someone fetches us..."

Antal stops as the others enter the Ugly Pelican. He stashes his shield in a special loop that secures it against his pack. Hopping down from the mount is a bit of a feat for the 3 foot 3 halfling. His traveler's boots land solidly in the muck left from yesterday's rain.

"Cause a fuss if anyone messes with you" he says to Harmony the mule and feeds her some oats from the saddlebag near him. "Not too much or you'll get fat. Best graze on that grass." He sends a glance up and down the street, and then climbs the steps. Pushes the door open wide and enters the tavern, long shadow into the interior.

To Vera, "Ship life would make me crazy, I think. Even the short trip from Jalmeray to Geb was harrowing" he says, shuddering. "At least tombs are a real grave, not just a watery one."

He looks for a table, and eyes the gleaming bottles behind the bar. His hand shakes a little, but he forces a smile. Bit of sweat on his forehead, though it's cool inside the building.

Leafy Leshy Cavalier Ire of the Storm Campaign

The party gets comfortable hanging out in the Ugly Pelican, a sailor's bar near the docks of Eleder, which is the capital city of Sargava.

It is here that they wait with anticipation for the arrival of their ship, the Kaava Cutter. It is a decent sized ship, designed to crawl up and down the coast lines, but not really suited for life out in the nearby infamously choppy seas generated by the Eye of Abendego.

This is not the Shackles, the storms here are bad but the place is not constantly bombarded by rain. In fact, since arriving weather has been humid for sure, but relatively dry with few clouds in the Sky.

The bar is packed with sailor's and the bartender has a big board with the local ships that are scheduled to be in port/boarding/leaving port.

You notice that you have time for just a single drink before the ship begins to board for your weeklong journey down the coast line. For the colonists among you, this is a moment you have been anticipating for some time, the opportunity you have saved money to pursue. For the Pathfinders, this is probably something of a shock, but it appears that your venture captain has no plans to actually brief you. You have only the letter describing your mission the gist of which is written in the Discussion tab to go off of.

Soon the ship fills up. The majority of the inhabitants are young men, most of who have just a single bag of clothing and perhaps a set of tools. There are some more colorful characters as well.

You of course notice each other:
A woman sailor with the tricorn and the holy symbol of Cayden who appears to not be working on this voyage, at least not officially
A local looking elf woman, perhaps Ekujae, accompanied by a feathered dinosaur
A halfling bearing a Jalmerayan accent and weighed down by a veritable armory of weapons
A Varisian man with sword and drink in hand, clearly enjoying himself and perhaps not even fully aware of his surroundings even at noontime
An elven woman bearing Chelish fashions and perhaps a bit of a seductive swagger
and to your surprise even the halfling performer on stage at the tavern comes with to answer the call.

Those of you who are pathfinders probably even eventually spot each other's wayfinders, and after a quick exchange of basic information realize you are all here on the same job.

Aside from all of you, there are some other notables on this ship aside from your typical downtrodden colonists looking for a better life.

There is a young man, no more than 15 years old and as round as he is tall sits surrounded by guards. He looks uneasy and refuses to move too far away from a stack of crates in the hold with the symbol of a minor Sargavan noble house stamped on it.

There is a man dressed in a slick black suit, despite the weather, with a team of 6 pretty rough and buff looking men who wear worker's clothing. You can overhear them loudly talking about their new mining business.

A beautiful elven woman appears on deck every day with painting easel propped against the side of the ship and constantly being shunted out of the way by the working sailors. She wears a radiant red dress every single day and seems to be off in her own little world.

And, perhaps standing out more to Mak'da and Antal than the rest, is a dark skinned woman who looks to be very much at peace with this sort of journey, dressed in the practical green and brown garb of a guide, with feet wrapped in comfortable looking sheepskin leather and calluses on her exposed toes and hands that betray her profession. She can occasionally be found making use of the public spaces to unfurl some maps as she uses surveyor's tools to draw on blank regions of the map.

The weather is calm, if a bit overcast as you make your way to the south.

Sorry to cut off the tavern scene, but what I would like is for everyone to give me a sort of roleplayed introduction of their character if you haven't already and to describe how you spend your time on this weeklong ship voyage. Additionally, if you wish to do anything on the ship or speak to anyone you can do that as well.

Surrounded by creaking boards and in among other pack animals Antal begins to give Harmony some much needed training. "Listen," he says to her in Vudrani, "You're going to need to follow me closely. It won't always be serene jungle paths, and I need you safe." He places a hand on her bridle and gives it an example tug. "This will be for when I need you to heel."

He spends several hours a day training the stubborn but beautiful animal. Outside of this time (that goes by too quickly), he will spent part of his time getting to know the party. Antal would also like to ask where the mining operation is going to be set up, and where the guide is charting.

Not much of a social type, once the discussions are done he will sharpen and oil his weapons, tighten the straps on his gear, and see about looking at some maps of where they are going.

Before sleep he will meditate, seated on rocking planks and wish he was in a grave instead.

What am I getting myself into? Irori guide me in your mission, and get us back to dry land.

His fingers twitch at times, as though reaching for something.

Antal will spend some time on deck to see if he can read the weather patterns, and predict whether it will rain or be clear upon the morrow.

Standing not more than three feet tall, the halfling entertainer seems to both blend in and stand out all at the same time. Her straight brown hair is cut short, and held back from her face by a simple headband. Her cloak is patched and colorful, in the traditional style of a traveling performer- and yet, the cut and style seem somewhat foreign. A passing breeze flurls the outer jacket, exposing her traveling clothes and their notably eastern style.

The halfing has a flair for the dramatic, and it doesn't take long before everyone on the Kaava knows Arisira. Her laughter is common-place throughout the ship and she is often found telling some grand story or crafting a simple joke. She focuses much of her attention on the colonist families with children; playing them in childhood games or enchanting them with simple (or not so simple) magic tricks.

Throughout the travel she is careful to meet each and every person on the ship. Hidden behind epic adventures and corny puns, Arisira is slowly collecting information and personal details about her traveling companions; like why they are seeking Pridon's Hearth (or what they are running from). You see, the pathfinders have asked her to use her skills for the sake of establishing a new outpost in Pridon, and that mission starts now...

Vera spends her week attempting her best to not work, but several times a day she just can't help herself. She'll grab some rigging or move some rope that's in the way. When she's not making sure the ship is running correctly, she spends time patching up the inevitable injuries that happen on a ship.

She'll spend her evenings listening to Arisira perform, and talking to the other colonists. She takes time to meet everyone on the ship, and give them the blessing of Cayden. She shows the birthmark on her lower left arm, and explains that it is her holy symbol.

Vera makes sure she has a chance to talk to the guide. "What are you planning on doing in Pridon's Hearth? I'm a colonist myself. I'm looking for a new home base. One that I can sail in and out of. Have you been there before?"

A few weeks ago Xanko had just finished his confirmation mission for joining the Society and was out celebrating, maybe a tad too much. He spent his monies on wine and women and slept throughout the days. One particular night at a bawdy tavern Xanko came across an acquaintance of his, a rough Ulfen man named Einarr. The two drank and feasted and gambled. Einarr had a mission to go south, but being an Ulfen, the man detested the heat. He bet Xanko the mission letter against 50 gold that Xanko could not in his inebriated state balance a chair on one leg and drink a tankard of ale while standing on it. Not one to back down from a friendly challenge such as that Xanko tried the challenge... and lost. But he did manage to finish the tankard in one gulp. The Varisian awoke the next morning with the letter in his hands down by the docks as the ship was getting ready to leave port. Xanko grabbed his gear and boarded the vessel to do the job. At least Einarr had restocked the Varisians flask and waterskin. It was a long journey that Xanko spent talking to the ladies, and drinking, and losing at cards, and dancing, and eating a bit, and drinking, and being rejected by some of the ladies and generally making quite a fool of himself at times. Soon the vessel arrived at its destination and the young man is eager to get the job done as best he can, and then return home to his favorite tavern in Absalom- The Wicked Wench (named after a sweet ale that leaves you with a killer headache in the morrow). He may have read the letter... maybe.. actually probably forgot to. Whatever- the other Pathfinders will tell him what to do and who to do it to.

Mak'da is a tall, well built ekujae half elf. She has been based in the Grand Lodge for the last several months, teaching what she knows of the Vanji River and the wider Mwangi Expanse to new pathfinders due to be sent to the region. On the ship she largely keeps to herself, preferring to sit at the prow and feel the splash of the waves on her skin. Her companion, T'Krit, a small brightly feathered dinosaur, is the opposite constantly poking into every part of the ship. He endears himself to the crew by hunting down every rat which comes within reach of his talons.

Mak'da wakes early every morning and exercises on the deck of the ship to keep herself in shape and spends her days chatting with the crew. She pays particular attention to the helmsman, studying the sea charts and coastal maps, pointing out areas for updating. She shows particular interest to the woman with the surveying tools and maps and offers to help her with her work.

If asked she says that she is returning to the Expanse to visit her family once more and report back on their work with the Society.

Shen is usually wearing alluring clothing that underlines her attractive physique although you notice quite fast that her presence does neither seems pleasant nor enjoyable.

Initial conversations reveal that Shen is originally from Cheliax but has been living in Sargava for a couple of years now.

The first feeling of aversion that you had when you were interacting with her does not really subside but you have the feeling that Shen is a strong woman that hides her insecurity through an arrogant and aloof attitude.

Similar to Mak'da she keeps to herself and spends much of her time on deck reading and observing the environment and the people on board.

He also seems to have almost 0 chill, and looks unable to relax even as he is surrounded by what appear to be his employees. He definitely is a bit wigged out by you.

Mak'da becomes quite the hit with the crewmen of the boat for keeping them free of rats, though perhaps not the hit that the free entertainment for all that Arisira is using to get over with the crew. Vera too is able to become popular with the sailor's her skill with rigging earning her some spare coin overall collection of a week's salary of 15 gold pieces

The two of them attempt to approach the guide at roughly the same time. As you get closer you can see clearly that she had reached her middle-aged years, her eyes marked with the beginnings of crow's feat and a curly white hair or two springing up in her otherwise coarse black mane. My name is Umuzu, of the Zenj tribe in the Mwangi. Pridon's Hearth is going to be my new base of operations for my business as a guide, but this will be my first time there. With a wistful sigh she begins to show you her planned route into a jungle area, labeled the Laughing Jungle.

With this new outpost this far south there are expeditions into previously untouched lands underway and someone of my skills navigating the the Vanji and the deep bogs of the Mwangi Jungles is in high demand. A lot of coin to be made here. I actually already have my first expedition all worked out, a trip aboard a vessel called the Cobalt Eye. Apparently the colony wants the area mapped for purposes of eventual expansion.

She nods knowingly at Mak'da and notes the sailing skills of Vera I take it that is what is bringing you south too? I could put in a good word for the next expedition leaving town. Let's just try to work together, no need to be at odds.

She finally looks at Mak'da Are you Zenj too?

Xanko finds himself chilled out and perhaps nursing off a bit of hangover on the ship's deck and is able to observe and perhaps even flirt with the artist just a bit. She appears to be painting landscapes of the Sargavan Coast on this beautiful sunny journey. He is able to pick up her name - Annabella Tulia and is able to listen to her as she paints, this appears to be some kind of Divine Obedience to Shelyn, as after an hour or so of the painting each day she takes on a bit of a divine glow, kind and creative. She even splashes some paint on Xanko's nose after an unsuccessful attempt to flirt with her in a kind and playful way. She has an air of optimism about her for certain.

---

Arisira finds out PLENTY of information from the sailors and the families on board about Pridon's Hearth and about the other passengers. She is gifted tips all throughout the week and earns herself a solid 20 gold pieces .
- Apparently the rotund young man is named Galio Menius, and he is the 2nd son of a noble from Eleder. Standing not to inheirt any land, word is he took out a huge loan to strike out on his own as a Papaya farmer near Pridon's Hearth.
- Mr. Blackwell is the man in the suit. He and his prospecting crew mostly keep to themselves and the other passengers don't know much about them. They seem to speak to each other in some sort of odd cant.
- Most don't know much about the situation on the ground Pridon's Hearth. Apparently this is the 2nd wave of colonists settling there, so much of the construction and basic needs are already being met. Most of these people are going to work and perhaps claim a small acreage for their families. Most are local garundi ethnicities with only a small smattering of Chelish descended people on board, which causes the party to stick out a bit.
- It seems part of the colonization contract they each signed is that every able bodied man and woman has to spend at least part of their time serving in the defense force of the city, some sort of large fort outside of town designed to defend against tribal incursions from nearby potentially hostile hostile human, Song'o halfling, boggard, lizardfolk, and grippli tribes.

Antal, seeing the guide already busy speaking with two other people, approaches the very well dressed Mr. Blackwell. The man puts on a smug face and explains Why all over. There is plenty of mineral wealth to be found all over the Kaava lands, and lucky for me, no one else has laid much of claim to the lands down here yet. We feel very confident we are going to be rich.

Antal gets the distinct impression that Blackwell is holding something back, some unknown source for his confidence. He also gives off the vibe...that the man may be a bit dangerous. Definitely not a soft business man. The man carries himself like someone who has seen combat.

Beyond that, Antal is very much able to enjoy his time training his mule. Antal is able to observe the weath patterns on shipboard. He thinks a small, mild storm system may be off a bit and rolling in. Nothing too bad - he expects it might drizzle in a day or two.

Antal approaches Shen after the journey begins "I too am a member of the scarab sages." he reveals. "If I may be direct, where do you mean to search first for the lost jewels? I was not told much beyond our simple orders, and was hoping you know more."

The where is more important than the why.

Mr. Blackwell wrote:

"Confidence in oneself is the first step on the path to perfection." he says warmly, ignoring the perceived threat of the man. "And even better when that confidence is shared with others." he pauses, noting that the man is holding something back. "But how can you be so sure? What if this is just a wasted journey? Your backers will surely be interested in your progress."

He smiles, fearless.

Antal will bring what he learns back to the others he has met so far, even the drunkard and his new friend from the scarab sages.

Assuming nothing else occurs, with some relief he continues his teaching of Harmony. After, when she has learned enough he is sure to draw careful portions of feed from her packs for her. He replenishes them from the onboard stores. Antal also smuggles her an apple or two, since mules (like horses) are delighted by the crunchy fruit. If there are other animals onboard, he will assist the crew in their care before returning to the fresh air above.

At dusk the ranger meditates and watches the skies, feeling the first drops of rain that he predicted from the previous day.

Irori I feel certain that this path was the right one. Let my weakness become a weapon in your service. He prays in a low voice.

Antal will share in his meditation with others that wish to join him, and will keep an eye on the top deck and the surrounding seas until he feels it is time to rest.

Mak'da looks over the maps which Umuzu is preparing. No, I am of the Balun tribe, our village Jalunth sits on the Vanji river. My people have little love of outsiders but we are changing...slowly. Mak'da pauses, clearly uncertain if she should say more. Apparently making up her mind she says, the Pathfinders recently helped my people deal with a great evil in our homeland, the elders decided we should see if they could be trusted. I and my sister were chosen to learn more from them. It has been...difficult and I am glad to be returning home for a little while.

She looks over more of the maps. I wish you good luck in Pridons Hearth, these people will need your skills, they do not understand what lies in the jungle. She glances around at the various passengers, few of these people have the strength to survive its challenge. Take care you are not lost with them.

The performer continues to bounce around from deck to deck; tumbling, singing, story telling. She carries no wayfinde and otherwise provides no evidence that she is anything other than a traveling entertainer. Her goal is the build good will in Pridon's Hearth- and she would rather others think of her as fun-loving performer first and Pathfinder second.

"I have the feeling this is going to be quite the adventure. Certainly better than sitting around in boring old Absalom where nothing ever happens!". The halfling's face lights up when speculating about what lies ahead and her pace borderlines unintelligible. "Sure, all the great stories START in absalom, but the really exciting parts are all off somewhere. Just think! We could be the first pathfinder's to ever report from this far south! The VC didn't give me much direction though... just told me to "Go gettem'. She pauses to take her first breath of the conversation before continuing on excitedly. "Are you here for the same reasons? Or for something else? Are YOU going to help me start a lodge here?! That would be great, getting to work with a bunch more pathfinders!"

----------------
Xanko
Try as she might, the halfling struggles to get anywhere with in her conversations with the clearly pious and devoted Cayden Cailean follower. Instead, she takes the opportunity to mess around with the poor drunk adventurer. Small, mischievous things- like moving objects when he isn't looking, misdirecting his attention, and generally confounding the human.

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

It isn't until the third or forth day, while engaging in the usual routine of moving the contents of his pockets from one place to another while the children on the boat laugh, she discovers his wayfinder. Now this is an interesting development. I guess they really are letting anyone into the pathfinders now-a-days. I wonder what he did to get banished from Absalom. Doesn't strike me as the rural type.

She continues her routine, but now intentionally looking for a moment to engage Xanko in sober conversation.

-----------------
Mak'da
Immediately after boarding, Arisira recognizes Mak'da from her lectures in Absalom. While quite dry and academic, it was those talks that settled for the Hafling her current course- South.

While it is clear that Mak'da doesn't have a full appreciation of her antics, Arisira does find amusement from her interactions with the feathered creature. Its playful nature fits in well with her mischievousness, especially when it comes to tormenting Xanko.

On day 4 of the journey, Arisira introduces herself to Mak'da. She is intentionally reserved (for her) in an effort to not annoy the stoic woman, whom she holds in high regard.

"You probably don't know me, but I remember you. I was in your lecture series about the Mwangi Expanse... it's what inspired me to take on this task! All of your stories about spirits, jungles, danger- I knew I just had to come and be a part of it all! I mean- your stories were pretty dry, if I do say so myself... but with a little bit of flair I bet you could make one heck of a story!". As she talks, it is impossible for her to hide her excitement. The energy and pace continue to quicken until she catches herself. She takes a deep breath, and then continues on at a (somewhat) more reasonable speed.

"Did the Venture-Captain send you here to start a lodge in Pridon's Hearth too? It really is an honor to be asked, with me being so new and all. I never thought I would be be here with such an expert though, it really is great that..." as she continues on about how exciting everything is to her.

--------------------
Shen
Despite her best efforts, things never really seem to click with Shen. Sure, she is pretty, but never seem to have the time or interest in the gregarious halfling. All the more surprising then was the discovery that she was in fact a Pathfinder and not a stuck up noblewoman as Arisira had originally assumed.

Well, aint that a kick in the pants. Now I HAVE to like her...

Trying again, Arisira attempts to engage the woman about her role in the Pathfinders. "What role did the Venture-Captain give you? I am here to make friends! The Captain told me that it might be hard to get buy in, and that a friendly face goes a long way." She smiles an over-the-top smile. "Is this your first time in the South?"

How is she going to explore a jungle dressed like that!

KAAVA CUTTER EXTERIOR, NIGHT

Antal places a lit candle in his hooded lantern, blowing lightly to get the wick thoroughly lit. He places the lantern on the swaying deck next to him and listens.

She pauses to take her first breath of the conversation before continuing on excitedly. "Are you here for the same reasons? Or for something else? Are YOU going to help me start a lodge here?! That would be great, getting to work with a bunch more pathfinders!"

Antal gives the fellow halfling all of the time she needs, seeming unhurried and patient among the flurry of questions. He seems to almost map them out, and his eyes flick from one topic to another like trails on an unfurled map.

"Adventure, yes I would say that is the main goal for being here. That and my employment, of course. I have a feeling my role is much more specialized than the others, tracker and guide, as well as protection." He considers her point about the Venture Captain's instructions and nods agreement. "We seem to have a great deal of discretion."

He scratches his beard, wishing he had thought to pick up a razor. A knife will have to do.

"I search for the lost scarab jewels primarily," he explains. "Likely they will be hidden in a tomb or ruin, for which I have yet to find the destination. The temple of Irori that I have travelled from would also like me to disrupt any obvious treasure-hunting groups if I have the chance. An odd job for a tomb-raider, but my devotion is a higher calling.

He takes in the wind and the sky before continuing his talk. "I see good diversity among the pathfinders on this ship, and a lodge should be our first order of business. I think I also heard the Mwangi one talking about a lizardman problem."

And now, the most important piece.

"I would prefer to not fight or cause disruptions among the locals against other tribes or races, but the defence of the settlement would likely draw me in."

I would predict that she also would not seek out violence for its own sake. But what of the others? Is there really going to be a conflict where we are going? Of course the natural world is always in conflict. Each day animals hunt or are hunted. Predator and prey, each needing to run to survive. Why should we humanoid races be any different?

One more big wall of text...

Vera

Throughout the trip Arisira manages to keep some semblance of a routine. She ends each of her evenings with some sort of performance on the main deck, as the sun sets. Sometimes the crowd swelled to 20-30 people while others it was just a few- but the blonde sailor was always there.

One of the evenings, after the others colonists headed back to their cabins, Arisira approaches the sailor, jumping up on the bench next to her.

"The name is Arisira, and I can tell that you have EXCELLENT taste in entertainment. Either that, or you don't have a lot of options, but I'll just believe the former!" she says, laughing. She continues to make small talk, in her excited and optimistic way. "I bet you have seen a lot of really cool stuff in your travels- maybe even ballad worthy?" she asks hopefully. "What brings you here? Obviously you are a sailor- but aren't on the employ with this ship. Must be hard being around what you love. I can't sit in a common room without wanting to be earning a bit of coin, ya know. What is it that are looking to find in Pridon's Hearth? There's not much of a port there- if I memory serves me right"

--------
Galio, for all of his guards and pomp, Arisira sees him for the kid that he actually is. Never long conversations, she attempts to hear more about what his plans are in Pridon's Hearth. The conversation shifts to the Papaya farm: "Thats great, I love a good fresh Papaya! Do you already have a plantation, or are you searching? I could help you negotiate if you want! I don't know if you have noticed, but people seem to like me!" Despite her appearance, her questions and responses are intentionally directed at discovering more information about the passengers. She is looking specifically for his funding source/support network. Also trying to learn if there is an established nobility in the new colony.

Mr Blackwell is a completely different challenge. Despite her best efforts, she never really feels like he takes any enjoyment from her stories, music, or practical jokes. Conversation with him is tight lipped, but he tries anyways.

"Mining, huh? The stories talk about the gold and minerals in The Expanse! Oh yea, they almost always end badly. I mean, you have plenty of help here it seems- but still... between the lizard folks, and carniverous plants, and..." as she continues on. "Ah yes, the scarab jewels- the great treasure lost by the Osirians. Do you really think they made it this far south? I have only heard whispers about them myself- I am not even sure I would notice them if I had them in my pocket!" There is a quick flourish of her hand, and a emerald colored gem seemingly appears from nowhere. "That reminds me, is this one of them?"- she laughs as another flick of the wrist causes the gem to vanish again.

Better not make too much jest, those Scarab Sage's really are convinced the jewels exist. I have heard a number of tall tales- but those jewels are among the tallest

She continues on in a rare moment of seriousness. "Sorry Antal... too much entertaining children for my own good. They just love that one! It gets tough to turn it off sometimes, is all. Don't mean to make light of the jewels. The pathfinder that finally recovers them might well make it all the way to the Starstone! What a story that would be... ". She trails off, hopeful that her fellow halfing is accepting of her apology.

She returns back to the topic at hand. "Even if it only provides us a little comfort and a few recruits, a lodge would be a great advancement. I, too, am surprised by the number and.... variety... of the pathfinders on this assignment. I still haven't quite figured out what the Venture Captain was thinking when he picked all of us- but I guess thats why he is the Captain and I am just a tavern entertainer." Her tone remains solemn and pensive. "I was raised on adventure stories, and I am pleased as a camel in an oasis to be a part of one, a BIG one- but part of me knows it's not gonna be easy. Heck, even exploring through an old fort in Absalom was dangerous enough- and now here I am halfway around the world. Makes you think doesn't it? Anyways, I think we just do the best with what we got- and the major decisions will make themselves. If the stories are true though, I am sure we will have to defend ourselves sooner or later." A quick flash of stray light betrays a small blade flipping into view and disappearing again. "I just hope that I have the strength for it when it comes... "

This is actually my first time leaving Eleder - but I am pursuing my fortunes. I am the second son of my family. I stand to inherit nothing. Rather than enter the Church of Asmodeus You see him visibly wince at the idea but then try to cover. I took out a loan and was given a land grant outside Pridon's Hearth. Now that Pridon is dead the plots of land are a bit more openly distributed and the leadership structure is in flux...dad thought maybe this was a good opportunity but if I don't produce He visibly blanches at the thought.

Mr. Blackwell mostly gives Arisira the run around. That would be telling, wouldn't it. You're a bit nosy ain't ya? But you get the distinct impression you won't be getting much more out of him - he's now wary of you.

Arisira listens to Mak'da respectfully and with the reverence given to someone whom you respect. I can't believe I am on the same ship and going to be sharing the same lodge as her!

However, as Mak'da speaks, Arisira's resolve hardens. I know I am a little, but I have a strength that none of them see... yet. Nodding her head in understanding throughout , Arisira answers Mak'da's question about her ferocity:

A dagger, previously unseen, leaps from her hand and sticks, trembling, into the closest door frame- catching a nearby sailor completely off guard. The halfling walks over, grabs the dagger, and before she turns back it is already hidden somewhere somewhere in the folds of her cloak.

Responding to Verna, the halfing simply smiles. "Why? I am here for the adventure and glory! If you want to make a name for yourself, you can't do it where everyone else is- you have to go someplace new! The jungle, the legends, the native religions: all of this will make for some very excellent stories when I return."

----------
"Antal- are you asking if I would aid you on an epic adventure? One that would result in ballads, literary epics, and immortality?" There is a long, purposeful pause. "I'll have to think about it.... Her face betrays her, and soon she hardly holds back the laugh at her own joke.

She thinks about his question: "If I can't answer adventure- than I am not sure how to respond. It is the adventure, but adventure is how you put your mark on the history and legends of Golarian. I think to do that, you must go where others have not- and this is it. And so I am here-- to leave my mark... I want the world to be different because of something I did. I want my stories to inspire children the same way the stories of ancient Kelesh inspired me."

You may get your wish soon enough. But remember that in this world, we gain our desires only briefly and then they are always dashed away.

"Harmony"

Harmony watches the back of the green clad short one as he walks away. She idly munches on some hay, smelling the other animals around her. Mice skitter, and she ignores them. She stomps her hooves and watches.

"Heel" goes through her mind, now just barely finding purchase. She stops, backs up a pace, trying out the idea again.

Motioning over to Harmony, Xanko tells his little friend "You know, that isn't a real horse. Just saying." After a little banter with the man Xanko gets a tad serious and asks bluntly "Say, are you and Arisira a couple? Just curious with you both being half-folk. OK if you are. No need to hide it. Lots of Pathfinders shack up. I've had to refuse a few myself. I don't want to get too attached at an early age." he says and then takes a big gulp from his tankard. "I think the Pirate Queen likes me. She keeps looking over in my direction. The flirt." he adds and then finishes his drink and stands up to get another. "A word to the wise if you are making a play for Arisira, I notice some things of mine get moved around when she is near. That one has light fingers, she may steal your heart." he winks at Antal and then walks over to the bar to refill his cup.

To Arisira: "Adventure and glory are two good reasons to go on a trip like this. You have skill at entertaining a crowd. Finding your place shouldn't be too hard. It's like that as a cleric. I can move from place to place making a living, but I'm really called to the sea." She gives the woman a conspiratorial look. "I've even been a pirate a time or two."

"Xanko you take your worship of Cayden too seriously. There is a line you know." She gives him a wink.

When Vera shows Shen her birthmark it is quite obvious that Shen looks at it with mixed feelings of wonder, disgust and desire at the same time "You ... you have that, too? Were you cursed with this mark and left in front of a tavern to be raised by a cleric? Were you fed with the doctrines of Cayden's faith every day? Were you forced to believe in something that was pushed into your being? I know this story well, trust me." Shen shouts out in contempt for a moment not caring what the other guests might be thinking.

Shen raises the sleeve of her fine blue dress and shows Vera the birthmark on her right arm that resembles the holy symbol of Calistria.

Suddenly, Shen looks at her birthmark and sheds a tear.

Antal approaches Shen after the journey begins "I too am a member of the scarab sages." he reveals. "If I may be direct, where do you mean to search first for the lost jewels? I was not told much beyond our simple orders, and was hoping you know more."

The where is more important than the why.

Shen looks at the able-bodied halfling with some suspicion and it shows in her body language "I heard that you were called Antal. As you claim to be a Pathfinder ... and I tend to believe sli ... ehh ... halfings, I will allow you to enjoy my presence."

She waits a moment to observe him and his many weapons again in more detail and continues "I want to make clear here and now that I do not care about any goal that any central decision making body in this faction of ours might have. I care about my goals. I care about my desires. And I enjoy knowledge, lore and the freedom to explore what I deem as priority for myself. Therefore, I belong to the Scarab Sages. And therefore I am on this mission." she says with a stern look.

She looks at the wild scenery in front of them and points at the unknown wilderness "Do you really believe a woman of my station and skill set would be here in the middle of nowhere? No, I escaped the rules and the never-ending tasks that you petty Pathfinders are facing every day by using all my power and influence to get to the end of the world where I could make the decisions to shape my own path. I you want to continue to follow orders ... please do so on your own." she says with a raised eyebrow.

After seeing the man observe her Shen approaches the noble.

"Hello dear noble with difficulties to relax. I see that you become deliriously excited every time you see me. In all seriousness, I can assure you that I will not have any romantic interest in you today or tomorrow. But if my presence is of any benefit to calm you I would be willing to exchange time spent with you - without any touching - for room and board in your home. I will not be nice to you but I will endure you - I promise you that." Shen says with a calm voice and a genuine smile.

Your station is not apparent to me, nor does it matter." he considers her opposing views, and says "You say you serve the scarab sages, but then say you serve no one. Surely at some point you will need to make a decision?"

If she was a skittish animal, I think I would offer her a carrot or an apple at this point. What is she so afraid of that she lashes out?

Trying again, Arisira attempts to engage the woman about her role in the Pathfinders. "What role did the Venture-Captain give you? I am here to make friends! The Captain told me that it might be hard to get buy in, and that a friendly face goes a long way." She smiles an over-the-top smile. "Is this your first time in the South?"

Shen is slightly amused and also excited that the artist has sought her out "First of all I want to congratulate you. Your presence is delightful and I like your performance very much. Nonetheless, I have to correct you dear Arisira. For what reason would you believe that the Venture-Captain gave me - I mean me - a role?!?" and she laughs with a cheerful voice and shakes her head.

"No, of course I chose this mission. After my graduation the Venture-Captain told me to fetch X and I said no. He asked me to go to Y and I said no. He pleaded me to talk to Z and I said no. Well, after he and I got into a heated argument and some shouting took place we agreed to place me somewhere else ... somewhere we would not go on each others' nerves and I could do what I want." Shen says smiling.

"Well, to be honest I lived in Sargava already a couple of years before becoming a Pathfinder and thus it was not so dumb of him to propose to me to be exploring here. But I will just see what happens. I do not plan much. Boring you know." she sighs.

"So you really received a mission? Like orders? That is outrageous, don't you think!" Shen says and she is clearly not amused.

Shen looks at Antal apologetically and he notices that signs of insecurity are clearly visible. "I ... I am sorry! I do not have any prejudices! I promise! This is just an old habbit as you were almost sent to prison if you did not treat Halflings poorly in Egorian. I apologize!" she says with a pleading look on her face.

"Well, I was a little exaggerating ... I do not have a station like a noble title ... I mean I am a woman who knows what she wants, ok? And the problem that I see with you Antal is that you want to serve! Free yourself of this concept and embrace the freedom to live like you want!" she says almost trying the grab the Halfling's shoulders to shake him.

She then pulls up her dress and lowers herself so her face is on the same level as Antal's. "I am definitely against the way of the wicked, but I do not necessarily distaste amoral behavior as long as nobody is hurt. Most importantly, I value the individual’s right to satisfaction, in whatever form that takes. I accepts that one’s actions have consequences, and know that life is not fair, nor is it good or evil. It simply is, and I am determined to seize every moment together with companions! Understood! And you Antal ... you are my companion!" Shen says beaming and tries to hug the Halfling.
