Quiven Glist
|
Well, as long as I get half I guess that's fine. We gotta get outta here first though. Lets go.
Mohok
|
Mohok holds up a pair of large, green fingers, then a third finger, which he puts back down, trying to parse Eadie's mathematical analysis, saying quietly to himself, "A fracture? I thought that's what happened when you hit something? Though sometimes it breaks in half when you do that..."
With a shrug, he agrees with Quiven, "Maybe there's six halves, maybe not. Either way, let's keep going."
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Just about every surface of these passages have been stripped away, and several of the walls have been reduced to raw buiding materials by the robots you fought. The ceilings go clear up 100 ft, reaching nearly up to the top of the spiral staircase. The crevice near the staircase descends at least a couple dozen feet into darkness.
Suddenly a huge booming voice fills the area.
Eadie Navhelan
|
“Good point, Mohok.”
The School Marm reappears. “‘Fracture’ can also mean breaking something in half – like a cleric of Asmodeus’ face.”
“It’s one of those words that sounds the same but is spelt the same. In linguistic circles, that’s called a split infinitive.”
Well, as long as I get half I guess that's fine.
“Yeah, of course you do, Quiven!”
Eadie nods. “It’s not Catch-22. Everyone gets a share.”
The young warrior stands on the front line ready for trouble. She looks hopefully in Desmond, Mohok and Dr Strang’s directions.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Mohok
|
Mohok scrunches up his face in thought, then offers his conclusion, "That sounds like the salamander guy's jetpack - but a whole lot bigger. some kind of huge jet? You guys think we're going to take off?"
Peering down into the crevice, Mohok fills in those not so used to being in the dark, "Drops about forty feet-" He's interrupted by the powerful voice booming out and he stops speaking, looking about to see if any of his companions have any idea what is being said.
Jezabel P. Skythe
|
Jezabel winces before taking a second look in the direction Mohok is lookign in. "Y'all talking that techno-babble; givin' me a headache sure as sure. But Ah'd agree with ya Giggles. It's about forty feet. Anyone understand what the man behind the curtain is sayin'?"
Eadie Navhelan
|
Eadie is all business. “Didn’t those scrolls we taxated (fairly, sustainably and efficiently for the public good) from those Technic League citizens have leviatate and fly on them?”
“They might come in handy here.”
Dr. Strang
|
Oi... back home. Lots of messages to wade through! =)
Dr. Strang heals up anyone injured with professional ease.
How much was needing to get fixed?
I have no qualms burning spell slots on healing, so save your wands and such if you want.
"This place has certainly seen better days." He offers absently, as the get deeper into the crash site. "Though one must wander what the purpose of the constructs was? They appear to be ripping apart their domicile for the raw materials." He pauses slightly before adding. "One wonders what they are using it all to make..."
fyi, Dr. Strang played that scenario too =)
"Unlikely." He responds, as Mohok ponders whether the ship might take off. "There's not enough left of it as far as I can tell. A vessel is no different than a body. There's only so much you can remove before the entire thing ceases to function."
"Well, not without necromantic assistance, I suppose." He adds, thoughtfully, taking a closer look at one of the nearby wall panels.
As the booming voice fills the chamber, he looks up thoughtfully. "Would seem security has likely become aware of our presence."
He ponders for a moment, then casts a spell while everyone is gathered nearby.
Casting Communal Resist Energy (fire) on everyone, in case we run into more of those laser robot things!
"That should help if they have more of those burning light tools."
"I can use the scrolls as needed." He adds, in response to Eadie's comment. "Though without more information, it might be a bit premature just yet."
"Perhaps its an automated system?"
Will keep the fly scroll in hand, for now.
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
As the group looks around for the source of the voice, Dr Strang casts protection from energy and channels energy, healing up the party for 16 before the source becomes abundantly clear. A red glow emanates from the far room and everyone jumps back into battle formation!
Strang: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Eadie: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Jezebel: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Mohok: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 2 = 17
Quiven: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Desmond: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Robot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Jezebel is a bit slow on the draw as she tries to figure out the bizarre firearm she holds. It appears to have no spot to reload, but has a standard triggering mechanism. It looks as though it reloads itself?
Jezebel, if you choose to use the fancy rifle, you don't have to reload when firing. Additionally, you can take a -2 to all attack rolls to take an additional attack with the weapon. This can be used in conjunction with rapid shot.
By my assessment you still have 2 rounds of haste left
Round 1:
Strang
Eadie
Mohok
Quiven
Robot (50 ft up)
Jezebel
Desmond
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Also, Mohok and Jezebel go ahead and give me perception checks at your leisure.
Dr. Strang
|
I'm a little unclear on sight lines and such... are the things on the map that look like walls, not actually walls?
"Oh my." Strang says, as they see the latest robotic adversary floating so high above the ground.
"Would appear your assessment was accurate." He says, to Eadie.
He then quickly reads the arcane words on the scroll in his hand and reaches out to touch Mohok next to him.
"I can get another in a moment." He offers, as he pulls a fancy metal rod from beneath his robes. "But they'll need to remain close."
He could arcane bond another fly next round... but its a touch spell, so would need to be able to reach whoever he casts it on
Standard, cast Fly on Mohok (from the scroll), move to draw his metamagic rod
Eadie Navhelan
|
Round #1: 30’ base speed, falchion drawn, haste 1/2, resist energy 20 (fire) 90 minutes
Mohok’s reference to a ‘jet pack’ flies straight over Eadie’s head.
However, Dr Strang’s talk of ‘taking off’, his ‘high-flyve’ action with the half-orc and the ROARING *GLOW* above her head, all suggest to Eadie that being grounded is no place for a melee fighter.
She draws and quaffs her potion of fly before taking a 5’ step closer to the action. “If Desmond gets the next fly-touch, we’ll all get into the fight a bit quicker.”
Mohok
|
Assuming Strang follows DM Debug's suggestion to cast fly on Mohok:
"Thanks, Doc," Mohok rumbles in his gravelly voice as he strides past, his attention focused on the flying machine on the far side of the room. Stepping through the door, his feet lift off the ground, and it's a strange sight indeed to see his massive form gliding upward in a wide spiral as he gains altitude to join the fight.
Double move. With Longstrider, Fly and Haste, I've got lots of movement to burn, so I'll gradually gain enough altitude to get to 50' up.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven double moves (with haste) and hides behind one of the said walls, out of sight of the creature.
Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (10) + 22 = 32
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
As Mohok ascends to engage the robot, a tentacle of pure force lashes out at him!
Combat reflexes and 20ft reach with lash
Lash: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (6) + 22 = 28 Vs Touch
Force Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 1
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28
Quiven lurks behind the corner, and despite the robot's amazing optical sensors, the halfling is able to keep out of sight. The robot instead unleashes it's full compliment of weaponry on the half-orc in front of him.
2x Lash: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 311d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39 Vs Touch
Force Damage: 2d20 ⇒ (11, 3) = 14
Claw: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Claw: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Grab: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (7) + 28 = 35
Constrict Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Integrated Laser torch: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36 Vs Touch
Confirm?: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
Fire Damage: 2d10 + 2d10 ⇒ (5, 9) + (10, 2) = 26
If my rough math is correct, that's a total of 54 damage after subtracting 20 from the fire.
Round 1:
Jezebel
Desmond
Round 2:
Strang
Eadie
Mohok (50 ft up, -54, grappled)
Quiven
Robot (50 ft up, grappling Mohok)
Brother Desmond
|
Desmond moves into the room, Strang's spell still boosting his speed, and quickly realizes he is, quite literally, in over his head. Lacking a better plan, he casts a spell and shouts over his shoulder.
"Any arcane means of flight would be greatly appreciated! Mohok is getting ripped to shreds up there!"
Moving and casting Divine Favor. Sadly, it seems that I've forgotten to buy a new potion of Fly since I used the last one...
Dr. Strang
|
The AoO lash was a d10 damage, the 2 full attack lashes were d20s? Is that right?
either way... ouch!
Dr. Strang moves into the room, but is not quite prepared for the ferocity of the creature, and a look of concern crosses his face.
I'd use liberating command on you Mohok... but my range is only 45'... I think you went 5' too high? (That unfortunately takes away my healing options too)
He motions with his staff, while chanting some arcane words, and touches Desmond lightly.
"Do try to keep him alive up there." He says.
Standard action to cast fly via arcane bond, on Desmond.
Quiven Glist
|
Maybe I'm nitpicking, but if you are at least 5' tall you'd be within range if you were to stand under him... unless there is some PFS distance mechanic at play there.
Jezabel P. Skythe
|
Jezabel, considers her options but with Mohok's life on the line, perhaps using an unfamiliar weapon isn't the best way to deal with the threat. Drawing her trusty sidearm, she loads an adamantine round and aims.
Going to spend a grit to resolve this against touch.
+1 Pistol vs Mr Roboto(Hitting touch, Deadly Aim, Adamantine, Hasted): 1d20 + 13 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 13 - 2 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 4 = 16
Mohok
|
Again, assuming Strang goes with this option (which I greatly appreciate!):
Escape Artist, Liberating Command: 1d20 + 2 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 18 = 30
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Jezebel's shot appears to be absorbed by some sort of force shield surrounding the robot. The shot causes ripples in the shimmering field, and a humming sound kicks off as the field slowly begins to stabilize and go back to its transparent state. Regardless, the bullet did seem effective at disrupting it.
Mohok struggles in vain against the robot, whose vice-like claws hold tight with incredible strength.
Round 1:
Jezebel
Desmond
Round 2:
Strang
Eadie
Mohok (50 ft up, -51, grappled)
Quiven
Robot (-16, 50 ft up, grappling Mohok)
Edit: Also as a reminder, I do believe you still have Air Walk active if range is an issue.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven pivots around the corner and fires two arrows! I think I'll get FFAC but he's further than 30' so I, once again, miss out on sneak damage. Poor Quiven. Arrows are cold iron though.
Bow: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Bow: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Bow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Quiven might be useless in this fight.
Eadie Navhelan
|
“I think we need to try the techno-rifle on this thing.”
Eadie is calm but aware the party is in for a fight.
“Jez, if you want to stick to your pistol, maybe Quiven should grab the rifle off you and start firing it next time.”
“Desmond, I’m thinking hit-and-run tactics might be the go on this thing – don’t let it get a full attack on you.”
“If we can distract it while Jez or Quiven ZAPS it with the techno-rifle, we should be OK. And if we can manage a crit or two that would be lovely!”
“Mohok, hang on! I will NOT abandon you!”
Also, Eadie has a clockwork key which means constructs won’t attack her if there is another target available, unless its controller specifically orders it to attack her.
However, once she has attacked it, it is free to attack her.
Round #2: haste 2/2, resist energy 20 (fire) 90 minutes
Eadie performs a hasted 120’ double move to get herself into the air and as close to the action as she can.
Half speed climbs at 45°, so no fly check required
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Two of Quiven's arrows slam into its force-field destabilizing it further as Eadie rises to the challenge.
Mohok: Despite my relentless pummeling of you, you do still get your turn. I think I may have neglected to bold you in one of the previous posts.
Quiven: If you're looking to get within 30 ft, I would say that the stripped sections of the walls are pretty rough and would be DC 20 to climb if you wish to attempt that. The broken doorways (near you) would probably count as a rough natural rock surface and would be DC 15
Round 1:
Jezebel
Desmond
Round 2:
Strang
Eadie
Mohok (50 ft up, -51, grappled)
Quiven
Robot (-23, 50 ft up, grappling Mohok)
Quiven Glist
|
Ah, I will do that next round then.
Mohok
|
DM - thanks for the heads up. I wondered if I got skipped, but wasn't sure.
Mohok considers trying to break the robot's grip, but decides against it. Even Strang's magic couldn't get me free, gonna have to do this the old-fashioned way.
Holding his cumbersome falchion in one hand, he unhooks a silvery mace from his belt and attempts to whack the robot that's got hold of him!
Draw heavy mace, whack!
Heavy mace, PA, FE, Technophobe, Haste, Grappled: 1d20 + 14 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 14 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 27
Mace, PA, FE, Technophobe: 1d8 + 6 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 6 + 4 + 1 = 24
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Mohok slams hard into the robot and the force shield wobbles critically. The humming intensifies and begins to dampen the oscillations in the shield, but its quite apparent there is little left of it. The robot squeezed tighter, crushing the life out of its captive while loosening its tendrils to await incoming targets.
Maintain Grapple with one claw: 1d20 + 28 + 5 - 20 ⇒ (1) + 28 + 5 - 20 = 14
...well then... plan B!
The robot's servos seize up and the mechanism that should tighten its vice grip begin to emit smoke. The claw opens up freeing Mohok! The machine realizes its malfunction and jets away from the melee to find a more advantageous spot for itself. It seems as though it has studied this area well in the time it has been here and doesn't need to slow down whatsoever, even to navigate tight passages.
Provokes an AoO from Mohok
Round 2:
Jezebel
Desmond
Round 3:
Strang
Eadie
Mohok (50 ft up, -51)
Quiven
Robot (-42, 50 ft up, grappling Mohok)
Brother Desmond
|
Desmond flies back out the door he came in from in pursuit of the robot.
With the last round of haste still active, Desmond has a fly speed of 70, which means that he can reach it (possibly with an AoO from it), if he makes a DC 20 Fly check to ascend at a steep angle.
Fly (½CL, good maneuverability): 1d20 - 5 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (12) - 5 + 4 + 4 = 15
Folio re-roll, 4 stars: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 4 = 23
When within striking distance, Desmonds lets the robot have it.
Attack, haste, divine favor, divine bond: 1d20 + 15 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 15 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 27
Damage, divine favor, divine bond, vital strike (adamantine): 4d6 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 5) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 26
Eadie Navhelan
|
Just climbing back in my box now ;)
Round #3: haste **expired**, resist energy 20 (fire) 90 minutes
“Go, Desmond!”
Eadie flies in a straight line for 30’ before climbing at 45° on the same bearing, gaining 15m in height for an additional 30’ equivalent move. (double fly)
“I think it’s trying to buy time to heal its mage armor.”
Mohok
|
Caught a little break before the day really got going:
Mohok grunts in amazement at finding himself not only free, but no longer menaced by a giant, flying robot with tentacles of light. As the thing flies away, he takes a half-hearted swing at it with his mace.
AoO w/Heavy mace, PA, FE, Technophobe: 1d20 + 14 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 4 + 1 = 26
Mace, PA, FE, Technophobe: 1d8 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 6 = 17
Tucking the weapon back into his belt, he then flies down to ground level, calling out as he descends, "Any chance you could patch me up a bit, Strang? That thing packs a nasty punch."
Dr. Strang
|
Dangit, wanted to post before Eadie =) You guys are separated way too much. Can I get her to adjust slightly? Optimally, Mohok and Eadie would end up only 1 square seperating them. So I can get adjacent to both next round with a single move (given I can only ascend 15' at a time)
Strang waves off Mohok as he man starts to decend.
"No, get closer to Eadie." He calls, as he starts to walk upwards in tight circles. "I'll come up."
He also waves at Eadie, "Come down some!" He calls, as she moves their way.
"Need more hands." Strang mutters as he ascends fifteen more feet.
He says a prayer to Anubis, and reaches up to Mohok, healing energy infusing the half-orc with the touch.
Spontaneously converting tongues spell to cure critical wounds for CCW: 4d8 + 8 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 6) + 8 = 23 healing
"I can get you both in range, just need to be able to reach you." He adds.
Want to Dim Door both into range for a full attack next round.
Edit - PS: what's the little pink ball in the room with us?
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven moves and tries to strike the creature with another arrow! I think I have LoS on it from here.
Bow: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Dr. Strang
|
Hmm... so started doing some Pythagorean calculations... and if I can only move 15 feet ... at a 45 degree angle... I believe that means I only manage to gain 10' of height! =)
Stupid math!
Still, if Eadie and Mohok can get within range for next round, I can single move and then get them both in melee range for their turns.
Jezabel P. Skythe
|
Jezabel curses. "Sparky! C'mover here and grab that techno-rifle thing. Ah'm gonna drop it for ya!" she yells over the din of gunshots. Too far. Way too far.
As soon as Quiven is next to me, I will drop the gun for him. Spending another grit on Deadeye
+1 Pistol vs El robot(Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Haste) Attack #1: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 4 = 10
+1 Pistol vs El robot(Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Haste) Attack #2: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 4 = 16
+1 Pistol vs El robot(Hitting touch, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Haste) Attack #3: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 4 = 11
+1 Pistol vs El robot(Hasted attack, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Haste) Attack #4: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 4 = 11
Confirming crits
+1 Pistol vs El robot(Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Haste) - Critical Confirmation for #2: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 13 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 11
Glad that wasn't a misfire
+1 Pistol vs El robot(Hitting touch, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Haste) - Critical Confirmation for #3: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 24
Damage: 3d8 + 15 + 12 ⇒ (5, 7, 6) + 15 + 12 = 45
Let me know if that last shot is necessary.
The Man Behind the Curtain

I believe that the rule for wind walk and fly is you move half your speed and gain as much altitude. Pythagorean theorem doesn't apply if your system refuses to believe in it =P. So for you, you'd move 15 ft forward and 15 ft up. Additionally if your maneuverability allows it you can spiral upwards if you are just looking to gain altitude.
As the machine flies away, Mohok slams into it with his mace. The force shield around the robot takes the blow but ripples so hard the generators hum becomes a whine... then a rattle... then a puff of smoke. The remaining shots go straight into the machine's torso.
Desmond rises to meet the foe, shoving through it's lashing tentacles and striking it with a strong upward arc of his blade.
AoO: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29 Vs Touch
Force Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 7
Quiven's arrow strikes the robot with it's shield destroyed, but the arrow fails to penetrate it's thick shell.
Jezebel opens fire at the robot, landing every single shot... including a particularly nasty wound directly to the robot's thruster controls.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Jezebel: Are you still firing adamantine bullets? And yes... you certainly regain at least 1 grit...
Round 2 (loading):
Jezebel
Desmond (45 ft up)
Round 3:
Strang (15 ft up)
Eadie (45 ft up)
Mohok
Quiven

Yes. I was worried I might be using them up on the force shield, but I figured if it is still up after the pounding Mohok and Desmond gave the damn thing, I think it deserve the homage. And by homage, I mean the honor of wasting my money.
