Relocated players, repost your current actions from the old thread here so it will be easier for me to track. Also, working on the references to put into the Campaign Info. Should have it up by the end of the day.
There has been talk among the crew all day. The man Jake Cassard, who has been locked in the Wormwood's sweatbox for a week for angering Mr.Plugg, is due to be released in just a few minutes time. Can a man truly survive in a sweatbox in the Shackles Summer for a whole week and still survive? Everyone will see soon.
Jake Cassard, post your intro, since I have no background fluff to go on for you. How many people get to customize their opening? :D
Jake Cassard
Jake had always been strong willed even more so about his passion: The cyclop Empire of Ghol-Gan. He had done research on it and everytime he could he had tried to learn more about it. Of Course speaking the language had help. Even if the crew would sometime tease him about it. But Mr Plugg and Jake had gone into a heated argument about the position of the sunken island of Gwis Rhisa that was used as a commercial port during the ancient empire's time. And when jake at the end of his demonstration had called him a "Wannabee uneducated dumb ass" was the time he was sent to the sweatbox.
and yes he can survive there for a full week (Endure elements + create water)
Satinder Morne
"My name is Satinder, and I'm sure you're pleased to meet me, Abelia!"
Satinder smiles, and makes a courtsey.
"But apart from the joking, if there is anything I can do to help you, let me know. I only ask for the same courtesy in return."
---
"Guys, be sure to keep an eye on your work! Don't want to get the cat's tail tonight! Wouldn't want to set a bad example for our honoured 'guests' now would we?"
She laughs, and starts to hum a song, reminding her how much her belly and head are aching!
Of all the days!
Now:
"Sheesh, again one of those fancy not-human humans. Whatever is creating them, is having an awful lot of fun with an awful lot of women!" Satinder says as she nudges Skaldi in his ribs with her elbow.
"Do you know why he was in there?"
If I was captain, I would have your hands in metal boxes, shackled down every finger. This way you couldn't cast your fancy magic. Wouldn't be a punishment otherwise, would it? :p
Jake Cassard
ha but you see since i got "recruited" Jake has never mentioned that he can cast spells and you would have to know that he could cast these particular spell and that he doesn't need a holy symbol to do so. He does carry one just to be mistaken about it :)
Skaldi the Tallest
Skaldi puts his back into it, where it's possible to do so when making post-storm repairs. Unfortunately, the repairs seem to call for more skill than strength and he's just not coherent enough to pull it off.
He does take time out of his day to visit the Quartermaster. He thanks for her getting his gear back and promises that any luck issues are his along now. Case in point, that line that snapped just a few minutes ago while he was repairing a spar.
[dice=Profession: Sailor]1d20+8
[dice=Diplomacy]1d20+11I thought we'd already gotten Grok to Helpful. A while ago actually. But the wiki doesn't reflect that. If we did, make today "work Diligently."
Skaldi, curious as he may be, keeps at his work. He knows he's behind on duties from his trip down to the Quartermaster's store and hopes that he can catch up a bit during the distraction.
Not a clue. Truly, memory of him before today is hazy at best. I think it's been the fog of confusion from our conscription. He eyes the newly released man. Damn impressive surviving that week. I wonder who on the crew was helping him. Someone had to be sneaking him some water. Mayhaps they can shed some light on this man?
Either way The summoner says with a laugh, He managed to piss of Plugg enough to get tossed in there... I like him already.
Skaldi had failed his work check by 1 last go 'round. I'm fairly sure Grok should have been at Helpful, but she'd never gone up from friendly, so I put my back into influencing her... again...
Anyway, he's working harder instead of being distracted.
Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq.
The Varisian man turns to Lux, So what's with that squicky little giogoto Mr.Plugg anyway? I notice that you avoid him like sailors avoid Poxy Row in Hell Harbor, if you get my meaning.
I agree Satinder. Back in Cheliax these half-breeds would not stand. They run all over the place here it seems, skittering about like insects! How shameful Abelia whispers to Satinder.
As Master Scourge opens the sweatbox, the man known as Jake Cassard calmly steps out, a bit thinner than you remember, but not showing any signs of delirium or withered skin typical of a man spending a week dehydrating. You wonder how he was capable of such a feat. Perhaps the crew snuck him some water, he's been blessed by Besmara, or he's some embodiment of the sea itself. The thoughts race through your minds as you contemplate this, though you continue with your current activities.
Mr.Plugg walks up to Jake with a smirk on his face, So, you enjoy your time in the sweatbox? Promise to behave now, or do you want another week in the box. I don't know about you, but I certainly enjoyed my lunch today. We had some Sargavan Trout that was absolutely delicious. Oh, I'm sorry, so rude of me to talk about food to a man who's only fare has been whatever insects crawled into the box! Mr.Plugg seems to be enjoying his childish taunts directed towards Jake, obviously remembering their previous conversation.
Skaldi, your reaction comes up after he's released. You are continuing to work diligently.
Maeleg and Bohd, what do you do?
Take this time to RP. You will recieve bonuses to your checks based on this. After Jake is properly introduced, we will resume normal play.
Terz "Lux"
Lux looks back at the Varisian, "He is the first mate and wicked cruel when it comes to meeting out punishments. Every ship I have sailed has had one like him. I keeps at my work and out of his way. I am new aboard here myself not so new as you, so better work hard and learns the ins and outs." Lux continues teaching knots, folds, how the battens work and other sailor knowledge. When he is not giving instructions he continues to share more of his slave ship (jailhouse) learned proverbs.
Satinder Morne
Whisper to Abelia
"Interesting place this Cheliax. So you get treated in one way or another depending on the place of your birth? Th colour of your skin? The mother and father you have?
She grumbles a bit.
"Life on a pirate ship aint all that, but at least I get treated depending on who I am, not where I am from. Don't want to sound angry or beligerent, but you'd be wise not to make a lot of these 'high-born' Chelaxian remarks around here."
She giggles slightly, taps her on the chest, and walks with her below-deck.
"Cmon, let's find you a half-decent bunk, mi'lady."
Skaldi the Tallest
As Satinder mentions the Cheliaxian remarks, Skaldi pipes in, She's not giving you advice to help you make friends or keep your social calendar busy. She's trying to save you from being stripped half naked, flogged and tossed to a crew that's likely not been with a woman in a year.
He cracks his trickster's smile, I'd recommend you not follow my example. The Cat and I have a date most nights, these days.
With that he puts his back into his work twice over, convinced he can still save the spar he'd so botched just before the small boat was sighted.
Jake Cassard
Once the bosco has finish his speech jake will head toward the back of the ship, stretching all his muscles along the way.
Hopefully the cook can give me some food i am famished holding that thought he will try to see if the cook can spare something for him to eat right now.
Maeleg Valdemar
I'll kill this man. Besmara hears me, I swear I'll kill him one day.
Luckily, Maeleg manages to keep his thoughts private and tries to stay with the other crew members. As soon as Mr Plugg leaves, he goes near Skaldi.
"I hope you won't be too disappointed if I help you ? I know the Cat and you are good friends but I'm sure you could do something else than bleed in the evening."
He winks at the varisian sailor.
"Skaldi is a good friend. You can count on him. Sadly, not all the sailors here are like that."
Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq.
Terz, The Varisian man contemplates this for a moment, I'll keep this in mind, friend. I'm sorry, so rude of me, I was not able to properly introduce myself. My manners would shame my mother is she were here now, proper Varisian woman that she is. Call me Mik, all my friends do. Perhaps I can regale you with a tale or two as thanks for your help and as an apology for my rudeness?
Satinder, After Satinder and Skaldi's words, Abelia's face turns an even more ghostly white than it was, I... I'm sorry! I meant no offense! Oh, please don't throw me to those brutes! Once she realizes Satinder and Skaldi do not intend to throw her to the crew or beat her senseless, Her face turns red with embarassment, Oh my... you... Now I look like some slack-jawed peasant. Allow me a moment to compose myself... I apologize for my indiscretions. Perhaps I was not very generous to deserving people because of my upbringing. I shall reevaluate this. If your offer still stands, Ms.Satinder, I would very much like to lie down.
Jake,[ooc] As you step into the ship's galley, the drunken form Ambrose Kroop becomes visible stumbling around muttering to himself. He turns towards you, What are ya doin' here Plugg? Come to mock me some more? Well let me tell you somethin', I... Jake? Your alive?! When I heard that ya had a week in the sweatbox, I thought it was the end for ya! I'm glad to see ya, my boy! Kroop lumbers over, smelling of rum and sweat, throwing his massive arms around your neck, Come now, my boy, let's get ya a proper meal, you're lookin' rather thin! Kroop then spends the next hour cooking you a delicious meal of fried chicken served with a somewhat questionable side of fishgut stew and a pint of Drowned Rat spiced rum to wash it all down.
[ooc]Skaldi, you do know I give skill check bonuses for good RP, up to a +5, right? I will allow you to add some RP so you can possibly get the bonus to both checks, which will succeed if you do well enough if my calculations are correct. Interested?
Maeleg, what are your actions apart from your personal thoughts?
Bohd, are you still in?
Skaldi the Tallest
Madam, we wouldn't dare. Skaldi says, feigning scandal, when she remarks about being thrown to the wolves so to speak.
We've found that most here look out for their own. You'll just have to keep an eye on the less... affable crew members. he'll take a moment to point out several of the known hostiles that might be on deck.
Jake Cassard
You honestly tough that Plugg Oaf could really break me with just a week in that boxe ? replied Jake with a smile Well i am in a much better shape that he thought i would be, and yea i am famished
after finishing up his meal
That was splendid i haven't eating this well for a bunch of days Ambrose. So what did i miss during time i was on vacation?
Satinder Morne
Satinder will escort the lady below deck, explaining who to watch out for, and who are considered friendly.
Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq.
Abelia turn towards Skaldi before she is escorted by Satinder, Thank you sir, I will keep this in mind. Now if you will excuse me, I'm off to rest for a bit. And... sorry again for my earlier rudeness. She talks at length with Satinder on the way to the sleeping quarters.
Kroop looks at Jake, Ya should know how few people survive a week in the sweatbox. They either dehydrate and die or go mad with delirium and are tossed overboard. But it doesn't matter, ya survived and glad I am to see it! Want me to see if ya can get on working in here with me, so ya don't have to worry about that little eel-milker Mr.Plugg?
Bohd and Maeleg, what are your preferred jobs? Rigging, swab or other?
Satinder Morne
Ey ey, not taking my spot damn it! :p
Satiner smiles while the woman talks.
Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq.
Kroop chuckles, Ya slept nearly the whole d@mn week? That's impressive boy! In any case, I'm glad to have ya in me kitchen! I dunno know if Satinder'll be too happy, but the two of ya can work together, cant'cha? The girl's sweet, but she and I alone won't be enough if Harrigan wants a proper meal cooked fer the whole crew!
Mr.Plugg walks over to the Garundi man, What was your name again, meat? After hearing Bohd's response, You're going to work to earn your place onboard. The crew could either use a surgeon to help out our own sawbones fix up our boys after a raid or another swab. Got a preference, meat? Surgeon's assistant is a job I homebrewed. Heavy on Heal, Knowledge: Nature, and Craft: Alchemy checks, any of which can be used to treat patients, though in differing ways.
Abelia stops as Satinder motions to a previously unused cot. My thanks, Lady Satinder for your kindness. Now if you will excuse me, I'm about to take a short rest. I'll see you uptop in about an hour or so, ok?
Maeleg, make your roll with Profession: Sailor.
Skaldi and Terz, when everyone is finished with their RP and actions for the day, I will give everyone the results of their daytime actions, then, obviously, everyone can post night time actions. Just letting you know I'm not ignoring you! :)
Satinder Morne
Satinder nods and leaves her with a sharp knife for under her pillow.
Jake Cassard
well it isn't real sleep just more trying to rest the brain and the body since there sin't much to do inside of a box. So i refocused on the the history of the cyclops empire. It keep me occupied. Don't know much about cooking really but i can be you helper no problem and i can work with a Satinder, i'll try my best he says with a generous smile
Dam i haven't eaten this good in a week laughing out loud
Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq.
Mr.Plugg scowls at Bohd, You don't get the luxury of standing around staring at the clouds, meat. Go through that door over there, Mr.Plugg points to a door engraved with a bonesaw etching, And talk with Habley Quarn. He's employs some Kuthonite teachings, particularly in making sure that even the healing of wounds still leaves an impression on his patients, making them unlikely to repeat whatever mistake got them injured in the first place. You lot could learn a lot from that man. Get moving, meat!
Abelia nods back at Satinder and lays down. I assume you're going back to your duties? Just checking!
Maeleg, you will not need to help the Varisian man. I just house rule that all NPCs performing duties automatically succeed to keep the rolls down to a minimum, since there would be little real impact on the PCs if the NPCs failed checks. Your action has been noted and will post the results once everyone has weighed in on their daily actions.
Jake, what daytime action are you taking? Work diligently, I assume? The list is in campaign info tab, since I am waiting until all PC actions are done for the day aboard the Wormwood to put all the info onto Google Docs.
Satinder Morne
After this, Satinder goes back to work.
She finds someone else scraping the pots, and decides she doesn't care. As long as she has access to lots of sharp knives...
Satinder Morne
Sorry, didn't kno you were waiting for me. Work diligently!
Satinder does her best to make a great meal so as to make sure the anger the captain might have concerning the extra mouths to feed, will drift away.

Bohd, As you walk into the surgeon's quarters, you see the an old man with wispy white hair and sun-beaten skin criss-crossed with scars performing surgery on a woman with tanned skin and long black hair, her mouth gagged with a piece of leather to bite down on to, unsuccessfully, take her mind off of the pain. The man's blood-encrusted tools work with a feverish pace on the woman's leg until he finally amputates it at the knee. He moves like quicksilver, packing a small amount of salt into the exposed flesh and stitching it up with haste. The man speaks to her in a calm, clear voice, Shhh, my dear, shhhh. Pain is an indication of failure, of weakness. If you would have done a better job in that game of Knivesies, you wouldn't have had to go through this. But the pain purifies you, it excises the weakness from you even as I have excised the flesh from your beautiful body. Make your suffering, your agony, into a source of strength. Rest now, and awaken anew. The man turns to you, his cold wintry green eyes focused intensely on you, And who are you, my son? Have you come seeking aid, or are you the disciple Plugg has promised me? Be not afraid... speak. The man's manner of speech and and demeanor seems very out of place in the Shackles, marking him as a foreigner of some sort.
Everyone, don't worry, once I finish up with Bohd, we will progress to the nighttime actions. Also, check the discussion thread and post your thoughts on my question.
Bohd Stormcaller
"Names Bohd, I be ya new helpa, mon." Though not a doctor, Bohd does not seem queasy at the sight of the man amputeeing the woman's leg. "I be no doctah, but I be fixin' up people in da past, so I figurin' dat bein' da surgeon's helpa be bettah than bein' a swab." Bohd shrugs and offers the man his hand as a gesture of greeting.
Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq.
The man shakes your hand, his bony grasp strong and his skin oddly cool, Habley Quarne's the name, my boy, former citizen of Nidal and, as you can see, the surgeon on this fine ship. Let us begin your new work, shall we? Quarne walks over to a man laying on a small cot, the man's hand festering with some sort of rot, Now, see this fellow here? Had a nasty splinter a week or so ago. Now, his hand has become gangrenous and requires amputation or healing magic, the latter of which no one on this ship, to my knowledge at least, possesses. Think you can fix his hand, my boy? You need to either succeed at a DC 20 Heal check to properly amputate the gangrenous hand or use a Healing spell to cure the infection
Bohd Stormcaller
"Plugg be sayin' nah magic, but he never be sayin' no magic ta help 'is own, eh?" Bodh walks over to the man and quickly waves his hand and chants, touching the man's gangrenous hand, which cures quickly and easily. "Nah need ta be cuttin' 'is 'and off now, ya mon? I be a storm chassah - a Druid. I follah tha will o' Gozreh. Usually, I be actin' as sailin' mastah - back on da old ship."
