As you look around you notice a crane that serviced the unloading and loading of boxes in the bottom left corner of the map.
Upon some more looking, you find some rope, and a large cargo grapple.

Perception 1d20 ⇒ 6
"Hooks would be helpful, but we can rig a support harness for the box with enough rope."

Brayden Green |

Yes, there are hooks. The rope will need to be attached manually, both to the box, and the crane, if you are planning on using the crane.

![]() |

"What if we lifted someone up to the crane to attache the net and rope, then used the crane to swing them into position to attach the hooks to the crate? That would keep anyone from having to crawl out on those boards. Seriously, someone was either very careless or very paranoid about the contents of that crate to have put it out there."

![]() |

That could work. We could use my shield as a lift platform so they have a little more stability. Im guessing that the floor is this way due to carelessness and poor maintance.
If we do this it would be a str check. If I remember my rules right. With a lowered difficulty for assisting right?

Brayden Green |

Foreman Wibeke thinks that will work, as far as removing the box with the crane.
There is also a ladder near the wall that you can climb, giving you access to the top of the beam, but then making you walk all the way across to the crane. The crane is 20' up, so it would be more of a "throw you up there and you grab on and hang" sort of thing the way you are thinking of doing it.

![]() |

"I can call out directions to whomever is operating the crane, but first we need to get someone up there." She looks around, judging everyone's weight. "Who's the lightest here?"

![]() |

Trying his best to be seen Rutilus stands on his tip toes and casually waves at Wibeke. "I don't think anyone here is lighter than I. Probably best if I climb up and over though. Whatever you think is best."

![]() |

"This is gonna be good." Dagbur says without malice, really quite excited for what they're about to attempt. He also waits for any instructions if someone needs him to do anything.

![]() |

Wibeke bends over slightly and laces her fingers in front of her. She looks at Rutilus. "Come on, I'll give you a boost."

![]() |

Wibeke waits for Rutilus to place his foot in her hands, then heaves him with all her might upward.
Strength check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Brayden Green |

So which is happening? Is Rutilus flying in the air boosted by Wibeke, or did you take the ladder?

![]() |

"This is gonna be good." Dagbur says without malice, really quite excited for what they're about to attempt. He also waits for any instructions if someone needs him to do anything.
Haraldir nods a few times, suppressing a chuckle upon hearing Dagbur's comment. He winks lightly at the big barbarian, all the while standing aside, trying not to interfere with Wibeke and Rutilus, who seemed to know what they were doing. Haraldir himself had no idea at all what they were planning, so he spent his time dividing his attention between looking as to what the group is doing and looking around the warehouse, trying to make sure they are not spotted.

Brayden Green |

Amazingly enough, it works!
So Rutilus is hanging there, with some of the rope around his shoulder. Now only to thread it through the pulley system.
You can pull yourself up to the "platform" on top of the crane, or you can hang and do it with penalties.

![]() |

Rutilus pulls himself up onto the platform. Heading over to the the pulley to feed the rope through.
Rolls if needed
Climb
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Acrobatics (balance)
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Those rolls are bad, I probably don't fall but I may need to make another climb check to proceed unless the DC is 5, I'll supply another roll
Climb
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

I vote we purchase a barrel of lard, find a smooth section of pavement, and conduct a field test. Rogue-shuffleboard is sure to become a hit.

Brayden Green |

Oh, the post on my phone didn't go through! Sorry... You make it up fine rutilus, and I assume you make the loop through using your disable device in reverse. "assemble device" if you will.
So the rope is now coming down, and the pulley system is almost complete. Now to get Wibeke over by the base of it to operate the levers to raise, lower, all that stuff. As far as that goes, I will need a roll to raise (using engineering), and to move to the side.
Also, Rutilus needs to get down before you do that (I mean, technically he doesn't, just depends on how he feels about falling 20 feet onto rotting wood directly over the ocean)
Also, the crane needs to be attached to the box. There are hooks on the box to attach it, and the box looks to be sturdy enough to support itself.
IF you are "small" then you can do this taking 10, with no additional rolls.

![]() |

Dagbur eyes the whole operation, impressed at the others for figuring all these things out! He does intuit enough to realize someone's going to have to attach the crane to the box, and pulls a rope from his pack. [b]"Whoever goes to box, tie this around you, like this. I'll hold other end."[b] Dagbur pantomimes tying the rope around his waist and after whoever does tie him/herself off, ties the other end of the rope to a support beam and takes ahold of the rope somewhere in the middle, giving enough slack to the person tying off the box to move unhindered.

![]() |

Lauranna would you be so kind as to hold my Shield and Swordbelt Please. Would hate for them to get wet in the event that I fall.
Dagbur let us tie that around me but im hoping I wont need it
What roll would we need for tying rope
Taking my Sweet time I will work my way across the disenigrating floor.
1d10 ⇒ 7

Brayden Green |

Yep, have some points. And here are some more points. Did you get enough points yet :P No? Here are some more... yes, it was cool
Don't worry about making the "tying roll." You attach the clamp securely, and back away calmly and steadily. The rig is set and ready to go.

![]() |

Wibeke steps over to the boom controls, rubs her hands together, and places them gently on the controls.
Knowledge (engineer) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 It's just raising and lowering a hook, right? ;)

Brayden Green |

raised up, I'll need another to move it over. I'll roll it for you.
Perception: Wibeke checks to see that everything is stable. It looks to be. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Wibeke moves the crate over and sets it down on the ground.
The rescued crate holds a smaller mahogany
box inside, which contains five books and a few loose sheets
of paper in a leather folder. The titles and subjects seem
completely unrelated to each other: Practical Thaumaturgy
In Accordance with Creation, Geographic Anomalies of the
Inner Sea, Under Kaer Maga: A Trial and Travel, Physiology of
Dragons: An Illustrated Reference, Lost Sarusan. The leather
folder contains cargo manifestos, warehouse inventories,
and other financial logs from a dozen different merchant
houses and trade guilds.
The crate also contains 10 sets of masterwork thieves’
tools, three flasks of alchemist’s fire, a flask of acid, a dozen
jars of various inks, a footprint book*, adamantine weapon
blanch*, three bags of powder*, a deck of marked cards*,
and two sets of average loaded dice*. (Items marked with
an asterisk may be found in the Advanced Player’s Guide.)

![]() |

"Good work, you three. Very good work indeed. now, let's see just what was in this crate. Hmmm...what an eclectic collection of items. Smuggling and thieves' gear alongside books and business documents. Given the nature of the contents, and our rather shady contact, I suggest we get a move on. And, if at all possible, not get harassed by guards while we have these items in our possession."
Lauranna was uncomfortable about this job. It seemed too much like smuggling for her tastes, and she wondered why it was that Karela couldn't be bothered to get it himself. Sacrificial pawns.

![]() |

"Haha! Smart box moving Wibeke. Dagbur peers into the crate with the others, taking the mahogany box and storing it in his pack if no one objects. "This look like little box, these other things good?" Dagbur shows interest in the acid flask, a bag of powder and one set of dice. "We go now?"

![]() |

"Grab and go, people. Grab and go." Wibeke leans over to examine the contents. "And I'm grabbing this." She takes the adamantine weapon blanch and slips it into a pouch on her belt.
Are the books very heavy? Does it matter who carries them?

Brayden Green |

The books are not heavy.
Have we discussed how PFS loot works in this group yet?

Brayden Green |

That's so typical mother.
We will resume it on the discussion thread.
