CLW Extract: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Jim takes the potion and offers it to Broon. "Watch your face from now on."
Let's go through Elena's door to the right. I'll do my usual T10 and burst through if no one objects (and Elena moves).
GM Bold Strider
Jim finds an empty hallway that seems to lead to an interesting room. The lower four feet of the walls in this empty room are covered with crude drawings in mud, blood, and paint. Most of the drawings show goblins engaged in some sort of violence against humans, horses, or dogs. One picture on the north wall is at least three times the size and complexity of the other scrawlings. This image shows Thistletop from the side, the goblin stockade perched atop it like a crown. A cave has been drawn into the center of the image, and looming inside is what appears to be an immense, muscular goblin with snakelike eyes and a dogslicer in each taloned hand. If the scale compared to the rest of the drawing is to be believed, this goblin must be at least thirty feet tall.
Elena Lovain
"If that sucker is waiting for us inside this place, then the town is doomed. A large goblin like that would certainly keep the others in line though."
Would any sort of Knowledge check give us any info about the drawings?
Jim Seeker
"Glaucus is probably right. But if he's not, Sandpoint could be in serious trouble. More than that, we could be in serious trouble. Don't expect me to stick around and fight any whale-sized goblins."
With that, Jim checks the door and prepares to burst through. "Everyone ready?"
T10 = 19 for traps
GM Bold Strider
Two large stone doors sit in the western wall here, their faces carved with images of horrific, deformed monsters clawing their way out of pregnant women of all races. Two branching hallways lead to other doors.
These two stone doors are well maintained, and open easily.
Knowledge (Planes) or (Religion) to know about the giant goblin.
Elena Lovain
Know. Planes 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 concerning goblin giant
GM Bold Strider
Elena has heard of this creature. It is likely the barghest follower of the Runelord of Wrath. He was a feared lieutenant prior to the fall of Thasilon.
As Glaucus kicks open the doors, an ominous feeling emanates from the room. Stone fonts containing frothy dark water sit to the north and south of the eastern entrance to the room, and twin banks of stone pillars run the length of the long chamber. At the western end, shallow stairs rise to a platform about two feet off the ground. The walls surrounding this platform are lit by hanging braziers that emit glowing red smoke, giving the place an unnerving crimson lighting that throws the bas-relief carvings of countless monsters feasting on fleeing humans into lurid display. A black marble altar stone, its surface heaped with ashes and bone fragments, squats before a ten-foot-tall statue. The sculpture depicts a very pregnant but otherwise shapely naked woman who wields a kukri in each taloned hand and has a long reptilian tail, birdlike taloned feet, and the snarling head of a three-eyed jackal with a forked tongue. The left kukri flickers with fiery orange light while the right one glows with a cold blue radiance.
A burned, mutilated corpse of a man is on the altar.
Elena Lovain
Elena keeps her Derect Magic active. "Um guys, this place is getting worse by the second. Pretty sure this is about the most evil place ever."
Elena Lovain
I was assuming since we leveled we'd hit reset, but I'm not sure.
Jim Seeker
The level gave us access to our new stuff, but anything already spent is not regained (lost HP, used spell slots, etc).
"Whatever. Looks weird. Let's get out of here."
Elena Lovain
"Those kukri are magical. One of you clever boys grab them so I can get a closer look."

"Don't get set on fire, Jim! We might have to leave them, if we can't put that fire out."
Elena Lovain
"Well, we might be able to use those to convince the goblins we are Fire Gods, if nothing else. They do like fire, from what I remember."
Jim Seeker
"Nobody who sees these will doubt I'm a hero!" Jim declares, waving them around. "I mean... let's go."
He sheepishly hands them off to someone with a backpack.
GM Bold Strider
Jim opens two sets of doors and the group finds themselves in a fairly elaborate dungeon.
The southern wall of this room is a bank of cells with iron doors, six in all. The rest of the room is obviously a torture chamber; a rack sits against the far wall, an iron maiden stands to the north, and a fire pit smolders below a spiky cage dangling from a chain in the ceiling to the east.
Several humanoids' bodies lay in the cells, clearly dead and the area looks to be in disarray, fallen into disuse.
Elena Lovain
Elena keeps her Detect Magic ability active during the exploration of this area.
"What a grim place. But it clearly wasn't built by kobolds. It's been here a long time by the looks of it."
Jim Seeker
"Well this is depressing. Yes, let's move on."
Next door, same song & dance.
GM Bold Strider
Jim pushes on to the next room and finds that a single lantern hangs from a hook on the wall next to where the stairs enter this room from the north. Several rickety doors open into this room, and a few discarded dog pelt rugs lie forgotten in the northeast corner.
Huge gouges in the floor drag to the door in the northwest, back towards where you came from. The "tactical" table likely resided here before being moved without grace to the room to the north.
Glaucus Circe
Glaucus gives a cursory glance to the room and the scuffs on the floor. "C'mon, we've got a goblin god to kill." He keeps moving along with Jim and kicks the next door down.
Elena Lovain
Elena follows behind the others. "Well, let's keep pressing on, then! You first, boys."
Elena Lovain
Have we lost Rug the kobold?
GM Bold Strider
The door to the north of the "jail" looks to be a guard's bedroom, but there doesn't seem to be anyone here. It is likely that the goblin in question is out on the raid on Sandpoint.
Door: 1d5 ⇒ 4
The group decides to head through the door to the east and finds what is likely a storage room. Crates, barrels, and mounds of miscellaneous
refuse lie heaped against the walls here. To the north, the sound of crashing surf echoes.
They tentatively move north to follow the sounds, noting that the floor of this cavern seems strangely polished and smooth. To the east, a thick curtain of vines and nettles hangs down over a wide, opening overlooking the Varisian Gulf.
As the group moves through the narrow tunnel, a ghastly beast drops from the ceiling. This dark blue creature has a conical body covered in angry red eyes and numerous tentacles, two of which are longer than the rest.

As they explore the unworked stone area, they find dozens of strange dead bodies lie scattered about. Most are sea birds and ospreys, but there are six dead goblins here as well. Each body is literally skin and bones, as if all of the interior organs and muscles have somehow been drained away, leaving behind skeletons draped with leathery, slowly rotting skin.
One of the skeletons is actually a human and seems to still be wearing armor; a +1 chain shirt.
