still new, so I don't know what the Day job is about so lets say I don't have one ^+^

Perception and Initiative modifiers please!

@Hasshin: At the end of every scenario, a character can roll a Craft, Profession or Perform check to earn some money "between" scenarios. For example, Leepo rolled a 22. This will give her an extra 20 GP on her chronicle. This is a Day Job check! 20GP may not seem like much, but if you can reliably get 30-40 on your day job, then you can get 100 to 150GP extra per chronicle.

GM Bold Strider, I want Magrim to worship Valani, which eventually (Level 3) grants him a Domain like a cleric.

For PFS, do I need to have a book with Valani in it to be able to do that? I don't even know what book he's in? Maybe inner sea gods?

Valani is in Inner Sea Gods pg. 324. She also has a section in Chronicle of the Righteous pg. 26.

I don't think you need a book with the god in it if you are just using it for the domain. If you are going Mystery Cultist or Exalted or something, then you need to book for that god/dess. (I think.)

Hmm, I was referring to Valani the "Father of Islands". It's a guy, an empyreal lord.

Link.

Thanks! That's good to know, and also good that I don't have to drop $10 just to have my character choose that god/domain.

One more thing--Alistair and I (we're brothers) are trying to setup a home PFS game for Saturday. If we can get that going (assuming Magrim doesn't die), that would give me my third chronicle and I'd become level 2. If this happens, I'll definitely update my stuff before the 15th. I just wanted to let you know so you didn't think I spontaneously became Level 2 out of nowhere.

Works for me!

If you own a copy of the PFS Field Guide (print or pdf) you can spend 5 PP to purchase a Caravan Vanity which allows you to use Diplomacy for day jobs.

@Eponine: Under a technical reading of the Alchemist bonus, I believe that it doesn't count. However, it is so grey area, that if you wish to count it, then I don't care. In the end, it is whether you want to adhere to a strict reading or a possible writing error. Most people allow it as far as I know.

@Alistair: You can buy before and after the scenario.

@Hasshin: You need a boon to use Diplomacy as a Day Job. I don't know of any that exist for that, but one might. As to the "Unchained background skill rules", if you mean the bonuses for 5/10/15/20 ranks, then yes, they are implemented, however you cannot use them (without a feat or class dip). They are exclusively for Unchained Rogues or characters with the Signature Skill feat.

At level one you can change anything. Before I hit level 2, I'm gonna drop toughness for improved initiative, for example. You can also sell back gear for 100% instead of 50%, which I'll also be taking advantage of before I level. So in answer to your question: yes you can switch bloodlines, but you have to wait til the end of this scenario

The level 4 rule is D&D 5e organized play. As Alistair said, anything must be changed before level 2, otherwise you have to use the retraining rules in Ultimate Campaign to change class features.

This is my first online PFS scenario, so I'm just wondering if there is any kind of "24/48 hr rule" or whatever for posting pace? Not complaining, as I know real life stuff can pop up, but it just seems like we have some people that have a very slow post rate and its hard to get the game flowing steadily.

Depends on the GM, I usually try to post multiple times a day. Minimum of once every 24 hours unless I forget about a game! (Which happens, regretably)

If someone doesn't post within a 24 hour period during a battle, then I usually just skip them. If I am familiar with the character, then I will bot them as I have a good idea of what they normally do.

Other GMs have similar MOs.

Yes I can post multiple times a day, depending on how much the other players post. This is my third pfs game my other that I'm still in is a core carrion crown. But I feel you when others only post 1 or twice every few days it almost makes you loose the feel of your character and game. But I understand when rl comes hard you can't always find the time to let people in your game know.

GM, what are the chances we finish this by Friday morning/early afternoon? Not trying to rush, but I'm signed up for an online game Friday night in the APcon and I need to send in what character I'm using. Just wanted to know if I need to use a pregen or if Magrim will have a shot.

I would say that that is very unlikely. This game is actually moving very quickly, but online scenarios usually take 1.5 to 2 months minimum. We are at 9 days and are very far along, but there are still encounters left.

I have to say that this is a bit of a concern to me. I've never had a PbP go longer than a month. If this and my other one (Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible) go two months than neither of my characters will be available for gencon, which would upset me greatly. This one is moving faster than the other one, but still.

Do you think we could keep moving along today? I'm not trying to be a pest, but it's been almost 48 hours, so I thought a polite nudge would be good.

This one, definitively, will not go for two months. It will probably be finished in a week or two.

Assault just wrapped up the first encounter and has five more encounters at 11 days.

I double-checked with another prolific PbP GM about length of the average scenario and he said 4 to 6 weeks is pretty average. Anything in the 6+ level range usually takes 6 weeks minimum.

She still hits and she has no weapon out.

Tentacles must be attacked with a Sunder maneuver. No AC is given for them. Sorry. :(

I just have to say, I thoroughly disagree with your ruling on this. I as a player and Magrim as a character have no way of knowing that the tentacles don't have an AC. And I didn't say: "I attack its AC to cut the tentacle", I said: "I Attack to Sever Tentacle" for both Magrim and Lagertha. If the rules in the book say a sunder is required for that, then you should say: "Ok, that's a sunder maneuver, it's against the tentacle's CMD". To not count my attack over that is extremely unfair.

And furthermore, I'm getting doubly punished because this is a PbP. Because had this been live, you would have said: "Oh that's a sunder" after Magrim's attack. And had you not counted that (again, in my opinion very unfair), I at least would have specified that Gertie's attack was a sunder. How a dinosaur would know the difference between "biting AC to sever" and "biting CMD to sever" I don't know.

I sincerely hope you will reverse your ruling on this and count my attacks against the tentacle's CMD.

What I mean is tell me what the attacks are against CMD. Haven't made a ruling, just asking for clarification. If they are the same, let me know. It is an interesting thing that something only has a CMD and not an AC. I am not trying to screw you over, just following what I am given in the statblock.

The Exchange

Dwarf Hunter (Divine Hunter) 4
stats:
HP: (35/35) AC 18 (FF 16, Touch 12) (+2 AC vs crit confirmation) FS +7, RS +7, WS +5 (+2 vs poison, +4 vs spells/SLA), Initiative: +2 Perception: +10/+12 (stonework) (Darkvision)

Oh, sorry I jumped to conclusions!

Both of my attacks (Magrim's and Gertie's) are the same whether against AC or CMD. So Magrim hits a 26 CMD for 7 slashing and Gertie hits a 17 CMD for 10 damage (I think a bite is slashing and piercing, but I'd have to look that up).

No worries! Also, I'm not trying to be contrarion with the SW Skald thing. I just read it and that is what I see.

Also, Bite attacks are B/P/S.
