@Chwaer - unfortunately you did not beat the CMD. Still...
Molly's shark appeared and distracted the chuul just long enough for Storn and Chwaer to kill it, with Sander inflicting a little damage of his own for good measure.
Looking over the berm, you could see a ruined fountain against the far wall. Parts of the ceiling had fallen in long ago, and crushed the once magnificent fount.

Chwaer Moltengem |

Chwaer jumps when she sees the shark appear. "Can we send that to scout out the rest of the area?" she asks silently, forgetting nobody can hear her.

![]() |

*glub glub*? Quill asks worriedly, unable to communicate underwater. But as he senses the area is clear after the rocking lobster’s death, he moves forward to cast Detect Magic and look around...for treasure, loots, magics, and clay.

Storn of Gorum |

Using his spear like a weird punt to propel himself along the ground, Storn waits a moment for the shark to confirm there's nothing else ready to eat them before exploring the fount.

DM Bigrin |

The shark moved to that area, the one to the east, and disappeared into the gloom. It didn't return.
Meanwhile, Quill scanned the chuul's nesting room with his third eye and saw a faint glow in the ruins of the broken fountain. Moving in closer, the glow diverged into several magical sources, and in the cracked basin Quill found the chuul's collection of treasures. The hoard consists of a waterlogged suit of +1 hide armor, a masterwork heavy mace, a belt of giant strength +4, an oil of flame arrow, a potion of enlarge person, a scroll of cure serious wounds, a wand of entropic shield (32 charges), three malachites worth 10 gp each, a tourmaline worth 120 gp, 24 gp, 700 sp, and 400 cp.

We’re looking for the clay, right?
Quill will take the oil of flame arrow, leaving the other stuff for others.
*glub blub?* Quill asks, pointing around as they still haven’t found their main treasure yet.
When others are ready, he will swim to AP7 and then AP20, looking for a way forward.
Not sure which way to go next.

Chwaer Moltengem |

Chwaer slides down the berm and joins Quill. She holds up the belt and waves to Storn, pointing at it and shrugging her shoulders. When Quill swims off toward the west, she moves east (AQ18) and peers through the entryway.

The belt of giant strength can be used by Storn but I won't fight over it. Much.
Storn squeals a little in the water as they find the loot before he punts along with the rest of the group, bobbling along in exactly the way a fish don't.

chwaer perception: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 13 + 2 = 27
Everyone swims or plods eastwards, with Chwaer taking the time to stick her head into the southeast room. Much of this room has collapsed. Large blocks protrude through the outer walls and several have settled in the middle of the chamber. A giant metal brazier frosted in a green patina stands on its side, wedged in place against the roof. her keen eyes see that the ceiling is precariously balanced on that brazier, and any attempt to move it will likely cause the entire thing to collapse.

Chwaer Moltengem |

Chwaer pantomimes what she sees, waving anyone off if they try and go near the brazier. She doubles back and peers into the room that ate the shark (AJ28).

The ogre lunged at Storn, raking it's claws across the big man's arm. Can I cast lightning bolt underwater without the electricity just going every which way and shocking all of us instead of the target? -- Knowledge (arcana) 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35 to determine.

DM Bigrin |

Electricity Spells: While normal electricity, such as that from a natural thunderstorm, tends to disperse in all directions underwater, magical electricity spells hold their integrity enough to have normal effects underwater, with one exception: visible and audible lightning bolts and sparks are the result of combusted air, and they don’t happen underwater. Because of this, creatures that fail to identify an electricity spell that requires a ranged touch attack are flat-footed against the first such ranged touch attack during a fight, as they don’t realize they need to dodge the invisible projectile (unless they otherwise have reason to expect it, like a spellcaster who can cast such spells). This doesn’t apply to melee touch spells like shocking grasp, since the creature can still see the spellcaster’s hand moving towards it.

Chwaer struggled to close, while Molly cast a lightning bolt. The water robbed the destructive bolt of electrical energy of much of its power, but the target still shook and juddered with the damage. Quill closed the gap.
The merrows struck back, each raining claws onto Storn's unarmored form. Both raked their claws into Storn's exposed body, and the white one managed to get one claw sunk into Storn and was wrapping him up in a bear hug when Storn's stunning barrier went off, stupefying the aquatic ogres mind.
